Tottenham are planning to improve the depth of their attacking unit in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be in the transfer market for reinforcements, as Roberto De Zerbi looks to rebuild his squad after guiding the club to safety.

The Tottenham recruitment team are approaching a summer window that De Zerbi has made clear must deliver meaningful and significant improvement to the squad. There is a clear need for the Lilywhites to add dynamism, flair and goals from attacking areas after long-term injuries to Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons. Mathys Tel was in and out of the side throughout the recently concluded campaign, denying him the consistency to perform and deliver the goods.

De Zerbi heavily relies on his attackers to stitch play in the final third, which suggests someone like James Maddison will have a significant role to essay next season. Dejan Kulusevski did not play a single minute during the 2025/26 season after suffering a patella injury exactly a year ago. While there will be hope of getting Kulusevski back fit in time for the pre-season, De Zerbi cannot expect Kulusevski to hit the ground running after recovering from a serious knee problem.

Keeping that in mind, Tottenham would do well to bring in attackers with hybrid profiles to improve the depth of their squad.

Tottenham enter the race for Wolves attacker Rodrigo Gomes

According to Portuguese newspaper O’Jogo (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham are keeping an eye on Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Rodrigo Gomes. Following relegation from the Premier League, the 22-year-old has not given any guarantees so far that he will be staying at Wolves and helping them achieve promotion at the first time of asking.

“I still haven’t spoken to my agent. If I stay, I promise to give everything to help Wolves return to the Premier League,” Rodrigo Gomes said in a recent interview.

Gomes finished the 2025/26 campaign with five goals in 27 games in all competitions. He missed well over two months with a groin injury and only returned to action in mid-January. The former Portuguese Under-21 international most notably scored in Wolves’ wins over Aston Villa and Liverpool at Molineux.

As Wolves have gone down to the Championship, they will struggle to keep hold of Gomes if top clubs come calling for his signature. Tottenham are looking to take advantage of the Wanderers’ situation and tempt the 22-year-old to N17. Still young, can play wide or in midfield and has two years of Premier League experience, the Portuguese talent fits the profile at Spurs.

To improve the squad’s attacking depth, Tottenham must test Wolves’ resolve with a cheeky bid for Gomes.
