Tottenham Hotspur's season will hinge upon their Europa League successes, starting with Thursday's Europa League semi-final first leg against Bodo/Glimt in north London on Thursday - but even any continental trophy might not be enough to hand Ange Postecoglou the reins next season and Carlo Ancelotti could be the man to bring in.
A truly shambolic Premier League campaign has seen Spurs win just four games in the Premier League in 2025, including a run of one win in 11 outings from December through to February - and as a result, they sit just 16th in the top-flight, one point away from 17th and now unable to reach the top half mathematically.
Ancelotti's Brazil Breakdown has Opened Tottenham Door
The Italian boss looked to be on his way to South America
New managers have been touted with the potential vacancy should the Australian boss depart the club, notably Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth and Marco Silva of Fulham respectively, after their superb campaigns in the English top-flight.
However, GIVEMESPORT sources last week revealed that Tottenham chiefs had discussed the possibility of attempting to lure one of Jurgen Klopp, Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso and even Carlo Ancelotti to north London, in what would be a massive coup for the club.
Postecoglou has struggled and that has called for change - and with Ancelotti's talks with Brazil coming to a standstill, they should go all out to tempt the Real Madrid boss to north London.
Ancelotti is no stranger to the capital, having managed Chelsea from July 2009 through to May 2011, winning 67 of his 109 games in charge - and a return to London could be just what he needs after a four-year spell at Madrid, his second of a fruitful spell that saw him win two league titles, two Champions League trophies and the Copa del Rey, being named as one of the 'greatest coaches in history'.
Ancelotti Everton Spell Could Give Tottenham Chiefs Hope
Taking a move to a struggling Premier League club isn't alien for Ancelotti
However, it's his time at Everton that could ignite hope in Tottenham's ranks that he could take on the challenge in the north of the capital. Ancelotti joined the Toffees in December 2019 when they'd sacked Marco Silva earlier in the campaign, with the Toffees venturing into the drop zone after a loss to Liverpool just two weeks earlier.
He turned their form around almost instantly; losing just once in his first nine Premier League games against Manchester City, the Toffees were in no immediate danger of relegation from there onwards and the following campaign saw him land Allan and James Rodriguez as two incredibly high-profile signings.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Carlo Ancelotti has managed 1,396 games, winning 834 of them during his career.
The Toffees were even better when the season began again, winning nine of their first 15 games in the league to go second on Boxing Day - and although they couldn't quite keep up that form, Ancelotti still managed to record a top-half finish. He'd get more money to spend at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, especially if they win the Europa League - and that should propel them back into the European spaces with some already world-class stars at the club at present.
Ancelotti's credentials need no introduction, with Champions League trophies and top-flight titles being in abundance throughout his career - and that is something Tottenham may need, especially if they fail to win the Europa League to end their drought.
