AS Roma’s Wesley has been one of Serie A’s most consistent players this season and is now attracting attention from Tottenham, Newcastle United and Arsenal.

The Brazilian joined the Giallorossi for €25m last summer and has fit in perfectly to Gian Piero Gasperini’s system.

He started the season in his favoured right wing-back position but has filled in well at left wing-back too. Wesley now has five league goals, after scoring against Fiorentina on Monday.

Sport Witness have covered reports of interest from Manchester City, with the Brazilian media also adding their own information about this.

The list of suitors for Wesley is growing. Tottenham, Newcastle United and Arsenal are now in the race for the defender.

Value has now doubled

Calciomercato IT believe Wesley’s first season in Italy has been ‘nothing short of astonishing’. There were some doubts about him when he arrived from Flamengo but he has dispelled those resoundingly.

In Roma’s eyes, his value has now doubled.

Tottenham, Newcastle United and Arsenal have taken note of his performances. There have been no formal offers but the report clarifies that the future of Tino Livramento could be key.

The Magpies full-back is of interest to the Gunners, Spurs and Manchester City. Only one of Livramento or Wesley would be targeted by the clubs, with other teams likely to push for the Roma star.

At the same time, losing the Englishman will prompt Newcastle United to see Wesley as a replacement.

A deal for the 22-year-old would usually not be easy but the Italian side have financial worries.

FFP issues can lead to sale

As things stand, Roma need to make some major capital gains by the end of June. Ideally, they would sell players who joined for free and now have a high valuation. However, Wesley is probably the most expensive player in their side right now.

Tottenham, Newcastle United and Arsenal should take note of that. Wesley can become an important player for all of them, adds versatility and is also younger than Livramento. A summer move for him will make sense for any big club that needs an attacking fullback.
