Tottenham Hotspur have now changed their mind regarding a move for a Copenhagen starlet, with the report making a very curious claim about the North London club’s plans to strengthen their midfield.

Earlier this week, it emerged that Tottenham Hotspur had shown a keen interest in a young Danish starlet, but their failure to sign him last summer will prove costly since his price has not gone up several fold.

It was claimed that Tottenham could have signed Victor Froholdt for just £5m last year, but would have to pay £20m for him this summer.

That is down to the outstanding season that the 19-year-old has had in the heart of the Copenhagen midfield, with his impressive performances seeing him break into the Danish national side.

Tottenham will not reignite their interest in Victor Froholdt

A new update from Tipsbladet has now suggested that Spurs’ interest in the teenager has waned.

It is alleged that the North London club did show serious interest in Froholdt in the past, but he is no longer near the top of their wishlist leading up to the summer transfer window.

Interestingly, the report says that this is down to the fact that a new midfielder is not a priority for Tottenham this summer since Ange Postecoglou already has Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr, James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall at his disposal.

As a result, it is claimed that Spurs have ‘no room for a large purchase’ in midfield, with Copenhagen not expecting another approach from the Premier League side for their starlet during the upcoming transfer window.

This report from Tipsbladet flies in the face of what various outlets have reported over recent weeks regarding Spurs’ plans for their midfield this summer.

It has repeatedly been claimed by the British press that Yves Bissouma is expected to leave Tottenham this summer, but it is possible that the club could recalibrate their decision on the former Brighton man, given his upturn in form recently.

Additionally, Spurs have been installed as favourites to sign Lille’s Angel Gomes, while a number of sources continue to back Tottenham to push forward with a move for Eberechi Eze.
