Tottenham Hotspur have decided whether they will give John Heitinga the reins to see them through until the end of the season.

It has been widely reported that Spurs have decided to appoint an interim head coach until the summer rather than a permanent one.

That led many to wonder if John Heintinga could be given the responsibility for the next few months, with the Tottenham first-team assistant coach having had experience of the top job at Ajax.

The 42-year-old lasted just five months at the helm of the Dutch side, and it has now been revealed whether he is in line to take charge of Spurs.

Tottenham are not considering appointing John Heitinga

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has now confirmed that Spurs are working on a temporary appointment as they attempt to pull themselves out of the relegation battle.

The journalist names the same candidates that other sources have mentioned over recent hours, but consequently, he also has an update on Heitinga.

He says that the Tottenham first-team assistant coach, who joined Thomas Frank’s coaching staff just last month, is not in frame to be handed the top job until the summer.

News has now emerged that Igor Tudor has been offered a five-month contract by Tottenham to steer the club away from relegation until the end of the season.

Interim appointment can stake their claim to become permanent Spurs boss

Alasdair Gold also has an update on Tottenham’s search for an interim, backing up what we have heard from others by stating that the club hopes to have finalised an appointment before Monday.

Gold says that the Lilywhites hierarchy is looking for a candidate who can make an ‘instant impact’ at the club.

Additionally, the journalist adds that the interim candidate will have a chance to stake their claim for the permanent Tottenham managerial role over the next few months.
