Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a potential second transfer strike on Liverpool as their talks with Andy Robertson edge closer to completion.
Based on the latest reports, the Scotland international is expected to join the Reds’ Premier League rivals before the winter transfer window closes. Robertson’s contract at Anfield will expire this summer but Spurs are eager to bring him in at this halfway point in the season.
The north London side also have their eye on another Liverpool player and they are willing to make the Premier League champions an offer.
Tottenham want to sign Curtis Jones from Liverpool
According to DaveOCKOP, Tottenham still have a ‘keen interest’ in Curtis Jones. Thomas Frank’s side had been considering the Liverpool midfielder at the same time as their pursuit of Conor Gallagher.
However, even with the former Chelsea man now on their books, Spurs remain interested in Jones. The 24-year-old has spent his entire career at Anfield so far but he is now open to a potential new challenge elsewhere.
The report claims that Spurs ‘would be willing’ to table an opening offer £30 million for Jones. Liverpool are likely going to push for a higher fee if they do entertain the idea of Jones leaving the club.
“One to watch, especially if [Adam] Wharton to Liverpool interest picks up. John Heitinga is a fan of both Jones and Robertson,” the report concludes.
Andy Robertson to Tottenham latest
Multiple reports are doing the rounds now as talks are seemingly entering an advanced stage regarding Robertson’s move to Tottenham.
According to Nicolo Schira, the Scotland national team captain ‘has an agreement in principle’ with Spurs over a deal running until 2028. His terms at Liverpool are not expected to be renewed, so Robertson is headed for the door either way.
Sky Sports have reported that the transfer package in question is worth £5 million. Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs claims Robertson is ‘keen’ on the idea of moving club but he will play his final game as a chance to say goodbye before the move fully goes through.
The left-back could say his farewells to the Liverpool fans at Anfield when the Reds host Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday. The clash will determine Liverpool’s league stage fate and whether they will be progressing into the knockouts automatically or if they will have to battle it out in the play-offs.
