Tottenham Hotspur‘s improved performances are likely to spare Igor Tudor from the sack.

That is according to former Aston Villa, Everton and Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness, who has claimed that the past two results prove Spurs’ players are fighting for the interim boss.

A 1-1 draw at Liverpool, courtesy of Richarlison’s 90th-minute equaliser, set the tone, before a valiant 3-2 victory against Atletico Madrid last time out continued the mini revival.

But having been knocked out of the Champions League, Spurs’ full focus will now turn to their Premier League survival fight, with just one point separating them from the drop zone.

A crucial six-pointer against Nottingham Forest awaits on Saturday, and Wyness believes the renewed unity at the North London club bodes very well indeed.

Igor Tudor lives to fight another day at Tottenham

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wyness said: “Interesting, isn’t it? I mean, you know, 13 key injuries for Spurs, which has been the excuse up to now.

“But then this squad turned up and really fought very hard and deserved it.

“For Igor Tudor, I think it actually saved the execution. I think the fans got behind the team as well. There are a lot of signs I’m hearing that, you know, they’ve cancelled protests.

“They’re now doing whatever it did for those three seasons of relegation. They’re deciding to get behind the squad, which is the right thing to do.

“And I think Tudor is showing signs that the squad actually are performing for him. Now that’s all that the owners could ever want at this stage.

“It wasn’t his making that the situation they’re in, but they just want to see that he’s got the squad performing. It seems that as of Sunday, they are.

“So I think he’s actually escaped to fight another day.”

Tudor does appear to have bought himself time, potentially until the end of the campaign, and matchgoers have rallied around the squad by cancelling a planned protest on Sunday.

In a similar vein, Kevin Danso shared a message to Tottenham supporters after the victory against Atletico, declaring they were “all together, always” in a display of togetherness.

Not all good news for Tudor

Preparations for the showdown against Forest were dealt a slight setback after Tudor was hit with a misconduct charge from the FA for his comments after the loss to Fulham.

Spurs went down 2-1 at Craven Cottage, and post-match, the Croat controversially accused the referee, Thomas Bramall, of favouring the hosts.

“I didn’t like the referee today, too much of a home team referee,” Tudor had told the BBC post-match, while also claiming that Bramall doesn’t understand football”.

Tottenham and Tudor have been given until Monday to respond to the charge. There are no set punishments for breaches, but Spurs will likely discover the punishment next week.

Previously, Jose Mourinho was given a one-match stadium ban while managing Chelsea in 2015 due to his criticism of officiating. Tudor will certainly want to avoid a repeat.
