Tottenham Hotspur have been decimated by injuries once again this season, and that curse is now spreading to their summer transfer targets.

Spurs have had some major issues in front of goal this season, and that is something that the club would be keen to address in the summer, having failed to do so in January.

Reports indicate that Richarlison could leave Tottenham, while it has also been suggested that the Lilywhites are not expected to sign Randal Kolo Muani permanently, which necessitates a new striker.

One man they could turn to is Porto’s Samu Aghehowa, who Spurs have reported to have made some advances towards as he continues to be prolific in front of goal in Portuguese football. Aghehowa is said to have an £87m release clause.

However, it has now been revealed by O Jogo that Aghehowa suffered a serious injury during Porto’s recent 1-1 draw with Sporting Lisbon.

The centre-forward was forced off at half-time of the game, and it has now been confirmed that he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

As a result, the striker’s season is now over. He will undergo further tests to decide whether surgery is required, but the expectation is that he will face a lengthy rehabilitation period.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report suggests that Tottenham and the Porto man’s other suitors may thus be forced to call off their pursuit of the 21-year-old.

Spurs among two leading contenders to land Serie A striker

With a move for Aghehowa now looking unlikely, the big question is which striker Tottenham would turn to in the summer.

It has been widely reported that Spurs are keeping themselves informed of the situation of Dusan Vlahovic, whose contract at Juventus runs out in June.
