Tottenham are exploring potential attacking reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window, with one Premier League forward beginning to catch the eye in North London.

The winter transfer window is fast approaching, and the Tottenham Hotspur rumour mill is beginning to gather momentum as anticipation builds.

Reports suggest that Tottenham could be in the market for a new centre-forward this winter, with several strikers already being linked with moves to North London in recent weeks.

One such forward is Dusan Vlahovic, who is said to be highly regarded by sporting director Fabio Paratici, while Tottenham have also been monitoring Rayan Viktor’s progress closely.

Tottenham monitoring Brentford forward Igor Thiago

According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham are believed to be one of several English clubs keeping a close eye on Brentford forward Igor Thiago.

The 24-year-old joined Thomas Frank’s side last summer, but injuries limited his involvement under the Dane. However, since the start of this campaign, Thiago has looked much sharper and more decisive in front of goal, scoring six times in nine Premier League appearances.

The report claims that Tottenham are monitoring the Brazilian closely, although Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also tracking him, setting the stage for a potential bidding war when the market reopens.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Newcastle are understood to be preparing a move for Thiago as they look to steal a march on their rivals, with a reported offer of €40 million (£33.8 million) being considered.

The Magpies have already done business with Brentford, having signed Yoane Wissa last summer, although the Congo international has yet to make an appearance this season due to injury.

Spurs consider move for Thiago as valuation revealed

As for Tottenham, it is claimed that Frank’s side is approaching the situation more cautiously and is instead considering a loan with an option to buy arrangement.

Spurs are said to be proposing a package worth around €35 million (£29.6 million), including performance-based add-ons, as they are reluctant to commit to a significant outlay at this stage.

It is further reported that Tottenham view Thiago as a valuable rotational option who could ease the workload on Dominic Solanke and provide greater competition in the attacking line.

Brentford, however, are not keen to part ways with their in-form striker, having only signed him last year, and should a sale be entertained, they are expected to demand a premium well above his current valuation.
