Thomas Frank was handed a big blow before his side took on Manchester City, with Djed Spence picking up a calf injury.
Facing up against Pep Guardiola’s side was never going to be an easy challenge, but the build-up of injuries currently at the club had made getting a result all the more difficult.
Spurs have been looking to spend this transfer window, but their reported deals keep on falling through. Frank admitted he wanted to sign Antoine Semenyo before he made the switch to Manchester.
It is clear that the North London side are looking to strengthen in attack, with Maghnes Akliouche a potential candidate for Tottenham.
Additionally, Raheem Sterling is among the names targeted by Spurs, but the injury to Spence could now force them to move elsewhere in the market.

Thomas Frank tipped to make defensive signing at Tottenham
Spence’s injury meant he was added to the list of Pedro Porro, Kevin Danso, Micky Van de Ven and Ben Davies as Spurs’ injury crisis at the back continues.
The build-up of injuries meant Tottenham were forced to play Joao Palhinha at centre-back, with Archie Gray covering as a right wing-back.
Frank’s problems may have later been compounded with Cristian Romero unexpectedly withdrawn at half-time in the 2-2 draw against Man City on Sunday.
The latest injury to Spence could now force Spurs’ hand, with the club tipped to make a signing before the deadline.
The Sun states that amid “Tottenham’s injury crisis”, they could “now target another defender [on Monday] given their current predicament in that area.”
The N27 outfit had been targeting Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, but the Reds are undergoing their own injury crisis at the back, and with no backup left-back secured, that move is unlikely to move forward.
However, with both Souza and Destiny Udogie available, another left-sided option seems like the least of Frank’s worries.
How long is Djed Spence injured for?
Spence looks set to be sidelined for a month with a calf issue, meaning Frank could be without a natural right-back or right wing-back until the end of February.
Porro is also set to be out for a similar period, meaning if a new signing cannot get over the line, Archie Gray could have a prolonged spell out on the wide right.
Going out and buying or even loaning a temporary solution is not usually ideal, but the Lilywhites’ injuries keep on piling up.
With results poor and performances lacking, the North London club need to give themselves the best chance of climbing up the table before it becomes too late to secure a spot in Europe next season.
