Tottenham Hotspur have been a much worse team without Mohammed Kudus.

The 25-year-old forward has been absent since early January after suffering a thigh injury, and his setback worsened the steady slide down the Premier League table.

Kudus was signed from West Ham in a £55million deal last summer and impressed for Spurs before being consigned to the treatment table, from which he is yet to return.

He registered nine goal contributions across all competitions, including six assists in the top-flight, before his fitness blow, and the club have sorely missed his creative talents.

But, in a major boost for Tottenham’s relegation fight, Kudus will soon return from injury.

When will Mohammed Kudus return for Tottenham?

According to journalist Alasdair Gold, the Ghana international is expected to be back 10 days after the current international break, having already missed a couple of months.

Kudus last featured for Spurs in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland on January 4, and his absence over the past 16 matches has coincided with the club losing 10 of them.

The attacker is now back on the grass and is expected to re-join full training with his team-mates in the not-too-distant future, although a confirmed return date has not been set.

Considering Kudus’ £150,000 per week wage totals around £7.8m for the year, Spurs will be desperate for the former Ajax man to get back fit and firing and keep them in the top-flight.

Tottenham certainly took no risks with his injury, sending him out to a specialist in Amsterdam, and it has been mooted that he could play against Sunderland on April 12.

While they will not want to rush him, he has already proven himself indispensable.

Spurs’ misfiring attack needs Kudus

Thomas Frank was made to fall on his own sword over his bland football, and Igor Tudor, who could depart by mutual consent during the international break, hasn’t fared much better.

Despite the wider tactical failings, Kudus showed promising glimpses of the electric form that convinced Spurs to splash the cash on him, picking up two assists on his debut.

In truth, Tottenham’s squad should be embarrassed by their form in Kudus’ absence. It cannot be denied that they would arguably be in a much gloomier position without him.

According to Sofascore, Kudus made 33 key passes and recorded a pass completion of 85.6 per cent before his injury, but it was his ability when running with the ball that caught the eye.

Indeed, he registered an average of 3.1 successful dribbles every match, and an impressive total of 66 over the campaign to date, which helped lead Spurs up the pitch.

Simply, they need his maverick talent to settle tight matches, with just seven remaining in their scrap to avoid dropping into the Championship. Kudus can’t return soon enough.
