Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur rejected several offers for Thompson in January, but the winger is now considering his future at the club.

While that is a smart long-term strategy, it only works if those youngsters are given the right tools to develop, and there is a clear pathway into the first team.
Tottenham have to be wary of having their young starlets poached by clubs who are willing to promise more first-team opportunities, which is a very real risk if the academy players like Thompson do not see a clear path forward at N17.
