Savinho has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham this summer.

While results on the pitch have been good off the back of Tottenham’s 2-0 win against Man City, the same cannot be said for the result of the pitch, from a recruitment perspective.

After losing out on Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, Spurs have been left in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, and with just five days left in the transfer window, time is running out.

Savinho has been a target for Tottenham, and the latest update on the Man City star could open Spurs up to ridicule.

This article includes exclusive comment from former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Savinho fee inflated by Tottenham delay

Man City signed Savinho for £30million last summer, and 12 months later, Tottenham have been linked with a near £70m move for the winger.

The Brazilian had a good campaign, but the drastic increase in his value is likely to be down to the timing of the transfer, Paul Robinson explained.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “I think Tottenham are at the risk of overpaying anyway, because of the stage of the transfer window they’re at.

“It’s been quite well documented that they were chasing Eze, and it’s no secret that Tottenham are looking for that type of player.

“So, wherever they go, they’re running the risk of paying a tax because everybody knows that they’re in the market for that type of player.”

Savinho would be a great signing, but not at £70m

Savinho registered 14 goal contributions for Man City last season, in a team that massively underperformed by all accounts.

At just 21 years old, he still has years of development ahead of him, and while that transfer value may prove its worth over time, it is a big commitment for Spurs.

His direct goal return leaves a lot to be desired, and that is something that Tottenham need to add to their squad in the final few days of the window.

It’s likely that Spurs’ ability to seal the deal could hinge on whether Man City could sign Rodrygo, which at this stage, isn’t looking overly convincing.
