Mathys Tel is pushing to leave Tottenham Hotspur and will only reconsider his stance if the club sack Thomas Frank, according to a new update from Sky Sports Germany journalist Kerry Hau.

The Frenchman had been linked with an exit in the January transfer window at the end of 2025, with starts limited under the Danish manager in recent months.

Those rumours had quietened in recent weeks with the £30m star starting four successive matches for Spurs, but he was then removed from the North London club's Champions League squad for their remaining fixtures against Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Tel Wants Out at Tottenham

According to Hau, posting on X in the hours leading up the game against Dortmund, Tel is now planning his exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Sky Sports journalist says that the only thing that would make the 20-year-old perform a U-turn on his desire to leave would be if Frank was dismissed by the Spurs hierarchy.

That decision might not be too far away and a defeat against Dortmund on Tuesday night would leave Frank in a difficult position, coming off the back of a disastrous 2-1 defeat at home to London rivals and relegation-threatened West Ham United at the weekend.

Spurs lie 14th in the Premier League table themselves and they will be without Tel as their injury-ravaged squad come up against the Bundesliga giants on Tuesday.

The French forward is said to be 'frustrated' by the omission and has instructed the club that he would like to leave on loan in this window, according to a separate report.

Tel Attracting Interest From Many Clubs

According to Hau, Paris FC are the strongest suitors for the former Bayern Munich player as things stand, but he also has interest from other French clubs, with teams from England and Spain also interested in the youngster.

One move that has been ruled out for Tel is a return to the Bundesliga, with a move there currently off the table.

Manchester United looked to be in pole position to sign the Frenchman - who wanted to move to Old Trafford - one year ago, but they couldn't agree a deal with Bayern and he moved to London instead.

Where Will Tottenham Look if They Sack Frank?

The recent appointment of John Heitinga as assistant to Frank gives them an immediate interim option should the Dane leave after the Dortmund game.

In terms of longer-term options, Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be a candidate, according to GIVEMESPORT sources, although he is unavailable until after the World Cup as he leads the USA at their home tournament.

Pochettino has claimed in recent months that he would 'love' to return to the Premier League, and he is still thought fondly of by supporters of the club.

Roberto De Zerbi and Andoni Iraola, of Marseille and Bournemouth respectively, could be two other options for Spurs, along with two recently out-of-work managers in Xabi Alonso and Enzo Maresca.
