Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing James Trafford from Manchester City at the end of the season.
They are prepared to cash in on Guglielmo Vicario, and they have identified Manchester City as his replacement. As per TEAMtalk, they are now accelerating efforts to get the deal done.
James Trafford needs a move
The 23-year-old has struggled for regular opportunities at Manchester City and needs to leave to play more often. The move to Tottenham could be ideal for him, and they could provide him with the platform to compete at a high-level regularly. Trafford has previously claimed he is “world-class”.
Trafford has previously shown his quality with Burnley, and there is no doubt that he is good enough to start every week in the Premier League. He could help them improve. However, they will need to secure safety in the Premier League if they want to attract quality players like him. The 23-year-old goalkeeper will not want to join a club in the Championship.
Multiple clubs keen on Trafford
Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also keeping tabs on his situation. Signing him will not be straightforward for the north London outfit, and they need to act quickly in order to get the deal done.
Tottenham have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it remains to be seen whether they can convince Manchester City to sell the player. Pep Guardiola’s side paid £27 million to sign the player, and they will look to recoup most of that in the summer. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Meanwhile, Vicario has made plenty of mistakes since joining the club, and he has cost the team valuable points. It would make sense for Tottenham to cash in on him and bring in an upgrade. It will be interesting to see where the Italian International ends up.
