Tottenham Hotspur have already started talks to appoint Adi Hutter as their next manager, according to L'Equipe.

Following two improved performances against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid under interim manager Igor Tudor, Tottenham were humiliated 3-0 on their own turf by relegation rivals Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Forest leapfrogged them in the table and the result left Spurs just one place and one point above the Premier League relegation zone ahead of their trip to Sunderland after the international break.

The break gives Spurs decision-makers the perfect opportunity to make a change although a decision is yet to be made, following the death of Tudor's father.

Whatever happens, it appears as though Tottenham senior officials are making contingency plans for what to do next.

Tottenham 'In Talks' With Adi Hutter

Having been knocked out of the Champions League, Tottenham now need a manager that can get them enough points to save them from dropping into the Championship - should they sack Tudor.

With West Ham United facing rock-bottom Wolves at home next after the international break, there is a real chance that Spurs could find themselves in the relegation zone unless they take all three points at the Stadium of Light.

To do that, Tottenham would need to record their first Premier League win since December 28, 2025, when they beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park.

While the likes of Harry Redknapp and Tim Sherwood have offered their services, it remains to be seen whether Spurs decide to go with someone who knows the club and the Premier League, or an experienced alternative like Hutter.

The reliable L'Equipe suggest the interest in the 56-year-old is serious given talks are already underway over the possibility of him replacing Tudor.

Hutter is Another Tudor

When you're in a Premier League relegation battle, the experiment with Tudor would suggest that you need someone with English football experience who understands the situation - especially with just seven matches to get things right.

While Hutter has impressed with the likes of RB Salzburg, Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco previously, there is no doubt that it would be another risk from the Tottenham hierarchy to bring him in now, given how Tudor has fared.

Hutter tends to favour high-intensity football in the style of a manager like Jurgen Klopp, but whether that is right for the situation Tottenham find themselves in is up for debate.

Spurs need someone who will get the fans on side immediately and connect the players and fans again to really create a siege mentality for the remainder of the campaign.

While Redknapp and Sherwood may not be the best options given how long they have been out of the game, there are other options like Ryan Mason, Robbie Keane and Chris Hughton, who is an option according to GIVEMESPORT sources, who know the club and what it means to represent Tottenham Hotspur.

That knowledge could be key to Spurs' survival hopes and, with all due respect to the qualties of Hutter, that is the route they must go down rather than taking another chance on someone who has never managed in the Premier League before over such a short period of games.
