Ten-man Tottenham claimed a morale-boosting draw at Manchester United in their last Premier League fixture as Dominic Solanke scored an injury-time equaliser.
But Spurs remain winless in the league and have to be opposed at odds of 1-2 to beat improving Coventry at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The concept of home advantage is a distant memory for Tottenham's players and supporters.
In 2024-25, they lost ten of their 19 home league fixtures on their way to a 17th-place finish.
Last season, Spurs again finished one place above the relegation zone. They beat Burnley, who ended up 19th, in their opening home game and secured their top-flight status with a 1-0 final-day win over Everton, who had nothing to play for.
Between those successes, though, Tottenham won one out of 17 matches on their own patch and they have suffered more home discomfort this term.
Roberto De Zerbi's men started brightly against Newcastle and Aston Villa before crumbling to 2-0 and 3-2 defeats and they created little in a goalless stalemate with Everton.
Results will surely improve as injuries ease and summer signings settle in but, six games into the season, Tottenham should not be 1-2 to beat any Premier League team at home.
Championship winners Coventry looked out of their depth in a 3-0 opening-night defeat at Arsenal before losing 1-0 at home to Hull in a low-quality contest.
Like Tottenham, they had a significant overhaul of the squad in the summer but Frank Lampard's men were more cohesive in defeats to Manchester City and Brighton.
They restricted City to four shots on target and just one goal at the Etihad Stadium and competed well against Brighton until striker Taiwo Awoniyi was sent off early in the second half of a harsh 5-0 loss.
Awoniyi was suspended for the trip to his former club Nottingham Forest but Jay Dasilva's classy finish secured Coventry's first top-flight win since 2001.
Last Monday they enjoyed a glorious 4-1 home victory over Newcastle in which teenagers Sidiki Cherif and Stephen Mfuni scored and Caleb Yirenkyi, 20, was excellent in central midfield.
Tottenham have the big names and the big-money signings but Coventry should be confident after their back-to-back wins and a fine performance in September's defeat at Manchester City.
The Sky Blues are capable of adding to the tension at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and their counter-attacking threat makes them a tempting price with the draw no bet.
Towering Thomas could trouble Tottenham
Coventry centre-back Bobby Thomas produced a goal-saving block to deny Newcastle's Matias Fernandez-Pardo last week and he has also caught the eye at the other end of the pitch.
Thomas's header against Blackburn in April sealed Coventry's promotion and he has had ten attempts at goal in six top-flight starts – five of them in the 1-0 loss at Manchester City.
