Conor Gallagher scored as Tottenham drew 1-1 with Getafe in a shortened behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday, still missing several key players.
The former Chelsea midfielder raced on to a loose ball and fired into the bottom corner to earn Spurs a late share of the spoils against their LaLiga opponents at Hotspur Way.
Gallagher’s equaliser came with just two minutes remaining in a game that it was agreed between the clubs beforehand would only last for 70 minutes - 35 minutes per half - at Tottenham’s training base in Enfield.
Getafe had taken the lead 15 minutes from time when young Spanish midfielder Alberto Risco played a one-two with Francisco ‘Curro’ Burgos before firing past Antonin Kinsky.
However, Spurs fought back late again, a week after Richarlison’s last-gasp effort saw them beat London rivals Chelsea 2-1 in the Sydney Super Cup to close their successful tour of New Zealand and Australia despite the quick-fire dismissal of Kevin Danso.
Richarlison almost repeated those heroics against Getafe, but his header in the final seconds was saved by David Soria, who had denied the Brazilian in similar circumstances earlier in the second half as Tottenham’s appeals that the ball had crossed the line were waved away.
Tottenham remain unbeaten during a promising first pre-season campaign under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who also guided his side to a 2-0 win over Auckland FC and penalty shootout victory against Sydney FC Down Under.
Spurs kicked off their summer with another behind-closed-doors game at Hotspur Way, with debutant Mateus Fernandes scoring a brilliant goal as third-tier MK Dons were beaten 1-0.
Tottenham face Hoffenheim at the same venue next Sunday, 24 hours after first meeting the Bundesliga outfit in an initial friendly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They begin the new Premier League season away at Brentford on August 22.
New signings Sandro Tonali, Jan Paul van Hecke and Andy Robertson all started against Getafe, with Archie Gray once again taking the captain’s armband in the absence of centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, while Guglielmo Vicario was an unused substitute.
There were also starts for the wantaway midfielder Lucas Bergvall and young winger Mikey Moore, who is expected to join German side Cologne on a season-long loan.
Van de Ven - who has agreed a new five-year contract at Spurs - is still awaiting his first outing of pre-season after returning from World Cup duty with the Netherlands, while Fernandes also did not face Getafe having missed the final two games of Tottenham’s tour with a calf issue.
James Maddison - who missed most of last season with a serious knee injury - has also not featured for Tottenham so far this summer amid reports over a hip problem, while Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke also remained absent on Saturday.
Long-term absentees Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski were pictured running together in training last week, but the latter remains some way off a return to match action following a patella injury that has kept him sidelined since May 2025.
