Tottenham Hotspur are set to hold 'serious' talks to sign another West Ham United star after sealing an agreement for Mateus Fernandes and as they continue to work on a deal for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Tottenham reached a major breakthrough in their summer transfer plans on Tuesday when it was confirmed that they had agreed a £85m deal to sign Fernandes from their London neighbours, seeing off competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United for the Portugal international's signature.

Spurs have already signed Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka on free transfers this summer, with Jan Paul van Hecke also joining in a deal worth just over £50m from Brighton and Hove Albion.

After reaching an agreement to sign Fernandes, subject to the 21-year-old passing his medical, Roberto De Zerbi also wants Spurs to complete a deal for Tonali too, which will likely break their transfer record again.

With the defence and midfield looking to be sorted should they get a transfer for the Italy international over the line, attention is likely to turn to strengthening an attack that has already been weakened numbers wise by the exit of Randal Kolo Muani following an underwhelming loan spell.

Tottenham Planning Summerville Talks

According to Harry Hotspur, Tottenham chiefs are far from done this summer even if they do land Tonali after Fernandes.

The report says that the next piece of the puzzle for De Zerbi is West Ham winger Summerville, with 'serious' talks set to open between the two clubs for the £50m-rated star once the Irons have been given time to deal with life after their Portugal international.

De Zerbi is said to particularly like the 24-year-old because his direct dribbling and work rate suit his system, meaning he would be able to rotate with the other wide players in the team.

Summerville would likely provide strong competition on the left-hand side for Mathys Tel, given he is a right-footed left-winger.

Tottenham Open Talks Over Signing Croatian Star

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Tottenham have also asked for information about a deal to sign Como and Croatia star Martin Baturina.

The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best playmakers in Serie A, and announced himself on the global stage with a stunning goal in his nation's 4-2 defeat to England at this summer's World Cup.

The Croatian is said to be valued at £70m by the Champions League new-boys, but they also have no intention of selling him this summer as they look to make a splash in Europe's elite club competition under Cesc Fabregas next term.

It's also difficult to see where Baturina would fit in should he arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, given the two central midfield spots could be taken up by Fernandes and Tonali.

That would potentially leave the likes of Lucas Bergvall, James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus and even Dejan Kulusevski battling for the No.10 spot, with De Zerbi already facing a decision on who his first-choice there will be, even with the possible addition of Baturina.
