Thomas Frank will hope to record some emphatic victories in the Premier League with Tottenham.

Tottenham have been a consistent presence in the Premier League since it was formed in 1992.

While the Lilywhites have never won the competition, they have come close, finishing second in the 2016/17 season and third on a couple of occasions.

However, last season marked Spurs’ worst-ever in the Premier League as they set a record for the most number of defeats (22) for a side that wasn’t relegated.

Despite winning the UEFA Europa League with Ange Postecoglou, Spurs’ awful form in the league saw them finish 17th, just one spot above the relegation zone.

As a result, Frank will be looking to improve on that this season and will need some big wins to do that.

Here, Tottenham News takes a look back at five of Spurs’ heaviest wins in the Premier League era.

Scoring six or more goals away from home in the Premier League is an impressive feat, and that is something which Tottenham did in four of the five wins on this list, an achievement Frank will look to emulate.

The first game takes us back to Goodison Park in the 2018/19 season, when Mauricio Pochettino was at the helm.

Tottenham fans will remember this campaign for their famous run in the UEFA Champions League. However, there were some memorable Premier League matches too, including the 6-2 win over Everton.

The Toffees actually took the lead in this clash through ex-Arsenal man Theo Walcott in the 21st minute, but Tottenham were level six minutes later through Son Heung-min before Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen got in on the act to put Spurs 4-1 up.

Everton pulled a goal back early in the second half, but Son and Kane responded by grabbing their braces to secure an emphatic win on the road for the Lilywhites.

Spurs’ most famous outing at Old Trafford came during the 2020/21 season, which was played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While there were no fans in attendance on the day, Spurs supporters will still look back on this demolition of Manchester United fondly.

Jose Mourinho was in the dugout at the time in North London, and he no doubt would have enjoyed this statement victory against his former club more than most.

Just like against Everton, Tottenham actually went behind early on as Bruno Fernandes scored from the spot in the second minute. However, Tanguy Ndombele equalised two minutes later, and from that point onward, the visitors never looked back.

Son and Kane both scored a second, with Serge Aurier finding the net in between the two Tottenham legends’ strikes, as United were humiliated in their own backyard.

Same scoreline, different stadium.

After it had been confirmed that Chelsea were Premier League champions and Tottenham could no longer catch them, many might have expected Spurs to fade away in the final two games of the season.

Instead, they recorded two of their heaviest wins in Premier League history.

The first came against the previous season’s Premier League winners, Leicester City, at the King Power Stadium, where Kane scored four times to fire himself back into contention for the Golden Boot.

Son got the other two, while Ben Chilwell netted for the hosts, and three days later, Spurs would record an even greater victory.

On the final day of the 2016/17 season, Kane scored a hat-trick to retain the Premier League Golden Boot.

It was the England international’s fifth, sixth and seventh goals that week after the thrashing of Leicester.

Alli, Victor Wanyama, Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld completed the rout at the KCOM Stadium as Tottenham confirmed a second-place finish and their highest-ever Premier League points tally (86).

Spurs’ biggest win in Premier League history, and finally a game at home.

In the 2009/10 season, Jermain Defoe made history by becoming the only player ever in the Premier League to score five goals in one half.

At half-time, it was only 1-0 to the hosts after Petr Crouch had opened the scoring at White Hart Lane.

Instead, Defoe completed his hat-trick in the 58th minute, and after two more strikes from the Englishman and goals from Aaron Lennon, David Bentley and Niko Krancjar, Spurs had recorded their biggest-ever top-flight win, and biggest win since a 9-0 victory against Bristol Rovers in 1977.
