Everton are keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma in the summer transfer window as David Moyes looks to improve his squad.
The Scot is eager to add more bodies to an Everton squad that is set to lose several players in the next month, including two midfielders.
Abdoulaye Doucoure has confirmed his Everton departure, while Orel Mangala will return to his parent club after spending the season on loan.
David Moyes has now turned his attention to Yves Bissouma, who he is believed to be very interested in. However, Moyes must act fast as it was reported that Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have made an offer for Bissouma, which is believed to be a loan deal with a buy option in 2026.
Everton fans are eager to sign Bissouma, a clear message to Moyes that he is the right person to replace the likes of Doucoure and Mangala.
With the 28-year-old on Everton’s radar, who are the winners and losers if the deal goes through?
David Moyes – Winner
Eager to improve multiple positions in his squad, Moyes will be delighted if he can get Bissouma through the door.
There is no reported price tag at the moment, but Bissouma will surely be affordable this summer, another bonus for Moyes.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Everton have as much as £100m to spend this summer meaning they should be able to improve all the positions they need, especially if they can get Bissouma on a cut-price deal.
Additionally, Bissouma is a perfect replacement for both Mangala and Doucoure and his wages should also be on the lower end, having earned £55,000-a-week at Tottenham according to Capology.
James Garner – Loser
In the 2024/25 campaign, James Garner was limited to 21 Premier League appearances, with less than half of them being in the starting XI.
The 24-year-old has shown his quality under Moyes, but the signing of Bissouma would only make him fall further down the pecking order.
Moyes has been frustrated with Garner this season having been seen looking visibly furious on the touchline whenever the midfielder has made a mistake during a game.
Garner should be worried by Everton’s Bissouma links as it puts his future at the club in serious doubt. The Englishman seems content playing as a squad player for now, but there is no knowing whether that will be the same next season.
Idrissa Gana Gueye – Winner
At 35, Idrissa Gana Gueye is ready to slow down and become more of a utility player where required.
Although he is out of contract in the summer, there are rumours that Gueye has signed a new deal with Everton, keeping him on Merseyside for at least another year.
Signing Bissouma allows Gueye to become more of a utility player who can come on to change a game or provide more energy to the defence if Everton are holding onto a lead.
Additionally, Bissouma would be able to do a lot of the running for Everton, saving Gueye’s legs if he were to start.
With Gueye expected to stay at Everton, Bissouma joining would mean there is more depth in midfield in case anyone else gets injured.
Matt O’Riley – Loser
While not an Everton player, the Toffees are believed to be interested in bringing the midfielder to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.
Everton fans are keen to sign Matt O’Riley, but it may be a case of too many cooks if they were to sign him and Bissouma.
After Carlos Alcaraz signed for Everton permanently, another two midfielders would make the position overcrowded and surely leave some players unhappy.
