Journalist Ben Jacobs has now provided a positive update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze, revealing what the attacking midfielder has informed his England teammates of his transfer desire.
Tottenham fans were delighted to see their side make a winning start to the season on Saturday, with the Lilywhites making easy work of Burnley in Thomas Frank’s first Premier League game in charge of the club.
In the hours following the 3-0 win, the supporters became even more excited as it was widely reported that Eze is now close to completing a move to Spurs.
Tottenham Hotspur looked formidable going forward against the Clarets, and the prospect of adding the Palace star to the attack is certainly a tantalising one. It appears that the 27-year-old expects the move to go through.
What Eberechi Eze has told his England teammates about Tottenham move
It has now been revealed by journalist Ben Jacobs on talkSPORT that Eze has reached an agreement with Spurs and is now waiting for the North London club to strike a deal with Palace.
The report claims that Tottenham are looking to pay around £60m for the 28-year-old, whose £68m release clause expired on Friday.
Most interestingly, it is alleged that the former QPR man has already informed his England teammates that he expects his move to Spurs to go through.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Eze wants to play Champions League football and remain in London, which is why a move to Tottenham is very appealing for him.
Eze will play against Chelsea this afternoon
While Jacobs says in the report that the Tottenham target is likely to miss Crystal Palace’s season opener, that appears to have changed since this morning.
Several sources, including David Ornstein, are now reporting that Eze is expected to feature against Chelsea this afternoon, even though Tottenham’s pursuit of the midfielder is still ongoing.
That suggests that a deal may not be as close as previously thought, and Spurs still have work to do to get the transfer over the line.
