Manchester United remain in pole position for Bryan Mbeumo despite Tottenham’s record-breaking bid for the Brentford star.
Just yesterday, it was revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, with reports suggesting that Spurs have submitted a bid for Mbeumo.
It is understood to be a £70 million offer, with Tottenham proposing to pay £65 million upfront and a further £5 million in add-ons, which is £10 million more than Manchester United’s reported £55 million plus £5 million package.
Tottenham are believed to be in the market for a marquee signing this summer, and with the Lilywhites reportedly willing to offer a fee that would quite literally make Mbeumo their most expensive signing in history, it is clear they have identified him as their priority target.
Tottenham face competition from Manchester United for Bryan Mbeumo
However, while an offer has been made to Brentford, Tottenham still have their work cut out for them, as new reports suggest that securing Mbeumo’s services this summer will be far from straightforward.
Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg has now confirmed that Spurs‘ interest in Mbeumo is genuine, with the club, under new manager Thomas Frank, attempting to convince the Brentford winger to make the move to north London.
Yet it is said that Manchester United have already entered into negotiations with Brentford, and that Mbeumo has given his approval to the move, with a verbal agreement reportedly already in place with United.

Spurs fall behind in Mbeumo pursuit due to wage demands
It was reported a few days ago that while Tottenham do have an interest in signing Mbeumo, the sticking point for Spurs may be in agreeing on personal terms with Bryan Mbeumo.
Manchester United are understood to be offering a wage package that would see Mbeumo earn well in excess of £200,000 per week, while Tottenham are prepared to offer £150,000 a week.
If personal terms have indeed already been agreed with the winger, then it likely points to Tottenham being unwilling to meet the player’s demands, while United have shown they are ready to do so.
