It has been suggested by Alasdair Gold that, despite suggestions to the contrary in the media, we might not see Fabio Paratici returning to Tottenham in an official role over the coming weeks.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that many outlets have insisted over the last couple of weeks that it is only a matter of time before Paratici returns to Tottenham in an official role.

The Italian’s FIFA ban expires next month and he is expected to make a swift return to his old club, with some reports indicating that Paratici will spearhead Tottenham’s new era alongside Daniel Levy and new CEO Vinai Venkatesham.

However, it has now emerged that an official announcement about Paratici’s return may not be as close as some Spurs fans might have expected.

Fabio Paratici is unlikely to take up a formal Tottenham role

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed why an official change of role for the 52-year-old may not be as inevitable this summer as some sources suggest.

He points out that even though Paratici’s FIFA ban is about to expire, the trial in Italy regarding Juventus’ capital gains scandal is still ongoing in the background.

The journalists suggested that until there is further clarity on that trail, the Italian is likely to remain in the background and advise the club in a consultancy role.

Paratici could be calling the shots despite being a consultant on paper

One can argue that it matters very little when Tottenham officially announce a change in Paratici’s role into a full-time, formal one.

Even as a consultant on paper, the Italian may already be calling the shots on the club’s key decisions, given the relationship and trust he has forged with Daniel Levy.
