Tottenham and Arsenal are both circling Eberechi Eze this summer, but a fresh update has tipped the likely winner in the race to sign the Crystal Palace star.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to push hard for the signing of Eberechi Eze in this transfer window as they remain focused on strengthening their options in the number ten role.

It is no surprise that Spurs are so intent on adding the Palace playmaker, given that James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are both sidelined with injuries that could keep them out for a lengthy spell.

The north London side have tracked Eze for several windows now and, after years of speculation, this summer could finally bring a conclusion to a long-running transfer saga.

Tottenham ahead of Arsenal in Eberechi Eze chase

Arsenal are also monitoring Eberechi Eze, but their position is far less straightforward, with reports indicating that they would need to move players on before launching a formal bid.

Football Insider has revealed that the Gunners would have to sell at least one of Leandro Trossard or Reiss Nelson before making their move, which leaves Tottenham in a stronger position for the moment.

Sharing more details on the situation, Pete O’Rourke has told Football Insider that Spurs remain at the front of the queue.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said: “Tottenham have rekindled their interest in Eze. They were the ones who have always been the front-runners over the last couple of transfer windows.

“It seems Spurs have been pushing to bring the player to the club. Arsenal have showed interest this summer, but it is a case for them of offloading a few players from the squad before they can move forward with a deal for Eze.

“There has been talk that they want to offload the likes of Reiss Nelson and Leandro Trossard.

“That gives Spurs the advantage right now, they are looking to steal a march on Arsenal and get a deal done for Eze, but it will not be easy to do.

“His release clause is soon to expire and it is still expensive at £68million. With James Maddison picking up that potentially season-ending injury, Tottenham do need a new number ten.

“Palace do not want to lose Eze, Oliver Glasner wants to keep hold of his best players. If Tottenham come up with an offer, it will be up to Palace what they want to do with it. Eze does have options, but it seems Tottenham are ahead of Arsenal right now.”

Spurs agree on personal terms with Eze

Fabrizio Romano has since added further clarity to the situation by providing an update on Eberechi Eze’s future amid links to Tottenham.

The transfer insider revealed that Spurs are actively working to secure a deal with Crystal Palace, with negotiations ongoing between the two clubs.
