Will Lankshear only increased his chances of a Tottenham Hotspur opportunity next season in Oxford United’s 4-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
The 19-year-old is one of the most highly rated youngsters at Hotspur Way and was sent to the Yellows to get more senior experience, but could not stop them from getting relegated.
He has notched 12 goals and four assists in 46 matches in all competitions so far this season, which is very promising ahead of his return to North London.
When the new season comes around, he has to be given a chance to break through by Roberto De Zerbi after a superb campaign.
Tottenham are desperate for attacking options, and they may not have to dip into the market to find one.

How did Lankshear perform in Oxford United win?
Lankshear has proven that he is ready to step up for Tottenham, as a backup option at the very least.
In the clash against the already relegated side, he had just 27 touches, per Fotmob, but he still made an impact.
The 21-year-old notched two goals and an assist in the victory, which was the headline creator, but his underlying numbers were just as impressive.
He created two chances for his teammates, had three shots on target, and was a handful all afternoon for the Kassam Stadium side.
He took six touches in the opposition box, made one pass into the final third, and recorded a 73 per cent pass accuracy.
Lankshear also won three of four ground duels, for a 75 per cent success rate, showing that he is not afraid to get stuck in.
That attitude and ability should fit right in under De Zerbi.
Why Lankshear could have a starting spot next season
There should be a spot for Lankshear after yesterday’s scenes in the Championship.
It is likely that there will be, as Richarlison has constantly been linked with a summer exit, and Randal Kolo Muani is set to return to Juventus from his loan.
Dominic Solanke has injury issues that don’t seem to be going away, as he was taken off against Wolves, which could even leave the young forward in a starting spot at the start of next season, if they don’t sign someone else.
