Standing up to racial abuse

You may have noticed that some teams are huddling together before kick-off in a show of unity in their battle against racism, marking Black History Month.
It is a player-led decision and was demonstrated before Manchester Cityâs victory over Arsenal last night at Joie Stadium.
City defender Kerstin Casparij posted on Instagram last night: âNo-one wins while racism plays on. Racial abuse isnât just one playersâ burden - itâs our battle. To protect the game we must first protect each other.â
WSL Football have offered all clubs the decision on whether they want to take a knee but some, after the Lionessesâ decision in the summer to âstand upâ to racism, have followed suit.
Tottenham forward Jess Naz and England defender Jess Carter are among those to have suffered racial abuse in recent months.
