Xavi Simons’ deadline day arrival at Tottenham had fans excited to see what he can bring to their team.

Simons has been touted as a wonderkid since his time at PSG and Barcelona; he is a player destined for the top for a long time.

Despite being linked with other players for most of the summer transfer window, the arrival of Simons can prove to be a revelation for Thomas Frank’s side.

Simons impressed Tottenham fans as he made his debut in the 3-0 win against West Ham on Saturday, notching an assist in the process.

What Simons does best when going forward is clearly starting to work already at Spurs, as the Tottenham coaching staff want Simons’ creative spark to shine.

How Xavi Simons excelled against West Ham

While many of the plaudits have rightfully gone to players such as Mohammed Kudus, adding another pacey attacker to the Tottenham team will make them even more dangerous.

Like Simons on Saturday, Kudus had a massively impressive debut against Burnley in the first game of the Premier League season.

Tottenham ran rampant against West Ham with goals from Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, and Micky Van de Ven.

According to Sofascore, he managed to complete 84 per cent of his passes.

The Dutch ace also had a 0.03 xG, had 0.07 expected assists. He also completed the only dribble he attempted and won one foul.

Off the ball, Simons won three ground duels and won two aerial duels.

Simons is exactly what Tottenham needed

Simons is a player with so much potential, and considering how good Frank is at improving young players, he will be an amazing coach for the attacker to have.

The lack of midfield creativity is what stood out as the weakness for Tottenham in that game, and having a player now like Simons, who can create as an attacking midfielder.

And that’s what this team is crying out for now that James Maddison will be out for some time.

His debut shows signs of promise, even though he started out on the left, that flexibility will only allow for more ways for Tottenham to attack.
