Tottenham Hotspur Are Showing Interest In This Bournemouth Defender: What Will He Bring To North London? - Yahoo Sports
Description

In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring the Argentine centre-back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Senesi’s Impressive Form In English Football

Senesi has enjoyed a solid campaign at the English club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 29-year-old has made 37 appearances for Bournemouth this season, securing five assists in the process across all competitions. However, he is yet to open his goal-scoring account for this campaign.

The Argentine talent is currently one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that Spurs are in the running to land him in this upcoming transfer window.

His current contract at the Vitality Stadium will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for Tottenham to sign him on a free transfer this summer.

What Will Senesi Bring To Tottenham Hotspur?

Senesi loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and excels at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.84m, the Argentine sensation can be quite competitive in the air. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham if they can devise a way to get a deal done for him at the end of this season.

We can expect Senesi to bring more bite and steel to Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi’s backline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the long run.

At 29, Senesi is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the North London club to pursue later this year. Furthermore, he is on an expiring contract, so he would serve as an affordable option for the North London club to pursue in this summer transfer window.

Why Nicolo Fagioli will solve Tottenham’s midfield issues

Why Nicolo Fagioli will solve Tottenham’s midfield issues - Yahoo Sports
Description

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur have identified Nicolò Fagioli as a possible target for the summer.

The 25-year-old has just completed his first full season at Fiorentina after his €13.5m switch from Juventus. Having secured top-flight status after flirting with relegation for most of the season, La Viola consider Fagioli a crucial part of their plans, though they will struggle to reject big-money offers.

The Italy international has three more years remaining on his Fiorentina contract, which fetches him €1.8 million annually after tax. Juventus also stand to earn 10% of the fee Fiorentina would get if they move Fagioli on.

Fagioli fits the profile Spurs need

If Spurs are to land a player of Fagioli’s pedigree, they’re going to have to ensure Premier League survival, which as things stand is not a bygone conclusion.

Regardless of whether they stay up or not, the Lilywhites will go into the summer needing to make wholesale changes and practically start anew to plan their way back into the top half of the English top flight.

On the pitch, Fagioli does the profile Spurs need. Of many things that have hurt them this season, their midfield’s all-round ineptitude has been one of them. From keeping possession, dictating the tempo, being the cohesive unit to support both attack and defence, to hamper the opposition’s chances of building up play — Spurs’ players in the middle have thoroughly disappointed across all departments.

Of course, their injury issues have not helped. But both injuries and the lack of reliable deep-lying midfield operator are matters they have been dealing with for a few years now.

Having a reliable midfield general is a major cornerstone of any successful team in any context, so Spurs do need a solution for that position, and Fagioli would be a good fit. However, their survival in the Premier League will singlehandedly dictate their ability to go after him and players of his ilk.

I’m a Spurs fan who cheered for Arsenal to win – I feel ashamed - Yahoo Sports
Description

I think it was the fact that they were wearing white shirts that made it easier to swallow my pride and over thirty years of loathing and decide to support Arsenal for the day. In fact, after a while, with the chances clocking up and the West Ham woodwork rattling in the first twenty minutes, it was even possible to slightly enjoy the game, willing West Ham to lose, even if it meant a step towards the title for the Woolwich. During what for the Arsenal fans must have been an agonising VAR check in the dying minutes, all I could think of was, if it was going to be a draw, a 96th-minute West Ham equaliser would be the most deliciously sickening way for it to happen. But thankfully/sadly it was not to be.

Some two hours earlier, as I cycled with my son the 10 minutes down Tottenham High Road to the pub, I was still grappling with the kind of dilemma that is obviously on one level entirely ridiculous and trivial, but at the same time entirely inescapable. It is not so much a question of whether I think it would be better that Arsenal win or for them to hilariously bottle it yet again; it is more that I was worried about how I would feel when they inevitably scored, probably from a corner, maybe with some skilfully underhand grappling involved. Would I celebrate and if so, how? A mournful fist pump? A slight raise of an eyebrow? A weak smile and a stare into the middle distance? And more to the point, how would I be able to look my son in the eye?

In a season that has moved from disappointing to alarming, and then on to a carousel of slapstick mishaps, defensive comedies of errors and finally maturing into a growing sense of panic and desperation, there’s been one bright spot: my son has started to embrace the deeply immature tribalism of supporting a football club, and more importantly, understanding the hierarchy of who we dislike and how much. Arsenal first, due their proximity and their temerity in moving from Woolwich; Chelsea, for obvious reasons; and then in third place, West Ham, mainly because they hate us. His current favourite hobby is to point out people wearing Arsenal shirts and then boo them to himself, or else letting me know so I can share in his scorn. I couldn’t be prouder of the lad.

I have a particularly vivid memory of watching a game with my dad at the new White Hart Lane (I still struggle to call it The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium) a couple of years ago when my son was still a toddler; we were sat in the corner directly above the away section and, when Spurs had come from behind to lead 2-1, I saw a grown man ushering his young son all the way down the steps to overlook the mutinous away fans and then proceed to not only make unprintably crude gestures with his right hand, but teaching and encouraging his son to do so too. I’m not quite sure I want to take it that far, but it certainly seemed like a powerful bonding moment for the two of them.

And now, after a season of shaping my son’s loathing of Arsenal, this is where Spurs’ well-documented run of poor form has led us: sat in the spacious beer garden of The Beehive, that almost exactly a year ago was rammed nine deep at the bar, standing room only, for the Europa League final. Now, I am sat here on a cold Sunday afternoon, with a mounting sense of dread as West Ham attack midway through the second half, with a pint of amber ale, a half of pineapple juice, and a vague sense of shame that I actively want Arsenal to win.

But ultimately, when it comes to the crunch, I have no apologies for holding my nose, swallowing my pride, and feeling a deep sense of a relief heading into Monday’s game against Leeds. I might even have let out a muted cheer when Trossard’s shot hit the net on 83 minutes. It would be foolish to ignore the warnings of history: Leeds 2004, Sunderland 2016 or Leicester 2023; there’s always further to fall.

And so, after possibly the most consequential VAR goal check in Premier League history, I am deeply grateful to the interventions of Stockley Park that hopefully help us to avoid the most humiliating relegation in recent memory. And whoever mutters “The game’s gone” into their pint with a sad shake of the head is definitely not at the sharp end of a relegation dogfight. Onwards and up the spurs!

Tottenham got exactly what they needed for Premier League safety in the worst possible way

Tottenham got exactly what they needed for Premier League safety in the worst possible way - Yahoo Sports
Description

It is never the wish of a true Tottenham Hotspur fan to want to see Arsenal win, but Thomas Frank and the horrendous Spurs board put the club in the incredibly uncomfortable position of needing the Gunners to beat their lesser rivals West Ham United in order to give them a vital boost in the relegation battle. Short of a calamity involving a disgraceful point deduction for both parties, perhaps the ideal emotional result for a Tottenham fan was a draw between West Ham and Arsenal, preceded by a win for Tottenham on Monday Night Football against Leeds United.

But since Tottenham fans have to swallow their pride and put any dreams of a historic bottle job from Arsenal in the Premier League title race on the back burner, the priority is survival and therefore was a West Ham loss at all costs.

Of course, Arsenal didn't make it look any bit easy, but the league leaders were able to get their customary, ugly 1-0 win over an inferior opponent, scraping past the Hammers to ensure Tottenham still have a point advantage over them in the Premier League relegation battle.

Tottenham are so close to safety

So now, Tottenham Hotspur can go four points clear in the relegation fight and just three behind their opponents tomorrow, Leeds, who have, along with Nottingham Forest, wrapped up Premier League safety at this point. And now that West Ham have lost, if Tottenham can keep their winning streak going, they will be on the sweet, sweet precipice of safety themselves.

It is incredible looking back at how things have changed for Tottenham in the past several weeks since the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi over the previous international break. Spurs have gone from the team nobody backed to beat anyone, including the league's worst team Wolves, and on a winless streak of nearly 15 games that was capitalized by a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Now, Tottenham can beat Aston Villa and are backed to win any game against remotely even opposition, Leeds United included. No Spurs fan will be celebrating the win Arsenal had over West Ham, but this three points for the Gunners and zero for the Hammers is a necessary evil that puts Spurs so close to safety, they can taste it. But in the backdrop, it really is a failure of the organization that it had to come to this; Spurs needing help from Arsenal beating West Ham along the way.

Alan Shearer is singing a different tune about Tottenham with major prediction

Alan Shearer is singing a different tune about Tottenham with major prediction - Yahoo Sports
Description

It is all on the line every single time Tottenham Hotspur step out on the pitch, as they are in a tooth and nail Premier League relegation fight with West Ham United. Although Nottingham Forest and Leeds United may still be mathematically in the battle, these two sides have done enough to pull away to the point where Spurs only hope is to keep above West Ham at all costs.

While Arsenal can help Tottenham out by winning against the Hammers this weekend, Spurs fans have learned to never count on anyone else for help, least of all Arsenal. And no true Spur will ever root for Arsenal to get a result anywhere, even if their main priority at this point is Premier League survival - Arsenal bottling the league to Manchester City would merely be a dessert to the main course.

On Monday Night Football, Tottenham will do direct battle with Leeds in a head to head relegation battle, and they will need to do much better than they did in their last direct relegation match, which was a 3-0 shellacking at the hands of Nottingham Forest before the international break which ended up being Igor Tudor's final game in the manager's seat.

Tottenham are favorites again

But Tottenham are a much better team now than then. They are night and day after the hiring of Roberto De Zerbi, who broke up a winless streak of 15 games, with the 2-2 draw against Brighton serving as the turning point to start a three game streak without a defeat.

Legendary Premier League striker and pundit Alan Shearer sounds like he is becoming a believer in the Spurs cause, and he predicts Tottenham Hotspur to beat Leeds United on Monday, citing their recent upturn in form. And he also heaped some deserved praise on Roberto De Zerbi.

Shearer said of Spurs, via Chris Cowlin, "Leeds are going to play a huge part in who gets relegated, because they play both Spurs and West Ham. It's fascinating, but I think with what I saw from Spurs last week, they may just have enough now to stay up. And I guess with the energy that they showed the other day, I think they'll have enough to beat Leeds at home. Spurs to win. Roberto De Zerbi has got a shift out of those players, and you didn't see any of that six or seven weeks ago. It looks like a brilliant move now to bring De Zerbi in when they did, that's the reason why they did it then, it was to get something different out of the players that they had not been showing, and it looks as if he's getting that difference now, which they've not had for large parts of this season, or for any of the season."

Now top pundits are picking Tottenham in games, whereas a mere few weeks ago, you had the likes of Jamie Carragher openly wondering if Spurs could beat anyone, including the worst team in the league, Wolves. Well, Tottenham shut them out, they upset Aston Villa last weekend, and now it's time to pick up three more points againts Leeds.

Arsenal and Tottenham Set for Wesley Transfer Battle as Livramento Domino Effect Emerges

There is something about the way elite clubs move through the transfer market when uncertainty begins to spread. One enquiry sparks another. One failed pursuit opens a different door. Suddenly, a player who was quietly progressing in Serie A becomes the focus of a Premier League arms race.

That is where Wesley now finds himself.

The Roma wing-back has become one of the most talked-about defenders in Europe after a breakthrough campaign in Italy, and both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are circling ahead of the summer window.

According to the original source at TEAMtalk, Wesley’s future could ultimately depend on what happens with Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento, another player attracting serious interest from the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

Wesley’s rise has been rapid. After stepping into Flamengo’s senior side in 2023, the Brazilian made 136 first-team appearances before earning a move to AS Roma last summer in a deal worth around £26 million. Since then, his value has soared.

Italian outlet Calciomercato described his debut season in Serie A as “nothing short of astonishing”, a verdict that reflects just how quickly the 22-year-old has adapted to European football.

Photo IMAGO

Livramento Situation Could Shape Arsenal Plans

Transfer windows are often decided by timing rather than preference. Arsenal’s interest in Wesley appears closely linked to the chase for Tino Livramento.

Manchester City remain heavily interested in the Newcastle full-back, while Arsenal and Chelsea are also monitoring developments. If City succeed in prising Livramento away from St James’ Park, it could trigger a chain reaction that sends Arsenal directly towards Wesley.

That possibility makes this story especially intriguing.

Mikel Arteta has been searching for tactical flexibility in his defensive line, and Wesley offers exactly that. Naturally a right-back, he has also excelled as a wing-back on both flanks for Roma this season. In modern football, where positional fluidity often determines whether a side can dominate elite matches, that versatility carries enormous value.

The Brazilian has delivered five goals and two assists in 37 appearances during his first campaign in Italy, helping Roma push for Champions League qualification in Serie A. Those numbers only tell part of the story. His acceleration, recovery pace and willingness to drive into attacking spaces have caught the attention of scouts across Europe.

TEAMtalk also reports that Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Newcastle United have all tracked Wesley closely this season.

Tottenham Seek Defensive Upgrade

For Tottenham, the appeal is equally obvious.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have often looked vulnerable in defensive transition, particularly against opponents capable of attacking quickly into wide areas. Wesley’s athletic profile fits the aggressive style Tottenham want to build around.

Spurs were previously linked with the defender earlier this year when Roma became open to player sales in order to finance attacking reinforcements. That interest has not disappeared.

There is also the north London rivalry factor. Arsenal and Tottenham competing for the same player always sharpens the narrative, especially when the player involved possesses such obvious upside.

At 22, Wesley is still developing tactically, but his ceiling appears exceptionally high. Brazilian full-backs traditionally combine technical quality with attacking bravery, and Wesley belongs firmly within that tradition. What has impressed observers in Italy, though, is how quickly he has adapted defensively.

Serie A remains one of football’s most tactically demanding leagues. Young defenders are exposed immediately if their positioning or decision-making is flawed. Wesley has not merely survived there. He has thrived.

Ben White Exit Rumours Add Fresh Twist

Arsenal’s growing interest in Wesley also arrives amid continuing uncertainty surrounding Ben White.

Reports earlier this spring suggested Arsenal were prepared to sanction White’s departure if the right offer arrived, prompting Arteta and sporting staff to assess several potential replacements. Wesley is understood to be among the leading names on that shortlist.

What makes the situation compelling is the scale of financial growth involved. Wesley joined Roma less than a year ago for around £26 million. His valuation has now reportedly climbed beyond £52 million.

That is the modern market in miniature. Young, adaptable defenders with elite athletic traits are becoming some of football’s most valuable commodities.

Whether Arsenal or Tottenham eventually win the race may depend less on direct negotiations and more on the movement surrounding Livramento. If Newcastle refuse to sell, the market could shift again. If City press ahead aggressively, alternative targets will immediately become priority signings elsewhere.

For now, Wesley sits at the centre of one of the summer’s most fascinating transfer chains, with Arsenal and Tottenham both aware that hesitation could prove costly.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur – Predicted lineup and team news - Yahoo Sports
Description

Aston Villa aim to finalise their Champions League qualification when they host Tottenham at Villa Park on Sunday.

Unai Emery has been superb at juggling European and domestic duties throughout this season. Villa have won 9 of 12 league matches immediately after a Europa League fixture. They currently hold a seven-point lead over sixth-placed Brentford in the table. A victory today would guarantee their place in Europe’s elite competition next term.

Aston Villa team news

Amadou Onana is definitely ruled out for Sunday’s visit of the North London side. The Belgian midfielder underwent a scan after his early withdrawal against Nottingham Forest. Emery confirmed his absence during Friday’s press briefing at Bodymoor Heath. The manager described the situation as difficult for the squad’s midfield depth.

Boubacar Kamara joins Onana on the sidelines with a long-term injury. That said, Ross Barkley and Alysson are back in contention for the starting lineup. Both players were ineligible for the Europa League squad on Thursday night. Their return provides much-needed energy as the Lions navigate a congested fixture list.

Emery expects a scan to reveal the true consequences of Onana’s physical issue. The hosting manager must find tactical solutions for his tired midfield unit. Ollie Watkins remains the primary attacking threat for the home side. He has scored ten of his eleven league goals since the start of December.

Aston Villa predicted lineup

Aston Villa predicted XI: Martínez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Tielemans, Bogarde, McGinn; Rogers, Buendía, Watkins.

When will the match kick off?

The match at Villa Park kicks off at 19:00 BST on Sunday, 3 May 2026.

How to watch Aston Villa vs Tottenham?

UK viewers can watch the match live on TNT Sports 1. Coverage begins at 18:00 BST before the 19:00 kick-off. Fans can also stream the action through the HBO Max app and website.

Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur Premier League Preview

Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur Premier League Preview - Yahoo Sports
Description

Joao Palhinha kept the season alive as Tottenham Hotspur snuck past last-place Wolves, but the journey is far from over. West Ham remains two points ahead with four matches to go, and it no longer seems like even 40 points is a safe mark this year. Just getting there would require a 2-1-1 closing for Spurs, and with a trip to Stamford Bridge still looming, it essentially requires points from each of the other three fixtures.

That seems…unlikely, but survival was always going to require some luck. Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa represents the toughest remaining opponent in terms of table position, though Unai Emery’s side is dealing with the Europa League semis and questionable league form, having won just two of its last eight fixtures (both victories coming at home, however). Tottenham is not favored, but points must be earned somehow.

Match Details

Date: Sunday, May 3

Time: 2:00 pm ET, 7:00 pm UK

Location: Villa Park, Birmingham

TV: USA Network (US), TNT Sports 1 (UK)

Table: Spurs (18th, 34 pts), Villa (t-4th, 58 pts)

Spurs have had mixed results against Villa, but the recent stretch has not been kind. After a 4-1 win in November 2024 (following that impressive 4-0 trouncing the March before), it has been four straight losses in this head-to-head, including FA Cup eliminations in consecutive seasons. The reverse league fixture saw Rodrigo Bentcanur score in the opening five minutes before Villa came back to win 2-1 in North London.

Two Things to Watch

Expecting little

The first three matches under Roberto De Zerbi have done little to suggest the attack will reach his desired levels of fluidity. With three goals scored and an average xG under 1.0, it is fair to question if Spurs are simply unable to score enough to avoid relegation, even if the defense is miraculously improved (which is obviously a fantasy in itself).

Theoretically, the Villa defense is exploitable, sitting right next to Spurs in xGA this season, despite allowing the sixth-fewest actual goals. Three of the past six league opponents have found the back of the net at least three times each, though the other three contests during that stretch featured a total of two goals conceded. Most recent battles between these sides have seen modest scoring, and that feels like a safe bet again.

Much of this comes from Tottenham’s ever-dwindling list of healthy attackers. With Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons joining the crowded infirmary, good luck finding any sort of consistent attack. Richarlison, Mathys Tel, Lucas Bergvall, and Randal Kolo Muani are just about the only options, so there are going to be a ton of longballs that hopefully yield a lucky bounce in the final third.

Weekly Intangibles Update

To recap: Opta (an imperfect source, but at least a reasonable one), has West Ham at 40.2 points, with Leeds (45.7) and Forest (44.0) safe from the fray. The Hammers’ trip to the Gtech on Saturday is massive, especially since Spurs will know their standing ahead of the trip to Villa Park. While a draw (or loss) provides an opportunity to, at least temporarily, escape the drop zone, a West Ham win gives Spurs essentially no wiggle room.

Obviously, there is no result on Saturday that lowers the importance of Tottenham’s own fixture, but the gravity of seeing West Ham up five points does not sound great. Assuming equal results against Leeds, that would mean Spurs would need to win two of its other three matches in order to match the Hammers’ theoretical 42-point tally, and since one of those is against Chelsea, suddenly Villa is basically a must win.

Thankfully the home side will not be saying the same thing. Overcoming the 1-0 deficit to Forest in the Europa semis is the primary focus now with an eight-point cushion in the Champions League places, so perhaps Emery will mercifully deploy some rotation over the weekend. Wolves did not exactly roll over last Saturday, but hey, I would much rather face teams with nothing to play for than those still in the hunt. If talent is not enough to get Tottenham over the line, maybe desperation will be.

Tottenham Hotspur Forward Is On The Radar Of Newcastle United: Should Spurs Cash In On Him? - Yahoo Sports
Description

In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Tottenham Hotspur forward Dominic Solanke is on the radar of Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window. It is understood that Spurs are willing to accept a cut-price offer for the English striker as the Magpies look to recruit him this summer.

Solanke’s Decent Form In North London

Solanke has caught the eye at times for the North London club on the offensive end of the field during this campaign. The 28-year-old has found the back of the net on six occasions in 17 appearances for Spurs this season across various competitions.

On his day, the English sensation can be a streaky goal-getter in the Premier League. Thus, it is no wonder that the Magpies are showing interest in signing him this summer.

His current contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will run out in the summer of 2030. Therefore, Spurs are under no immediate pressure to cash in on him this off-season.

LONDON, ENGLAND – MARCH 27: Dominic Solanke of England during the international friendly match between England and Uruguay at Wembley Stadium on March 27, 2026 in London, England. (Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images)

Should Tottenham Hotspur Cash In On Solanke?

Solanke excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

Standing at 1.86m, the English striker can use his strong 1.86m frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air. However, he has to find a way to be more consistent in front of the opposition goal. Plus, the talented forward needs to find a way to improve his link-up play up top.

Solanke has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and could grow into a future star for them in the coming years. Therefore, Tottenham would be wise not to cash in on him unless they get relegated from the Premier League.

At 28, Solanke is about to enter his prime, so Spurs should consider keeping hold of him for the time being. He might even help the North London club get back to challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League over the next few years. With all things considered, Spurs would be wise to retain Solanke’s services beyond the end of this campaign.
