The idea of appointing Adi Hutter is intriguing, but also concerning. Yes, his track record in Europe is respectable, but the Premier League presents a completely different challenge. The pace, the intensity, the pressure, it can overwhelm even experienced managers with prior English exposure.

There is a genuine fear that this could mirror previous missteps. The phrase “Tudor 2.0” will resonate with fans who are tired of short term fixes that fail to address deeper structural issues.

Equally worrying is the broader strategy. If the club is already looking towards names like Mauricio Pochettino for the summer, then what message does that send to the incoming interim coach? It risks creating a lack of authority from day one.

Many supporters would argue that someone like Ryan Mason, who understands the club and its culture, might be better placed to steady the ship, even if only temporarily.

Tottenham Hotspur have to be more proactive in their managerial search than they were during the first half of the 2025/26 season when Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham were not even looking at contingency plans for Thomas Frank, who ended up keeping the coaching job months longer than he should have.

Reading the tea leaves, Igor Tudor's days as Spurs manager appear to be numbered, and if Spurs want to make a desperate move or if there is some combination of understandable burnout on Tudor's part, then Tottenham need to find a new coach. And obviously, even if Tudor does manage Spurs until the end of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, Tottenham still 100 percent need a new manager over the long term when the 2026/27 season starts.

For some reason, Tottenham's No. 1 target for the summer appears to be Roberto De Zerbi, but the former Marseille and Brighton coach is uninterested in being an emergency option for any club during the ongoing season. So if Spurs hire a new coach to replace Tudor now, they will have to look elsewhere, but even if we are just talking about summer hires, De Zerbi is not necessarily a favorite for most fans.

Tottenham are thinking about Marco Silva

Mauricio Pochettino is, but the list can't just be Poch and RDZ. Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner, and Marco Silva were the trio of mid table Premier League managers who had piqued Spurs interest alongside Thomas Frank during summer 2025 in the aftermath of Ange Postecoglou's sacking.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, as Tottenham Hotspur continue to ponder their options and view Roberto De Zerbi as a favorite, they have also circled back to Silva from Fulham. Per Romano, Spurs have "discussed internally" the possibility of hiring Silva as their next permanent manager.

In all honesty, while Marco Silva is hardly the most exciting name, he may have the best Premier League track record of these coaches. He has done very well for Fulham, as the club rank in the top half of the table and have been decent in the league ever since his appointment. And head to head, he has outclassed Tottenham badly on two occasions.

Silva is at least worth keeping in mind as a contingency plan to Pochettino, who is the real dream option for Spurs. He may be a better coaching hire than De Zerbi, given he is a less volatile personality than the ex Sassuolo man.

Tottenham Hotspur star center back Cristian Romero put himself back under the microscope with a poor performance on Sunday, and his lack of effort on the second goal Nottingham Forest scored in the 3-0 blowout got a lot of fans talking.

It didn't help that a report from MARCA surfaced that Romero may have already had a foot out the door last summer with a 60 million euro release clause in his contract that would allow him to join Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, or Real Madrid. The clause was reportedly inserted into his contract as part of the renewal, as Romero had serious interest from La Liga's giants and seemed to be uncertain about his Spurs future, especially after the firing of Ange Postecoglou.

But Romero stayed and has remained at Tottenham, though if they get relegated, it sounds like he could easily bolt from Spurs, especially if this release clause were to be valid at all in the summer 2026 transfer window.

There is no Cristian Romero clause

Thankfully for Tottenham Hotspur supporters, that does not appear to be the case. According to a report from Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, there was indeed a gentleman's agreement between the club and Cristian Romero last summer. Basically, if a top La Liga club approached Spurs with a good offer, they would consider letting him go. But Romano says there is no actual release clause or anything official on paper, it was all just a verbal agreement between Daniel Levy when he was CEO and Romero. But now that Levy is gone, no such agreement apparently exists.

So for Tottenham fans worried that the club could be pushed into losing Romero no matter what, they can rest assure that there is no clause. Though if Spurs were to be relegated, Tottenham may be forced to lose Romero to a top Spanish side like Real Madrid for even less than 60 million euros anyway. But if they stay up, at least they have room to negotiate or don't have anything tying him to a transfer on paper.

Tottenham fans were initially skeptical of a MARCA report about a clause anyway, so Romano's confirmation that there is no clause on paper comes as no surprise. That said, if Romero wants to push his way out the door this summer, some fans may not mind Spurs letting him go. He's had a pretty poor second half of the season, and at 27, he isn't part of the team's true long term plans if his heart isn't in it anymore.

Fallen London is an alternate history, moody, text-based browser RPG set in a Lovecraftian, Gothic-Victorian underworld, where an alternate-history 19th centuryLondon was stolen by bats to a subterranean realm called the Neath. It’s a game you play over the course of YEARS, not days, and it has some pretty outstanding (and weird) writing. You can buy paid content and it unlocks some options, but you certainly don’t have to pay to play.

The idea is simple: you are given a photo, and you need to guess where it was taken on a map based on context clues in the photo. It’s a bit like GeoGuessr, but it’s static. And fun. And quite challenging.

Misery knows no bounds at Tottenham Hotspur, with a new chapter added to the miserable nightmare that is their 2025-26 Premier League season on Sunday: a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in what was meant to be the club's rallying point to stave off relegation.

Thousands of Spurs fans organized themselves to greet the team bus on arrival in a show of full-throated support, putting aside weeks months years of the downward spiral that led to this pivotal moment, and for almost 45 minutes, there were even a few encouraging signs on the field. Then, Forest forward Igor Jesus planted a perfect header into the side netting from a corner kick in the 45th minute and that was, effectively, the end of all hope. Heads dropped

Morgan Gibbs-White, who famously almost joined Spurs in the summer before doing a sharp about-face in the 11th hour, added Forest's second goal in the 62nd minute. This, after Eberechi Eze, who also came within hours of signing for Spurs last summer, instead scored five goals in two games against them for rivals Arsenal. Eze has scored six goals in the PL all season. Just one of a many microcosm to sum up Spurs' season.

Taiwo Awoniyi finished the scoring in the 87th minute when he slid in at the back post and turned home Neco Williams' cross.

Spurs (30 points) are without a win in their last 13 PL games and haven't won a single game in the league in 2026. They are now just one point and one place above the relegation zone. Nottingham Forest (32 points) were fantastic on the day, given they found themselves in the exact same situation as Spurs and had one less day to prepare after playing in Denmark on Thursday. The Tricky Trees aren't yet safe, but a first PL win under Vitor Pereira has done much to steady the ship ahead of this weekend's international break.

Atlético de Madrid on Friday learned that they will face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League’s round of 16 next month — the sides’ first official meeting since Spurs defeated Atlético in the 1963 Cup Winners’ Cup final.

The first leg will take place at Estadio Metropolitano on March 10/11, marking Tottenham Hotspur’s return to the stadium where they contested the 2019 Champions League final against Liverpool. The return fixture will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the following week, on March 17 or 18.

Atlético reached the Champions League’s last 16 for the 11th time in 13 seasons after Tuesday’s 4-1 victory (7-4 on aggregate) over Club Brugge. After a farcical elimination at this stage last season, Atleti are aiming to return to the quarterfinals for the third time in five years and the eighth time in Diego Simeone’s reign as head coach.

While nemeses Real Madrid this year have been handed a tie against Manchester City, Atleti will square off against last season’s Europa League champion Spurs on what is being considered the more “favorable” side of the Champions League bracket. The winner of this tie will face either Newcastle United or FC Barcelona in the quarterfinals, with a possible semifinal against Arsenal after that.

Tottenham Hotspur are in something of a free fall. Spurs sit 16th in the Premier League table and hired Igor Tudor to replace the sacked Thomas Frank two weeks ago, not long after Frank had helped convince Conor Gallagher to join in a €40 million transfer from Atlético. Spurs — captained by former (and possibly future) Atleti transfer target Cristian Romero — have a significant number of players injured at present and are only four points clear of the drop zone in England.

A few of those absentees could return in the weeks ahead, and the North London side did finish fourth in the league phase table while Atlético stumbled to 14th. But on paper at least, drawing Spurs instead of Liverpool (who have their own injury woes) is a solid result for Atleti, even with the second leg away from home.

Spurs are still without James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pedro Porro, Ben Davies and Kevin Danso, while Romero is suspended. All of that adds extra pressure on Frank as he will likely go with the same starting lineup as the defeat at United on Saturday with Dragusin coming in for Romero. Solanke will lead the line up top and be supported by two of Kolo Muani, Simons and Odobert with Gallagher breaking forward from midfield.
