Tottenham Hotspur have taken their relegation fight to the final day of the 2025-26 season (Sunday, 11 am ET), needing just a point at home against Everton to stay in the Premier League next season.

WATCH — Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton

Spurs (17th) sit two points clear of rivals West Ham in 18th, but with a goal difference vastly superior to the Hammers (-10 to -22), a draw will do. Notably, Spurs have only won two PL games at home all season — opening day in August, and their last one on Dec. 6 (0W-4D-6L since). Roberto De Zerbi’s side has been incredibly short on attacking quality (and depth) in recent weeks due to injuries, but the Italian revealed a bit of good news on that front on Friday, regarding midfielder James Maddison and forward Dominic Solanke. “Maddison is available. It’s always tough to decide before the game how many minutes he can play. … Solanke is available for selection. We have to decide if he starts in the first XI or not.”

Everton are firmly entrenched for a mid-table finish in David Moyes’ first full season back in charge. After fighting relegation down to the very end three seasons in a row, Moyes has taken the Toffees to 13th and 12th (currently) in just 18 months.

Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs’ relegation scrap will go to the final game

Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs’ relegation scrap will go to the final game - NBC Sports
Description

LONDON — Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, as Spurs are still in relegation trouble heading into the final day of the season.

MORE — Roberto De Zerbi reaction

Roberto De Zerbi’s side started well but a first half beauty from Enzo Fernandez put Chelsea ahead and they doubled their lead through Andrey Santos in the second half.

Richarlison scored late on to set up a wild finale as Spurs came close to grabbing the point they needed to all but secure Premier League survival.

But instead they now go into their final game of the season at home against Everton knowing a win will keep them in the Premier League. They are on 38 points, two points ahead of West Ham who host Leeds on the final day.

A draw against Everton will almost certainly be enough for Spurs too, as they have a 12-goal advantage over West Ham in the race to stay up. But if Spurs lose at home to Everton, a win for West Ham will keep them up and relegate Spurs.

Chelsea are still in the hunt for European qualification as they move on to 52 points and can finish seventh if they win at Sunderland on the final day, which would seal a Europa League spot.

Incoming Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will have been happy with a lot of what he saw, but there is clearly plenty of work for him to do when he arrives this summer from July 1.

Tottenham Hotspur host Leeds United on Monday in a massive game for the hosts in their scrap against relegation.

WATCH — Tottenham Hotspur v Leeds

Roberto De Zerbi has led Spurs to back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since August to reignite their hopes of staying in the Premier League. They won 2-1 at a rotated Aston Villa last weekend to give themselves huge belief they can stay in the top-flight as they go head-to-head with London rivals West Ham to stay out of the bottom three in the final weeks of the season. Can Spurs make the most of this big opportunity?

Leeds sit six points above Spurs heading into this game and despite Daniel Farke’s side going six games unbeaten in the league and winning three of their last four games, they still aren’t out of relegation danger. Leeds beat Burnley 3-1 last time out and will be aiming to hit Spurs on the counter to win this game. If they win Leeds’ status as a Premier League club would be secure for next season.

Tottenham Hotspur team news, focus

As you may have heard, Spurs have a huge number of injuries with Cristian Romero, Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario, Dominic Solanke and Ben Davies all ruled out. Rodrigo Bentancur and Richarlison are both fit, while James Maddison is fit to play a part after being on the bench in the last few games. De Zerbi has Spurs set up well in a 4-2-3-1 formation and Conor Gallagher breaking forward from central midfield suits him and Spurs perfectly.

Roberto De Zerbi reaction — What did Tottenham Hotspur boss say after Spurs huge win at Aston Villa? - NBC Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi believed his team could get out of the relegation zone, but did he see that performance coming against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday?

MORE — Villa v Spurs reaction, video highlights

De Zerbi’s men took a two-goal lead after 25 minutes on goals from Conor Gallagher and Richarlison, then proceeded to almost completely hold down the fifth-place Villans over 90 minutes for a 2-1 win.

The win pulls Spurs out of the bottom three, two points ahead of West Ham and now two points behind 16th-place Nottingham Forest.

How did De Zerbi see it?

Roberto De Zerbi reaction — What did Tottenham Hotspur boss say after Spurs huge win at Aston Villa?

Happy with the win: “For sure because we played against Aston Villa, a very good team, a lot of very good players, great manager but we played very well 60 minutes — without the ball, with the ball. We suffered Watkins, Buendia. We conceded a goal, the only bad thing on the pitch. We could’ve scored more goals especially in the first half but I am pleased for this performance from my players. I know how much they’ve suffered this season and for that I am very proud.”

What did you like about the side’s mentality? “Pressure is like courage, it’s like mentality and then in ball possession because we played very well, with calm when we had to attack space or go to shoot. When we had to keep the ball, we did. I love playing football especially if you have these players on the squad. My job is to put them in the right condition to play, to show what they are capable of doing.”

How good was Conor Gallagher? “Gallagher when he plays well, we have 12 players because he is amazing. Today also Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel played a fantastic game. Joao Palhinha, Bentancur were incredible. The two central backs with and without the ball. Really pleased.”

Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur: Solid Spurs produce surprising showing, move out of bottom three - NBC Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur played their best game in ages as Roberto De Zerbi’s men are out of the bottom three following a 2-1 win at Villa Park on Sunday.

Villa were changed from their midweek Europa League semifinal first leg loss at Nottingham Forest, but few would’ve expected to see the visitors so much in the ascendancy.

WATCH — Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur full match replay

Conor Gallagher and Richarlison gave Spurs a two-goal lead before the match was 26 minutes old, and the final score line saw the North Londoners pull into 17th place with 37 points, a point clear of West Ham. Spurs also have a hefty 10-goal differential advantage on West Ham.

Villa’s third-straight loss in all competitons sees Unai Emery’s men on a 270-minute goalless run. Their 58 points trail Liverpool on goal differential and see them six points clear of sixth-place Bournemouth in the race for the final Champions League spot. Villa could also reach the Champions League by winning the Europa League.

What’s next?

Villa host the second leg of their Europa League semifinal versus Nottingham Forest on Thursday, trailing 1-0. They’ll then head to relegated Burnley on Sunday.

Spurs host Leeds on Monday, May 13 before visiting Chelsea on May 19.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur final score: 1-2

Conor Gallagher 12', Richarlison 26', Emiliano Buendia 90+6'

Emiliano Buendia goal — Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Matty Cash’s left-footed cross deep in stoppage time is turned into the goal by the head of Emi Buendia.

Still, that should be it, coming more than five minutes into five minutes’ stoppage time.

Subs

Villa’s Ollie Watkins replaced Tammy Abraham, and Spurs have made two changes in the 67th minute.

Djed Spence comes into the game for Randal Kolo Muani, while Yves Bissouma replaces the either ailing or tired Rodrigo Bentancur.

Villa absent

Changes aside, Villa are at home with 37% of the ball and zero shot attempts against a bottom-three side.

You would’ve bet on these players trying to break down a wall to be a part of the Europa League second leg vs Forest later this week. Not so much.

Halftime — Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Forty-five minutes from shaking up the relegation picture with three matchweeks remaining this season.

Richarlison goal — Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Mathy Tel sends an arrow of a cross toward the six and Richarlison rises high to turn it inside the goal. Wow.

Spurs look fantastic

They’ve won a corner now as Emiliano Martinez makes a terrific close-range save on Randal Kolo Muani.

Kevin Danso lashes a blocked side-volley and.... Richarlison!

Conor Gallagher goal — Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

They’ve been on the front foot and it’s fitting that Gallagher gets this goal.

Gallagher darts to the top of the arc to settle an airborne ball and cruises a pinpoint shot inside the post.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur preview

WATCH — Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur

Yet Villa have found their footing in the Premier League, eight points clear of sixth-place Brighton in the race to reach the UEFA Champions League. Emery has the freedom to try some new things to get his team back on track for the second leg.

Spurs’ Roberto De Zerbi does not have the same luxury, as the North Londoners are still on track for their first ever relegation to the Championship.

Tottenham Hotspur open Week 35 in 18th place, two points behind West Ham United, five back of Forest, and six behind Leeds. They need a win to keep heat on the group above them, let alone find safe pastures.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction

Spurs remain without so many stars and Villa Park is a tough place to go even when the hosts are a bit weary. This could tilt either way and a draw won’t move Spurs out of the bottom three yet perhaps they’ll be happy to take it. Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur.

Description

Roberto De Zerbi couldn’t hide his reaction at full time as Tottenham Hotspur scored late on at bottom club Wolves to grab their first league win of 2026 and boost their hopes of staying in the Premier League.

The relief, passion and joy on his face was clear for all to see.

Spurs’ win combined with West Ham’s win against Everton (courtesy of a late, late winner from Callum Wilson) on Saturday means the north London giants are still in the relegation zone with four games to go as they are two points from safety.

There is still a long, long way to go in this relegation scrap but Italian coach De Zerbi will be delighted that his side found a way to win it when it mattered most and will use that as fuel moving forward.

Here is the latest Roberto De Zerbi reaction from Molineux.

Xavi Simons, Dominic Solanke injury update: Latest news as Spurs lose key duo at Wolves - NBC Sports
Description

Relegation-haunted Tottenham Hotspur lost Dominic Solanke to injury in the first half and then Xavi Simons was taken off on a stretcher in the second half, as their woeful luck with injuries to key players continues.

MORE — Wolves v Spurs

Roberto De Zerbi looked on in disbelief as Solanke pulled up with what looked like a hamstring injury in the first half, as Richarlison came on in his place.

Then it got worse for Spurs as key playmaker Xavi Simons, their bright spark last week with a goal and assist against Brighton, stretched for the ball in the second half and looked to have hyperextended his knee.

Simons got up after initial treatment and tried to run it off but he appeared to make it worse and then went down and was carried on a stretcher out of the stadium.

This is not only bad news for Spurs in their scrap against relegation but Solanke is a good bet to make the England squad for the World Cup as Harry Kane’s back-up, while Simons is set to be a key player for the Netherlands this summer.

We will provide the latest injury update from Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi after the game at Wolves.

Wolves 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur: Palhinha’s late goal boosts Spurs’ survival hopes

Wolves 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur: Palhinha’s late goal boosts Spurs’ survival hopes - NBC Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur beat already-relegated Wolves 1-0 on Saturday at Molineux as Joao Palhinha’s late winner boosts their hopes of staying in the Premier League.

WATCH — Full match replay

In a nervous game which lacked big chances for either side, Spurs lost both Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons to injury.

But substitute Richarlison hooked a shot toward goal late on and fellow sub Palhinha was on hand to prod home and send the Spurs fans wild in the away end.

The win was Spurs’ first league victory of 2026 and their first under Roberto De Zerbi as he’s now picked up four points from his first three games in charge. But Spurs are on 34 points and after West Ham won late on against Everton on Saturday, Spurs are still in the relegation zone with four games to go. Wolves remain bottom on 17 points.

Spurs show they are up for the fight

After losing Solanke and Simons to injury, Spurs could have felt sorry for themselves. They weren’t great at Wolves by any stretch of the imagination but they did what they had to do to give themselves a chance of staying up heading into the final few games. Roberto De Zerbi will be delighted with the spirit his side showed and they limited Wolves to very few chances. That is promising because even though injuries are ravaging them, Spurs clearly have enough quality in attack to hurt teams when they get a chance. They just have to keep as many clean sheets as they can in their final four games of the season and rely on their star players delivering big moments in tight games. It’s going to be nervy but Spurs staying within two points of West Ham was absolutely imperative. De Zerbi’s demeanor and demands already appears to be rubbing off on his players. We know Spurs have enough quality to stay up but their fight has been questioned. Saturday’s win at Wolves proved they’re up for the scrap in a big way.

What’s next?

Wolves host Sunderland next Saturday, while Spurs head to Aston Villa next Sunday.

Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspur score: 0-1

Palhinha 82'

Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspur live updates! — By Joe Prince-Wright

Kinsky denies Joao Gomes!

Big save late on from Kinsky as Joao Gomes whips a lovely free kick on goal.

Wilson scores a late goal for West Ham...

Not such great news for Spurs as Callum Wilson has popped up with a late, late goal for West Ham. That means Spurs will stay in the relegation zone for now.

Great news continues for Spurs...

Everton have grabbed a late equalizer at West Ham, which has huge implications for Spurs in their relegation scrap. How big will this few minutes be in the context of Spurs’ season, and their future?

Spurs have scored late on as Palhinha prods home!

A corner is whipped in by Pedro Porro and Richarlison swivels and gets an effort towards goal. Palhinha prods home at the back post. Spurs fans go bonkers in the away end. A VAR check confirms Palhinha is onside and the goal stands.

Richarlison looked certain to head home!

A cross from the right looked certain to be nodded home by Richarlison but Doherty just got a flick on it before he was going to finish. That was a big chance for Spurs and promising for them in this final 10 minutes plus stoppage time.

Bentancur’s header denied by Sa!

A corner is whipped in and Rodrigo Bentancur’s powerful header is pushed away well by Jose Sa. Big chance for Spurs.

Armstrong almost gets in for Wolves

A ball over the top causes some confusion as Adam Armstrong is almost in but Kinsky gets out just in time to make the block.

Simons is down with a knee injury... and he is replaced by Bergvall

Oh no, Xavi Simons goes down stretching for the ball and it looks like a knee injury. Simons is up and is trying to come back on but he can’t carry on. Lucas Bergvall is on in his place.

Xavi Simons curls a great chance over

The Dutch playmaker cuts inside really well but under pressure from Doherty he curls his shot over. That is a big chance.

Bad news for Spurs as West Ham lead...

Not the score update fans of Spurs wanted to hear, as West Ham have taken the lead against Everton. As it stands, Spurs are four points safety with four games to go.

Tel on for Kolo Muani

Mathys Tel is on for Randal Kolo Muani at half time and his task is simple: score a goal. Neither team had a shot on target in that first half, by the way...

Half time thoughts — Nervy Spurs yet to get going

Roberto De Zerbi doesn’t look happy on the sidelines as it looks like the magnitude of the situation is getting to Spurs. They had a couple of chances early but weren’t able to build on it and have lost Solanke to injury. It feels like one goal is going to decide this game and Spurs have to throw caution to the wind in the second half. Their Premier League future decides on this 45 minutes...

Andre lunges in on Bissouma but is only booked

Yves Bissouma slips and Andre slides in and catches the Spurs midfielder. Andre is booked but Spurs want more. VAR checks the challenge, which is late and there is contact on Bissouma’s right foot. Andre is pretty lucky there that Bissouma slips. If not they would have been a red card.

Solanke is off injured for Spurs and Richarlison is on

Dominic Solanke pulls up under no contact and he can’t continue. Richarlison is on. De Zerbi can’t believe his luck as Spurs lose yet another key player to injury.

Wolves building some pressure

A corner comes in and a volley is hammered in by Rodrigo Gomes but Solanke blocks well. Wolves then win another corner and Spurs are under a bit of pressure.

Kolo Muani smashes wide!

Really good chance for Spurs as Wolves give the ball away and Randal Kolo Muani surges towards goal but he drills his low effort wide. Spurs are working hard and pushing high up the pitch.

Spurs almost score from a set piece!

A free kick is whipped in to the back post and it’s nodded back across goal and Solanke almost gets on the end of it and is saying he was pushed. No foul is given but that is promising from Spurs.

Wolves lineup

Sa; Doherty, S. Bueno, Gomes; Lima, Andre, J. Gomes, H. Bueno; Mane, R. Gomes; Armstrong

Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspur preview

Spurs (18th - 31 points) looked set to earn their first PL victory of 2026 last weekend, until Brighton scored in stoppage time and Roberto de Zerbi’s side had to settle for a deflating singular point. After West Ham (17th - 33 points) drew Crystal Palace on Monday, Spurs were no closer to safety even if the performance, effort level and encouragement from the fans looked and sounded markedly different than at any other point this season. De Zerbi said after the game that he believes Spurs can win all five of their remaining games, and last-place Wolves is perhaps the perfect place to start.

West Ham’s point was the straw that broke the camel’s back for Rob Edwards’ side, as they sit 16 points adrift with only five games left to play. They weren’t going down without a fight (nine of their 17 points were won in a six-game span in February and March, but back to back defeats of 4-0 and 3-0 (to fellow relegation fighters West Ham and Leeds) may have dented confidence the last two times out.
