Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali over the week and they are edging closer to a possible move.

Get Italian Football News have looked at how the London club are willing to meet the Magpies’ asking price for the midfielder.

Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Tottenham have now initiated contact with Newcastle United over a deal and have made some progress in a deal as well.

Eddie Howe’s side demand £85 million to sell Tonali, with Tottenham currently offering £75 million. The report is confident that a middle ground can be reached and Spurs can strike an agreement for £80 million in the next few days. Clearly, things are going in the right direction and Roberto De Zerbi’s side are making key progress.

Huge coup for De Zerbi

This is the sort of signing which indicates Tottenham’s trust in De Zerbi and his ideas. Usually, despite being a traditional top six club, they don’t go overboard with signings but this is the first time they are truly flexing their muscles and backing a manager to the hilt.

That is a sign of promise and it could yet get better.

Description

Serie A giants Juventus could be keen on landing Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie, who has been monitored at the Bianconeri for many years now.

The defender joined the London club in 2022, also winning the Europa League in 2025. But he has faced multiple injury issues in the last few months and can now be on his way out.

TuttoJuve report Juve have been monitoring the left-back since his time at Udinese. His name has never disappeared from their radar and Tottenham now want €30 million to part ways with the left-back in the summer.

Juve could consider an approach of €25 million plus bonuses and this will come close to Spurs’ valuation.

Cambiaso’s sale holds the key

The report logically clarifies that Udogie will be a replacement for Andrea Cambiaso, who has been linked with many clubs already. Besides, he is valued at around €50 million and this will give Juve enough funds to sign Udogie.

A deal will be favourable for all parties involves, though. This can especially be true if Cambiaso ends up at Tottenham. Udogie could get a move on and Spurs can earn a decent fee and Juve themselves can get a viable replacement. All of it can later come down to Roberto De Zerbi’s decision about the full-back.

Serie A side Juventus would be desperate to land a goalkeeper in the summer, with doubts increasing about the future of Michele Di Gregorio. Mattia Perin can also depart, with Alisson and Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario previously seen as possible options.

It seems as if the Brazilian’s candidacy is losing ground, especially as Andoni Iraola coming in as a new manager.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Mike Maignan is now also on the shortlist. While reports in France have spoken of contact, that hasn’t taken place and the Les Bleus star is simply one of the many options being considered by the Old Lady.

A key name is that of Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario, who was previously pursued by Inter. The Nerazzurri have moved away but the ex-Empoli player’s name is rising on Juve’s shortlist.

They see him as an accessible target, with Tottenham also somewhat open to his sale. The 29-year-old is keen on a return to Serie A and would be interested in moving to Juve.

Possible discount can be favourable

It does feel like Vicario has run his race at Tottenham, especially after the season he had. Antonin Kinsky seemed much more reliable, leaving Roberto De Zerbi to favour him.

This could be Spurs’ best chance of selling the Italian too. His contract runs out in 2028, which will reduce his value in 2027. So even if Juve offer just a bit less than their asking price, the London club should consider a sale.

Why Inter's stance on Tarik Muharemović can spark Tottenham transfer

Why Inter’s stance on Tarik Muharemović can spark Tottenham transfer - Get Italian Football News
Description

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović looks likely to move to English this summer, prompting suitors Inter to look elsewhere.

The Nerazzurri are keen to rebuild their back line ahead of next season. Veteran defenders Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian are leaving, while Stefan de Vrij is also likely to depart San Siro in the coming weeks.

One positive for Inter is the strong likelihood of star defender Alessandro Bastoni staying at the club. The 27-year-old has long been in Barcelona’s cross hairs, but the Blaugrana’s recent big-money pursuit of Anthony Gordon and Julián Alvarez means it’s unlikely they’ll have the funds to move for Bastoni, with Inter chairman and CEO Beppe Marotta having also confirmed that the Italy international has not pushed for a move.

Coming back to Muharemović, the young Bosnian centre-back has garnered many admirers during the Neroverdi’s first season back in Serie A, which has ended in a comfortable mid-table finish. Alongside Inter, Juventus were also looking to bring him back, with the 23-year-old having been part of their reserve squad, Juve Next Gen. Tottenham Hotspur have also been keeping tabs on him, and Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali recently revealed that he was in London to discuss a possible Premier League move for his prized centre-back.

Having ensured Premier League survival, the Lilywhites are now in pole position to land Muharemović, whose contract — with a gross annual salary of €740,000 — runs until June 2031. Sassuolo have made it clear they’ll sell Muharemović on their own terms, and while a €30m price tag is mooted, a strong campaign with Bosnia & Herzegovina at the imminent World Cup could push that price up higher.

So Inter are looking elsewhere. Among the names of defenders linked with them are Udinese’s Oumar Solet, Roma’s Evan Ndicka and Manu Koné, and Bologna’s Jhon Lucumí.

Inter will be fine

Inter have been aware of their defensive dilemma for a while. Going as far back as their humiliation at the hands of PSG in last season’s Champions League final, they have known that their backline needs a revamp.

The Tarik Muharemović saga will likely last a while, what with the World Cup on the horizon, and the Premier League interest in him — especially Spurs’, who are also in need of a defensive overhaul amid potential big-name exits and the clearing of deadwood — means Inter are likely to be priced out; such is the current financial reality of Italian and English football.

Nevertheless, the number and profile of the players linked with them means Inter are well aware of their predicament and have alternatives at the ready should pursuit of any one player fall through. In the long run, they will be fine.

The best news for Inter at the moment, one that will be celebrated almost as one would a new signing, is that Alessandro Bastoni is almost set to remain at the club. Already an Inter stalwart, he’s someone Cristian Chivu will want to rebuild Inter’s defence around.

Why Nicolo Fagioli will solve Tottenham's midfield issues

Why Nicolo Fagioli will solve Tottenham’s midfield issues - Get Italian Football News
Description

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur have identified Nicolò Fagioli as a possible target for the summer.

The 25-year-old has just completed his first full season at Fiorentina after his €13.5m switch from Juventus. Having secured top-flight status after flirting with relegation for most of the season, La Viola consider Fagioli a crucial part of their plans, though they will struggle to reject big-money offers.

The Italy international has three more years remaining on his Fiorentina contract, which fetches him €1.8 million annually after tax. Juventus also stand to earn 10% of the fee Fiorentina would get if they move Fagioli on.

Fagioli fits the profile Spurs need

If Spurs are to land a player of Fagioli’s pedigree, they’re going to have to ensure Premier League survival, which as things stand is not a bygone conclusion.

Regardless of whether they stay up or not, the Lilywhites will go into the summer needing to make wholesale changes and practically start anew to plan their way back into the top half of the English top flight.

On the pitch, Fagioli does the profile Spurs need. Of many things that have hurt them this season, their midfield’s all-round ineptitude has been one of them. From keeping possession, dictating the tempo, being the cohesive unit to support both attack and defence, to hamper the opposition’s chances of building up play — Spurs’ players in the middle have thoroughly disappointed across all departments.

Of course, their injury issues have not helped. But both injuries and the lack of reliable deep-lying midfield operator are matters they have been dealing with for a few years now.

Having a reliable midfield general is a major cornerstone of any successful team in any context, so Spurs do need a solution for that position, and Fagioli would be a good fit. However, their survival in the Premier League will singlehandedly dictate their ability to go after him and players of his ilk.

How Roberto De Zerbi is adapting to help Tottenham battle Premier League relegation

How Roberto De Zerbi is adapting to help Tottenham battle Premier League relegation - Get Italian Football News
Description

Tottenham climbed out of the relegation zone on Sunday, picking up a massive win over Aston Villa. It was also their second win in a row and they are now unbeaten in three games.

Things are somehow looking bright, which wasn’t true at all under Igor Tudor. To many, this is a bit unexpected too. De Zerbi’s reputation is one of someone who is combative on and off the pitch, he calls players out, demands higher standards and doesn’t rest until his ideas are fully in place.

The Italian has made that change at Tottenham, appearing soft, moderated and much more adaptive in how he deals with the media.

If anything, it was Tudor who appeared to demand higher standards from Spurs players every time he entered a press conference room. He often appeared negative in a situation which was anyway negative for the club. Players who were surrounded with gloom were kicked further instead of being made to believe in their abilities which have been obvious for many years now.

De Zerbi has probably understood the assignment better than Tudor. Instead of being his demanding self, he has toned down, made it clear that the players have what it takes to win games.

Last month, he famously said Tottenham can win every game, saying: “Every one of us knows it is a tough moment, a difficult situation, but we have another five games, 15 points, and this team is able to win five games in a row.”

That was very hopeful at that point, leaving many fans confused. But that has worked well, with Spurs getting seven points from a possible nine.

Instead of adding to the negativity, he offered hope to fans that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Before the Villa game, he called out the press for spreading negativity and chose to focus on what they have.

“The voice says, ‘we are unlucky, we have too many injuries, we lost Xavi Simons and he was the last two games one of the best players and most important players for us, our medical staff is not good enough and the pitch of the stadium is not good, the pitch of the training ground is not good, it is impossible to win two or three games in a row because we have not won too many games in 2026.’

“I think it is all negative things and it is rubbish.”

“I heard no, that it is impossible, we are crying everyone and we are relegated. But no, not yet. And we have to die on the pitch and to die on the pitch we have to lose the game.”

In a lot of ways, this approach seems very un-De Zerbi like. It doesn’t fit well with his image, which has been the direct opposite ever since his time at Sassuolo.

Now, he has adapted and that is a very good sign for the Italian and his future in general. Generally, he is more associated with rigidity – in playing style and management. But that has toned down to meet the demand of the massive task he has at hand.

It is quite clear that a club of Tottenham’s stature can’t go down and De Zerbi has understood the assignment well. That is the priority but at the same time, he has put the building blocks of his approach in place. It was very evident against Villa, as players covered a lot of ground, pressed high, exploited spaces, passed in triangles and it is something one associates with De Zerbi’s teams.

It isn’t perfect yet but there are increasing signs that it is finally in the right direction.

Description

Roma are rapidly closing in on a defensive reinforcement, with significant progress made in the pursuit of Tottenham’s Radu Drăgușin. According to Sportmediaset, the Giallorossi have accelerated negotiations over the last few hours, moving into the final stages of a deal to bring the Romanian center-back back to Serie A.

Notably, the capital club has already reached a “total agreement” on personal terms with the 23-year-old, who has given his full approval to the move. Discussions between the two clubs are now underway to finalize the formula, which is expected to be an initial loan deal. Furthermore, the reports suggest that only a few minor details remain to be ironed out with Spurs before the operation reaches a definitive conclusion, with the deal described as something that “could be done soon.”

Indeed, Gian Piero Gasperini has identified the former Genoa man as the ideal profile to bolster his backline, valuing Drăgușin’s physical presence and prior experience in the Italian top flight. For the player, the move represents a chance to find consistent playing time after a stop-start period in North London following his recovery from a long-term injury.
