Description

Djed Spence made a clear point to interim Tottenham Hotspur manager Igor Tudor after being withdrawn against Atletico Madrid.

Tottenham take a 5-2 loss back to north London, with Igor Tudor’s man management the big talking point from the game.

Questions need to be answered at Spurs before this weekend’s game against Liverpool regarding Tudor’s position.

RIGHT or WRONG: Was Igor Tudor right to sub off Antonin Kinsky after just 17 minutes?

The mood among the Spurs player was summed up when Spence was withdrawn by the interim manager after 83 minutes.

Djed Spence makes Igor Tudor point amid Tottenham frustration

Tudor did not shake hands with Antonin Kinsky after withdrawing the Spurs goalkeeper following his horror show.

Spence was given the same treatment after he was replaced by Xavi Simons.

However, looking to make a point, Spence stood up after taking to the substitute’s bench and tapped Tudor on the back to shake his hand.

The act was a clear indication of the poor connection between these Spurs players and their interim manager.

Over the years, a lot of Tottenham squads have downed tools under certain managers; this is another example of the manager losing the dressing room.

Tottenham have to sack Igor Tudor

After the loss to Crystal Palace, The Spurs News thought Tottenham should have sacked Tudor.

Just a matter of days on from the defeat in N17 and the message has not changed.

Tottenham have now lost six consecutive games for the first time in the club’s history. It simply cannot go on like this.

Tudor was brought in for a new manager bounce and he has lost all four of his game as the Spurs boss. Instead, he has led Spurs to four defeats from four.

It has become hard to see where Tottenham are going to get their next points from, with Liverpool up next.

Spurs being relegated is now becoming a reality and they are currently set to go down without any fight under this manager, with the players clearly not taking to him.

Tottenham must make brutal Micky van de Ven decision immediately after losing 5-2 to Atletico Madrid - The Spurs News
Description

Tottenham Hotspur must consider selling Micky van de Ven this summer following his disastrous performance against Atletico Madrid.

The Dutch defender was horrendous, along with his teammates, but he was very fortunate not to have been shown a second consecutive red card.

AGREE or DISAGREE: Tottenham should sell Micky van de Ven this summer after his performance vs Atletico Madrid?

Spurs were embarrassed at the Metropolitano in Madrid as Atletico tore them apart, winning the first leg 5-2 ahead of the next game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The North London club needed to show their supporters a reaction to recent results; however, they found themselves 3-0 down inside 15 minutes in record-time.

Van de Ven was at the heart of Spurs’ defence, and the 24-year-old proved why the club should not be afraid to consider listening to offers for him in the summer.

Tottenham must sell Micky van de Ven this summer

Tottenham Hotspur should not be scared of the decision to sell Micky van de Ven this summer, following yet another shocking performance.

Van de Ven was sent off against Crystal Palace, costing his team in a huge moment, and was so lucky not to be shown another red in Madrid.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham want to keep Van de Ven this summer, but his recent performances raise question marks as to whether he is someone the team can trust.

Meanwhile, Van de Ven is keen to leave Tottenham, and the North London club cannot afford to keep players who do not want to play for them.

The central defender made an error for Atletico’s second goal of the evening and lost possession six times at the Metropolitano.

During Cristian Romero’s absence, the Dutch international has been the captain, but the club lost every game in which he featured.

Will Luka Vuskovic stay or leave if Tottenham are relegated to the Championship?

Tottenham value Van de Ven at a British record fee; however, no club will be willing to pay that amount given his form this season.

Luka Vuskovic returns to Tottenham next summer, and he should be the player who takes Van de Ven’s place when he leaves.

Van de Ven is suspended for the next game against Liverpool, but really, whoever replaces Igor Tudor should be looking to keep him out of the team.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has shared his instant reaction to Antonin Kinsky’s Tottenham Hotspur horror show.

Kinsky lasted just 17 minutes before he was withdrawn by Igor Tudor in another sobering night of football for Tottenham.

Spurs found themselves three goals behind within the opening 17 minutes, with Kinsky at fault for two of them.

Tudor did not hesitate in withdrawing the Czech goalkeeper, who has been given the support of De Gea.

What David de Gea said about Antonin Kinsky’s Tottenham nightmare

Joe Hart felt sorry for Kinsky after witnessing the goalkeeper being dragged off following his early mistakes.

It was the 22-year-old’s first start in the Champions League and it will undoubtedly be his last in a Tottenham shirt.

Taking to X during the game, the Fiorentina goalkeeper, De Gea, shared his support of the Spurs shot stopper.

“No one who hasn’t been a goalkeeper can understand how difficult it is to play in this position,” he said.

“Keep your head up and you will go again.”

Tottenham are looking to replace Guglielmo Vicario this summer, but the Italian has just secured his spot between the sticks for the remainder of the season.

Kinsky walked straight down the tunnel after being withdrawn, with Tudor not even looking at the Spurs goalkeeper.

It is not a nice situation, but these are the very basics that football fans expect from their players.

Mathys Tel says he didn’t sleep for a week after what happened at Tottenham earlier this season - The Spurs News
Description

Mathys Tel hasn’t exactly produced his best form since swapping Bayern Munich for Tottenham in January 2025.

The 20-year-old signed initially on loan before making the move permanent in the summer after helping the team win the Europa League during the 2024/25 campaign. Tel made 20 appearances for Tottenham last season, scoring three goals and claiming as many assists.

AGREE or DISAGREE: Tottenham are favourites vs Atletico Madrid?

At the start of this season, Tel missed a penalty as Tottenham lost the Super Cup Final to PSG, and that has put a real downer on his season so far, with regular football hard to come by for the Frenchman.

It would appear as though that particular game put a real downer on his confidence, and now he’s been discussing the missed spot-kick during a recent interview on his time with Tottenham so far.

Mathys Tel had sleepless nights after Tottenham penalty miss

Tel wasn’t the only Tottenham player to miss in the 6-5 defeat to PSG, with Micky van de Ven also having his effort saved.

However, the youngster struggled to wrap his head around the incident and admitted that he endured sleepless nights after failing to find the target in the shootout.

The Tottenham forward has been speaking to the Zack En Roue Libre podcast about the incident and admits he’s found it difficult to bounce back.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tel said: “My brother is there right after the game. He manages my social media accounts.

“He says to me: ‘Dude, don’t turn on your phone.’ I, like an idiot, turned it on

“Sometimes you have to make a mistake to understand it’s a mistake, but at the time, it was not wise.

“I had already taken some time for myself. At that point, I was really in a heavy state. This isn’t just a small thing. No, it’s not a small thing. So many negative emotions -the very same evening, I couldn’t sleep, it was more than that, I was with my brother, yeah, trying to make sense of all this. I had really gone deep. It was crazy, it was intense.

“The next morning, people from Tottenham were outside my apartment. It looked like I was sick.

“They came by, knocked, and asked if I was okay. ‘Are you okay? Are you okay?’ You know? They said they’d handle the social media side because it had gotten out of control.

“I didn’t respond properly. My brother told me, and my mother, too, she called me directly. And then the Tottenham people came the next day. They told me, “It’s serious.” And after seeing it all, I realised it was even worse than what I had experienced at Bayern during the Super Cup.

“So there I was, in bed, thinking, wow, it’s too much, it’s overwhelming.

“My team and I discussed it, stayed up all night, I think for a week – I couldn’t sleep. My eyes were red. I kept saying, ‘I’m fine,’ even though I wasn’t. I’m someone who always has to say ‘I’m fine,’ even when I’m not. I told myself, “It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay.”

Tel has to find some form at Tottenham

Although Tel has struggled this season, he has bags of time to fulfil his potential, with the player still only 20.

Tottenham need all hands to the pump in their current situation and Tel needs to start stepping up and adding a few goals to his game in the final games of the season.

👀 How many points will Tottenham take from their next four Premier League matches?

Any player is capable of missing a penalty kick and he needs to shake off that experience and start to hit his straps in the Premier League.

Tottenham have been woefully bad in front of goal this season and now they need Tel to showcase to everyone exactly what he’s capable of.

Joe Cole slams Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven - The Spurs News
Description

Joe Cole is unimpressed by one aspect of Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven after what he saw him doing recently.

The Dutchman is among the first names on the team sheet for Spurs and Cole has lauded him for his footballing ability.

This season, the 24-year-old has played 27 Premier League games, contributing at the other end of the pitch as well, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

Has Micky van de Ven just tarnished his Tottenham reputation?

Red card vs Crystal Palace…

Joe Cole has questioned Micky van de Ven’s attitude

Cole believes that while the centre-back is a tremendous footballer, he does have problems with his attitude.

He was not impressed with how the Netherlands international treated Thomas Frank, as he completely seemed to ignore his instructions from the touchline.

Van de Ven even got sent off against Crystal Palace, letting his manager and teammates down.

Palace took full advantage of that and ended up with the three points, winning the game 3-1.

Tottenham’s centre-back pairing vs Liverpool should be _____ + ______

Romero is back, but Van de Ven is suspended…

Speaking on the Dressing Room Podcast, Cole said: “Micky van de Ven, when he’s sent off. Micky van de Ven, I think is a fantastic footballer right but I question his attitude.

“I question the attitude a little bit right because of his actions and that can be changed.

“I don’t like to question players’ attitudes, but when I see the behaviour, like you know, when with Thomas Frank he did that (ignored him) and there’s a few little things.

“I’m not questioning his ability, I think he’s outstanding.”

Is van de Ven not happy at Tottenham?

Van de Ven excelled at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou and the fans believed that they had one of the best young defenders in Europe.

He has been reliable both on and off the ball and his physicality has seen him excel in the ever-demanding nature of the Premier League.

However, while he has done well, the team has not, at least in domestic competitions.

While they did win the Europa League last season, they finished 17th in the Premier League and are once again in a relegation battle.

Even if Tottenham stay up, one would not be surprised if the Dutchman considers his future at the club.

His agent could be in talks with title-chasing clubs in Europe’s top five leagues, so a summer exit cannot be ruled out.

Right now, Liverpool are not interested in signing Micky van de Ven, despite the Tottenham defender being keen on a move to Anfield.

Tottenham want to keep Van de Ven next season; however, the defender seems intent on leaving the North London club.

Fill in the blank: Micky van de Ven is worth £__m in this current market?

Were Tottenham to be relegated to the Championship, which is looking increasingly likely, they would stand very little chance of keeping him anyway.

But as things stand, Van de Ven will not be joining Liverpool, as the Reds do not consider him a transfer target at this moment in time.

Liverpool are not interested in signing Micky van de Ven from Tottenham

Liverpool have no interest in signing Micky van de Ven from Tottenham Hotspur at this moment in time, according to Dom King.

Tottenham have been offering Van de Ven a new contract, but there has been no progress on that front, suggesting a move away in the summer is likely.

The Dutch international is keen on a move to Anfield, but right now, the feeling from the Reds is not believed to be mutual.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking about Liverpool’s interest, King told TalkSPORT: “From what I’ve heard, I don’t believe they’re in for him. I would never say anything definitively about a football transfer because things can change.

“I would believe that he would want to come to Liverpool. That’s from what I’ve heard, but I’m not sure that the feeling is totally mutual at this moment in time.”

Tottenham value Van de Ven at British transfer record levels, which means that any interested party in the 24-year-old would have to pay close to £125 million.

Van de Ven was sent off against Crystal Palace in a match where Spurs threw away a 1-0 lead and now find themselves just one point off the bottom three.

Fill in the blank: Luka Vuskovic will be a ___________ replacement for Micky van de Ven…

If the defender were to leave next summer, Tottenham have Luka Vuskovic returning from his loan spell at Hamburg.

The 19-year-old has been brilliant in the Bundesliga and looks more than ready to step up to the plate to replace Van de Ven.

Hamburg’s chances of signing Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham have been made very clear - The Spurs News
Description

Hamburg officials have no hope of arranging a second loan deal to sign Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 19-year-old is one of Europe’s most sought-after players right now, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona among the clubs chasing him.

Will Luka Vuskovic stay or leave if Tottenham are relegated to the Championship?

Vuskovic has been spectacular at Hamburg during his loan spell in the Bundesliga, which is making it tricky for Tottenham to keep hold of him.

Spurs will surely want to keep him in the squad next season, especially with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero likely to leave.

A return to Hamburg had been touted for Vuskovic; however, the competition to sign him on loan again is likely to be far too strong.

Hamburg have no hope of a second Luka Vuskovic loan

Hamburg have already given up hope of signing Luka Vuskovic on loan for next season, according to Hamburger Abendblatt.

The defender is now ‘extremely unlikely’ to return to the Bundesliga on loan, despite Vuskovic being keen on a return to HSV.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He has been keen to play alongside his brother, Mario, at Hamburg, who is due to return from a doping ban in November.

But with Tottenham keen to bring Vuskovic back for next season and multiple major clubs targeting him, that dream now looks to be very unrealistic.

The North London club will likely need to replace Van de Ven and Romero in the summer, and in Vuskovic, they already have the perfect candidate.

🤔 Is this a realistic Tottenham team for the Championship?

But relegation to the Championship could make keeping the teenager very tricky, especially given the clubs that are keen on him.

Barcelona have now entered the race for Vuskovic, with Bayern Munich having also been so impressed by the young defender.

He is contracted with Spurs until the summer of 2030, making a move away from the North London club quite complicated.

Micky van de Ven is open to leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer, which could hamper their hopes of keeping the defender.

Tottenham are planning a major overhaul of their squad this summer, and Van de Ven is on their list of players they are hoping to keep.

Fill in the blank: Micky van de Ven is worth £__m in this current market?

Right now, the Lilywhites are sitting 16th in the Premier League table, but are just one point above the bottom three.

If Spurs do manage to beat the drop, Van de Ven is among the players the club want to build around; however, that looks quite tricky.

Tottenham want to keep just nine players

Tottenham Hotspur are planning a major overhaul this summer and are looking to keep just nine of their first-team players, according to The Telegraph.

Recent signings Conor Gallagher, Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons are on the list of players the North London club are hoping to keep.

Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall are also players Spurs would like to build around in the summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski have both spent the entire season out injured, but again, the Lilywhites want to keep both attackers.

Finally, Micky van de Ven is the player whom the next manager could look to build his defence around, with Cristian Romero potentially being sold.

Has Micky van de Ven just tarnished his Tottenham reputation?

Red card vs Crystal Palace…

Romero could be one of the high-profile departures this summer, along with Guglielmo Vicario and Pedro Porro.

During his five years in North London, Romero’s temperament has often been questioned, and despite signing a new contract last summer, he could now be offloaded.

Micky van de Ven is open to leaving Spurs

However, Van de Ven could scupper Spurs’ transfer plans, as the report claims that there have been suggestions that the defender is open to leaving.

Tottenham have been offering Van de Ven a new contract; however, there seems to have been little progress made.

The Dutch defender is still contracted to the Lilywhites until 2029, but is only earning around £50,000-per-week at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham interested in surprise move for Sporting Director who left Premier League club in 2024 - The Spurs News
Description

Tottenham are going to be in search of a new Sporting Director to potentially replace Johan Lange, and a new name is now in the mix.

Tottenham have been linked with Dougie Freedman, whilst Paul Winstanley’s name has also popped up in the media.

YES or NO: Would you take Tim Sherwood back at Tottenham until the end of the season?

Given how badly Tottenham have performed in the Premier League over the last two seasons, the person picked for the role will have a rebuild on their hands.

Now, news of another name in the mix has emerged, with a figure who left a Premier League club in 2024 now being considered by Tottenham.

Tottenham want Kyriakos Dourekas

According to Rudy Galetti, Tottenham are now considering making a move for Dourekas, who is currently in place with Neom SC.

Prior to his appointment there, he spent six years in place at Nottingham Forest, working as a Director of Football and helping the club reach the Premier League.

Dourekas knows his way around a Premier League club, and his contacts might help Tottenham land a number of players who can represent upgrades on the current squad.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The man who worked for Olympiacos for 11 years before moving to England would likely want a return to the Premier League and it will be interesting to see if Spurs do make an official approach.

The surprise element comes as he’s never operated as a Sporting Director before and has only worked in Director of Football or boardroom roles previously.

Dourekas could be perfect for Tottenham

At Forest, Dourekas played a part in assembling a squad capable of getting the Reds up and then keeping them in the Premier League.

The likes of James Garner, Philip Zinckernagel and Djed Spence – now of Tottenham – all signed under his watch in 2021/22 to help Forest towards promotion.

His recruitment role was then split between him and a number of other people in that department, and he played a hand in some very successful transfer windows.

Whoever comes in at Tottenham will have a sizeable job on their hands and as a respected figure within the game, perhaps Dourekas would be a solid if unspectacular appointment.

Description

Comedian Jacob Hawley has revealed that he is starting a new podcast with Sean Dyche, who promises he has no plans of returning to football anytime soon.

Dyche has been linked with a move to Tottenham in a last-ditch attempt to save them from Premier League relegation.

Fill in the blank: If Sean Dyche was appointed Tottenham manager, I would feel ________

Igor Tudor is under big pressure at Tottenham to turn things around following three defeats in his first three matches as interim manager.

Spurs have been assessing potential alternatives less than a month after appointing the Croatian, but Dyche appears to have ruled himself out of the running.

Sean Dyche to Tottenham now looks unlikely

Sean Dyche’s potential move to Tottenham Hotspur now looks unlikely as he is starting a new podcast following his Nottingham Forest sacking.

Having been paid £5 million to leave the Midlands club, the manager is happy to sit out the game for a bit and wait for his next gig.

“Yeah, there’s no NDA just yet. I think I’m about to start a new comedy podcast, I should stress. It’s a comedy podcast about football rather than a football podcast trying to be funny,” Hawley told Screen Rot Podcast.

“So I’m going to be a regular part of it. I mean, yeah, it’s Sean Dyche. It’s about woke culture and football. It’s literally called Utter Woke Nonsense. It’s Sean Dyche and me.

“It’s made by Piers Morgan, which I don’t love. I mean, it could be one of those things, one episode, and it’s done.

“It’s very much a thing of like, the producers are like, ‘he’s promised us he’s not going to take another football job’.

“They probably wouldn’t love me saying this, but apparently, he said to them, he was like, ‘I got £5 million out of two months with Forest. I’m happy to stick on YouTube for a while’.”

Harry Redknapp has also been linked with the Tottenham job, with the North London club clearly looking for a manager with Premier League experience.

Tudor was always a gamble given his lack of Premier League experience, and so far the experiment has backfired dramatically.
