Tottenham Hotspur have sacked Thomas Frank after falling below Leeds United in the Premier League table.

Leeds climbed up to 15th following their 2-2 comeback draw at Chelsea on Tuesday night, with goals from Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor earning a big point. That point was enough to take the Whites above Spurs, who lost 2-1 at home to Newcastle United that same evening.

Spurs were 1-0 down at half-time before Archie Gray equalised, but Newcastle scored just two minutes later to hold out for a rare away victory. Frank’s name was regularly booed by the home support at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Asked if he’ll be in charge for the North London derby against Arsenal next weekend, Frank said on Tuesday: "Yeah, I am convinced I will be. I understand the question. It is easy to point on me but it is never only the head coach, ownership, players or staff.

“It is everyone. Everyone knows what position we are in and what we need to improve on. That is what we are working hard on."

Spurs have now made the decision to part ways with Frank, who has not seen his side win a Premier League game in 2026. The London club have won just two of their last 17 in the league and are in serious relegation trouble, with just five points separating them and West Ham.

Spurs statement as Thomas Frank sacked

A statement posted on Tottenham’s X account read: “The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.

“However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. Throughout his time at the Club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the Club forward.

“We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”

Frank signed a three-year contract in the summer, leaving Brentford to replace Europa League winner Ange Postecoglou but lasting just eight months. The Danish head coach was subject to chants calling for him to be sacked in the morning during Tuesday’s defeat against Newcastle.

Spurs have endured a torrid campaign of injuries, with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur out for long periods. There are currently 11 first-team players unavailable, including Christian Romero who is serving a four-game ban after receiving his second red card of the season last weekend.

Leeds United’s superb comeback draw at Chelsea has been accompanied by a huge fresh blow for new struggling rivals and a big West Ham twist for a double Whites boost.

Daniel Farke’s Whites looked to be heading for an 11th defeat of the season as they trailed 2-0 at Tuesday night’s hosts Chelsea but Leeds produced an amazing comeback to take a point through a 2-2 draw.

Fifth-bottom Leeds began the night level on points with Tottenham Hotspur who sat directly above them but Spurs suffered another defeat as their hosting of Newcastle United ended in a 2-1 loss, allowing the Whites to leapfrog them in the table.

Farke’s side have consequently jumped up to 15th place and the night ended with one final huge twist and heartbreak for fellow key rivals West Ham.

Hammers looked destined for a huge boost

The third-bottom Irons took on Manchester United at the London Stadium in an 8.15pm kick-off and a close-range finish from Tomas Soucek in the 50th minute had the Hammers on course for a 1-0 victory heading deep into second half stoppage time.

A win would have cut the gap to Leeds down to four points but the Red Devils equalised in the 96th minute as Benjamin Sesko applied a brilliant finish to a Bryan Mbeumo cross to seal a 1-1 draw.

The result keeps Leeds six points clear of the dropzone but also now a point and a place above Tottenham after 26 games played.

Fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest who are four points behind Leeds and just two points ahead of West Ham host bottom of the table Wolves on Wednesday night in their game in hand.

Description

A huge Leeds United boost has been followed by mixed fortunes for key rivals - and the bookies have now produced their new predicted final Premier League table.

Daniel Farke’s fifth-bottom Whites kicked three points clear of fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest by beating them 3-1 in Friday night’s huge clash under the Elland Road lights, a result which took Leeds nine points clear of the dropzone.

Third-bottom West Ham, though, reduced the gap to Leeds back to six points with a 2-0 win at second-bottom Burnley on Saturday afternoon which also left them just three points behind Forest.

For Leeds, Friday night’s win also took them level on points with both Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur who experienced contrasting fortunes from their weekend games.

Spurs suffered another defeat via a 2-0 loss at Manchester United which left Thomas Frank’s side only ahead of Leeds on goal difference.

Palace , though, then travelled to Brighton on Sunday and finally recorded a first league win of the year as a 1-0 success took them up to 13th place and three points above Leeds who are now directly Spurs in the table. Defeat for Brighton also saw the Seagulls drop to 14th place, just two points above the Whites.

With the weekend’s games now all completed, it’s led to the bookies updating their relegation odds and producing a new predicted final Premier League table based on those odds. Using title odds to determine sides expected to end up in the top half, here is the full new rundown from top to bottom.

Newly-emerging rivals Tottenham Hotspur have taken themselves back out of Leeds United’s direct view with an incredible comeback.

Tottenham approached the new season as defending Europa League champions but with their Premier League struggles costing Ange Postecoglou his job and leading to the appointment of Thomas Frank.

Spurs, though, have been gradually sliding down the table of late and lined up for Sunday afternoon’s hosting of Manchester City sat in 14th place and only two points ahead of fifth-bottom Leeds.

Tottenham then dropped another place down the table as they were leapfrogged by Crystal Palace as the Eagles took a 1-1 draw from Sunday’s 2pm kick-off at Nottingham Forest who themselves joined Leeds on 26 points.

Sunday’s hosting of City still presented a game in hand for Spurs and a chance for them to go back above Palace and also Brighton into 13th place but Frank’s side looked destined to suffer another defeat as they trailed 2-0 at the break.

Title chasing City breezed into a 2-0 lead by the interval through goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo, the contest appearing over as glum faces looked on from the home fans in the stands.

Spurs, though, incredibly fought back to draw level at 2-2 via a brace from Dominic Solanke, his incredible scorpion kick finish ultimately sealing a draw and a point which takes Tottenham back up to 14th place.

The draw leaves Spurs two places and three points ahead of Daniel Farke’s Whites.

Three of Tottenham’s next six games are against teams in the division’s current top six, trips to Manchester United and Liverpool sandwiching the north London derby at home to title favourites Arsenal.

Leeds change in bookies' predicted final table after Arsenal hiding but West Ham blow - Yorkshire Evening Post
Description

Leeds United suffered their second heaviest of the season through Saturday’s hosting of Arsenal - leading to a Whites change in the bookies’ relegation odds and new predicted final Premier League table.

Daniel Farke’s Whites lined up for the visit of title-favourites Arsenal having lost just one of their last ten league games but two goals in each half gave Mikel Arteta’s Gunners a comfortable 4-0 success.

The defeat left fifth-bottom Leeds six points clear of the relegation zone but offering third-bottom West Ham the chance to close in with Saturday’s teatime kick-off at Chelsea.

Seeking a third consecutive victory, the Hammers raced into a 2-0 lead but Chelsea pulled off a brilliant comeback to ultimately record a 3-2 victory in a crushing new blow for the Irons.

Nevertheless, Leeds now run the risk of dropping below fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest who are just one point behind the Whites but with Sunday’s hosting of 15th-placed Palace representing a game in hand.

Palace themselves are only two points ahead of Leeds who are also just two points adrift of 14th-placed Tottenham Hotspur who host title-chasing Manchester City on Sunday.

The picture has changed and so too have the bookies’ relegation odds and predicted final table based on those. Here, using title odds for sides expected to finish in the top half, is the full new rundown from top to bottom.

Leeds United will be looking to bolster their squad when the transfer window opens on January 1st to help in their fight to stave off Premier League relegation. The main area of Daniel Farke’s side that has been debated in the first months of this season has been the attack. The Whites forward line has found it hard to click until recently, when they have scored nine goals in four league games.

This run includes an ongoing unbeaten streak in games against Chelsea, Liverpool and Brentford, which has eased pressure on the German manager and seen Leeds move three points clear of the drop zone. One big-name player who has been made available is Tottenham Hotspur’s Brennan Johnson. BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel has reported that while the north London club are not actively trying to sell the 24-year-old, they are open to selling him if they receive a suitable offer.

This news will certainly have recruitment teams across the league interested, as a forward of Johnson’s calibre is not on the market very often, and it could lead to interest from Leeds, who will be looking for reinforcements at the top of the pitch.

Crystal Palace are the side most advanced in their interest for the Welsh forward, but other teams are monitoring the situation as well, according to the report. And one of those could be Leeds, who will be on the lookout for players who could make a difference to their side and really do a job in keeping them in the Premier League. The Welsh winger scored the winning goal in the Europa League final last season, but has not kicked on this season, only scoring two goals in 14 Premier League appearances.

Leeds interested in Arsenal youngster

Leeds have been keeping an eye on a number of players to add to the academy recently, and another of those could be Arsenal youngster Nefeye Osazee.

According to The Talent Hunter on X, the under-16 player is on the radar of the Elland Road side, as well as other Premier League clubs.

No decision has been made on Osazee’s future yet, however.

LUFC news: 8.6-rated Leeds star in PL Team of the Week after West Ham win - Yorkshire Evening Post
Description

Leeds United produced a massive performance to beat West Ham 2-1 over the weekend and one star has been rewarded with a place in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week. Early goals from Brenden Aaronson and Joe Rodon put the Whites two goals up inside 15 minutes and a strong defensive showing kept the Hammers largely at arm’s length.

Mateus Fernandes pulled one back for the visitors late on but it proved little more than a consolation, with Leeds claiming their third Premier League win of the season to pull six points clear of the relegation zone. There were several standout performances on Friday, namely opening goalscorer Aaronson who was given a 9/10 in YEP chief football writer Graham Smyth’s player ratings.

The American was labelled ‘monstrous’ by BBC pundit Troy Deeney and has been named in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week. Take a look below to see who else made the cut, including top performers from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and more.

Leeds United are already planning for the January transfer window as they look to build on what was a hectic summer of recruitment.

The Whites brought in ten new additions at a cost of around £100 million as the likes of Sean Longstaff, Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson all arrived at Elland Road and joined Daniel Farke’s ranks ahead of the new Premier League season.

Thoughts have turned towards securing further new additions ahead of the January transfer window and there have been suggestions the Whites will focus their attention on bringing in a winger and another striker as they look to preserve their top flight status and ensure their Premier League stay is extended beyond a solitary season.

However, Leeds will also look retain the services of several players and a number of their brightest prospects - and there have been reports suggesting highly-rated youngster Harry Gray is right at the top of that list. The 17-year-old forward has been a regular goalscorer in the Whites youth ranks and he has made a solitary senior appearance after he came off the bench during the final weeks of last season in a 6-0 win against Stoke City. Gray was an unused substitute in the 3-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last month and there is an expectation the youngster will push for a first top flight appearance before the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen on a move for Gray as they look to reunite him with older brother Archie - but one recent report has suggested the Whites are planning a move to warn off interest from elsewhere.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Premier League Show on Monday, reporter Rob Jones said: “Leeds United remain hopeful that Harry Gray will soon sign his first professional contract. After several reports claimed that Tottenham were interested in reuniting the striker with his brother Archie in north London.”

What has Daniel Farke said about Harry Gray and Archie Gray?

Speaking ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to Elland Road earlier this month: "Archie's way how to develop as a young player and show maturity is always a role model for each and every young player. But I don't want to put too much weight on Harry's shoulders. He's playing in a different position and you need different skills and even personality. You need natural arrogance, not to be too big time, but in terms of self confidence and being cheeky. Just give me the ball and I'm the main man. I wouldn't compare too much. He's still on the way to develop and he's a different age."
