Two men deny burgling Tottenham stadium during Beyonce concert - Yahoo News UK
Description

Two men have denied charges of burgling Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the night Beyoncé played to a sell-out crowd.

Alirza Dag and Murat Kodalakoglu, both 23, are accused of accessing a VIP rooftop terrace at the north London venue.

The pair also face charges of causing £1,700 worth of damage to an electronic keypad used to gain entry to the exclusive terrace.

At Wood Green Crown Court on Thursday, Dag admitted criminal damage to the door access control panel, while his co-defendant pleaded not guilty to the same charge.

Defence lawyers Tetevi Davie and Anisa Kebbati, representing Dag and Kodalakoglu respectively, stated that their clients had no intention to steal in relation to the burglary allegations. Ms Kebbati added: "(Kodalakoglu) denies any intent or involvement in criminal damage."

Their trial has been scheduled for 18 February 2030. Due to the significant time until the hearing, Judge Daniel Fugallo imposed a sole bail condition: that they inform their solicitors within seven days of any change to their address or contact number.

The prosecution had previously claimed at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court that the two men broke in "with intent to steal".

The incident occurred on 16 June last year, during the final night of six sold-out shows at the Spurs ground for Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter world tour.

Dag, from Tottenham, and Kodalakoglu, from Chelmsford, are alleged to have burgled Lilywhite House, which houses administration offices at the £1 billion stadium.

They are accused of cutting wires on the electronic access panel to gain entry to a balcony terrace typically reserved for senior club executives.

Beyonce also performed a series of concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2023.

The pop star headed over to the English capital to play hits from her Renaissance album at the venue that officially opened in 2019.

Cristian Romero: Tottenham's captain criticised over Argentina trip

Cristian Romero: Tottenham's captain criticised over Argentina trip - Yahoo News UK
Description

Tottenham Hotspur's captain Cristian Romero has been criticised for travelling to Argentina just days before a crunch game for his side.

The defender was not expected to play in Sunday's home clash against Everton, which could decide his team's future Premier League status, due to a knee injury.

However, fans said he should still be there because of the importance of the match, and to support his teammates.

It is unclear if he will return to London in time.

But Former England captain Stuart Pearce said the timing of the trip "stinks".

A video of the Argentinian at the training ground of Buenos Aires-based Belgrano, was posted on X on Thursday by his boyhood club.

World Cup reaction after big names overlooked

If Roberto De Zerbi's team loses on Sunday, while West Ham beat Leeds, Spurs will be relegated to the Championship.

Any other combination of results for the London sides and Tottenham will stay up, while the Hammers go down.

Pearce told TalkSPORT: "If you're a Tottenham fan and your captain is thousands of miles away, wow, there's a statement there.

"That means I've [Romero] not got you in this problem, it's not my fault, that's what that statement sent out to me. It's not good."

Pearce said he had watched Romero, who recently signed a new contract at Spurs, play earlier this season and looked at "how he was playing [the] game, how selfish his defending was. I looked at him and I thought, 'that's your captain?'".

Romero was described as a "great captain" by De Zerbi on Monday.

If he does not return to the UK in time for Sunday, it is thought the 28-year-old may instead watch his boyhood club's game against River Plate in a title-deciding final that same day.

Belgrano president Luis Artime told TyC Sports: "Yesterday he [Romero] was training and I told him I think he's going to be the one who arrives at the World Cup in the best shape. I've seen him and he's in great form. He's going to arrive well-rested, ready to join the team at its peak."

Romero was not at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, where Spurs lost 2-1 to Chelsea, but he was present for his side's draw with Leeds on 11 May.

According to De Zerbi, he has contributed to the squad's preparations despite being unable to play since mid-April.

But any absence on Sunday for one of the biggest Premier League matches in Tottenham's history may prove the final straw for some supporters.

Sky News has contacted Spurs to ask if Romero will return in time for Sunday's match.

A Tottenham Hotspur footballer who was involved in a minor car accident on Tuesday ahead of a European fixture is reportedly "fine".

Randal Kolo Muani, a forward for Tottenham, was involved in the incident on his way to the airport ahead of the Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Head coach Thomas Frank confirmed the incident and said both players are expected to be available for the match at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Mr Frank said: "Everyone else involved in that accident was fine.

"It was a tyre blowing up, so, they are a little bit delayed but they will land later tonight."

Photos shared on social media showed Mr Kolo Muani and his teammate Wilson Odobert standing beside a damaged black Ferrari.

Mr Odobert was reportedly in a separate vehicle but stopped to assist.

Both players travelled together to Germany.

Mr Frank said: "They're fine, it was on the way to the airport.

"I haven't spoken to them personally yet.

"The first message is that they are fine and nothing happened, as I said the first time.

"They will fly out later and I fully expect both to be available for tomorrow."

Soccer-Nunez claims dramatic win for Liverpool, Werner on target for Spurs - Yahoo News UK
Description

With 98 minutes played at the City Ground it seemed Liverpool were set to drop two crucial points in the Premier League title race but Darwin Nunez struck a last-gasp winner to secure a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. It was the 18th time Liverpool have scored a winner beyond 90 minutes in the Premier League since Juergen Klopp took charge but few felt more important as the Reds maintained the relentless pressure at the top of the table. Klopp's side's eighth win in nine league games left them on 63 points from 27 games, four points ahead of champions Manchester City who host Manchester United on Sunday and five ahead of Arsenal who play Sheffield United on Monday.
