Tottenham rocked as Florentino Perez chooses confirmed manager target to join Real Madrid - TEAMtalk
Description

One of the two managers Tottenham are banking on to take charge next season could be whisked away to Real Madrid instead, according to a report.

Tottenham are fighting for their Premier League survival right now, and it’s not inconceivable a second mid-season managerial change is made.

TEAMtalk has consistently reported on the possibility Igor Tudor is removed from power. The Croatian has overseen three defeats from three so far, and in truth, there are precious few signs the players are buying what he’s selling.

Tudor looks set to remain in charge for two more matches at least (Atletico Madrid – Champions League / Liverpool – Premier League). But if it becomes five defeats in five, change could be on the horizon.

If Spurs do push the panic button are fire Tudor, we understand Robbie Keane is the frontrunner to take charge until the end of the season.

However, plans are also being formulated for the future, and multiple sources have confirmed Tottenham’s top two manager targets ahead of the 2026/27 campaign – assuming they’re still a Premier League side – are Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino.

But according to the latest from ESPN, Spurs might be denied the opportunity to reunite with Pochettino in north London.

Real Madrid too are on the hunt for a new permanent manager in the summer. Despite the overwhelming noise, there is nothing in the speculation linking Jurgen Klopp with the role and any claims he’s already agreed a deal are simply fake news.

Instead, ESPN state Real supremo, Florentino Perez, is smitten with Pochettino who he rates highly. Pochettino will guide the USA into a home World Cup this summer, but his deal expires once their journey in that tournament ends.

The report’s headline read: ‘USMNT’s Mauricio Pochettino on shortlist to become Real Madrid boss next season.’

The report then shed further light on why Pochettino is admired to much by Perez and his Real underlings, adding: ‘Sources say that Madrid are evaluating different candidates to lead the new sporting project and that Pochettino is one of the coaches highly regarded by president Florentino Pérez.

‘He has been heavily linked with a return to Spurs this summer, although his former team have endured a disastrous season and are in the thick of a relegation battle in the Premier League.

‘The current coach of the United States — whose contract runs through this summer’s World Cup — had previously been linked with the Madrid job after leading Tottenham Hotspur to the Champions League final in 2019.

‘Pochettino, who knows LaLiga well from his playing days, has past experience managing high-profile players during his time at Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. However, one of the points most valued by the Madrid is that he coached Kylian Mbappé for two seasons in Paris.’

The brutal truth for Spurs fans – and this won’t surprise any of them – is that if it’s a straight choice between Tottenham and Real Madrid for Pochettino, there’ll only be one winner.

That could push Spurs down the De Zerbi route, and a recent report from The Telegraph claimed initial talks with the Italian have opened.

Three Spurs 'high-profile' stars chosen for summer AXE with relegation or not in 'decisive' next step - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly picked out three ‘high-profile’ players to sell this summer, with plans laid out for a ‘decisive’ overhaul in the wake of the club’s dismal season, which has seen the club sailing painfully close to relegation.

Tottenham‘s embarrassing decline has made it abundantly clear that they need a significant rebuild, regardless of whether they avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

And the north London outfit appears to have acknowledged this, with a report from The Telegraph shedding light on their ‘decisive plans’ for a summer overhaul ahead of next season.

Club captain Cristian Romero is the main ‘high-profile’ player they are ‘open to cashing in’ on this summer, with Guglielmo Vicario and Pedro Porro also on the exit ramp.

Romero is capable of reaching an immense level, but he has been a major liability for Spurs this season and the decision to make him captain has backfired.

Despite this, Romero still retains a strong reputation across Europe and has been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid. We understand that he is among the seven current Spurs players at risk ahead of a summer exodus.

Only three big-name Spurs players to leave? Really?

Romero, Vicario and Porro are presumably at risk of being sold more than others as they are still likely to attract sizable bids from buying clubs, but they should not be alone in facing being offloaded in the summer.

Tottenham’s board and recent managers certainly share a portion of the blame for their current position, but the squad have also been shambolic and there is not even a handful of players who can hold their heads high for their form this season.

Romero is among those whom head coach Igor Tudor cannot rely on, with ex-Premier League manager Sam Allardyce recently hitting out at the erratic centre-defender over his ill-discipline this season.

“Cristian Romero is one of those typical players who just doesn’t learn. He’s got so much talent, but so many flaws which he hasn’t eradicated. He’s still making the same mistakes as when he first signed for Tottenham,” Alladryce said on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast.

“Either he gets stripped of the captaincy, or someone says to him, ‘stay on your feet, I don’t want you to go to ground when you tackle anymore’, and if he continues to do it, then take him out of the side. He’s giving his managers a bad reputation for not being able to control him.

“If you’re a centre-half, your first priority is being a defender, not how good you are with the ball – that’s only an added bonus. Romero is just so irrational, which is alright when you first join a club, but he should have been nailed by Thomas Frank for it and he wasn’t.”

Latest Tottenham news: Tudor sack demanded as Spurs play ‘crucial’ role in Arsenal deal

With regards Vicario’s potential exit, reports in Italy have claimed the goalkeeper has been left feeling ‘drained’ by their struggles and has already made clear his wish to leave this summer and amid suggestions he has ‘not warmed’ to Tudor.

Tudor is yet to spark an upturn in results and/or performances at Spurs, and several pundits have called for him to be sacked after only three games in charge.

Should Spurs to part ways with Tudor in the coming weeks, they may miss out on one of their leading manager targets as he is keen on a move to Manchester United instead.

Tottenham: FIVE pundits demand Igor Tudor sack as Spurs are told they are 'getting relegated'

Tottenham told they are 'getting relegated under Igor Tudor' as FIVE pundits deliver messages of doom to ENIC - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to keep the faith with Igor Tudor could cost the club their Premier League status, a range of pundits have warned, with all five agreeing that the club have gone backwards under the Croat and having warned they must sack him before it’s too late.

Spurs turned to the 47-year-old as the replacement for the sacked Thomas Frank after growing concerned at a downturn in results that had seen the club tumble towards the relegation zone. But after losing all three of his first matches at the helm, Tottenham now sit just a point clear of the chasing pack and have now gone 11 Premier League games, dating back to December 28, without a win.

That had led to calls that the interim boss could himself be axed, though it was revealed on the weekend that Spurs have decided to sit tight for now and give Tudor a little longer to prove himself.

Time, though, is not on his side, and Tudor has now reportedly been given a deadline by which to prove himself worthy of seeing the job through and with two alternatives lined up to see them through for the remainder of the season.

However, the decision to hire him and subsequently back him has been met with widespread condemnation from a series of observers who all now fear Tottenham’s season is heading in one direction only.

The criticism was led by Tim Sherwood, who told Sky Sports: “I’d like to know who makes the decisions to give him [Igor Tudor] the job in the first place. I mean, they’ve taken the lead off someone. No one at that football club would know anything about Igor Tudor, absolutely no.

“There’s not anyone would know anything about his career, but they would have spoken to Fabio Paratici, he is the only one who would have come across him. I know that Damian Comolli has a good relationship with Tottenham going back a lot of years. He’s the one who sacked him at Juve.

“If Daniel Levy were there, he would surely have spoken to Damien Comolli. He’s not there anymore, and I don’t know who’s making the footballing decisions, because whoever it is, he’s not doing a very good job of it, is he? I think, secretly, I think they wish they had never made this change. I think they would have hoped that they would have kept hold of Thomas Frank or rolled the dice in a different direction. I know it’s easy in hindsight, but did we really believe this guy [Tudor] was going to come in and hit the floor running?”

He added: “I keep saying it, this club cannot get relegated, well, it certainly can.

“The pressure of it, and I think he’s been slapped straight in the face by the competition in the Premier League, it ain’t easy, this is a tough competition. He knew nothing about it, and you keep chopping and changing [the team], and I understand why you chop and change when you can’t get the result, you chop and change.”

Igor Tudor sack: Tottenham warned the ship is sinking

Those views were also backed up by former captain Michael Dawson.

He told Sky Sports that the onus is now on the players to roll up their sleeves and focus on the matter in hand.

“He [Tudor] comes out after and says, ‘I want to take players who are on the boat going in one direction’. There’s one direction this boat’s going, and that’s sinking. It’s worrying because managers can come in and talk about tactics, forget that, forget tactics, they’ve gone out the window.

“It’s about trying to find some belief. I look at the players, it’s desperation at times. You see the decision from Micky van de Ven. When they get fortunate to be leading the game, I think, the goal disallowed is very unfortunate for Crystal Palace’s point of view, but Archie [Gray] actually does great down the right-hand side, pulls it back to Solanke, great.

“They’ve had a lifeline, they’re 1-0 up. Then, within the blink of an eye, a penalty’s being given, Micky van de Ven pulls Ismail Sarr down and now everything’s gone out the window. The clouds are coming in, the pressure’s on, you can feel it in the stadium.

“The players are looking around thinking, ‘can someone help me?’ No, there’s no one there to help. You look at each other, only we can get us out of this trouble and that is where they’re at at this moment in time.”

Appearing on talkSPORT, Teddy Sheringham also feels Spurs are going down.

“If they keep this manager in charge, then yes [they will be relegated],” Sheringham said.

“I’ve got to be honest, and when I heard the appointment first of all, it was like,e who, what, where have they pulled him from? So, I don’t know who’s uh pulled the trigger on that one, but for me, he’s learning on the job.

“I said that he doesn’t know enough about the Premier League. He doesn’t know enough about his players at Tottenham. He doesn’t know where to play him.

“You only have to look at the players that you look at the back five that he played last night, every one of them was slightly out of position. And if you’ve played football, you understand what I’m talking about. If someone asks you to be 20 yards different on a football pitch, it’s uncanny to you; it doesn’t feel right.

“You’ve got Danso playing as a sweeper. You got Porro playing as a right centre half. You’ve got Van de Ven playing as a left centre half. That none of them are in the right position. You got Souza playing, making his home debut, and he’s playing as a wing-back rather than a fullback. You know, last week, Gallagher was playing out on the right wing. It’s all wrong for me.”

The messages of doom keep coming too, with Jamie O’Hara revealing on Sky Sports when the manager should be sacked.

“I’d sack the manager. International break coming up, you’ve got a guy to come in and do a job. He needed to get quick results, he’s done that in the past. But if you look at the end of most of his managerial reigns, he’s terrible. Falls out with everyone and they get rid of him.

“But he’s lost three on the bounce, and the performances have got worse. His tactics are terrible. He’s miles off it, he’s shown no evidence he can get results, all he’s done is come in and moan about the problems there are at Tottenham. We know there are problems! That’s why he’s in the job. We’ve got worse.

“From what I saw on Thursday night, we’re going down at this moment in time. West Ham are performing better than us, Nottingham Forest have got fight in them. This team has got no fight whatsoever. They don’t want to be there, you can tell.”

Alan Shearer agrees that Spurs now need to sack Tudor before it is too late.

“I could see Spurs getting rid of Igor Tudor before the end of the season. It would not be a surprise to me with that club,” Shearer said.

“I have said all I can on Spurs, there is a real-life possibility that Spurs could be relegated and can you imagine that stadium in the Championship. Somehow, from somewhere, they are going to have to get some unity, because on Thursday, they just looked as if they were done.

“Unless that improves big style, then they are going down, because at least the others, at least Forest went to City and showed some fight. West Ham have dragged all of them back into it.

“It would be one of the biggest Premier League shocks if they were to go down. I mean, what would be bigger, Leicester winning it, or Spurs being relegated? I guess it is on a similar scale.

“It would be a shock to the system. It would, without doubt, be one of the biggest shocks of all time. I suppose, with that training ground, with that stadium. I mean, it is just unthinkable for them. I mean, you can imagine what it would do to them as a football club.”

Tottenham latest: Star ‘drained’ by struggles; move for January target rekindled

With regards to a new manager, Spurs’ hopes of turning to Roberto De Zerbi have taken a significant downturn after the Italian’s number one job objective this summer was made clear.

On the transfer front, reports in Italy claim a big-name Spurs star has been left feeling ‘drained’ by their struggles and has already made clear his wish to leave this summer amid claims he has ‘not warmed’ to Tudor.

Another star Tottenham look in serious danger of losing this summer, regardless of what division they find themselves in, is Micky van de Ven.

Now, a transfer expert has given his take on the £100m-rated star’s thinking this summer and with two major clubs leading the charge for his signature.

Fabrizio Romano names Arsenal’s ‘first’ summer signing and reveals ‘crucial’ Tottenham role in ‘gentleman’s agreement’ - TEAMtalk
Description

Fabrizio Romano has backed TEAMtalk’s revelation last month that Arsenal have a deal in place to make Piero Hincapie the first signing of the summer transfer window, with the transfer guru also outlining the role that Tottenham Hotspur played in the Gunners’ successful quest.

On February 24, 2026, our transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, exclusively broke the news that Arsenal are ‘preparing’ to make Hincapie’s loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen permanent this summer.

Arsenal have a buy option fixed for €52million (£45m, $61m) at the end of the season, and sources told us that the Premier League club are ready to trigger it.

A well-placed source, whose identity was withheld on condition of anonymity, told TEAMtalk at the time: “Piero has settled so well into the squad and the club as a whole. The staff are very happy with him, and he has just been getting better and better.”

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now backed our story and has outlined the details of the deal.

Romano has also noted how Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the 24-year-old Ecuador international defender last summer spurred Arsenal to get a deal done for him.

Hincapie, who can operate as a centre-back and as a left-back, has made 17 starts in the Premier League and two starts in the Champions League for Arsenal so far this season.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Yes, Piero Hincapie will be the first signing for Arsenal in summer 2026. It was always planned like this. If you remember with David Raya and Brentford, Arsenal did something similar a few years ago.

“So, signed a player on loan with a buy-out option clause but was always going to be a permanent transfer in the following summer, that’s what’s going to happen also with Piero Hincapie.

“There is already everything signed between Hincapie and Arsenal in terms of contract, a five-year deal. So, it’s already signed and completed. Piero Hincapie already feels as an Arsenal player on a permanent transfer.

“Bayer Leverkusen will receive a total package of €52million and Bayer Leverkusen will also keep a 10% sell-on clause for Piero Hincapie. So, this is the agreement.

“Everything will be formally announced at the very end of the season because obviously, in terms of Financial Fair Play, this was a gentleman’s agreement between Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal.

“But one of the crucial points in this negotiation also for Arsenal to anticipate Tottenham in August 2025 when Arsenal decided to go for Piero Hincapie was to guarantee a permanent transfer.

“Otherwise, Tottenham were prepared to pay and get the player immediately. Arsenal guaranteed a permanent transfer.

“Arsenal always trusted Piero Hincapie. He’s doing very well. He can play as centre-back, left-back. Arteta is very happy, so there is no doubt and they are going to continue together.”

Newcastle line up first of many blockbuster raids on Tottenham if they’re relegated

Newcastle line up first of many blockbuster raids on Tottenham if they’re relegated - TEAMtalk
Description

As many as FIFTEEN first-team players will leave Tottenham if they’re relegated, and a report claims Newcastle are already lining up a move for one of the best.

Tottenham sit just a single point above the drop zone at present, and if going off the form book, you could be forgiven for thinking it’s game over already.

Spurs haven’t won a Premier League game in 2026, with their record in the calendar year so far reading zero wins, four draws and seven defeats. Tottenham haven’t picked up a point since February 1.

A first relegation since 1977 is a very real possibility, and per The Athletic, Spurs fans can expect their club to let as many as 15 recognised stars go if they drop a division.

The 15 named in the piece were: Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Djed Spence, Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero. Kevin Danso, Conor Gallagher, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Dominic Solanke.

The most frustrating aspect of this situation is that many of those players are highly regarded within the game, and if leaving Spurs, most if not all will either join clubs of roughly equal standing or even higher profile sides.

The latest from The Daily Mail has now shed light on what’s in store for the final player on that list – Dominic Solanke.

They state Newcastle at the behest of Eddie Howe will look to spring Solanke’s signing in the summer. Of course, it was stressed they’d only stand a chance of sealing this deal if Spurs go down.

Solanke has a keen backer in Howe who managed the striker during their days at Bournemouth. Whilst Solanke has struggled with injuries of late, he has proven himself a potent marksman in the top flight when fit, notching 31 league goals in his last 75 league games.

The report noted Spurs would attempt to retain Solanke even if they go down, but it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see a player of his calibre push to leave and attempt to force the club’s hand. Put simply, Solanke is too good to spend a prime year of his career in the Championship.

A move to St. James’ Park might actually see Solanke walk straight into Howe’s starting eleven too.

After missing out on Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike, Newcastle wound up signing Nick Woltemade to offset Alexander Isak’s record-breaking £125m move to Liverpool.

After a bright start, the rangy German has crashed back down to earth and his struggles in front of goal have been symptomatic of a middling Newcastle season.

Latest Newcastle & Tottenham news – Sandro Tonali / Transfer sabotage / Crysencio Summerville

In other news, Newcastle could warm up to the sale of Manchester United and Arsenal target, Sandro Tonali, in the summer, and a fresh report out of his native Italy has revealed one condition in play that rules a suitor out.

Down in north London, a Tottenham star heavily linked with leaving and who is on the radars of both Liverpool and Manchester United has demolished his chances of earning a move to either club with his recent actions, according to Glen Johnson.

Tottenham ace just destroyed his chances of joining Liverpool or Man Utd – pundit - TEAMtalk
Description

A Tottenham star heavily linked with leaving and who is on the radars of both Liverpool and Manchester United has demolished his chances of earning a move to either club with his recent actions, according to Glen Johnson.

The irony at Tottenham right now is that despite the club’s monumental struggles this season, there’s no shortage of in-demand stars who if leaving, would likely go on to join bigger sides much further up the table.

Chief among them is centre-back, Micky van de Ven, who numerous sources have confirmed has very real chances of leaving the club at season’s end.

The Daily Mail recently declared the Dutchman is ‘keen’ to move on. That came after sources told TEAMtalk back in February that a summer switch is definitely in play.

Liverpool – in the market for a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk at left centre-back – hold confirmed interest.

So too do Real Madrid, while our insider, Fraser Fletcher, has been informed Man Utd will be in the mix too if the green light to a blockbuster transfer is given.

Reports have talked up a mammoth £100m price tag, which buying clubs would naturally attempt to bring down to something more palatable.

But according to former Chelsea, Liverpool and England right-back, Glen Johnson, Van de Ven is inadvertently torpedoing any hopes he might have of joining one of England’s two biggest clubs.

Van de Ven was recently spotted appearing to ignore the mid-match tactical instructions of his manager, Igor Tudor, in the heavy defeat to Arsenal.

That came after Van de Ven was seen snubbing former boss Thomas Frank in the aftermath of a loss to Chelsea earlier in the campaign.

Johnson believes those types of actions will not go unnoticed at Anfield and Old Trafford, and that sort of behaviour – especially if it’s a pattern and not a one-off – would not be tolerated.

“Managers need to know that ability alone isn’t enough,” said Johnson (as quoted by the Liverpool Echo).

“Players need to be willing to do what their teammates, the manager, and the team require in games.

“It’s not nice to see someone publicly disagreeing with in-house decisions like Micky van de Ven did.

“Disagreeing in the dressing room or on the training ground is fine, as you want the best for everyone.

“But to do it publicly is off-putting. It gives the impression that a player is better than the rest. And maybe he is, but that’s not the point. You don’t want to see that.

Johnson added: “Van de Ven at Liverpool or Manchester United? There’d probably be a lot of (Tottenham) players that people would want to look at, but the ones they are looking at are still the players who are in this team and in a relegation battle.

“So there would be a couple of gems you could get on the cheap, for sure. But, as I say, if they were that good, they wouldn’t be in this position.”

Next Man Utd manager: 'Incredible' boss 'keen' on Man Utd job as Tottenham plan crushed

‘Incredible’ manager ‘keen’ on Man Utd job as Tottenham dream significantly dented - TEAMtalk
Description

Manchester United have been given the belief that one of the leading candidates to become their next manager is ready to say YES to the challenge of becoming Ruben Amorim’s permanent successor, with Tottenham Hotspur fading from the picture and with the Red Devils narrowing their shortlist to just three options.

The north-west giants have been on a fine run of form since Michael Carrick took on the interim role, steering Manchester United to six wins from his first seven matches while in interim charge to not just kickstart their Champions League hopes, but also fuelling the 44-year-old’s dream of taking on the job permanently.

But after TEAMtalk insisted way back on February 20, in the midst of Carrick and United’s fine form, that the interim coach was not the frontrunner for the job and United bosses, led by chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox, were continuing to do their due diligence on other, preferred candidates, their hopes of landing one of them has now been given a significant push forward by a trusted source.

And the manager in question – former Brighton and Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi – has now made it clear that United are his preferred choice for a new job this summer, preferring the Red Devils over rival interest in his services from Tottenham Hotspur.

Once branded ‘incredible’ [ESPN, May 2023] for his work with the Seagulls, sources have made it clear that De Zerbi is keen on a return to the Premier League this summer after recently departing his role as Marseille head coach.

And in a new update on his situation, The Telegraph now claims De Zerbi is ‘keen’ on the Old Trafford hotseat.

‘If Tottenham do survive, then Roberto de Zerbi, who left Marseille by mutual consent in February, could be a long-term option, the paper writes.

‘He has been of interest to Manchester United and is understood to be keen on the Old Trafford job, and already figures prominently on their shortlist as they also decide on who will be their next permanent head coach’

‘He has made no secret of the fact that he would like to, one day, manage again in the Premier League at a leading club.

‘De Zerbi’s stock remains high with senior figures at United – and Spurs – admiring his front-foot style of attacking football and how he wants his teams to dominate the ball.’

De Zerbi to Man Utd? What sources are saying…

Back on January 6, and just days after Amorim had been relieved of his duties, our reporter Fraser Fletcher exclusively broke the news that De Zerbi was very much a genuine contender for the United hotseat.

And even though he was still employed by Marseille at the time of writing, Fletcher had been told by sources that the Italian had made it clear to his agents that he felt he had both taken the French side as far as he could and that he also had very serious designs on a return to the Premier League.

The fact that he would go on to leave OM just a matter of weeks later only served to vindicate Fletcher’s belief and his sources.

Fletcher also reported how INEOS had strongly considered the Italian as an option to replace Erik ten Hag prior to the appointment of Amorim, only to turn elsewhere and opt, regrettably, instead for the Portuguese.

Now the pathway appears clear to land the 46-year-old, who boasts a 42.98% win record across his 463-game managerial career.

With Carrick not completely out of the picture but certainly fading from conversations, reporter Ben Jacobs last week outlined the three names now under consideration for the top job at Old Trafford.

Per the reporter, he claimed the three managers INEOS are weighing up hiring are De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto Martinez.

Carrick was overlooked, while Jacobs also confirmed high-profile pair, Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel, are NOT in the running.

Jacobs, though, has mentioned former Wigan and Everton boss Martinez before, though is among the very few who have done so when discussing the United vacancy. The appointment of Martinez – who is the current manager of Portugal – would come as a major surprise to many.

As far as Nagelsmann is concerned, our correspondent, Graeme Bailey, was ahead of the curve when delivering the goods on Nagelsmann last week, having confirmed that the 38-year-old German wants the Old Trafford job…

Man Utd latest: Barcelona links draw Romano response; PSG superstar eyed

Meanwhile, rumours of moving for one of Barcelona’s homegrown starters has prompted Fabrizio Romano to weigh in with the full truths on what’s really happening.

The Italian reporter has also weighed in on speculation linking United icon Cristiano Ronaldo with a move to Chelsea – and he could not help but chuckle at the rumours.

In other news, Man Utd are being tipped to launch a sensational raid on French giants PSG for a top attacking talent in the summer transfer window, although any move looks to have a major caveat attached to it.

Elsewhere, it’s been reported that United have sabotaged their own transfer with the deal now OFF – and the player in question will secretly be glad.

Tottenham frontrunners to sign electric West Ham forward as nine-club battle ignites - TEAMtalk
Description

West Ham forward Crysencio Summerville has played his way onto the summer shopping lists of a number of clubs after an outstanding recent run of form, with Tottenham Hotspur at the front of the queue, TEAMtalk can reveal.

The 24-year-old attacker has been in sublime form for the Hammers in recent weeks, scoring seven goals and providing one assist across his last 10 appearances, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men fight to push away from the relegation zone.

His performances for West Ham have not gone unnoticed across the Premier League and beyond, and with his form also seeing Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman admitting the winger is under consideration for a call-up to his national squad.

Sources have confirmed to us that Tottenham retain strong interest in the Dutch forward. Indeed, we revealed back in January that the north London outfit were exploring a winter window swoop from Summerville.

However, both clubs currently have their focus fixed firmly on securing their top-flight status before turning their full attention to summer recruitment plans.

Our sources understand that several other Premier League sides are also tracking Summerville’s progress closely. Indeed, Aston Villa, Brentford, Everton and Bournemouth are all keeping tabs on the winger ahead of the next transfer window.

Interest is not limited to England either.

On the continent, Marseille, Napoli, Atalanta and Villarreal are understood to be monitoring the situation with genuine intent.

However, much could depend on how West Ham’s season concludes.

Sources indicate that if the Hammers successfully retain their place in the Premier League, the club will have no intention of entertaining offers for one of their most in-form players.

Should circumstances change, though, Summerville’s impressive end to the campaign has ensured there will be no shortage of admirers ready to make their move this summer.

The winger is set to be back in action for West Ham on Monday evening when Nuno’s side host Brentford in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Stressed Tottenham Hotspur chiefs may have decided to stand by Igor Tudor for now, but the Croatian remains far from safe in the job and now has just four games to save himself from the sack, a trusted source has revealed, and with two new options to step into his shoes identified.

The Croatian was brought in as a replacement for the sacked Thomas Frank, who had Spurs hurtling towards the dropzone after a dismal run of form across the season. But if Tottenham chiefs were hoping for a new manager bounce, their hopes have been badly misplaced with the club slipping to three successive losses under the 47-year-old.

Now just a point clear of the relegation zone and winless in 11 Premier League games, a run stretching back to December 28, Spurs are strongly considering another change of leadership to ensure they don’t fall to a first relegation in 49 years, dating back to 1977.

However, after we confirmed on Sunday that CEO Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director Johan Lange had decided to stick with Tudor for now, he is far from out of the woods yet and still has plenty to prove if he is to see out his contract through to the end of the season.

To that end, The Telegraph reports that Tudor has been given four games to prove himself and to ensure he does not become the second Tottenham managerial casualty of the season.

Next up, Spurs face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16, before a vital Premier League trip to Liverpool. The second leg of their UCL clash with Atleti takes place on Wednesday 18 March, before a vital period concludes with a huge relegation six-pointer at home to Nottingham Forest on Sunday 22 March.

And if positive results and improved performances are not witnessed in all four of those games, then Tudor will likely be relieved of his duties with a three-week break between games after that, owing to the March international break and the club’s failure to advance in the FA Cup.

Behind the scenes, Spurs are continuing to carry out extensive work on potential candidates to step in and replace him as manager, both on an interim basis and in the long run…

Next Tottenham manager: Spurs assessing options

Indeed, sources say the club are “working hard”, assessing a range of options as they consider who could succeed the former Juventus boss.

As previously revealed, former Tottenham legend Robbie Keane is among the names under consideration. The club hold Keane in high regard, and his connection with Spurs makes him an intriguing option as discussions continue internally.

Other managers are also being explored. Roberto De Zerbi is understood to be admired by figures within the club, although sources indicate he is not enthusiastic about the prospect of stepping into the role right now, given the turmoil the club finds itself in, and the Italian could insisttead delay a decision on his future until the summer.

In the meantime, two other names have now been thrust into contention to become an interim boss through til the season’s end, with Italian outlet Tuttosport claiming Spurs have identified Ryan Mason and Sean Dyche as two candidates to take the job until the summer if they do decide to sack Tudor.

In addition to those two, the paper claims Keane, Roberto De Zerbi, and Thiago Motta are also on the club’s radar, though that trio with regards a long-term summer appointment and subject, of course, to the club still being a Premier League side come next season.

But if Tudor does fall on his sword and fail to show signs of improvement, then the club will not hesitate to swing the axe once again, with one of Dyche or Mason likely to be asked to steer the ship through til the season’s end and help the club gain enough points required to preserve their Premier League status for another season at least.

Tottenham latest: Barcelona chase Spurs talent; big-name star wants out

Meanwhile, Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson has broken his silence on why he remained with Liverpool in January despite a £5m move to Tottenham being agreed, while the Scotland captain has also lifting the lid on his future plans, and with the 31-year-old currently set to enter free agency status this summer.

Elsewhere, Tottenham could be in trouble of losing another star in a crucial position after Sky Germany revealed that Barcelona have opened preliminary transfer talks with the representatives of one of the club’s brightest young talents.

Another star Tottenham look in serious danger of losing this summer, regardless of what division they find themselves in, is Micky van de Ven.

Now, a transfer expert has given his take on the £100m-rated star’s thinking this summer and with two major clubs leading the charge for his signature.

And finally, reports in Italy claim another big-name Spurs star has been left feeling ‘drained’ by their struggles and has already made clear his wish to leave this summer amid claims he has ‘not warmed’ to Tudor.

Liverpool legend Andy Robertson reveals transfer truths over failed Tottenham winter window switch - TEAMtalk
Description

Legendary Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has broken his silence over rejecting a winter transfer window switch to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, while also hinting at what his future holds on Merseyside.

Robertson was close to joining Spurs late in the winter window, with sources at the time telling us that the Reds were willing to sell Robertson for £5million (€5.7m, $7m), with the left-back himself ready to swap Anfield for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the middle of the season.

However, following Joe Gomez’s injury against Bournemouth, Liverpool pulled the plug on the deal, with club captain Virgil van Dijk also speaking out against selling Robertson.

The call was then taken for the Scotland skipper to stay on Merseyside, and speaking after Friday’s 3-1 win over Wolves in the FA Cup, he stated that the choice was his to make, as the 31-year-old opened up on what the future now holds for him.

Robertson, who has been at the Reds since 2017 and has made well over 350 appearances for the club, is entering the final months of his Anfield contract and hinted that he is open to extending beyond the summer.

As our sources have previously reported, an emotional return to Celtic could also still be in play, with Robertson having a brief stint in the Glasgow giant’s youth set-up.

As for the decision to snub Tottenham, who are now deep in the relegation mire and could have done with Robertson’s leadership skills, the Scot revealed: “There was obviously interest there – there were discussions had with both sets of clubs. But the decision was that I wanted to stay. We stayed at Liverpool and that was the decision made.

“I was never not committed. I’ve been committed to Liverpool for the last eight and a half or nine years now and I’ll be committed until I’m no longer needed. That’s always been my mindset. This club has given me everything and I’ve given this club everything.

“It’s been a fantastic relationship so hopefully that continues and obviously January happened, but it is now gone. Now we move forward and like I said, my focus never came off trying to help the lads on the pitch and in training.

“Whatever was happening behind the scenes happened, and all I can say is that I kept focusing on football.

“I’ve always said that [the talks] will stay between me and the club. I don’t think it will get played out in public. It is not one of them. I have got an amazing relationship with Richard Hughes and with Mike Gordon and Michael Edwards.

“I’ve had a good relationship with these people and these people brought me to the football club. They have helped make me who I am, so in that respect, we’ve had a fantastic relationship. I think out of respect to them, and they have respected me, then the conversations will be in-house.

“When a decision is made, and we’re getting to the point where I only have three months left on my contract, it will be announced to you guys.”

Robertson fully focused on strong end to Liverpool’s season

Robertson, who scored the opening goal against Wolves in Friday’s cup win, also rejected any notion that the remainder of the current campaign will be about him ensuring he personally finishes ‘on a high’ after nine years of service on Merseyside.

He added: “That is not really in my thought process. My thought process is I want to win trophies at Liverpool. That has always been my focus. Every season, I want to win trophies, whether that is an FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, the Champions League, the Premier League.

“I always want to win trophies because the club demands it and the fans demand it. That has never changed. All of our focus is on trying to make this season as successful as possible. It’s not gone the way that we wanted in the league – that is clear.

“We’re out of the Carabao Cup, so we have got two chances. If we have more performances like we did tonight, then we have a chance. If we play like Tuesday then we have no chance. So we need to try and find that consistency.

“Hopefully at the end of the season we can all have a smile on our faces and that is obviously what we are working towards.”
