Thomas Frank’s dream Tottenham attack as TWO explosive signings run riot - TEAMtalk
Description

Thomas Frank will be looking to put his own stamp on Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the 2025/26 season and TEAMtalk has taken a look at how the Dane’s frontline could shape up, with a new winger signing, as well as a highly-rated playmaker pulling the strings in the No.10 role.

Spurs’ summer transfer window business has largely been underwhelming so far, having turned their loan moves for Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel into permanent transfers. The club have paid £5millon to sign Japan international centre-back Kota Takai from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale.

Midfield and forward positions remain a big focus for Frank when it comes to improving his starting XI though, with Tottenham finishing as the joint-seventh highest scorers in the Premier League last season – despite finishing just a place above the drop zone.

To that end, TEAMtalk has focused on the final third of Frank’s team and the players who are first choice and backups in his favoured 4-3-3 formation. However, it must be said that the former Brentford boss is far more interchangeable than Ange Postecoglou when it comes to mixing up how his teams line up and the personnel he uses.

That being said, let’s take a look at those forward positions and how things could shake down in north London…

Strikers

Record signing Dominic Solanke remains Frank’s first-choice No.9, with the former Bournemouth man expected to thrive more in a slightly more direct style of play under the new Spurs chief.

Solanke scored 16 goals in 45 games in all competitions in his first full season at Spurs but had time out with four niggling injuries that hampered his ability to get up a full head of steam in north London.

Frank loves his forwards to press, which is something Solanke does exceptionally well, while build-up play is more likely to go through the central striker in a way that will utilise the England man’s power, pace and technical ability more.

With Solanke starting, Tottenham still need a quality backup, given the demands of domestic and European football, and that’s where it’s goodbye Saudi Pro League target Richarlson and welcome Nice star Evann Guessand.

Spurs tried twice to sign the 24-year-old in the January window and it’s third time lucky here as a deal worth around €28m (£24m) for the Ivory Coast international is struck.

His overall record last season was an impressive one, recording 13 goals and 10 assists in 42 games in all competitions, although the majority of his appearances came on the right wing.

Guessand did play through the middle on 13 occasions, and also lined up on the left six times to showcase his versatility which – for the money Nice are asking for his services – is right up Daniel Levy’s street.

Spurs have also Son Heung-min and Tel, who can both play centrally, while highly-rated young forward Dane Scarlett will also be around – unless he is packed off on loan again for more experience.

Right-wingers

This was largely Brennan Johnson’s domain last season, especially when Dejan Kulusevski was pushed into the No.10 role, and stats-wise it’s hard to argue that he did not have an exceptional campaign.

The Wales international was the club’s top scorer with 18 goals and also netted seven assists, but his general play outside of those stats often left a lot to be desired – particularly against the bigger teams.

To that end, Frank pushes Kulusevski back to his old role on the right flank in order to open the door to the signing of a new creative playmaker just behind the forward line.

While it’s tough on Johnson, Kulusevski was arguably the club’s player of the season before suffering a campaign-ending injury and is a more consistent performer than the former Nottingham Forest man.

Summer signing Tel is also an option for that position, as is Wilson Odobert and young talent Mikey Moore.

Left-wingers

There is where a big new signing makes his mark in Mohammed Kudus, although the Ghana star is capable of playing any position across the frontline.

Having had offers rebuffed by West Ham, Tottenham finally get their man and give Thomas Frank an explosive threat out wide with a player who has yet to reach his full potential.

The addition of Kudus does relegate club legend Son Heung-min to a backup role, after he decided to see out the final year of his contract before likely heading to MLS in the summer of 2026.

In truth, Son was not the same player last season that he’s been in previous campaigns, having seemingly lost a yard of pace and that clinical finishing ability.

Despite that, the South Korean still managed 11 goals and 12 assists as he lifted the club’s first piece of silverware in 17 years after their Europa League triumph.

Son will, however, face major competition from Tel for that role behind Kudus and there remains a slim chance that Spurs may still look to offload him while he has some transfer value.

New creative playmaker

Although our focus here has been on the front three, supplying the ammunition for those attackers is critical, and that is where Tottenham splash out again to bring in RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.

The Netherlands international costs in the region of £60m but arguably gives Frank an upgrade on the inconsistent James Maddison in that role.

Maddison has, for the most part, been a success in north London but there are games where he has very little impact – most notably against some of the bigger teams – and the signing of Simons gives Spurs a more versatile attacking midfield option who is capable of filling multiple different roles.

That, in turn, makes him fit in more with Frank’s tendency to alter formation depending on who his team are facing from week to week.

Tough on Maddison but he will still have a major role to play as Frank and Tottenham cope with the demands of domestic and European football in 2025/26.

New Tottenham signing gets stunning endorsement after outshining Cristiano Ronaldo - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans can start to get excited about new arrival Kota Takai as the 20-year-old has already outshone legendary figure Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Japanese football expert Alan Gibson.

Takai is a centre-half who can also play at right-back. Born in Yokohama, Japan, he came through the Kawasaki Frontale academy before going on to make 81 appearances in their first team.

Takai’s strong performances in the Kawasaki Frontale defence have seen him earn four caps for the Japan national team so far, as well as gain admirers from around Europe.

It is Tottenham who have ultimately won the race for his services. Spurs confirmed on Tuesday that they have signed Takai for £5million, tying him down to a five-year contract.

Takai was named the J League’s best young player for the 2024 campaign and has now become the division’s record sale.

The starlet came up against five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo when Kawasaki Frontale played Al-Nassr in the Asian Champions League semi-final in April.

He kept Ronaldo quiet as Kawasaki Frontale picked up a surprise victory over Al-Nassr before losing to another Saudi club, Al-Ahli, in the final.

During an appearance on talkSPORT, Gibson was asked to provide Spurs fans with some background information on their new player. He said: “He’s very, very good. He’s very fast.

“He’s registered at 6 foot 4, 6 foot 3 and a half, which is very unusual for a Japanese player and shouldn’t be a problem in the Premier League if size matters.

“And he’s only about 80, 82, 83kg at the moment. So he might need a bit of beefing up.”

Gibson added: “I think some of the highlights you’ve probably seen were in the Asian Champions League semi-final when he played against Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Jhon Duran, and basically he had them in his pocket all game.

“I didn’t realise Ronaldo was playing for about 60 minutes. Seriously, I was watching it on a small screen, and I really had forgotten that Ronaldo was there.”

Big changes at Tottenham

Takai becomes Spurs’ third signing of the summer after loan deals for Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso were made permanent.

It is the start of a new era for the Europa League winners as Thomas Frank has replaced Ange Postecoglou as head coach. Postecoglou ended Spurs’ long trophy drought but was sacked due to the club’s poor league form.

Frank has greenlit the signing of electric West Ham attacker Mohammed Kudus. Chelsea have also held talks for Kudus, but it is Spurs who are in the box seat to land him.

So far, Spurs have offered West Ham an initial £50m plus £12.5m in potential bonuses. The Irons want at least £60m up front to sell Kudus, who could help Spurs move on from Son Heung-min.

Tottenham transfer news: Mbeumo claim; Ligue 1 target

Meanwhile, there have been suggestions Spurs could thunder back into the race for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as his switch to Manchester United has stalled.

Nice striker Evann Guessand is another player understood to be on Spurs’ radar.

Reports claim that Spurs are confident they will beat up to three Premier League clubs in the chase for Guessand.

Tottenham to follow up Kudus transfer coup with swoop for Serie A powerhouse - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are ramping up their transfer business after a slow start to the summer window, with the club reportedly ready to raid Serie A for a top talent to follow up a big-money deal for Mohammed Kudus.

There have been three additions to Thomas Frank’s squad so far, with Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel turning their loan deals into permanent ones, while highly-rated Japan centre-back Kota Takai has also arrived from J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale.

The new Tottenham boss wants more, however, as the club look to strengthen a squad that is back in the Champions League next season, having struggled to cope with the demands of domestic and European football last time around.

West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus remains the top target for now, even though reports suggest Frank could yet reunite with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo in north London after a big twist in his proposed switch to Manchester United.

Tottenham have had two offers knocked back for Kudus so far, with the Hammers wanting in excess of £60million (€70m / $81m) for them to part company with the explosive attacker. However, a third bid is now expected, with the Ghana international already agreeing to sign and Spurs confident of finally striking a deal.

The north London club will not stop there, though, and a fresh report from The Athletic states that Frank also wants a new full-back who is also capable of playing centrally. Step forward Genoa’s Koni De Winter, who has now emerged as a major target for Spurs.

The report claims that Frank wants more competition for left-back Destiny Udogie, despite De Winter playing predominantly as a right-back or right-sided central defender.

Tottenham eye top Serie A talent

The 23-year-old was one of the standout defensive stars in Serie A last season, and his ability to play in multiple positions makes him an attractive proposition.

According to CaughtOffside, the Belgian is valued at £30million (€35m / $40m) by Genoa, who Spurs did business with in January 2024 when they signed Radu Dragusin. However, Tottenham are not alone in their admiration for the player.

Manchester United are said to have been monitoring De Winter’s situation closely, as well as fellow Premier League sides Wolves and West Ham.

The talented defender also has suitors elsewhere in Europe, with Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Inter Milan also keen on his services.

While it remains to be seen if Tottenham make a concrete approach for De Winter in the coming days and weeks, they at least seem to be sparking into life when it comes to trying to improve Frank’s squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

Bryan Mbeumo: Star enraged by Man Utd transfer delay as confirmed Arsenal deal presents problem - TEAMtalk
Description

Bryan Mbeumo is reported to becoming increasingly agitated by Brentford’s refusal to accept Manchester United’s proposal for him as they weigh up a third bid – while one transfer expert has thrown open the possibility of a move to Tottenham Hotspur being resurrected.

The Red Devils have honed in on the signing of the 25-year-old Cameroon forward as the latest recruit to boost their attack – and Ruben Amorim would love to pair him up with fellow new arrival Matheus Cunha as one of two No.10s in his 3-4-2-1 Manchester United formation in the upcoming 2025/26 season.

But while getting a deal for over the line for Cunha was a relatively simple process, United appear to have hit a dead end in their negotiations over Mbeumo, having seen Brentford rejecting both their proposals so far.

Indeed, while that second offer was worth a Cunha-matching £62.5m (£55m up front and £7.5m in add-ons), the Bees have again stood their ground. And in the wake of Joao Pedro’s move to Chelsea for a fee topping £60m and with Anthony Elanga’s move to Newcastle set to go through for £55m, the London side have further stood their ground, feeling Mbeumo is the superior player and worth every penny of their apparent £65m (€75m, $88m) asking price.

Furthermore, with David Ornstein now confirming the Bees have finalised a £12m agreement (£10m up front, plus bonuses) for captain Christian Norgaard to join Arsenal, Keith Andrews’ side are now further standing their ground and continuing to play hard ball over the Mbeumo fee.

Now, according to the Standard, Mbeumo is ‘growing increasingly frustrated’ by the failure of the two sides to settle on a fee and having made clear to all parties that he wants to make the move to Old Trafford this summer.

Revealing the 96-goal attacker’s ‘anger’ at the delay, the report claims that while Brentford are open to a third offer from United for the wantaway star, they are yet to make contact over a raised bid, with the delay also said to be causing increased stressed levels for manager Ruben Amorim, who ideally wanted Mbeumo in place ahead of his deadline of Monday July 7, which has now been missed.

DON’T MISS 🔴⚫ Man Utd told four major reasons why Bryan Mbeumo is desperate to move to Old Trafford

Man Utd still on track for Mbeumo despite Tottenham hijack talk

The Standard reports that Mbeumo was a United fan as a youngster and very much fancies the move, having been offered further encouragement by the apparent £150,000 a week salary on offer; currently three times the value of the packet he receives at the Gtech Stadium.

Indeed, the ongoing delay in United’s failure to strike a deal has led to suggestions the move could be aborted and that an astonishing transfer to his fellow suitors, Tottenham Hotspur, could yet be resurrected for a cut-price fee.

Adding a further sub-plot to proceedings, Spurs expert John Wenham believes the Red Devils could look to try and sign an Aston Villa star instead.

“Manchester United are now looking at [Ollie] Watkins,” he said.

“They’re unlikely to sign Watkins and Mbeumo, and there’s also an interesting subplot here. If you remember when Tottenham tried to sign David Raya, Brentford wanted £40million.

“As the window went on, nobody was paying the £40m and they ended up loaning him to Arsenal and he then joined permanently for much less than £40m. I could see that happening with Mbeumo where he becomes available at the end of the window for less.

“Brentford might realise nobody is going to pay the asking price. They want a fee which eclipses what United paid for Matheus Cunha, who I believe is a better player.”

Despite Wenham’s prophecy, we understand that, as things stand, Spurs are not looking to resurrect a move for Mbeumo and are instead putting their energies into securing a deal for Mohammed Kudus.

As for United, we also understand they remain fully vested in trying to persuade the Bees to part with Mbeumo, though now know they will need to further raise their offer to get a deal over the line and are prepared to play a more patient game – much to Amorim’s apparent frustrations.

Providing an update on the now long-running saga, transfer expert Romano shared this on his X account: ‘Manchester United’s absolute focus remains on Bryan Mbeumo deal with talks set to continue this week.

‘No agreement with Brentford last week but MUFC keep working on it and Bryan also keeps giving priority to United move. Deal on.’

However, the Bees are clearly in no mood to sanction their star man’s exit for a fee lower than the value they believe he is worth. And their director of football, Phil Giles, now claims Mbeumo could STAY in south-west London if their demands are not met.

Giles stated: “He had a fantastic season. We expected big interest in him, we have had big interest in him.

“He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career. He is well within his rights to do that.”

And in a chilling warning to the Red Devils, he added: “It is not impossible he is still a Brentford player next season if we agree he is going to stay.”

Man Utd transfer latest: Three free-agent strikers offered; Brazilian midfielder eyed

Meanwhile, United have been offered the chance to sign three Premier League-proven strikers with 290 goals between them, and United’s wider intentions for the striker position have been revealed.

Elsewhere, the Red Devils have learned that a key midfield target, available for a bargain fee this summer, has greenlit a potential move to Old Trafford.

United director of football Jason Wilcox is also reportedly ready to make his move for a Dutch teenage talent already branded a ‘total footballer’ in an effort to beat Real Madrid to his signature.

And finally, United are also reported to be in discussions with the entourage of a £52m-rated Brazilian midfielder, though they will face competition from two Italian giants for the deal.

Tottenham announce latest signing and agree striker exit with telling clause - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have officially unveiled their third major signing of the summer, while a striker loan with a telling clause attached has also been agreed.

Tottenham’s first two signings of the summer were straightforward after the loan spells of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel were turned permanent. Spurs have since sought to add more firepower to Thomas Frank’s ranks, though moves for Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo have not panned out.

That’s prompted Tottenham to lock on to West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and after their opening offer worth £50m was rejected, an improved second bid is on the way.

But before Kudus can arrive, signing number three has already been announced. Via their official website on Tuesday morning, Spurs confirmed Japanese centre-back, Kota Takai, has completed a transfer from Kawasaki Frontale.

A club statement read: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Kota Takai from J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale, subject to international clearance and work permit.

“The Japan international defender has agreed a deal with the Club that will run until 2030.”

Spurs have paid £5m to Takai’s side Kawasaki Frontale which represents a record sale for the J League.

Nevertheless, Tottenham believe they’ve snagged a bargain and the versatile right-footer is equally comfortable playing at left centre-back as he is at right centre-back.

Takai has already racked up four senior caps for Japan and was named the J League’s best young player for the 2024 campaign.

Striker loan agreed

Elsewhere, Tottenham have agreed a deal to send forgotten striker, Alejo Veliz, out on loan once more.

The Argentine has featured just eight times for Spurs since arriving from Rosario Central in 2023. He was loaned to Sevilla and then Espanyol and will now return to Rosario Central in a third loan exit.

That is according to both TyC Sports and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Taking to X, Romano declared: “Alejo Veliz leaves Tottenham on loan again to join Argentine side Rosario Central, playing with Angel Di Maria.”

Providing insight into the agreement, TyC Sports stated the loan will run for one year and does NOT contain an option or obligation to buy.

That would suggest Tottenham still believe Veliz may have a future in north London. Further backing up that notion, Spurs have inserted a recall clause they can trigger at the end of 2025.

As such, and if Veliz rediscovers his form back in his homeland, Veliz may wind up returning to Spurs sooner than anticipated.

Bryan Mbeumo: Man Utd could ABORT transfer as astonishing cut

Tottenham tipped to seal staggeringly low Bryan Mbeumo transfer with Man Utd to abandon move - TEAMtalk
Description

Manchester United are giving serious thought to abandoning their quest to sign Bryan Mbeumo after a jaw-dropping report raised the possibility of a cut-price move to Tottenham Hotspur instead – though an update from Fabrizio Romano appears to have quickly set the record straight.

Ruben Amorim is desperate to add more goals and creativity to his attack after a bleak 2024/25 campaign resulted in an unacceptable 15th-place finish in the Premier League. And with Manchester United knowing a repeat of any description is simply out of the question, the Portuguese coach has set about signing the players needed to fire the Red Devils back up the table.

However, while a £62.5m deal for Matheus Cunha was quickly secured, getting signing number two over the line, in Mbeumo, has proved a thoroughly frustrating prospect.

After seeing their second bid – believed to be worth £55m up front with a further £7.5m in add-on was rejected – Brentford chief Phil Giles has come out and warned United that the player could ultimately end up staying at the Gtech Arena for another season if their asking price is not met.

And while United are yet to submit a third offer officially, reports on Monday floated the idea that United could walk away from a deal, partially owing to the Bees using the recent transfers of Joao Pedro to Chelsea (£55m, plus £5m) and Anthony Elanga (£55m to Newcastle, albeit not yet done) as gauges and feeling they are right to stand their ground over Mbeumo’s asking price and feeling the Cameroon forward is a superior player.

And with reports stating United could instead use the funds to chase a new No.9 instead, it’s been heavily suggested a move to Tottenham Hotspur could now be resurrected instead – and for a price lower than initially suggested.

That’s according to club expert John Wenham, who told Tottenham News: “Manchester United are now looking at [Ollie] Watkins..

“They’re unlikely to sign Watkins and Mbeumo, and there’s also an interesting subplot here. If you remember when Tottenham tried to sign David Raya, Brentford wanted £40million.

Are Man Utd still in for Mbeumo? Fabrizio Romano shares latest….

Despite Wenham’s prophecy, we understand that, as things stand, Spurs are not looking to resurrect any offer for Mbeumo and are instead putting their energies into securing a deal for Mohammed Kudus.

They have already seen two offers knocked back by West Ham, the second one which is understood to be worth £50m (€58m / $68m), plus £12.5m (€14.5m $17m) in additional variables.

However, after being told the Hammers are willing to sell for £65m, with a larger chunk of the money upfront, a club record-equalling deal could be close for Spurs.

As for United, we also understand they remain fully vested in trying to persuade the Bees to part with Mbeumo, though now know they will need to further raise their offer to get a deal over the line.

Kudus rejects Euro heavyweights for Spurs; United eye ‘total footballer’

As for Kudus, Spurs have been given serious heart that a move is edging closer after the Ghanaian was reported to have signalled his intent to swap West Ham United for Tottenham after rejecting a late approach from one of European football’s elite clubs.

Kudus could replace the legendary Son Heung-min in north London and now the chances of the forward accepting the chance to join MLS outfit LAFC have been revealed by two sources, with a key commercial factor impacting the timeline of the Tottenham Hotspur captain’s potential exit.

Mohammed Kudus rejects elite Euro heavyweight after saying YES to Tottenham - TEAMtalk
Description

Mohammed Kudus has reportedly signalled his intent to swap West Ham United for Tottenham Hotspur in a big-money move this summer after rejecting a late approach from one of European football’s elite clubs.

New Spurs boss Thomas Frank has given the green light for the north London outfit to try and conclude a deal for Kudus, as he looks to add more explosiveness to his attack ahead of the club’s return to Champions League action in 2025/26.

Frank has pushed for his former Brentford talisman Bryan Mbeumo to join him at Tottenham, only for the player himself to favour a move to Manchester United. And, while a potential door has been opened that could still see the pair reunited, Kudus also remains a top option for the Danish boss.

Spurs have so far had two approaches knocked back for the West Ham attacker, with the latest rumoured to have been £5omillion (€58m / $68m) plus £12.5m (€14.5m $17m) in additional variables.

However, a fresh report from TBR Football states that Kudus has turned down a late approach from Bayern Munich for his services and is fully focusing on joining Tottenham instead.

The Bundesliga giants turned to Kudus after losing Jamal Musiala for at least four months after his horrific injury at the Club World Cup, only to be shunned.

Both London clubs now remain locked in talks over a deal for the attacker, and a transfer could be struck eventually for around £60m up front.

Tottenham do still have to be wary of interest from Chelsea in the attacker, while Arsenal are also known admirers of the Ghana international – although their focus has largely been switched towards Blues winger Noni Madueke in recent weeks.

Romano doubles down on Kudus to Tottenham

Meanwhile, respected transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has added more fuel to the fire over Kudus’ proposed switch to Tottenham with his latest comments on the Hammers star.

Taking to YouTube, Romano confirmed an improved bid is on the way and also backed up the reports that personal terms have already been agreed.

“Tottenham are expected to bid again for Mohammed Kudus,” insisted Romano. “So in the next days Tottenham want to attack again.

“Second point: Thomas Frank has approved internally Kudus as a top target for Tottenham this summer, as a crucial target. They are prepared to advance and push for Mohammed Kudus

“And then the player side, probably the best news for Spurs fans is that my understanding is Kudus wants to go to Tottenham.

“Kudus gives total priority to Tottenham. Kudus is not negotiating with other clubs because his intention is to go to Tottenham.

“So when you see the player with his intention it’s probably the best news possible for the club to try and get the deal done between clubs, in this case with West Ham.”

It now appears to be a case of ‘watch this space’ with Tottenham’s efforts to sign Kudus and give them a huge new attacking threat in Frank’s starting XI.

Bryan Mbeumo: Man Utd miss deadline as Tottenham explode back into race for Brentford star

Tottenham thunder back into Bryan Mbeumo transfer race as Man Utd suffer deadline embarrassment - TEAMtalk
Description

Manchester United have seen their own self-imposed deadline to sign Bryan Mbeumo pass by without a deal getting done – giving Tottenham Hotspur renewed belief they could snatch the Brentford forward and amid fresh claims Daniel Levy hopes to thunder back into the race and will sell two stars to fund a renewed bid.

Just over a month now has passed since the Cameroon international made clear his preference to move to Old Trafford this summer, having decided to leave Brentford with just 12 months remaining on his current contract. Having scored an impressive 20 goals and added nine assists from 42 appearances last season, it is easy to see why Mbeumo is a player in such high demand.

And with Manchester United left as his preference, the Red Devils have been working hard to try and get a deal over the line, seeing two bids – the second matching the £62.5m (€72.3m, $85m) fee they paid for Matheus Cunha – rejected by Brentford.

Protected by the fact they have a further 12-month option on his deal, the Bees – now under the management of last season’s set-piece coach Keith Andrews – have continued to dig their heels in over their asking price, ultimately hoping for a fee as high as £65m and with a larger portion of the downpayment made up front.

As a result, United chiefs had set themselves the target of getting a deal for Mbeumo over the line before Monday July 7 – the day their players return for pre-season training at their Carrington Complex.

However, with that self-imposed countdown now coming and going without a deal having been struck, there are suggestions brewing that the Red Devils could be forced to walk away from a deal for their priority target.

Given money is tight at United – and they also want to sign a new striker this summer – any third major deal was likely subject to them securing a number of sales first. Now United could look to focus on other moves instead after seemingly drawing a blank over the former Troyes frontman.

Indeed, according to The Mirror, United chiefs are ready to switch their focus into landing a new striker instead, with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins fast emerging as a new priority target.

As a result, claims are growing that Tottenham are ready to resurrect their own bid to sign the forward and reunite Mbeumo with his former coach Thomas Frank in N17.

Furthermore, it’s claimed canny Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could look to offload two players of his own to fund the signing….

Bryan Mbeumo: Tottenham ready to explode back into transfer race

To that end, TottenhamHotspurnews reports that Levy will look to sell both Manor Solomon and Bryan Gill this summer to help fund a renewed bid to sign Mbeumo.

Israel winger Solomon spent last season on loan with Leeds and, while it’s understood the player wants to try and force his way into Frank’s plans.

Explaining all the ins and outs, Spurs expert John Wenham revealed: “I think that Tottenham could revisit a deal for Mbeumo later in the window..

“Especially when you consider the sales that Tottenham are still likely to make. I think Solomon still departs, and I think Gil will be sold too.

“Therefore, there are options there, and they could use those funds to revisit Mbeumo.”

While we understand United remain keen on Mbeumo and are not yet ready to abandon the pursuit any time soon, information over any updates has been scarce both from our contacts and elsewhere in the industry.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano’s last update on the pursuit came a week ago, when he stated on his YouTube channel: “I can tell you that today, even if it’s Sunday, the contacts continue, even today, between Manchester United and Brentford.

“So constant contacts between the two clubs to reach an agreement for Bryan Mbeumo. There is still no here we go, but may United keep working on that, United keep advancing, United keep their confidence and their optimism to make the deal happen.

“So Manchester United are going very strong for Bryan Mbeumo, and now the feeling is quite positive on that one, once again.

“So don’t forget the Bryan Mbeumo deal for the next days, for the next week also, because may United will be pushing and pushing again to get it over the line, and so the here we go is still a strong possibility for Bryan Mbeumo as a new Manchester United player.”

Jadon Sancho to Juventus deadline; striker signing green light; Son decision made

Meanwhile, United are being pressed for a final decision on sending Jadon Sancho to Juventus, with their asking price being confirmed but the chances of a swap deal now also being talked up.

Elsewhere, that striker pursuit at Old Trafford has taken twist amid new claims Ruben Amorim has given the green light to sign a free agent striker who could ultimately only prove to be fourth choice and in the face of their disappointment in the Viktor Gyokeres transfer saga.

Over at Tottenham, the chances of Son Heung-min accepting the chance to join MLS outfit LAFC have been revealed by two sources, with a key commercial factor impacting the timeline of the Tottenham Hotspur captain’s potential exit.

The chances of Son Heung-min accepting the chance to join MLS outfit LAFC have been revealed by two sources, with a key commercial factor impacting the timeline of the Tottenham Hotspur captain’s potential exit.

Son’s future is in doubt after he entered the final year of his Spurs contract, which he extended back in January. After lifting the Europa League trophy at the end of last season, the South Korea forward could go out on a high note. Recently, a move to the USA has been touted.

Specifically, LAFC are the club in the hunt for Son. A move there would reunite him with former Tottenham colleague Hugo Lloris, but it’s another Frenchman who’s the reason behind LAFC’s interest.

Indeed, the departure of striker Olivier Giroud to Lille has left a vacancy in the LAFC attack, which Son could fill.

According to The Sun and the Daily Mirror, though, Son is unlikely to make the move this summer – and might not go anywhere for at least a month.

While a move to the USA does appeal to Son, he wants to wait for the right opportunity. He also has interest from the Saudi Pro League and the Turkish Super Lig.

And Spurs are inclined to wait before letting him go, too. After all, they visit his native South Korea for a pre-season friendly against Newcastle United on August 3. It would be almost nonsensical from a commercial viewpoint to take away the chance for the local audience to watch their compatriot in action for Spurs.

That doesn’t mean Son will definitely still be a Spurs player by the time the transfer window closes. Still, they would have to be tempted by a significant – if not earth-shattering – sum of money.

Son Heung-min future: Frank talks await

A move to MLS could be reconsidered in January or at the end of his contract next summer, it’s been claimed, but before then, Son will need to speak with his new head coach.

Tottenham have replaced Ange Postecoglou – the head coach who ended their 17-year trophy wait – with Thomas Frank.

As The Sun has written, Son will hold ‘face-to-face talks’ with Frank, with whom pre-season preparations are now underway.

The future of Son, who is about to turn 33 years old, could well be a topic they dive into as a priority.

Besides, there is other movement ongoing in the Spurs attack. Mathys Tel’s loan from Bayern Munich has been made permanent, while work continues on the potential capture of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.

Tottenham transfer latest as attack evolves

Regarding Kudus, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Spurs are set to make a second bid for the Ghana international.

Their first proposal of £50m was rejected by West Ham, and Chelsea have since joined the race for the former Ajax attacker.

According to Romano, though, Kudus wants to go to Spurs and he already has an agreement with them over personal terms.

Frank’s attack could continue to evolve with a striker also in the club’s crosshairs.

Reports have claimed they have made a move for a Premier League striker and gained an instant response.

Tottenham news: Spurs 'confident' of beating rivals to 23 G

Tottenham 'confident' of landing 23 G/A Ligue 1 striker who's snubbed Mourinho - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham are reportedly ‘confident’ that they can land an in-form Ligue 1 striker ahead of Premier League rivals, with the Ivory Coast international ‘not overly keen’ on joining Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce.

Tottenham‘s desire to improve their attack this season is evident. They finished 17th in the Premier League last season, so though their defence was an issue, they clearly did not score enough to make up for it.

They’ve landed Mathys Tel permanently, and have had eyes on the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Bryan Mbeumo and Ademola Lookman.

Nice’s Evann Guessand has also been linked in recent weeks and months, and according to Football Insider, Spurs are ‘confident’ of signing the striker, who was directly involved in 23 goals in all competitions last season.

Pete O’Rourke said: “Nice are bracing themselves for interest in the upcoming window.

“Looking at the interested clubs, Brighton, West Ham, Wolves…

“Tottenham I’m sure would be pretty hopeful that, if they do follow up their interest, that they could win the race for his services.”

Fenerbahce set to fail

O’Rourke also points out it looks like Fenerbahce, and manager Mourinho, look set to fail in their attempts to land Guessand.

“There’s been talk that Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce would like to sign him as well,” he said.

“My sources tell me the player himself is not overly keen on that move, so that will be positive news for his Premier League suitors.”

Indeed, it looks like Tottenham might be able to make further useful additions to their attack.

Tottenham round-up: More needed for Kudus

Tottenham opened the bidding for West Ham forward Kudus at £50million, though it’s reported they’ll need £60million, and elsewhere, it’s been said Spurs are still a long way short.

If they can’t get him, Tottenham might look into the signing of Ademola Lookman.

They’re said to be closely monitoring him, and an attractive offer could see Atalanta give him up.

Meanwhile, Spurs have reportedly attempted to sign Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, but have been told he won’t be going anywhere.
