54y/o manager 'keen' on hugely controversial Tottenham move as Igor Tudor faces swift sack - TEAMtalk
Description

Sources have provided our transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, with a key update on Sean Dyche potentially becoming the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, as pressure rises on struggling interim boss Igor Tudor.

Tottenham sacked Thomas Frank on February 11 after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United left them 16th in the Premier League, just five points above the relegation zone. Incredibly, things have gotten worse for Spurs since then.

Tudor arrived to steady the ship three days after Frank’s departure, in a move which puzzled many. Yes, the Croatian has previous experience in turning around underperforming squads, but he has never had such a daunting job.

Tudor’s 2025 spell at Juventus lasted just 24 games, and his Spurs tenure could be even shorter.

Spurs have lost all four matches under him so far, conceding 14 goals in the process. Tudor brought goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky into the starting eleven for the Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, only for the 22-year-old to have an absolute horror show and be hauled off 16 minutes in.

The 5-2 thrashing in the Spanish capital looked like it could be the final nail in the coffin for Tudor.

Dyche’s name has been floated as a potential option to save Spurs from relegation, given his spells at Burnley, Everton and Nottingham Forest.

Sources have told Fletcher that Dyche ‘would be keen’ to replace Tudor and rescue Spurs. However, contacts are ‘playing down’ the chances of Dyche moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as there has been ‘no contact’ between the two parties so far.

While it is an evolving situation and could change rapidly, we understand Spurs have yet to make a final decision on whether to axe Tudor.

It emerged earlier on Wednesday that Tudor is expected to take his pre-match press conference for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.

Fletcher has revealed that Spurs chiefs are holding urgent discussions over Tudor’s future. Senior players are angry with how the 47-year-old has treated Kinsky, sparking yet more discontent in the dressing room.

Is Sean Dyche the man to save Spurs?

While Dyche would give Spurs a better chance at avoiding the drop, it would still be a hugely controversial appointment.

The Englishman certainly does not play the exciting, attacking brand of football Spurs fans want to see.

Comparisons will also be made between Dyche’s stock and how highly Frank was rated before he left Brentford – demonstrating how far the club has fallen.

While it is a move Spurs fans will likely hate, Dyche would surely back himself to get more out of the players than Tudor, who has appeared clueless at times.

Four-way tussle for Cristian Romero breaks out as Tottenham set price for captain's sale - Sources - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero finds himself at the centre of intense speculation as the summer transfer window approaches, with multiple top European clubs circling the Argentina international and amid a growing belief from TEAMtalk sources that Spurs are increasingly open to letting the Argentina star depart ahead of a major summer rebuild.

The 27-year-old World Cup winner, who penned a new long-term deal only last summer following Tottenham‘s Europa League triumph, is now facing a potential exit amid the club’s turbulent season. Sources have previously indicated Spurs are open to cashing in on their talismanic defender for upwards of £60 million (€70m, $80m), even if they avoid relegation from the Premier League, as part of a broader squad overhaul.

This comes despite his contract running until 2029, underscoring the growing unrest in north London among not just Romero, but a plethora of highly-paid but largely underperforming stars.

Per our sources, Atletico Madrid are still considered the most persistent suitors.

Their manager, Diego Simeone, a compatriot who has long admired Romero’s tenacity and leadership, reignited interest after the defender’s public frustrations with Tottenham’s recruitment and squad depth. Atletico previously pursued him last summer, and, we understand, remains extremely keen, viewing him as an ideal fit for their aggressive defensive setup employed by Simeone.

The capital club will have witnessed Romero’s leadership qualities at first hand on Tuesday night as Atleti eased to a 5-2 triumph in the first leg of the two sides’ last-16 Champions League tie.

However, they are far from alone, and there are three other sides also hovering and having made fresh enquiries with his representatives in recent days…

Romero transfer competition heats up

To that end, we understand both Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been strongly linked by those close to the player.

Barcelona appreciate Romero’s aggressive style, which could complement their high defensive line under Hansi Flick, while Real Madrid see him as a priority reinforcement for their backline.

Both La Liga giants offer the regular Champions League football Romero craves, amid his desire for a club consistently competing at the highest level. Both have made fresh enquiries in recent weeks.

Recent developments suggest additional interest, including from Inter Milan, who have made initial checks. However, the focus remains heavily on Spanish sides, with Atletico appearing particularly proactive.

Romero’s combative performances and leadership have made him one of Europe’s elite centre-backs, but Tottenham’s struggles have shifted the narrative. A summer departure now seems even more likely, potentially marking the end of a significant chapter at Spurs.

Romero himself has previously admitted that a move to LaLiga tickles his fancy as he looks to make the next step in his career.

Speaking last summer, the 27-year-old revealed: “I would love to play in La Liga, it’s the one I’m missing.

“I’m going to give my best until the last day I’m here (Tottenham). I’m happy. They make me feel like an important player. Whatever the future holds for me, I’m welcome.”

Latest Tottenham news: Van de Ven dream crushed; vital Tudor discussions

Whether Spurs would let both Romero and Micky van de Ven depart in the same window remains open to some debate, though the Dutch defender is not short of admirers, too.

To that end, he too has been linked as a possible target for Real Madrid this summer.

Another side often cited as having an interest in the jet-heeled Dutchman is Liverpool.

Now, clarification has arrived on Wednesday on those links to Anfield for the £100m-rated Dutchman, while the player has also lifted the lid on how Spurs’ struggles this season have impacted his mental well-being.

Just how long Igor Tudor will be around to manage the pair, though, remains to be seen.

An update on the Croat’s future has also emerged on Wednesday morning – and it now seems a matter of when, not if, the rug is pulled from under him with club bosses meeting again to discuss his future and potentially replacements.

With regards to a long-term successor, Spurs’ number one choice for the role, Mauricio Pochettino, is now in danger of being whisked away to an elite European side after he emerged as the top pick for an ambitious president.

In a further blow, another option for Spurs in the permanent manager’s role has now also made his ambitions to take charge at Manchester United instead.

Urgent Tottenham board meeting being held to decide on Igor Tudor sack - Sources - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s boardroom is once again the scene of urgent discussions as the club’s hierarchy weighs up the precarious position of interim head coach Igor Tudor and decide whether to fire him after just four games at the helm – and we understand the trigger could be pulled if the club manages to land on an instant replacement.

With the team mired in a dire slump and teetering just one point above the Premier League relegation zone, sources indicate that senior figures, including former chairman Daniel Levy, are scrutinising replacement options while exercising caution to avoid yet another hasty managerial upheaval in the wake of the club’s most barren run of form in their 143-year history.

Tudor stepped into the role in mid-February 2026, following the abrupt dismissal of Thomas Frank after only eight months in charge. Tasked with steadying the ship and hauling Tottenham away from the drop, the Croatian has instead presided over a harrowing sequence of results.

Zero league victories in 2026, coupled with a staggering 14 goals conceded across his opening four fixtures, have deepened the crisis.

The nadir came in the Champions League last-16 first leg against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, where Tottenham suffered a humiliating 5-2 defeat, shipping three goals inside the opening 15 minutes – a record low for any side in the competition’s knockout stages.

Tensions within the squad have also boiled over, particularly regarding Tudor’s handling of young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

The 22-year-old Czech, signed from Slavia Prague in January 2025, was handed a surprise start and his Champions League debut ahead of established number one Guglielmo Vicario.

But Kinsky endured a nightmare, committing two glaring errors that directly contributed to Atletico’s early onslaught. Tudor responded by substituting him after just 17 minutes, a decision he later defended as necessary to protect the player, but it has provoked widespread backlash.

Igor Tudor sack: Tottenham pushing for new interim manager

However, we understand that all is not well in the camp and several first-team players are said to be incensed by the treatment of the young Czech, viewing the decision to start him and the early hook as unnecessarily harsh and damaging to confidence.

Indeed, in the wake of his 17th-minute substitution, both Conor Gallagher and Joao Palhinha ran up to console their teammate, who was clearly hurting in the wake of his humiliation.

A post-game tweet from former Manchester United star David De Gea showed unity with the star, but also underlined the precarious situation that Tudor had largely been responsible for.

Prominent pundits, including former goalkeepers Joe Hart and Peter Schmeichel, have lambasted the move as potentially career-harming for the youngster, with Hart describing Tudor’s post-substitution demeanour as lacking basic empathy.

Sources suggest a senior squad member even challenged the manager directly after the match, underscoring broader discontent with his intense methods and rotation policy.

As a result, the Spurs hierarchy are in a panic but ready to let Tudor go, mindful of the instability that has characterised recent seasons.

Yet with pivotal fixtures looming – including clashes against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest before the international break – patience is wearing thin.

Conversation swirls around potential successors, from short-term fixes like club legend Robbie Keane to more established names such as Roberto De Zerbi or a possible Mauricio Pochettino return.

Indeed, my colleague, Graeme Bailey, revealed in the aftermath of Tuesday’s defeat that Keane remains the club’s first choice to step in if they can persuade him to leave Ferencvaros.

“Robbie Keane has been spoken to, but he is also a top target for Crystal Palace and has been linked to Celtic, heading into the summer.

“Spurs are considering all options, and we understand a host of agents and intermediaries have contacted them about potential replacements. But Keane is very much a preferred option.”

Other options to come in include Sean Dyche and former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason, who has served as caretaker manager twice before.

Latest Tottenham news: Tudor unsure on future; Pochettino hopes fade

Meanwhile, Tudor had an alarming response when asked if he was the right man to lead Spurs through their crisis, though the 47-year-old did admit he was fully aware of the gravity of their situation and refused to accept that saving them from the drop was an impossible task.

In the wake of Tuesday’s loss at the Wanda Metropolitano, a series of pundits have demanded ENIC sack the 47-year-old NOW ‘before it’s too late’ and with latest shambles proof the club are ‘only heading one way’ – towards the Championship.

With regards a long-term successor, Spurs number one choice for the role, Mauricio Pochettino, is now in danger of being whisked away to an elite European side after he emerged as the top pick for an ambitious president.

Igor Tudor offers alarming response when asked if he faces Tottenham sack as boss explains Kinsky substitution - TEAMtalk
Description

Igor Tudor had no answer when asked if he was the right man to lead Tottenham Hotspur through their crisis and whether he would see the job through until the end of the season following a fourth successive loss at the helm, though sources now understand a new name is under serious discussion.

A 5-2 Champions League defeat in the first leg of their last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid means Tottenham have now lost six games in a row and makes if, officially, their worst run of form in their 143 year history. Worse yet, Tudor has also become the first manager in the club’s history to lose his first four games in charge, doing so by an aggregate scoreline of 14-5.

With the alarm bells now ringing and with pundits now demanding ENIC admits the error of their ways and sack the manager before it’s too late, the 47-year-old admitted he was unable to answer if he will still be in charge come Sunday’s trip to Anfield to face champions Liverpool.

Dropping a simple “no comment” response to the question, he was then asked about the seriousness of Tottenham’s predicament and if the job is “impossible”.

With a more measured response, he stated: “I am not taking it that way. I recognised what we are and which problems we have. In every game, something happens. It is difficult to explain.

“I see the wish of the players to do well. Then, when these things happen, in the moment we are in now, unfortunately, it is like that.”

Commenting on what needs to happen ahead of their trip to Anfield this weekend, he added: “I try to do my best. What a coach needs to do.”

Tudor was then asked to explain his actions after delivering the ultimate humiliation to goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who was substituted after just 17 minutes with the club 3-0 down and with the 22-year-old having dropped two major blunders.

“It is very rare. I have coached for 15 years and never done this. It was necessary to preserve the guy and to preserve the team. Incredible situation,” Tudor explained.

“Before the game, it was the right choice. Where we are with pressure on [Guglielmo] Vicario, Toni is a very good goalkeeper. After this, it is easy to say it was not the right decision.

“I was speaking with Toni after. He is a bright guy, a good goalkeeper, and unfortunately it happened in this big game, these big mistakes.

“The start of the game was too much for us. In this moment when we are fragile, when we are weak.”

Next Tottenham manager: Robbie Keane in the frame; double snub

After Spurs had lost for the third successive time under Tudor at home to Crystal Palace on Thursday of last week, TEAMtalk correspondent Graeme Bailey was informed that the club’s decision-makers were willing to give Tudor a little while longer before deciding enough is enough under his regime.

But in the wake of Tuesday’s humbling in the Spanish capital, a situation compounded by the awful way he treated the young 22-year-old keeper, it appears the writing is now on the wall and the club are open to making a change.

In the aftermath of that Wanda Metropolitano humiliation, Bailey told us: “The club’s hierarchy are now in talks, having previously decided that Tudor would get until after the Atletico second leg…but the first leg defeat has forced a rethink.

“Tottenham’s hierarchy is in regular contact with the Lewis Family, whilst Daniel Levy, still a significant shareholder in ENIC, is being kept informed and aware of the situation.

“As it stands, the club are continuing to do work, as they have been for more than a week, on options to replace Igor Tudor – the hierarchy is aware that the squad have not reacted to Tudor as they hoped.

Elsewhere, the two men Spurs had identified as long-term options to take charge from next season appear to be slipping from their grasp…

First up, their number one choice for the role is now in danger of being whisked away to Real Madrid after he emerged as the top pick for Los Blancos president Florentino Perez.

To complete a potentially worrying double snub, another option for Spurs in the permanent manager’s role has now also made his ambitions to take charge at Manchester United instead.

'Tottenham must admit mistake and sack Tudor or it's only heading one way' - ENIC sent most barren of warnings - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s board have been told their current mess is all their own making, but now need to admit they made a serious mistake appointing Igor Tudor “before it is too late” and with TEAMtalk revealing in the wake of Tuesday night’s thrashing by Atletico Madrid the one manager that ENIC are now keen to appoint.

Spurs are now officially on the worst run in their history after a sixth successive defeat in all competitions. With four of those falling under the interim charge of Tudor, the Croatian has now become the first-ever Tottenham manager to lose his first four games at the helm.

With the club now a laughing stock and in serious danger of slipping into the Championship, a range of pundits have now had their say and called on the club to hold their hands up and accept they got it badly wrong hiring the 47-year-old.

Asked on Sky Sports News if they must act now and should look to get a new manager in before Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield, Paul Merson replied: “I don’t know who they are going to get to come in for that game; it’s going to be hard enough to get the players on the field, let alone get another manager in.”

Considering what they do next, Merson continued: “It’s a great job, Tottenham; they are a top club, but they need sorting out before it’s too late or it’s going to be unthinkable if they end up getting relegated.”

Questioned by colleague Sue Smith if that would be a big admission by the decision makers that they got it wrong, Merson replied: “They’ve got to be strong enough to admit they were wrong. The manager, to his credit, has done that tonight with the goalkeeper and thought ‘do you know what, I’ve got to bring him off’; he’s done him a favour, the lad was like a rabbit in the headlights.”

Kris Boyd added: “You look at Nottingham Forest and they get criticised for acting too quickly, but when they know something isn’t right, the decision is made.

“But if you look at Tottenham right now and if this carries on, there’s only one place this is going, and that is the Championship.”

Tottenham board ready to discuss Igor Tudor sack

It seems Boyd’s observation will be proved correct.

In the wake of last Thursday’s 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace, which left Spurs just a point clear of the relegation zone, sources informed our correspondent Graeme Bailey that the board were prepared to sit tight for now and allow Tudor more time to try and get things right.

However, they were, understandably, keeping their options open in the wake of their barren run of form and were open to the possibility of making another change if things failed to pick up.

But after a 5-2 thumping at Atletico Madrid, which saw the club 4-0 down after just 22 minutes, it seems the board have now seen enough and are now ready to wield the axe.

TEAMtalk correspondent Graeme Bailey told us: “The club’s hierarchy are now in talks, having previously decided that Tudor would get until after the Atletico second leg…but the first leg defeat has forced a rethink.

New Tottenham manager latest: Two long-term options heading elsewhere…

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s hopes of landing a big-name to steer the club forwards from this summer have appeared to suffer a double blow.

Clearly, the rebuilding job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looks a seriously daunting prospect, and it appears to have dissuaded two much sought-after options over taking charge at season’s end.

First up, their number one choice for the role is now in danger of being whisked away to Real Madrid after he emerged as the top pick for Los Blancos president Florentino Perez.

Another option for Spurs in the permanent manager’s role has now also made his ambitions to take charge at Manchester United instead.

On the transfer front, a surprise first exit of the summer at N17 could seea trusted and versatile star depart for Juventus after TEAMtalk learned of the Serie A side’s response to Spurs’ asking price.

In other news, we can reveal that if Spurs retain their Premier League status, they will look to rekindle interest in a top January target, though competition for the player looks to be extremely tough.

'Anyone but him' - raging Spurs fans demand instant Igor Tudor sack with 16 alternative managers suggested - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have clearly had enough of Igor Tudor and have demanded the club take immediate action to remove him from the hotseat, with 16 different managers suggested to take charge, though TEAMtalk understands ENIC have just one major name under discussion.

It goes from bad to worse to the utterly abysmal for Tottenham. The north London side are now, officially, on the worst run in their entire history after losing a sixth consecutive match on Tuesday night as Atletico Madrid ripped them apart 5-2 in the Champions League last 16 first-leg tie.

After falling 4-0 down in just 22 minutes, those in charge of the club must have been watching in horror as the enormity of their mistakes came home to roost once again.

With four of those losses coming under Tudor, ensuring he has made the worst start of any Spurs manager in history, supporters have clearly seen enough.

Taking to social media platform X to express their dismay at what has unfolded before their eyes, supporters are demanding instant action.

‘Anyone would be better than him right now,’ one fan argued, before the names started to roll in, ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous.

‘Even Christian Gross would be better at this stage, one suggested, before another stated ‘Frank de Boer’, referring to his ill-fated reign at London neighbours Crystal Palace.

Elsewhere, some suggested Sam Allardyce needs to come to the rescue, while many called on Sean Dyche or Ryan Mason to get the job. Wayne Rooney was even suggested!

Another fan called for Daniel Levy to get the gig, implying he has been running the club for years anyway. In contrast, more ambitious calls suggested they ask either former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim or ‘get on their knees and beg [former Barcelona coach] Xavi Hernandez’.

Another fan suggested ‘either Harry Redknapp, Tim Sherwood or Robbie Keane’, while another simply called for them to bring Thomas Frank back.

Sticking with the Tottenham old-boys theme, there were calls for Mauricio Pochettino, Glenn Hoddle and even Sol Campbell.

Whatever happens, some fans feel the club is doomed regardless, commenting: ‘Ain’t a coach alive or dead could ever get a tune out of this squad, they’re league one level at best!’

Another replied: ‘No one can save this team.’

However, TEAMtalk revealed in the wake of Tuesday’s shambolic display, that only three names are under consideration, with one very much the favoured option with ENIC…

DON’T MISS: Tottenham told they are ‘getting relegated under Igor Tudor’ as FIVE pundits plead for instant sack

Tudor expected to be sacked by Tottenham

In the wake of three successive Premier League losses last Thursday, TEAMtalk was told that the club had decided to stick with Tudor for now, despite running assessments on a number of would-be successors.

However, it seems they may now have seen enough in the wake of Tuesday’s dismal display, and we understand it’s now a question of when, not if that Spurs will wield the axe once again.

Worse still, Tudor looks like a completely beaten man on the sidelines and faces being shown the door after barely a month in charge.

Indeed, TEAMtalk correspondent Graeme Bailey told us: “The club’s hierarchy are now in talks, having previously decided that Tudor would get until after the Atletico second leg…but the first leg defeat has forced a rethink.

“Tottenham’s hierarchy is in regular contact with the Lewis Family, whilst Daniel Levy, still a significant shareholder in ENIC, is being kept informed and aware of the situation.

Other options to come in include Sean Dyche and former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason, who has served as caretaker manager twice before.

Tottenham latest: Real Madrid plan hijack; shock Juventus transfer plan

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s dreams of appointing their dream first choice to take charge next season are in danger of collapsing after a report claimed he could now be whisked away to take charge at Real Madrid instead, having emerged as a top pick for Los Blancos president Florentino Perez.

It gets worse. Another option for Spurs in the permanent manager’s role has now made his ambitions to take charge at Manchester United clear.

On the transfer front, a surprise first exit of the summer at N17 could see a trusted and versatile star depart for Juventus after TEAMtalk learned of the Serie A side’s response to Spurs’ asking price.

Another star who looks increasingly likely to depart this summer is Guiglielmo Vicario. And amid growing exit reports, a damaging report in Italy have claimed the goalkeeper has been left feeling ‘drained’ by the club’s struggles and has already made clear his wish to leave this summer and amid suggestions he has ‘not warmed’ to Tudor.

ENIC done with Igor Tudor as Tottenham sink to new low and talks escalate for preferred replacement - TEAMtalk
Description

Robbie Keane is the preferred Tottenham Hotspur option to get them out of the complete mess they find themselves in, with Igor Tudor expected to be sacked after suffering his fourth successive defeat since taking on the interim role in north London.

Spurs collapsed to a 5-2 defeat at Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, a game in which they found themselves 4-0 down after just 22 minutes following some catastrophic goalkeeping from Guglielmo Vicario’s replacement on the night, Antonin Kinsky, and some woeful defending.

Indeed, Kinsky was hooked after just 17 minutes in Madrid, with Tudor clearly seeing enough after making a huge call to replace Vicario in the first place.

Having lost his first three Premier League games in charge, leaving Tottenham sitting just a point above the relegation places with only nine games remaining, there was some hope of respite in a competition where the club have performed very well this season.

However, Spurs were ripped to shreds by a rampant Atletico side, with Tudor looking a completely beaten man on the sidelines and facing being shown the door after barely a month in charge.

Indeed, TEAMtalk correspondent Graeme Bailey told us: “The club’s hierarchy are now in talks having previously decided that Tudor would get until after the Atletico second leg…but the first leg defeat has forced a rethink.

“Tottenham’s hierarchy are in regular contact with the Lewis Family, whilst Daniel Levy – still a significant shareholder in ENIC is being kept informed and aware of the situation.

“Spurs are considering all options and we understand a host of agents and intermediaries have contacted them about potential replacements. But Keane is very much a preferred option.”

Keane was in the conversation to take the temporary reins after the sacking of Thomas Frank, but did not want to leave his job as manager of Hungarian side Ferencvaros for an interim role.

Other options to come in include Sean Dyche and former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason, who has done the caretaker role twice before.

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to greenlight the surprise sale of full-back Djed Spence to Juventus this summer after TEAMtalk learned of the Italian side’s response to the struggling Premier League side’s asking price.

As the summer transfer window looms, sources have confirmed Juventus have listed Tottenham full-back Spence, sparking fresh speculation about the 25-year-old’s future in north London.

The Bianconeri view Spence, capped three times by England, as a prime target to bolster their right-back options.

Juventus sporting director Marco Ottolini, who previously worked with the Englishman during his loan spell at Genoa in 2023/24, is understood to be keen on a reunion and is the man orchestrating this particular move.

Spence made 16 appearances in Serie A during that stint, impressing with his pace, physicality, and attacking contributions from defence.

The interest from Juventus, though, comes at a pivotal time for Spurs, who are navigating a challenging season that has seen their relegation concerns increase by the week.

Despite this, Spence has established himself as a key squad member under the current management, having played a significant role in past successes, including Europa League campaigns. He signed a new long-term contract in August 2025, tying him to the club until 2029 and strengthening Spurs’ negotiating position.

Spence could be first out in major Tottenham rebuild

Sources indicate Tottenham would demand around €32m (£27.7m, $37m) to part with the London-born defender, though it’s understood that a sale is not impossible as Spurs look to have a transformative summer and prepare for wholesale squad changes regardless of what division the club finds themselves in next season.

Indeed, their valuation of Spence reflects his recent form, versatility – he can operate on either flank – and the security of his extended deal.

And while no formal negotiations have begun, the fee is seen as achievable for Juventus if they prioritise reinforcing the full-back areas.

For Spence, a return to Italy could offer stability and a chance to build on his Genoa experience in a bigger club environment. Juventus, meanwhile, see him as an upgrade with his blend of speed, power, and offensive threat.

Tottenham are open to a sale should an offer meet their valuation, allowing them to generate funds amid squad planning. However, with Spence viewed as an important part of the team, any departure would depend on the right proposal.

As March progresses and Spurs chiefs begin to turn their focus towards the summer market, a separate report has picked out three ‘high-profile’ players the club plans to sell this summer, with Cristian Romero widely reported as being the first out of the door.

Tottenham latest: Double new manager blow; damaging Vicario claims

Another star who looks increasingly likely to depart this summer is Guiglielmo Vicario. And amid growing exit reports, a damaging report in Italy have claimed the goalkeeper has been left feeling ‘drained’ by the club’s struggles and has already made clear his wish to leave this summer and amid suggestions he has ‘not warmed’ to Igor Tudor.

With regards to Tudor, five pundits have united in warning Spurs their season is only heading one way if they stay loyal to the Croat, with calls growing for ENIC to sack him with immediate effect.

Should Spurs to part ways with Tudor in the coming weeks, they may miss out on one of their leading manager targets as he is keen on a move to Manchester United instead.

In addition, another top Spurs managerial target is also now in the crosshairs of Real Madrid amid reports he is now the chosen one for ambitious Los Blancos president Florentino Perez.

Liverpool will have to stump up a ‘huge fee’ if they want to sign Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni this summer, according to reports.

The Reds’ plans for strengthening at centre-back over the summer were left in tatters after Crystal Palace pulled the plug on the sale of Marc Guehi at the last minute.

Liverpool did sign a new centre-back from Parma, in the form of Giovanni Leoni, before the young Italy international succumbed to a season-ending injury in the Carabao Cup in September.

The Reds have had to manage with little back-up for Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk for most of the season and now Liverpool are set to strengthen at centre-back in the summer.

It was confirmed in January that Jeremy Jacquet will join from Rennes in the summer and they are also looking for a slightly more senior centre-back to go straight into the starting XI next term.

Inter Milan star Bastoni has been linked in recent months and Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke has warned Liverpool that it will take ‘huge money’ to prise the Italy international away from the San Siro.

O’Rourke adds that ‘bids in excess of £80million will be required just to bring Inter to the negotiating table’ with sources indicating that Liverpool’s ‘ability to sign him this summer depends on whether he is keen to explore a new challenge in his career’.

Bastoni the ideal successor for Van Dijk, but Barcelona are confident

As we confirmed recently, Barcelona are also looking at the possibility of signing Bastoni in the summer, though transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the Catalan giants could struggle to raise the finances.

Romano revealed: “When discussing Barcelona’s plans for the summer, one of the dream targets in defence remains Alessandro Bastoni. Barcelona really appreciate Bastoni and they admire his profile as a defender.

“However, I continue to repeat that for Inter he is an absolutely crucial player. He is not just another squad member. He is one of the most important players in the team and also an Italian international, so it would be a very complicated deal.

“The interest from Barcelona is genuine because they like Bastoni a lot, but everything will depend on their financial priorities and how much they decide to invest in different positions.

“We must remember that Barcelona will likely spend around €30 million to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent transfer. In addition to that, the club are also looking for a number nine.

“So the key question is whether Barcelona will still have the budget to afford Bastoni. That is why they are monitoring several alternatives and keeping different options open.”

However, TEAMtalk have been told that Barcelona are confident of getting a deal done for the Italian star, while Liverpool see him as the ideal successor to Van Dijk.

Barcelona’s confidence stems from positive early discussions with Bastoni’s representatives, though financial constraints could prove a hurdle.

Liverpool are not far behind, though, and Bastoni’s elite distribution aligns perfectly with the Reds’ build-from-the-back philosophy.

Micky Van de Ven more likely?

The report from O’Rourke and Football Insider adds that a deal for Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven is ‘more likely for Liverpool’ in the summer.

It is understood that Liverpool are ‘leading the race’ to sign the Netherlands international, while Barcelona are also ‘extremely interested’ in Van de Ven.

O’Rourke continues: ‘Van de Ven is expected to seek a move away from Tottenham in the summer, and as a result, he is a more likely candidate to join Liverpool than Bastoni is at the moment.’

More Liverpool news: Reds prepare early Diomande move, no-brainer Joe Gomez upgrade

Liverpool are prepared to make an early move for highly-rated winger Yan Diomande in the summer as they attempt to beat a host of clubs to his signature.

The interest from Anfield is not fully dependent on whether Mohamed Salah stays at Liverpool or not, and those close to the player have encouraged the Premier League giants to make their move.

As Liverpool look to sign centre-backs, Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez has opened the door to a move to Liverpool over the summer after admitting that he was a big Reds fans as a kid.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie Gray does not plan on leaving for Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, even if the north London outfit get relegated, according to a source, which has also revealed the club’s owners ENIC’s plan to sign a Wolves forward.

Spurs are facing a potential mass exodus should they go down from the Premier League at the end of the season. Tottenham are just a point above the relegation zone and have all of their last five Premier League games.

TEAMtalk’s transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, reported on March 3, 2026, that Gray is among the Tottenham players whose future is uncertain.

Sources have told us that Real Madrid have long ‘admired’ Gray, who cost Tottenham £40million (€46.2m, $53.8m) when they signed him from Leeds in 2024 and is able to play as a right-back and centre-back despite being a midfielder by trade.

Our transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, has also reported interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in Gray.

However, it seems that Gray himself is not itching to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, even if the north London club go down to the Championship.

According to Sports Boom, the 19-year-old has ‘reassured’ Tottenham that ‘he will not look to orchestrate a move elsewhere’ even if last season’s Europa League winners get relegated.

Gray, who starred for Leeds in the Championship, is ready to ‘lead the fightback’ for Tottenham, if indeed they end up in the second tier of English football.

Tottenham harbour Mateus Mane hopes

While Tottenham will be over the moon to learn Gray’s stance, the Premier League club are already planning ahead to the summer transfer window and have identified Wolves forward Mateus Mane as their ‘next big signing’, according to Sports Boom.

The report has claimed that Tottenham are ‘plotting a swoop’ for Mane, but for them to stand a chance of signing the Wolves forward, they need to stay in the Premier League.

Like Tottenham, Wolves are also in grave danger of getting relegated.

Tottenham reportedly believe that Mane would prefer to move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to switching to Manchester United or Liverpool because he would get ‘regular first team football’.

However, it is not going to be easy for Spurs to pull off the £50m (€57m, $67.4m) deal for Mane.

Our transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, has reported that Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are also keen on Mane.

There is interest in the 18-year-old English forward from Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, and Borussia Dortmund, too.

Even if Tottenham survive the dreaded drop to the Championship, one needs to ask why Mane would join a club that was involved in a relegation battle for two seasons in a row.
