Sources reveal curveball winger signing at Tottenham as €50m Ligue 1 attacker heavily scouted - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur could turn their year-long scouting of a top Ligue 1 winger into a January transfer swoop, according to sources, as Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange aim to provide Thomas Frank with attacking upgrades.

As TEAMtalk have consistently reported, Spurs are expected to sign a new left-winger after failing to adequately replace former skipper Son Heung-min, with the likes of Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons all failing to make the position their own.

In reality, Simons only started in that position as part of his transition to English football after his summer switch from RB Leipzig, with his best position as a No.10.

Johnson is more effective in Mohammed Kudus’ position on the right, while Odobert has some flashes that he could be the answer – but not enough for Tottenham not to move for an upgrade in the winter window instead.

As we’ve mentioned before, Antoine Semenyo and Ademola Lookman are the two favourites to fill that role, but now TEAMtalk insider Dean Jones has thrown a bit of a curveball when it comes to Barcelona target Malick Fofana.

We asked Jones if any Premier League clubs are in the mix to sign the explosive Lyon attacker in January, with Fofana expected to cost in the region of €50m (£44m / $58m), to which he replied: “If there is a battle to sign Fofana then it will be interesting to see if Tottenham position themselves as part of it.

“They had a look at him in the build up to last summer but by the time they decided to go for him it was a bit too late to bring anything to life.

“They have watched him a lot across the calendar year and obviously we know Spurs are drawing up their list of attacking options at the moment for future windows, so he probably would figure within that.”

Unbelievable signing, but Tottenham sent Fofana warning

Fofana has spent the large part of his career playing as a left-sided attacker, so would clearly be a strong fit for Spurs.

He’s not had the most explosive starts to the current campaign, scoring twice and adding one assist, but the 20-year-old Belgian is a two-footed, direct winger who would bring another dimension to Frank’s attack.

That being said, Jones has warned about the time it could take Fofana to adapt to English football, as has been seen with both Simons and Randal Kolo Muani, and the fact that Tottenham need players who can make an impact straight away.

Jones added: “I think a main thing would be to consider his adaptation time to the Premier League because with their next signings, they really do need players that hit the ground running.

“We have seen how Xavi Simons and Kolo Muani have not found the switch easy, when it comes to getting into the side and then performing constantly at their top level.

“So maybe Spurs have to think about that moving forwards. But he’s a player that has impressed them.”

Whether Tottenham actually move for Fofana remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – it would be a major mistake if a new left-sided attacker is not signed for Frank.

Liverpool to fight Tottenham for Antoine Semenyo as sources reveal all on explosive transfer battle - TEAMtalk
Description

Antoine Semenyo, the dynamic Bournemouth forward, has emerged as a prime target for Liverpool and Tottenham, with TEAMtalk sources indicating a potential blockbuster move on the horizon.

The 25-year-old Ghana international, who has lit up the Vitality Stadium with his explosive pace, physicality, and goal-scoring prowess, is “very keen” on a switch to Anfield, where Liverpool are eyeing him to bolster their attacking options.

Liverpool’s interest stems from their ongoing squad evolution under Arne Slot. Semenyo’s versatility to operate as a winger or central striker aligns perfectly with the Reds’ high-pressing system.

Insiders claim the Merseyside club has placed him firmly on their radar, viewing him as a long-term investment to complement stars like Mo Salah and Alexander Isak, and potentially replace the former in the long-term.

His impressive tally of six goals and three assists in 11 Premier League appearances so far this term has only heightened the buzz.

That is following on from a stellar 2024/25 campaign in which he notched 11 goals and six Premier League assists, which helped Bournemouth challenge for European football.

Liverpool have Semenyo high on their radar, but they won’t have it all their own way and Tottenham represent a formidable foe in the race…

Tottenham primed to battle Liverpool for Antoine Semenyo

Tottenham have been admirers of Semenyo for longer than Liverpool. They scouted Semenyo extensively during the summer transfer window but balked at Bournemouth’s lofty valuation, which exceeded £70m.

Thomas Frank’s side, seeking to add depth behind their strike force, had him high on their wishlist but prioritized other deals. However, their admiration persists, and a renewed push could materialize if they address squad imbalances in the coming windows.

Bournemouth, under Andoni Iraola, remain resolute in retaining their talisman through January.

The Cherries, enjoying another solid European chasing campaign, see Semenyo as integral to their ambitions and are unwilling to disrupt momentum mid-season.

Club officials acknowledge, though, that the summer of 2026 poses a sterner test. With his contract running until 2027, interest from top clubs is expected to intensify, potentially triggering a bidding war.

Semenyo’s rise from Bristol City to Premier League standout underscores his quality, determination and potential. Valued at around £60-80m depending on form, his marketability is soaring.

For Liverpool, he represents a shrewd addition; for Spurs, a statement signing.

As the transfer carousel spins, Bournemouth braces for inevitable approaches, while Semenyo dreams of elite European football.

The coming months could define his career trajectory in this intriguing saga.

Latest Liverpool news: Harvey Elliot in limbo / Marc Guehi battle boost

Meanwhile, two reliable journalists have revealed that Harvey Elliot must make five more appearances for Aston Villa for his loan move from Liverpool to be made permanent.

Villa must sign the 22-year-old for £35m if those conditions are met. However, there are growing concerns that he may not feature again under Unai Emery.

In other news, a reputable Spanish source has claimed that Liverpool are set to beat Real Madrid in the race to sign Marc Guehi.

The Crystal Palace captain is said to be already ‘on his way’ to the Merseyside giants.

Tottenham thundering towards elite winger signing in huge upgrade for Thomas Frank's attack - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly taken a step closer to the January signing of a top attacking target who would make a significant impression on Thomas Frank’s starting XI, if they can overcome interest from a LaLiga rival in his services.

It’s no secret that fresh attacking additions will be the main port of call for Spurs when it comes to the winter window, with TEAMtalk previously revealing that a left-winger is the main priority, followed by the potential signing of another No.9.

In terms of the latter, it’s been revealed that a top Brazilian talent is now on the club’s radar, but in terms of the left-wing spot that has been a clear issue to Son Heung-min’s exit, several names are in the mix.

Chief among them are Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, and it’s the latter that is the focus of the latest report when it comes to Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange’s search for quality January signings at Tottenham.

While TEAMtalk recently revealed how Lookman’s recent bust-up with Atalanta coach Ivan Juric enhanced their chances of snapping up the Nigeria international, TuttoJuve has now added more on the race to snap up the versatile forward.

The 28-year-old former Everton man scored 20 goals in all competitions last season, and his familiarity with playing in England means he should take no real time to settle.

TuttoJuve reports that Tottenham have now stepped up their pursuit of the player, following recent events, while interest from Atletico Madrid has also quickened that potential process.

It’s been reported that the Spanish giants are ready to pay as much as €60million (£53m / $69m) to get a deal done for Lookman, which seems a little steep for a player who is only under contract for another 19 months.

Whether Spurs are willing to match that sort of fee remains to be seen, although that will still be considerably cheaper than what Bournemouth are asking to part ways with Semenyo in January.

DON’T MISS ➡️ Journalist reveals if Tottenham think Thomas Frank appointment was a mistake as sack stance emerges

‘Phenomenal’ Lookman a strong fit for Tottenham

One player who is a massive fan of Lookman is current Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke, with both players part of the England U-20 team that won the World Cup in 2017.

Indeed, in an interview with Showmax, Solanke called Lookman “nothing short of phenomenal” and his “favourite Nigerian footballer”.

Solanke also added: “What he has been doing over the past few years has been nothing short of phenomenal. What he has been doing has been crazy, especially for the Nigerian national team, so I have been super proud”.

Lookman’s ability to be equally effective either out wide or through the middle is particularly attractive to Frank, although it’s that troubled left-wing spot that he is being tipped to fill.

If Tottenham are able to secure Lookman’s signature in January, get a fit and firing Solanke back alongside Mohammed Kudus on the right, then their attack looks an altogether different prospect.

Fabio Paratici tipped to pull off Tottenham signing masterclass in January move for Brazilian striker - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are being tipped to switch their focus for signing a new No.9 from Europe to Brazil, as sporting director Fabio Paratici looks to give Thomas Frank more firepower, although TEAMtalk can reveal why the latest links must come with a word of caution.

Adding a new striker in the new year has become one of Spurs’ top priorities due to ongoing injury concerns over Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani’s struggles since his loan switch from PSG.

As yet, there is now clear news on when either could return to action, leaving Richarlison as the only senior central striker in the squad, although Mathys Tel and Dane Scarlett are other options for Frank in that regard.

Tottenham have been heavily linked wth the likes of Ivan Toney, Dusan Vlahovic and even a shock return for Harry Kane, but latest reports suggest they are now looking at the South American market instead.

Indeed, it’s claimed that Spurs have joined the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea in showing firm interest in Palmeiras frontman Vitor Roque.

Football Insider reports that Vitor Roque is a forward who has been attracting plenty of attention from across the Premier League, with the 20-year-old having scored 20 goals in 52 appearances for Palmeiras.

Indeed, speaking on the Inside Track podcast about Spurs and other Premier League clubs’ interest in Roque, Pete O’Rourke said: “It is an interesting one. Obviously, Roque, when he joined Barcelona from Athletico in Brazil, there was a lot of hype about him, but he really struggled to make an impact for the Catalan giants.

“Then he obviously moved back to Brazil with Palmeiras in February of this year and to be fair to him, the player has rediscovered his best form.

“I think Vitor Roque might be one that might be more in the summer that some clubs might look at. You have also got reported interest from Chelsea and Tottenham in Vitor Roque as well.

“So I think it would be more than just Manchester United who will be interested in him if he does continue his fine form for Palmeiras.”

It has been reported that Palmeiras would only accept a bid of at least £42million (€47m / $55m) for the striker in January, amid interest from the Premier League.

DON’T MISS ➡️ The key contract details of every Tottenham first-team player: Expiry dates, weekly wages, agents…

Why Vitor Roque siging could be a huge gamble

While adding another No.9 to Frank’s squad has now become a major priority for Paratici, moving for Vitor Roque must be considered a gamble.

Tottenham already have one Brazilian striker who is incredibly inconsistent in front of goal in Richarlison and Vitor Roque showed in his small sample size in Europe that he was not quite up to the task.

Having officially joined Barcelona in January 2024, the frontman notched just twice in 16 appearances for the club before being loaned out to Real Betis for the 2024/25 campaign.

He managed to notch seven times in 33 outings for Betis before heading back to Brazil in February this year when Palmeiras splashed out an initial fee of €25.5million. At the time, that was a new record as the most expensive signing in South American football history.

Given his struggles to adapt to European football before, Spurs could be taking a massive gamble if they do move for the Brazilian over a more proven goalscorer on this continent.

Latest Tottenham news: Frank future assessed; Vlahovic chase update

First up, Tottenham have made a decision on whether or not they will sack Thomas Frank as the manager, as a Sky Sports pundit sends a warning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have made a decision on whether or not they will sack Thomas Frank as the manager, as a Sky Sports pundit sends a warning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful.

Frank was appointed the Tottenham manager at the end of last season following the north London club’s decision to sack Ange Postecoglou despite winning the Europa League. The Dane was a huge success at modest Brentford, and his experience in the Premier League saw him earn the move to Tottenham.

Tottenham are doing well at the moment, with the club sitting in fifth place in the Premier League table and picking up eight points from four games in the Champions League.

However, not every Tottenham fan is happy, with many pointing out that Spurs have won just two home games all season.

Frank’s football is not swash-buckling like Postecoglou’s was, with a section of the Tottenham fans not pleased with the pragmatic style under the former Brentford manager.

However, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Tottenham are firmly behind Frank, with the board believing that the 52-year-old is the right man for the job.

O’Rourke told Football Insider: “There’s no panic I think from within Tottenham on what’s happening now.

“They’re still confident that Thomas Frank is the man for them and the fans might just have to be patient because Frank’s still working at the best, probably set up for his own side as well at Tottenham.

“So things could be a lot worse than fifth in the table and still competing in the Champions League. It can’t be that hard to be a Spurs fan right now, surely.”

Sky pundit sends warning to Tottenham fans about Thomas Frank

While the Tottenham hierarchy is firmly behind Frank, former Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison has warned the fans that the football under him is not going to get any better, as Spurs played out a 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League last weekend.

Morrison said on Sky Sports News: “It must be hard to play there for the players, but that is why you are paid good money to be a footballer, to entertain.

“The home fans pay their hard-earned money, and they can voice their opinion. Their opinion might not always be right, but they will think it is right.

“Xavi Simons did not want to come off and Mathys Tel comes on and scores the goal, so Thomas Frank, I think he does know what he is doing the majority of the time.

“I think he has gone in there and done well. The thing with Tottenham is it is not going to be the football that they [fans] expected, because Thomas Frank is not that kind of manager.

“We saw what he did at Brentford. They are hard to beat, they are a threat from set pieces, and they get wins, and that is how it is. So if they thought Thomas Frank coming in was going to be attractive football, it is not going to be like that.

“He knows, Thomas Frank, because he is a very, very good manager, and it is someone who I have got a lot of time and respect for, that he has to be successful at Tottenham, and they have to start winning home games because performances like on the weekend, that is not going to cut it with these Tottenham fans, because they voice their opinion.”

Tottenham cool interest in 64-goal star after dramatic U-turn leaves Frank eyeing alternatives - Sources - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have decided against pursuing a deal for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window, TEAMtalk understands, with Thomas Frank steering the club toward a different attacking profile.

The Serbian forward’s future has been a talking point for months, as his Juventus contract continues to wind down and interest from the Premier League has grown.

Vlahovic’s current deal expires at the end of this season, and as TEAMtalk revealed on November 3, Spurs are one of those that have been kept informed of his situation, along with Chelsea, Everton, and West Ham.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 64 goals in 160 appearances for Juventus, including one against Sporting CP in the Champions League last week, has been seriously considering a move to the Premier League.

However, TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham have now stepped away from the race, with club sources indicating they will not make an approach for Vlahovic in January, nor engage in talks if they are approached regarding his availability again.

While Tottenham remain ambitious in their transfer outlook, it is believed Frank and the club’s hierarchy are not convinced that Vlahovic is the right stylistic fit for their current needs.

And while interest from other Premier League clubs remains, Vlahovic could make a surprise U-turn and commit his future to Juventus…

Tottenham cool interest in Juventus star

The timing of Tottenham’s decision may also reflect Vlahovic’s improving situation in Italy.

His career at Juventus has been given fresh impetus since the arrival of Luciano Spalletti as head coach, with the striker rediscovering form and confidence under the new regime.

The noises in Turin suggest optimism is growing that the club will agree terms on a new long-term contract by the end of the season, effectively removing him from the market.

Whether any clubs come forward with offers for Vlahovic in January to try and lure him away from Juve still remains to be seen.

Tottenham still plan to strengthen up front, but are shifting their focus to other targets and profiles.

And the likes of Everton, West Ham and Chelsea will be forced to do the same should Vlahovic pen fresh terms with the Italian giants.

Sources had previously indicated that €20m (£17.5m / $23m) would be enough to sign Vlahovic in January, but that may not be the case now given Juventus’ new-found confidence over an extension.

Latest Tottenham news: Man City threaten / LaLiga star linked

Meanwhile, Tottenham remain interested in a potential move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, who could be available in the January transfer window.

However, TEAMtalk transfer insider Fraser Fletcher has revealed that Manchester City could make a strong push to sign the Brazilian this winter.

In other news, Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo has been linked with a move to Tottenham, as Frank looks to add to his wide options.

Man City surge ahead in race to sign Rodrygo as sources reveal damning Tottenham verdict - TEAMtalk
Description

Real Madrid star Rodrygo is on the brink of a January departure, with Manchester City emerging as the frontrunners and Chelsea making a late push, and there’s bad news for Tottenham.

The 24-year-old, frozen out under Xabi Alonso, has started just four LaLiga games this season, scoring twice while competing with Vinícius Júnior, Kylian Mbappe, and Endrick for minutes.

Frustrated and seeking regular football, TEAMtalk understands that Rodrygo has signalled openness to a mid-season move – despite Madrid’s preference to wait until summer.

Man City top the race. Pep Guardiola, planning for life after potential sales in January, views Rodrygo as the ideal versatile winger.

The Cityzens scouted him extensively last summer and remain ready to trigger a €60-80m (£53-£70m / $70-$93m) deal. With wages over €10m (£8.8m / $11.5m) annually within reach and the Premier League his preferred destination, the Etihad move aligns perfectly.

Chelsea, initially monitoring from afar, have kept tabs on his situation but do not want to disturb the progress of talents like Estevao.

Enzo Maresca wanted Rodrygo in the summer, but the move never transpired. Profit and Sustainability Rule (PSR) constraints mean the Blues must offload first, but the opportunity is there.

Tottenham chances of Rodrygo deal played down by sources

Bayern Munich’s early interest in Rodrygo has cooled. Once linked with a €100m (£88m / $116m) bid, the Bavarians have put their trust in Luis Diaz and Michael Olise, with Rodrygo no longer “a topic”, per sources.

Tottenham’s hopes of signing the Brazilian, meanwhile, have been firmly quashed.

Despite the board and Thomas Frank’s admiration, TEAMtalk understands that Rodrygo’s salary demands have been deemed to high by Spurs, for now at least, as they are keen to keep their wage bill low.

Sources confirm no January bid from Tottenham is forthcoming, though an €80m pursuit could resurface next summer, if he doesn’t leave Madrid before then.

The LaLiga value Rodrygo above €60 million now – down from summer’s €100 million tag – and remain open to offers.

Xabi Alonso trusts his long-term fit but won’t block a sale if the price is right. With Arsenal and Liverpool also keeping tabs the door is open for a major winter move.

As the window nears, Rodrygo’s next chapter hangs in the balance – one of Europe’s brightest talents, ready to reignite elsewhere.

And interestingly, sources say that Rodrygo is a more likely addition for Man City than his Madrid teammate Vinicius Junior, who has also been linked with a move to the Etihad.

Latest Man City news: Vinicius Jr claims / Shock Arsenal raid

Meanwhile, a Sky Sports journalist has reported that Man City are ‘observing Vinicius Jr from a distance’ as speculation over his Madrid future ramps up.

The journalist claims that Los Blancos have ‘set Vinicius’ asking price at €150million’ (£132m / $174m).

In other news, a shock report states that Man City are considering a swoop for Arsenal defender Ben White.

White is said to be ‘frustrated’ by his lack of minutes with Arsenal, and Guardiola’s side believe he would be a ‘good fit’ at the Etihad, it’s claimed.

Real Madrid in dreamland as Tottenham ‘go all out’ for €60m Japan star - TEAMtalk
Description

Real Madrid will be over the moon to learn that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to go big on Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo.

Kubo joined Madrid in the summer of 2019, but the Japan international winger failed to break into the first team and left for Real Sociedad on a permanent contract in the summer of 2022. During his time at Los Blancos, Kubo had loan spells at Real Mallorca (twice), Villarreal and Getafe.

A right-winger by trade, Kubo is also able to play as an attacking midfielder, second striker and left-winger.

The 22-year-old has gone from strength to strength during his time at Sociedad so far, scoring 24 goals and giving 18 assists in 147 appearances.

Tottenham wanted to sign Kubo from Sociedad in the summer of 2025, and a new report in Spain last week claimed that last season’s Europa League winners are still keen on him.

Kubo has a release clause of €60million (£53m, $69.6m) in his contract, and Tottenham are reportedly willing to pay it.

Tottenham are ‘determined to go all out’ for Kubo, claimed the report, which, if true, will be music to the ears of Real Madrid.

That is because, according to Defensa Central, a Real Madrid-centric news outlet, Los Blancos still own 50% of Kubo’s rights and have a 50% sell-on clause.

So, if Tottenham trigger Kubo’s release clause of €60m (£53m, $69.6m), then Real Madrid will get €30m (£26.4m, $34.8m).

Marca, the number one Spanish source for Real Madrid transfer news, reported the same arrangement between Sociedad and Madrid over Kubo back in July 2022.

According to the Spanish publication, if Sociedad decide to sell the winger before the summer of 2027, then Madrid will get 50% of the transfer fee.

The Japan international signed a new contract with Sociedad in February 2024 and is now under contract at La Real until the summer of 2029.

Tottenham transfers: 2026 intentions uncovered as four 'statement' targets revealed by sources - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s ambitious targets for 2026 are taking shape – and sources can reveal that the club will remain undeterred in their pursuit of statement signings to strengthen their squad.

Among the high-profile names being linked from outside England are Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, Samu Omorodion of FC Porto and Al Ahli’s Ivan Toney.

Within the Premier League, the recruitment team hold a strong admiration for the likes of Iliman Ndiaye at Everton and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, both of whom are viewed as players with the energy and attacking versatility suited to how Thomas Frank wants to level-up his attack.

It is expected Tottenham would be more likely to sign a wide forward than a central one – but that is not yet confirmed, as they will make a firm decision closer to January.

The club have already drawn up a list of options they will work through and are open-minded about how it opens up.

They hope to be boosted by the return of Dominic Solanke soon. Richarlison’s future is still up in the air and Randal Kolo Muani has had a setback after suffering a facial injury.

Tottenham to sign at least one new attacker

Sources are convinced that a new attacker will be through the door in January and there will be significant funds available for the right player.

TEAMtalk also understands Spurs will be willing to test the water for some top talent, in hope of turning heads in the new year.

Their recent enquiries around former Brentford striker Toney are part of the process of feeling out the market.

The Al Ahli star has been a proven goalscorer for a number of years and would be an ideal fit for Frank as he looks for consistent play from the No.9 position.

Latest Tottenham news: £500m boost; midfielder chase hots up

Elsewhere, sources can confirm that Spurs remain ‘very hot’ on a Premier League star who they have chased before, with TEAMtalk revealing why the midfielder is a perfect fit for Thomas Frank.

And finally, Tottenham have received a huge boost in their quest to bring Rodrygo to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a Brazilian report revealing the Real Madrid winger’s ‘preference’ should he leave Real Madrid, as the star’s comments on his future at the Santiago Bernabeu come to light.

Tottenham backed to secure gigantic £500m double deal in seismic ENIC shift

Jaw-dropping £500m double deal to take Tottenham to next level in major ENIC prediction - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are being backed to take a unique approach to negotiating their shirt sponsorship and the naming rights of their stadium, combining the two in a jaw-dropping £500million (€567m / $659m) boost for the club.

It’s been a slighty mixed start to Thomas Frank’s reign in north London, with plenty of positives but also some glaring negatives – particularly when it comes to the club’s home form.

However, off the field there have been significant changes since Daniel Levy’s shock exit, with majority shareholders ENIC, who are owned by The Lewis Family, already investing a further £100m into the club ahead of the January transfer window.

Naming rights for the stadium are also a pressing matter, given that Tottenham moved into their new home way back in April 2019.

It’s been suggested over recent weeks that Levy’s exit may pave the way for Spurs to finally find a naming rights partner, with ENIC known to be looking for a lucrative long-term deal.

It was also announced last week that AIA will only remain Tottenham’s front-of-the-shirt sponsor until the end of the 2026/27 season, revealing that they will become the club’s Global Training Partner from July 2027 through to June 2032.

That change means Spurs will get significantly less revenue than their current £40m-a-year deal with AIA from 2027, leaving the club actively hunting for a new front-of-the-shirt sponsor.

And now TBR Football reports, through football finance expert Kieran Maguire, states that Tottenham could look to combine the naming rights of their stadium and the front-of-shirt sponsor under the same deal, which is why they amended their agreement with AIA in the first place.

Maguire said: “They could go down the same route as Man City, whereby they have naming rights and front-of-shirt under the same deal.

“By scaling back the AIA deal, they may be trying to size up another company for that kind of deal. I remember being in a meeting with someone from Spurs pre-COVID and they were very bullish that a deal was about to be finalised. I assume that Levy had the final say and, in the end, didn’t want it.

“It may be that AIA have said they aren’t interested at the quoted prices for a combined stadium and front-of-shirt deal, and this might clear the decks for a new sponsor that unites those two.”

Tottenham in a hurry over stadium naming rights

Maguire also states that Tottenham are in a hurry to secure a naming rights partner, as the value of the stadium’s naming rights will only drop with each passing year.

He suggested that Spurs will be looking for a mega-money deal worth around £500m over 10 years for the naming rights of the stadium, alongside their shirt sponsorship.

Maguire added: “The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sounds too clunky. If they don’t strike relatively soon, the opportunity to strike a name that will actually stick in the public consciousness will evaporate.

“It will have to be a very long deal. Spurs are too big a club to go for a short-term deal.

“If they go for that, they’ll be looking for at least £50m per year, which is going to be £500m over 10 years.”
