Tottenham target familiar face for Thomas Frank in stunning raid 2026 raid - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham are reportedly preparing to make a 2026 move for a powerhouse forward who Thomas Frank knows very well, although TEAMtalk can reveal why a January move might end up scuppering that interest.

Signing a left-sided forward remains arguably Spurs’ biggest priority in the new year, after failing to truly replace club legend Son Heung-min following his move to MLS over the summer.

Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert have both tried and failed to make the position their own, while Mathys Tel has operated more through the middle and was left out of the Champions League squad.

Summer signing Xavi Simons has now started to transition into the No.10 role in the absence of both Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison, leaving a lack of quality opposite the outstanding Mohammed Kudus.

To that end, Tottenham are expected to spend significant funds to rectify their failure to replace Son, with several names linked with a switch to north London.

The top two remain Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, but now a report from Florian Plettenberg states that Spurs are also in the running to sign Brentford attacker Kevin Schade.

The Sky Germany reporter claims that Tottenham are believed to be among several clubs closely monitoring the development of the 23-year-old winger, amid his impressive displays at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Schade scored 11 goals and provided two assists in 38 appearances for Brentford last term under current Spurs boss Frank, and netted his first of the current campaign in the 2-2 draw at home against Chelsea in September.

The German, praised as ‘unbelievable’ by Frank during his Bees tenure, is being lined up for a summer move to Tottenham, according to Plettenberg.

Tottenham cannot wait for new left winger

While Plettenberg states that Tottenham are ready to move for Schade in the summer of 2026, the need to sign a more productive left winger than they currently have is far more likely to happen in January.

The report is unclear as to whether Brentford are open to a mid-season sale, leaving Spurs looking at their other targets instead.

TEAMtalk insider Dean Jones has confirmed to us that Semenyo remains the first-choice for the position, although the Cherries star will not come cheap and it would take a considerable offer to convince the south coast outfit to sell in January.

Semenyo is arguably the best fit of the names mentioned, especially when you consider that he can cover both wide positions and is also an international teammate of Kudus.

Lookman, meanwhile, has only just worked his way back into the Atalanta team after pushing for an exit before the summer window shut.

The Nigerian came close to joining Tottenham late in the summer window, only for a move to fall through after it was revealed that Spurs only wanted a loan and Atalanta a permanent one.

Either way, if Frank gets a new left winger on board in January, it’s highly unlikely that he then moves back into the market for Schade.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are back in action nest Sunday when they host Aston Villa in the Premier League.

changing January target revealed after £100m cash injection

Spectatcular Tottenham January target revealed after Enic powerplay - why statement signing has to happen - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to have a significant impact on the January transfer window after the £100million cash injection from majority owners Enic, with TEAMtalk looking at where that money could be spent and also identifying the club’s No.1 transfer target.

Spurs had a strong end to the summer window after they splashed in excess of £50m to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and also landed a loan coup in the shape of PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani.

While the latter has endured a frustrating start to life at Tottenham, having been limited to just one cameo appearance off the bench so far due to a dead leg suffered a training, Simons has started to show flashes of the quality that convinced Spurs to beat London rivals Chelsea to his signature.

And, with Thomas Frank’s men sitting third in the Premier League table and making an unbeaten start to their Champions League campaign, The Lewis Family have clearly looked to jump on that feel-good factor by investing a significant sum of money to help bolster the first-team squad in the new year.

With that in mind, TEAMtalk transfer insider Dean Jones has taken a look at where that money could be spent to help Frank going forward.

Jones told us: “Squad investment is a top priority and while every area is being explored in some shape or form, I think the attack is the area to look out for as the most interesting.”

In terms of a particular player who is on the club’s radar, Jones added: “We already know they like [Antoine] Semenyo and very soon they are going to have conversations that outline other potential targets.

“My personal feeling, based on what I’ve heard, is that they feel Semenyo might be too difficult for January. That doesn’t mean they won’t push for it but it does mean they might have other considerations too for the front line.

“It might even be that they sign a new centre forward – these are the sort of things they aim to address and decide.

“This month is key to getting lists together and they will whittle it down in time for the end of the year when they step things up. But the squad investment figures will be significant.”

Why Tottenham MUST make Semenyo statement signing

The Bournemouth attacker has made a spectacular start to the new season, notching six goals and three assists in just eight games so far.

However, that start means his price tag is only going one way, especially when you consider that the Cherries did not insert a release clause in the new five-year, £75,000-a-week deal he signed early in the summer.

Semenyo would likely double that salary figure if he did move to north London in January, however, with Frank a massive fan of what the Ghana attacker has to offer.

Indeed, the thought of having Semenyo in the troublesome left-wing spot for Tottenham, opposite his international teammate Mohammed Kudus would be a mouth-watering prospect.

As Jones explained above, trying to convince Bournemouth into the mid-season sale of arguably their best player would be tough, but Spurs have to try and make a statement that they mean business – both on and off the pitch after Daniel Levy’s exit.

It may well take an offer in excess of £80m (€92m / $107m) to get a deal done for Semenyo but the funds were there at the back end of the summer window, and this cash injection clearly means Frank will get the chance to make a significant addition or two to his squad in the new year.

Tottenham are preparing to enter the market for another goalkeeper, TEAMtalk understands, with plans getting underway to identify potential targets ahead of the new year.

Elsewhere, Spurs are plotting a move for Porto goal machine Samu Aghehowa, with Thomas Frank thought to be keen to bring in more attacking depth amid Dominic Solanke’s injury woes, but he will command a huge transfer fee.

And finally, TEAMtalk can reveal that Tottenham have made enquiries about a potential transfer for a top African talent.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to enter the market for another goalkeeper, TEAMtalk understands, with plans getting underway to identify potential targets ahead of the new year.

Sources close to the club have revealed that internal discussions mark the early stages of what could prove to be a significant recruitment process.

Although Spurs currently sit third in the Premier League table after a promising start to the season under manager Thomas Frank, the club is looking to reinforce key areas in 2026.

The focus remains on making the right signings, even if that means waiting for the most suitable candidate to become attainable.

The goalkeeper position has been flagged as one of the priorities, and the club are to begin a formal process of identifying candidates to bolster Frank’s options between the sticks.

The move comes amid a period of change at Tottenham, following the recent departure of long-serving chairman Daniel Levy.

Fresh investment into the club is expected to trigger an ambitious recruitment drive in the coming year, with the January window seen as the first step in that wider plan…

Tottenham eyeing Vicario upgrade

While no specific names have been mentioned at this stage, early groundwork suggests Spurs are intent on building across the squad and any incoming goalkeeper would be seen as a key part of the strategy.

Fans can expect a carefully considered approach but the club are looking for new depth in the goalkeeper position in what could be a defining year for Tottenham’s project.

Current first-choice goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, who was signed under previous Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, has made some costly errors that have cost Spurs points this season.

And while some supporters have called for young stopper Antonin Kinsky, who joined in January, to be given a run in the first-team, it seems Frank wants more options between the sticks.

One could argue that Tottenham have never really replaced Hugo Lloris, who left the club over two years ago.

Latest Tottenham news: Goal machine eyed / Mainoo update

Meanwhile, Tottenham continue to be linked with a move for Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, who TEAMtalk has confirmed is a genuine target for Frank’s side.

The 21-year-old has notched a sensational 32 goals in 53 games since joining Porto from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024.

Chelsea and Newcastle have also shown interest in signing Aghehowa, who has an £86m release clause in his contract.

In other news, TEAMtalk correspondent Fraser Fletcher reports that Tottenham are keen to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo on loan in January.

Manchester City and Newcastle are also understood to be keeping tabs on the situation.

Mainoo remains committed to the Red Devils but is becoming increasingly frustrated by his lack of game time.

Description

Tottenham are plotting a move for Porto goal machine Samu Aghehowa, with Thomas Frank thought to be keen to bring in more attacking depth amid Dominic Solanke’s injury woes, but he will command a huge transfer fee.

Solanke has played just 31 minutes of Premier League football this term after he picked up an ankle injury in the second game of the season. The injury has required surgery and will keep him out for several months.

Randal Kolo Muani is yet to make a league appearance for Spurs this term and given Richarlison’s poor record with knocks, it’s no surprise to see the London side looking at forward options.

Aghehowa, who has notched a sensational 32 goals in 53 games since joining Porto from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024, is one player TEAMtalk has confirmed is on Tottenham’s radar.

That has been backed up by journalist Pete O’Rourke, who told Football Insider: “I’m sure he’s [Aghehowa] somebody who’s maybe on the list of Tottenham and other clubs in the Premier League.

“Chelsea [came] very close to signing him a couple of transfer windows ago before the player decided to stay.

“Then Newcastle had him on their list in the summer window as they looked at potential replacements for Alexander Isak before signing Nick Woltemade.

“So I think he’s a top young player, 21 years old, Spain international. It’s no surprise that Tottenham and all these other big clubs in the Premier League are looking at him.”

“He’s a player with huge potential and could really develop into one of the best strikers in Europe, if he continues his rise. I think that’s why these Premier League clubs are looking at him.

“He has got a release clause in his contract at Porto of around £86million, which is a big price tag on his head.

“But, I think if he continues what he’s doing right now and develops as a player and fulfils his potential, that could be a decent fee for somebody who wants to take him.

Tottenham interest in Porto star confirmed – sources

TEAMtalk transfer insider Dean Jones revealed on September 30 that Tottenham have been keeping a close eye on Aghehowa’s performances, sending scouts to watch him action regularly.

The recent £100million injection from Spurs’ owners has given Frank cause for optimism heading into the January transfer window, and the signing of a new centre-forward is under consideration.

Aghehowa could give Tottenham the clinical edge they need as they look to push for more trophies and a top four finish in the Premier League.

But with the youngster contracted with Porto until 2029, the Portuguese giants are in a strong negotiating position and would likely demand his £86million release clause in full for a transfer next year.

Harry Kane has also been linked with a sensational return to Spurs and while we understand he’s open to coming back one day, he is happy with Bayern Munich for now.

It will be interesting to see whether Frank does look to splash the cash on a new forward.

But sources have told TEAMtalk that the manager intends to keep Richarlison central to his starting XI, barring an injury, and so far the Brazilian has repaid that trust with consistent performances.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk correspondent Fraser Fletcher has revealed that Tottenham are keen to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo on loan in January.

Manchester City and Newcastle United are also understood to be keeping tabs on the situation.

Mainoo remains committed to the Red Devils but is becoming increasingly frustrated by his lack of game time, and could pursue a mid-season exit to boost his England chances for the 2026 World Cup.

Description

Sani Suleiman was one of Nigeria’s brightest talents at the recent under-20 World Cup, and TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that Tottenham have made enquiries about a potential transfer, but they face competition, with Rangers among his rival suitors.

The 19-year-old left-winger, who plays for Slovakian side AS Trencin, impressed with his speed, creativity, and ability to impact games in key moments.

Unfortunately, he missed the Round of 16 clash against Argentina due to suspension, and his absence was clearly felt as Nigeria suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat and exited the tournament.

Despite that setback, the competition confirmed Suleiman’s growing reputation. He provided a crucial assist in the decisive group-stage win over Saudi Arabia and consistently stood out as one of Nigeria’s most dynamic players.

TEAMtalk understands that scouts from several major clubs were in attendance to follow his performances, including Tottenham, but also others, such as Rangers.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, Suleiman was recently ranked as the most complete Under-21 winger based on seven key performance metrics – and was also included among the top 200 U20 outfield players in the world.

Statistical analysis such as this is is increasingly used by top sides, so it’s no surprise to see interest in Suleiman ramp up.

Tottenham make enquiry for top Nigerian prospect

TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham have already made initial enquiries about Suleiman’s contract situation and potential availability for future transfer windows.

However, Thomas Frank’s side are not alone: Bayer Leverkusen, Rangers, other top English sides, and clubs across Europe’s top five leagues are closely monitoring his progress.

Rangers’ transfer targets for January and beyond could hinge on their next managerial appointment, and as TEAMtalk insider Fraser Fletcher has revealed, Steven Gerrard is very close to returning to the Ibrox hot seat.

For now, Suleiman remains focused on his return to AS Trencin, determined to keep improving and justify the growing attention surrounding his name.

The teenager has made 30 appearances for the Slovakian club to date, notching four goals and two assists, and just seems to keep getting better.

A leap into major European football seems to be a sealed fate for Suleiman, and Tottenham are in a good position to strike as they look to invest in the world’s most exciting young talents.

Latest Tottenham news: Big Palhinha, Semenyo updates

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Dean Jones has revealed that Bayern Munich have given Tottenham the green light to sign of Joao Palhinha permanently.

The 30-year-old joined Spurs on a season-long loan in early August, with the deal containing an option to make permanent for €30m (£26m, $35m).

His impressive performances have led to speculation that Bayern could recall him, but we understand that is not being considered, with Tottenham likely to trigger their buy option, potentially before the end of the season.

In other news, TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham remain big admirers of Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, with a bid under consideration.

Liverpool are also watching his situation, so Spurs may face competition should they pursue a transfer.

Dream signing to electric Brazilian talent - Ranking FIVE Tottenham left wing January targets - TEAMtalk
Description

After an impressive end to the summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be back in the market again in January, with TEAMtalk ranking five options for the one position that currently stands out like a sore thumb – the left wing.

Spurs have made a strong start to the new season under new boss Thomas Frank, sitting third in the Premier League table and taking four points from their opening two Champions League outings.

Despite that, there have been a couple of teething problems for the Dane, one of which is how to get much more productivity out of the left side of the Tottenham front line.

Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert have so far tried and failed to claim the position as their own, while Xavi Simons is far better operating as the No.10 in the continued absence of James Maddison in particular.

With that in mind, TEAMtalk have ranked five attacking players who have all been heavily linked with a switch to Tottenham going back to the summer, in order of least likely to sign to most…

The Milan star was a player who was strongly linked with a move to north London in the closing days of the summer window.

However, it was Spurs themselves who backed away from a potential transfer, with the Italian giants reportedly demanding €100m (£87m) for the Portugal international.

After starting the new campaign with a calf injury, Leao has only recently returned to action and has scored once in three games so far.

He remains, though, a key man for the San Siro outfit and they are unlikely to budge from that sort of figure, especially for a player who remains under contract until 2028.

To that end, we have Leao as the least likely of the five players mentioned to move to Spurs in January.

DON’T MISS ➡️ Premier League signings of the season power ranking: New top two as Liverpool, Chelsea stars fall

The supremely gifted Monaco attacker was another player tipped to join Tottenham over the summer, only for the club to move on to other targets instead.

In truth, Akliouche is fourth on the list because he doesn’t really fill that left-sided void – although he could, at a push.

The 23-year-old has featured as a left-winger only three times in his career so far, with the vast majority of his games coming from the right. He can also operate inside, though.

Akliouche has scored twice and has one assist so far this season, having also started both of Monaco’s Champions League outings. Indeed, Tottenham will get a first-hand look at the classy attacker when they to France after the latest international break.

L’Equipe has previously reported that Monaco value the Ligue 1 outfit in the region €70m-€80m, although it’s thought he would be available for less than that.

Tottenham are reported to have jumped to the front of the queue when it comes to winning the race for the explosive Brazilian talent.

It’s claimed that Spurs scouts made a trip to South America last week to watch Vasco Da Gama winger Rayan, who has been setting the Brazilian top-flight alight this season.

The teenager is rumoured to have a release clause of €40m (£34.3m) in his contract, although it has emerged over recent days that Tottenham could face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Brighton and Nottingham Forest for Rayan’s signature.

And although reports from Brazil claim Spurs have already done groundwork on securing a work permit ahead of a new year move, the fact that Chelsea are in the mix is a massive worry – given their penchant for signing young Brazilian talent.

That’s part of the reason why we have Rayan at third on this list, with the fact that he is only 19 and unproven at Premier League level, also a concern.

To that end, Tottenham need a ready-made, high-level performer ready to step straight in, and while Rayan could be just that in the future, it’s important that Frank fixes that left-wing issue ASAP.

A player who had looked very likely to move to north London late in the summer window only for the switch to fall through.

Tottenham wanted to sign the former Everton man on a straight loan, rather than forking out the £43million it would’ve taken to get a deal over the line, meaning they ultimately missed out on his signature.

Lookman, who is capable of playing wide left or through the middle, had been out of favour at the start of the new season but has since returned to the Atalanta side.

The 27-year-old has scored a hugely impressive 52 goals and added 25 assists in just 121 games for the Serie A outfit, having rebuilt his career after struggling previously at Everton.

Lookman would give Frank a genuine goal threat from the left flank and also the option to play him centrally if needed. Add in the fact that he will be out of contract in the summer of 2027, and Tottenham should be able to do a deal in January for less than what they were quoted in the summer.

A real no-brainer of a move for a player who has had a tremendous start to the new season with Bournemouth.

Semenyo has already scored six goals and added three assists in just eight games for the Cherries this term, with half of those appearances coming on the left wing.

It’s no secret that Tottenham have held the player in high regard for some time, and TEAMtalk transfer insider Dean Jones has informed us that the club will properly assess the level of competition before committing to a bid for Semenyo in 2026.

The issue for Spurs, at this stage, is that Semenyo does not have a release clause and his price tag is only going one way – UP.

Indeed, TEAMtalk can also reveal that Bournemouth now consider the 25-year-old international teammate of Mohammed Kudus as a £100m player.

Now Tottenham has just received a £100m cash injection from majority owners ENIC to bolster their squad going forward, but the chances of them spending that on just one player are pretty slim.

Having said that, it at least shows some genuine ambition from the board and the realisation that big money is needed to get the club to where Thomas Frank wants them to be – challenging for ALL major honours.

Adding Semenyo on the opposite flank to Kudus would be a great start and also a nightmare match-up for opposing full-backs.

Let’s just see if they are now ready to take that plunge and smash their transfer record in the process.

Chris Waddle addresses 'question marks' on Tottenham signing as Prem title prediction made - Exclusive - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham great Chris Waddle believes Mohammed Kudus is a ‘wonderful’ player and is destined to achieve big things with Spurs, though there could still be ‘question marks’ about his mentality, while he has also dropped his verdict on what Thomas Frank should aim for this season.

Tottenham signed Kudus from West Ham United over the summer for a fee of £55m, and he has started all seven of Spurs’ Premier League games so far this term.

The 25-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or winger on either flank, scored his first goal for Tottenham against Leeds last weekend, and has notched five assists in the league thus far.

In an exclusive interview with TEAMtalk, in partnership with BestBettingSites.com, Waddle said Kudus still needs to prove himself, and also pointed out similarities between his game and the Ghanaian’s.

“I can definitely see the comparisons. Left-footed, coming inside, dropping his shoulder. I can see why people might say we’re similar. He’s a wonderful footballer, and I love watching him,” Waddle said.

“He’s very exciting, very skilful, can score goals, and he should probably score more than he does. One question about him might be that he almost disappeared last season [for West Ham] after a brilliant debut campaign after he joined from Ajax.

“Is there a question mark over his mentality or desire? We know he’s got all the attributes to be a top player and he seems to have come out the blocks very quick, as he did at West Ham. So we’ll have to wait and see on that.

“He sort of lost his way at West Ham. I don’t know what happened there, whether he got disillusioned or fell out with the coach, or didn’t like the position he was playing.

“But he’s at Tottenham now. He’s got to prove himself, which he is doing. I’ve always been a great believer that you judge players over three, four seasons. You don’t judge a player over three months.

“We know his first season at West Ham was great. His second season wasn’t very good. So we’ll wait and see. But definitely I can see why Tottenham fans have taken to him straight away. And if he keeps performing the way he is, then Tottenham’s definitely got a bargain on their hands…”

‘I felt sorry for Ange… but you need a plan B’

We also asked Waddle on his expectations for Tottenham this season, and whether they could push for the Premier League title.

Spurs currently sit third in the table, just two points behind leaders Arsenal, after picking up 14 points from seven games so far.

However, he believes a title-winning campaign may be a step too far for Frank’s team this time around.

“They’ve got to look at the top four, top five. I don’t know what gets you into the Champions League this year, but you’ll be thinking that is the target,” Waddle said.

“They’ve got to be looking at establishing themselves in the top five. Last year was a disaster in the league. I know they won the Europa League, but domestically, they were absolutely disastrous. With the players they had, they should never have been in the bottom five, bottom six, wherever it was. For a club like Tottenham, that’s unacceptable.

“Now they’ve brought in Frank and he has stabilised it. He’s not necessarily playing the Tottenham way, I suppose, but I think he looks at the opposition and he works tactics out and I think that’s what Tottenham need. All good teams have that ability to match an opponent. Last year was a bit gung-ho and we didn’t know what was going to happen. The players lost their way.

“The only thing I’d say in defence of Ange was that he got a hell of a lot of injuries. It was hard for Ange to get his side out, to play regularly and get to know each other. So on that side, I felt sorry for him. But again, he never had a plan B.

“I think the managers have got to have that in their locker these days. Thomas studies the opposition with his staff and they look at each game as they come along, and they adapt.”

Tottenham told brilliant deal for first signing of 2026 is ON - Thomas Frank LOVES the player - TEAMtalk
Description

Bayern Munich have given Thomas Frank clearance to push through the permanent signing of Joao Palhinha, sources have confirmed, after the midfielder made his feelings crystal clear about how he feels about life under the Dane at Tottenham Hotspur.

The experienced midfielder joined Tottenham on a season’s loan in early August, with the deal containing an option to make permanent for €30m (£26m, $35m) if he impresses. Following a season of frustration under Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich, where he only made 25 appearances across all competitions, a move was very much seen as being in everyone’s best interests.

And the former Fulham man has taken his opportunity with both hands, proving the perfect man to anchor the Tottenham midfield, where he has featured in every game across league, cups and Europe, racking up 11 appearances so far, eight of which have been as starts.

That good form has also seen Palhinha score three goals, having drawn a blank during his time in Germany, and now only one shy of his best-ever tally in English football, where he twice hit four goals with the Cottagers.

That has led to speculation that a recall to Bayern could be on the cards.

However, sources have told us the Bundesliga champions currently have no plans to reintegrate Palhinha into their set-up.

In fact, after he struggled to make an impression in Germany, Bayern have no plans to recall him and we’ve been informed that their intention is to move the player on either next summer, or sooner, should Spurs wish.

We’ve also been told that Palhinha, who admits to feeling complete again in London, is loving his role at the centre of Frank’s side.

Bayern stance on Palhinha as star makes Spurs feelings clear

Spurs, understandably, are very much interested in taking up the option on making his move permanent – and we understand they have had reassurances that Bayern Munich currently do not intend to give him a fresh chance to make a breakthrough.

They are very happy with their current midfield combinations, and sources do not believe they will attempt to bring him back.

It is great news for Spurs, who believe they are now on course to sign him at a bargain price in comparison to his true market value.

Palhinha himself has admitted his love for Spurs during an interview while on international duty with Portugal this week and he admits he owes Frank a great deal.

“[Last season] was a difficult season for me. I was injured and was out for longer than I’d expected,” he told the Portuguese media.

“After that, I didn’t get the chances I think I deserved [at Bayern], which also had an impact on my playing time with the national team.

“But these are phases. Our careers thrive on phases. Now, I’m going through a happy phase. A new club, a new project, in a league that’s not new to me and that I’m enjoying again.”

Hinting he is ready to make the move permanent, the 30-year-old continued: “At Tottenham, I’ve had chances I didn’t have before. I feel complete confidence in the people who wanted me to join the club. In this case, the manager.

“When we feel this confidence and that we’re wanted somewhere, I think that’s where we should be. I made this decision very easily.

“These chances are making me once again show what I’m capable of. I’m very happy with this new challenge and just want to enjoy the Premier League to the fullest.”

Meanwhile, an ambitious MLS side have presented their vision to a Tottenham attacker and Fabrizio Romano has offered a hint as to whether their audacious play will succeed.

On the incoming front, Tottenham will try to properly assess the level of competition before committing to a bid for Antoine Semenyo in 2026, but still view the attacker as a target despite his loftier-than-ever asking price, TEAMtalk understands.

Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in a top Real Madrid midfielder, per reports in Spain, though we can explain why the chances of landing the highly-rated star look bleak to say the least.

Tottenham will try to properly assess the level of competition before committing to a bid for Antoine Semenyo in 2026, but still view the attacker as a target, TEAMtalk understands.

Sources believe they are currently the club most interested in signing him, but with an exit still some way off, there is expected to be a battle for his signature when the time comes.

Semenyo has started the season brilliantly, notching six goals and three assists in seven Premier League appearances, which has only ramped up the transfer speculation.

Manchester United remain keen on Semenyo, but an offer will depend on the state of their squad build in the moment – as well as their league position.

It is thought the Red Devils consider him a good long-term signing regardless of who the manager is when a move becomes possible, as speculation surrounding Ruben Amorim continues.

As TEAMtalk correspondent Fraser Fletcher revealed yesterday (October 8), attention from Liverpool towards Semenyo is also expected to grow.

Manchester City and Aston Villa are also tracking the 25-year-old this season. Meanwhile, it is unclear if he is still wanted by Chelsea, as they plot the next phase of their team build and have other priorities.

The market value of Semenyo is going to play a big part in where he ends up – but Spurs may not be afraid of current speculation that Bournemouth rate him in the £100milllion bracket…

Tottenham could spend big on Semenyo

We are heading towards a time when Tottenham can push the boat out financially, with new levels of investment in Thomas Frank’s side anticipated.

Sources still believe Semenyo will not quite reach the £100m level – but accept Bournemouth are in a strong position to place him very high in the market, given he is contracted until 2030.

Tottenham should also be in a good position on a personal level too, with their wage structure expected to start to suit a battle for top talent better than it did when Daniel Levy was at the club.

But even if they are able to compete at new levels in the transfer market, it is expected they retain a sense of calm and do not unnecessarily overpay for new signings.

There have been some reports in recent days that Semenyo could become available in the January window if his high valuation is met.

TEAMtalk sources are cautious, however, and still believe a move will probably not open up until the end of the season.

Spurs are hoping to use well placed intermediaries to get a good understanding of what it will take to sign him in advance of any approach.

Latest Tottenham news: Barcelona battle / Mikey Moore recall update

Meanwhile, Barcelona have reportedly joined Tottenham in the race to sign Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, as Frank looks to bolster his frontline.

According to reports from Spain, Barca ‘want to sign’ Samu as Lewandowski’s replacement and are ‘preparing an ambitious move’ for him ready for summer 2026.

Barca scouts have identified Samu as ‘the ideal heir’ to Lewandowski, having been amazed by his performances in Portugal.

In other news, TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham will wait to see how Rangers progress under their next manager before making a decision on the future of loanee Mikey Moore, amid murmurs that they could recall him.

The winger has failed to make a big impact at Ibrox, and could fall down the pecking order under a new boss, with Steven Gerrard the favourite to replace the sacked Russell Martin.

MLS directors jet into London to accelerate shock signing of Tottenham attacker - TEAMtalk
Description

An ambitious MLS side have presented their vision to a Tottenham attacker and Fabrizio Romano has offered a hint as to whether their audacious play will succeed.

Thomas Frank’s arrival in north London has breathed new life into the careers of many a Tottenham star. Among those to have benefitted greatly from the Dane’s appointment is Richarlison.

The Brazilian frontman struggled with injuries under Ange Postecoglou and when fit, made little-to-no impact on the pitch anyway.

With Dominic Solanke sidelined with ankle issues, Richarlison has often led the line for Spurs in the early going this season and has already scored three times in the Premier League. He’s just one goal shy of matching his tally from last season’s campaign.

Richarlison is contracted to Tottenham until the summer of 2027. His future – and whether or not Spurs push for an extension – will come under the microscope in the near future.

And according to the latest from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Richarlison’s next move could see the Brazilian cross the Atlantic.

Following up on news broken by ESPN, Romano provided an in-depth update on the play Orlando City have made to snatch Richarlison in the summer of 2026.

“Orlando from MLS made… not a contract proposal, but a long-term vision approach for Richarlison,” said Romano on his YouTube channel.

“Orlando with their directors arrived in London in the recent days and met with people close to Richarlison to present a potential project for the future.

“So Orlando have an interest and ambition in trying to sign Richarlison.

“It’s still very early, no formal proposal, no financial terms discussed… basically what Orlando wanted to do was to tell Richarlison ‘we like you, we’re interested in you, let’s see what’s going to happen for the near future.’

“So Orlando have genuine interest in Richarlison.”

What happens next with Richarlison?

As mentioned, Richarlison is among those thriving under new boss Frank, but that situation could change when Solanke is fit.

Richarlison is capable of occupying a position on the flanks too, but again, the wide positions are fluid at Spurs right now, with TEAMtalk learning Tottenham are ready to bid big for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo next year.

In any case, what is clear is Orlando’s ambitious play only stands a chance of succeeding if Richarlison’s standing in north London declines.

Romano added: “It depends on what’s going to happen with Tottenham because for Spurs he’s still an important player. Considered important internally.

“Orlando can’t pay an important transfer fee and this is why it’s an unlikely story for today, but for the future keep an eye on Orlando.

“They have genuine interest in Richarlison and that could be an interesting story to follow for the Brazilian’s future.”
