Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Andy Robertson from Liverpool, with the Scotland international set to join as a free agent after the World Cup, but fans have spotted an error

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Liverpool defender Andy Robertson. The veteran left-back is currently stateside preparing for the World Cup with Scotland.

The tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada has not stopped the north London outfit from officially announcing him as a Spurs player. Roberto De Zerbi hailed the Scottish battler as "someone I've admired for a number of years" in the club's statement.

Robertson, 32, brings title-winning mentality and credentials, having claimed two Premier League crowns, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups and the Club World Cup during his time at Anfield. He also arrives on a free transfer, having left the Merseysiders upon the expiry of his contract.

Last season, Robertson featured in 24 Premier League matches, netting one goal. Prior to his switch, Robertson also posted a social media video, where he said: "Hi Tottenham fans, it's me, Andy Robertson here. As you can see, I'm not in Glasgow, I'm in America, just preparing for the World Cup. I just wanted to send you a quick message to say I cannot wait to play for you guys.

"I cannot wait to play in the stadium for the first time in front of you. I'm already looking forward to next season. All the best and I'll see you soon."

However, Spurs fans questioned why the left-back had no said 'Come on you Spurs' at the end of his greeting. One said: "Needed a COYS at the end." A second fumed: "No COYS? Send him back..."

A third added: "Robbo. Missed the COYS and that would have been perfect." Another echoed: "He just needed a COYS at the end there. Welcome to the greatest team in the world." While a fifth said: "No come on you spurs?"

In the statement, De Zerbi said: "Andy is someone I've admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team.

"He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch. I can't wait to start working with him and seeing the positive impact he will have on everyone around him."

Sporting director Johan Lange also stated: "We are delighted to welcome Andy to the club. First and foremost, he is an outstanding left-back - one of the best of all time in the Premier League, and someone who will improve our squad.

"In addition, his quality, character and leadership have been evident throughout a career in which he has regularly competed for - and won - major honours. Andy's professionalism and commitment will also be invaluable to the development of our squad.

"He shares our ambition and determination to bring success back to the Club. We are excited for Andy's new chapter with us and look forward to having him here after the World Cup."

Interestingly, Tottenham have yet to reveal what shirt number the Scot will wear in north London. During his video, which also featured a cameo from former Spurs captain Michael Dawson, Robertson's jersey was revealed without a number.

Regardless, he will compete for a spot alongside the likes of Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence. He will formally join the club on July 1, one day after his Liverpool contract expires.

Description

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero won't be in attendance supporting his team-mates for Spurs' crucial final game of the season against Everton as they battle relegation

Cristian Romero has infuriated Tottenham supporters after it was reported he won't be present for their relegation battle this weekend.

The Spurs skipper is sidelined through injury and has chosen to return to Argentina to support his former club this weekend, rather than back his team-mates against Everton. Romero picked up a knee problem in Tottenham's 1-0 defeat at Sunderland last month which has kept him out of their remaining fixtures. His absence proved a major blow for manager Roberto De Zerbi, though they have collected eight points from the subsequent five matches to keep their survival hopes alive.

Spurs head into their final fixture against Everton at home controlling their own destiny, aware that three points will guarantee 17th place and condemn West Ham to relegation in 18th. The Hammers sit two points behind their London neighbours and welcome Leeds on Sunday.

It promises to be a nerve-wracking and crucial Sunday for Tottenham, yet Romero will be nowhere to be seen in the stands. The club captain will instead be cheering on his former side Belgrano as they face River Plate for the Argentine championship this weekend. The Cordoba outfit shared footage on social media of Romero visiting their training facility on Friday.

That decision has sparked outrage on social media, with some supporters branding his choice as "disgraceful". Numerous others have suggested this marks the end of his tenure at the club, irrespective of whether they face relegation or not.

One fan said: "The captain of Tottenham Hotspur choosing to personally miss the club’s biggest-ever league match in our recent modern history. Romero should never be allowed to put on a Spurs shirt ever again. Damning indictment of a culture which has been allowed to manifest inside our club." Another said: "Outrageous. He can't be bothered to support his team-mates."

A third fan said: "I've defended Romero to the hills, several times. However, this is a disgrace from a "captain". Performs when he wants. Never does interviews. Cries about the ownership a couple of times and we all love him. Massive game on Sunday and he doesn't give a f***."

Romero has been heavily linked with a transfer to Atletico Madrid this summer, despite having three years remaining on a contract extension he penned last year. The 28-year-old moved to Spurs in 2022 from Atalanta and has made 156 appearances for the club.

His significance to the squad was emphasised by De Zerbi when announcing his season-ending injury last month. "Romero, I'm very sorry for him, for his injury," De Zerbi said. "First of all, Romero loves Tottenham, people have to know he's suffering for this injury, suffering because he can't play for us again this season. He's a great captain for us.

"We have to be positive. We have Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso, they are able to play, to play well, to give us the quality with the ball and to be strong in the defensive space so we can win. We want to win."

In his absence, Danso has paired up with Micky van de Ven in central defence, but the pair were unable to prevent Chelsea from securing a 2-1 victory on Tuesday, setting up a final-day relegation showdown.

Description

Daniel Levy was awarded a CBE by the Prince of Wales for his services to charity and the community in Tottenham, as the former chairman opened up about Spurs' Premier League relegation concerns

Ex-Tottenham bosses Daniel Levy has emerged from his bunker of silence and declared "not in a million years" did he witness warning signs during his tenure as Tottenham chairman that the club could find itself battling relegation.

Speaking to the Press Association at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, Levy, who stepped down from his position after nearly 25 years in September, said "relegation was not something we ever considered" when he was supervising the construction of the £1billion Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2019.

Spurs sit two points above the Premier League drop zone, having managed just 38 points from 36 matches so far this campaign, not securing a league victory in 2026 until April 25.

When questioned about his feelings regarding the club's league standing, he responded: "Emptiness... but I'm optimistic that we will remain in the Premier League."

He replied "never, no, not in a million years" when asked whether he spotted any indicators the club would find itself in a relegation fight.

Despite the side's dismal performance in the league, Levy stated he would carry on attending fixtures, declaring: "It's in my blood."

Levy received a CBE from the Prince of Wales for services to charity and the community in Tottenham, backing education, health and social inclusion and generating employment through the stadium's construction.

"I think Tottenham fans should be proud that the club has made such a fantastic contribution to the local population," he said. Having overseen Tottenham for 24 years, Levy was the Premier League's longest-serving chairman, yet he faced criticism from supporters for putting the club's commercial priorities ahead of achieving on-field glory.

Levy admitted he had wished to secure more trophies during his tenure, stating: "What I would have hoped for is winning the Premier League, winning the Champions League... easier said than done."

He revealed he discussed Aston Villa with William, who is a devoted Villa supporter, when he collected his honour.

"I thanked him for allowing us (Tottenham) to beat Aston Villa when we played them a few weeks ago," he said.

"He wished us luck the rest of the season, very much hoping that Tottenham survive in the Premier League."

Tottenham's Peppa Pig deal during relegation fight leaves Spurs fans dumbfounded - Daily Star

Tottenham are staring down the brink of a historically bad season, yet marketing chiefs at the club decided it was a good time to launch a new campaign with Peppa Pig

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been left furious after the club launched its own Peppa Pig range. Spurs remain in the bottom three with just four games to go and are in serious danger of being relegated to the Sky Bet Championship.

Although they managed to claim their first win of 2026 against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, they are still two points from safety. And just a matter of days before Roberto De Zerbi's side return to action against Aston Villa, the club have launched some new merchandise, inspired by a collaboration with Peppa Pig.

Among the offerings were a pink Tottenham hat which was adorned by characters from the cartoon.

And one angry Tottenham fan commented: "Lads we are on the brink of relegation,” before another sarcastically said: "On the brink of relegation. At least we have Peppa Pig merch to show for it.

A rival supporter also said: "Don't worry about relegation Spurs fans. At least you'll be able to meet Peppa Pig at the stadium in May.”

A second rival also said: “The concept of 'Spurs x Peppa Pig' I can’t even read it without laughing.”

Speaking after his side’s win on Saturday, De Zebri said: "I want to be positive but we still played the first 45 minutes very well. I think in the first half we played well.

"We didn't create big chances to score but anyway we had control of the game. And then, [in the second half] maybe the pressure, we lost distances on the pitch and every one of us wanted to go one-to-one.

"I'm happy for the result. I hope this result can change something in our head and mentality."

Tottenham relegation 'written in stars' as flops 'cosmically misaligned' warns astrologer

Tottenham relegation 'written in stars' as flops are 'cosmically misaligned' - Daily Star

Tottenham's relegation from the Premier League is 'written in the stars' as their starting XI "psychologically dissolves" due to their zodiac chemistry, an expert astrologer has warned

Tottenham Hotspur’s relegation from the Premier League is written in the stars, according to an expert astrologer.

Spurs have just four games to save themselves from humiliation and remain in the top-flight. Roberto De Zerbi’s team are currently two points adrift of London rivals West Ham, after the Hammers’ last-gasp win over Everton meant Tottenham’s first win of 2026 against rock-bottom Wolves failed to drag them out of the bottom three.

And what had been an amusing joke among rival fans throughout the second half of the season is now becoming a real possibility, with Spurs’ broken squad having to conjure up the fight that has been missing for 18 months in all respects if they are to avoid the drop.

Through Live Football Tickets, professional astrologer Antonella took a deep dive into the Tottenham squad’s dynamics and whether the answer to their problems lay in the stars. And it’s not good reading for Spurs fans.

She revealed: “You have a squad dominated by Earth (5 Virgo, 6 Taurus) and Mutable signs (Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces = 15 players). This is the signature of a group that is mentally busy but energetically inconsistent.

“Earth signs want control and certainty; Mutable signs adapt, doubt, and shift. Put together, this creates a dressing room where players constantly re-evaluate rather than assert. Add Pisces (5) into the mix and you introduce emotional diffusion, mood swings, and a loss of sharp competitive edge when things go wrong.

“This is not the zodiac chemistry of a relentless, identity-driven side; it’s the profile of a team that can play beautifully when conditions are right but psychologically dissolves when momentum turns.

“You also have too many internal leaders and not enough natural followers. Taurus, Leo, Aries, Sagittarius, and Aquarius all carry strong individual agendas (17 players). These signs don’t like being controlled; they believe in their own reading of the game.

“Virgo questions decisions, Sagittarius ignores structure, Taurus resists change, Aquarius resists authority, Aries acts impulsively. That creates subtle fragmentation rather than unity. What’s missing is Capricorn (only 1) and Scorpio intensity, signs that bring discipline, hierarchy, and survival instinct.

“Astrologically, this squad has talent and intelligence, but far too many voices and not enough collective will, which is why form collapses under pressure and leadership on the pitch feels blurred rather than commanding.”

After looking through the team and their star signs, Antonella concluded: “If we isolate the likely XI of Tottenham Hotspur, the pattern becomes even clearer, and more problematic.

“This team is dominated by Virgo (3), Taurus (2), and Aquarius (2), supported by Pisces, Cancer, Aries, Leo. That is Earth + Air + Water, with only one true Fire driver (Aries).

“In astrology, this is the signature of a side that is intelligent, positional, and thoughtful, but not instinctively aggressive. Virgo (Danso, Porro, Bissouma) brings analysis, caution, and overthinking under pressure.

“Taurus (Richarlison, Tel) adds strength but also rigidity and emotional stubbornness. Aquarius (Gallagher, Bergvall) plays by system and idea, not emotion.

"Pisces in goal (Kinský) and Cancer in midfield (Bentancur) make the emotional tone of the spine very mood-sensitive. When confidence is high, this flows; when confidence drops, performance dissolves quickly.

“Leadership and impulse are also mismatched. Aries (van de Ven) and Leo (Spence) want direct action and authority, but they are surrounded by signs that question, feel, or intellectualise before acting. This creates a dynamic where the few who want to drive the game are buffered by teammates who want to process the game.

“Astrologically, this XI has technical quality and awareness, but lacks a unified competitive instinct. It’s a line-up built to play well when settled, not to fight well when the match turns chaotic, which is exactly the profile of a team that can look composed for long spells yet struggle badly when momentum, pressure, or emotion swings against them.”

Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a sports psychologist as the club continue to battle against relegation from the Premier League after a torrid campaign

Tottenham Hotspur are on the lookout for a new club psychologist to 'help heal the minds' of their mentally drained players.

Spurs have found themselves in an unlikely relegation battle, with Roberto De Zerbi's expensively-assembled side currently languishing in 18th in the Premier League, after the new boss replaced the sacked Thomas Frank. And they're taking drastic measures to try and avoid the drop to the Championship.

Xavi Simmons thought he had helped to steer them clear of the drop zone against Brighton, before a stoppage time equaliser from the Seagulls stole back two points and left the Lilywhites with only one. Spurs' players sank to the ground in despair, while Simmons looked on the verge of tears.

And now the club are on the lookout for a sports psychologist as they try to work on the mindset of their flops. In an advert, Spurs said: "Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is committed to building a world-class performance environment for our Men’s First Team.

"As part of this ambition, we are seeking an outstanding Performance Psychologist to join our Performance Team. This is a high-impact role embedded within the Men’s First Team environment at Hotspur Way.

“Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will lead the delivery of evidence-based psychological support to elite professional players.

"The role encompasses individual player support, systemic work across the coaching and performance staff, and the ongoing development of a psychologically informed performance culture throughout the team.

“This role demands a practitioner who is credible, discreet, and highly effective in a Premier League environment, capable of building trust with players and coaches while operating with the professional rigor expected at the highest level of the game.”

The same role has also been posted for their women's team.

Tottenham are back in action on Saturday against an already relegated Wolves side. Dropping more points could push Spurs towards an unthinkable relegation.

De Zerbi's side then face a journey to Aston Villa before they welcome Leeds United followed by clashes with Chelsea and Everton.

Cristian Romero leaves pitch crying as relegation-threatened Tottenham lose at Sunderland

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero was in tears as he left the pitch following a clash with team-mate Antonin Kinsky during Sunderland's victory over Spurs, with the match halted for eight minutes

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero left the Stadium of Light pitch in tears after a distressing clash with Antonin Kinsky that halted play for eight minutes.

Sunderland welcomed a beleaguered Spurs team to Wearside, with the match kicking off at 2pm. After a closely fought first half, the Black Cats broke the deadlock just over 15 minutes into the second - Nordi Mukiele sprinting towards the Lilywhites' box before letting fly from the edge of the area with force.

The Frenchman's strike took a significant deflection, wrong-footing Kinsky and ending up in the back of the net. Already trailing by a goal, things rapidly deteriorated for Spurs. Brian Brobbey pursued the ball deep into Kinsky's box, while Romero attempted to shield it from the Sunderland forward, reports the Mirror.

But the Argentine defender's knee appeared to clash with the head of the Spurs goalie as both fell to the turf writhing in pain. Medics rushed over to treat both players, Romero lying face down while Kinsky was on his back, with play suspended for around eight minutes.

Kinsky required heavy bandaging to his head, but he was fine to continue - positive news for new boss Roberto De Zerbi who is already without first choice stopper Guglielmo Vicario after hernia surgery.

But Romero - perhaps fearing that his World Cup 2026 dream this summer in the United States, Canada and Mexico might be affected - burst out crying. He hobbled off, replaced by Kevin Danso.

Eleven minutes were added on for those Spurs injuries at the end of the contest, but the visitors were unable to find an equaliser.

Italian coach De Zerbi took charge of Spurs after Igor Tudor was sacked following only 44 days in charge – but it was the same old story as Tottenham could not end a winless sequence in the Premier League which now stretches to 14 games, with none in 2026.

Roberto De Zerbi confirmed as Spurs boss and has seven games to save them from relegation

Roberto De Zerbi 'agrees to become Tottenham boss' with seven games to save club - Daily Star
Description

Tottenham have announced Roberto De Zerbi as the club's new manager with immediate effect.

Spurs have turned to the 46-year-old former Brighton boss to save them from a potentially disastrous relegation to the Championship. The north London outfit sit 17th in the table, just one point ahead of West Ham with seven games to go.

Following the sacking of Thomas Frank in February after just eight months in charge, former Juventus boss Igor Tudor was appointed on a short-term deal until the end of the season with the goal of steering Spurs away from the drop zone.

However, his time in charge could not have gone any worse with Tottenham dragged further into the scrap for survival after winning just one of his seven matches in charge - a second leg Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid, but they still exited the competition on aggregate.

Now, the Italian has been tasked with keeping Tottenham afloat. De Zerbi's appointment has now been confirmed after Spurs thrashed out a deal this week.

Speaking to club media, De Zerbi said: “I am delighted to be joining this fantastic football club, which is one of the biggest and most prestigious in the world.

“In all my discussions with the Club’s leadership, their ambition for the future has been clear – to build a team capable of reaching great achievements, and to do that playing a style of football that excites and inspires our supporters. I am here because I believe in that ambition and have signed a long-term contract to give everything to deliver it.

“Our short-term priority is to climb the Premier League table, which will be the complete focus until the final whistle of the last game of the season. I’m looking forward to getting out on the training pitch and working with these players to achieve that.”

It was reported that De Zerbi was initially only interested in taking charge of Spurs at the end of the season when their league situation was clear. Yet he has been convinced to take the job immediately.

De Zerbi left Ligue 1 giants Marseille after they were knocked out of the Champions League in the league phase before being hammered 5-0 by PSG.

The Italian's spell at Brighton also ended sourly after falling out with the board over recruitment strategy in May 2024.

Tottenham are not back in action until April 12 when they travel to Sunderland. De Zerbi's first home game at the helm will be against his former club Brighton the following weekend.

They then face bottom-placed Wolves away, a tricky test at home against Aston Villa who are chasing Champions League qualification, a trip to fellow relegation battlers Leeds, and then finally a tough London derby versus top four hopefuls Chelsea.

Now Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a new manager again, Daily Star Football takes a look at who may be next in line to replace Igor Tudor

Tottenham Hotspur are once again on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Igor Tudor. The Croatian took over earlier this year, stepping in after Thomas Frank's disappointing tenure.

However, Tudor's stint proved even less successful, leaving Spurs battling relegation with just seven matches remaining this season. With the international break temporarily halting Premier League action, club officials have some breathing space to ponder their next move.

Several candidates are reportedly under consideration, with both permanent and interim appointments on the table. But who might be the one to step into the hot seat? Daily Star Football examines a few potential contenders.

Roberto De Zerbi

JOIN US ON FB! Get all the best sports news and much more on our Facebook page

Former Brighton and Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi appears to be Tottenham's preferred choice for a long-term appointment. The Italian made a name for himself in the Premier League and continued his impressive work in France.

De Zerbi parted ways with Marseille only in February, so he is available to take up a new role. However, some fan groups have expressed reservations about him taking charge. Therefore, securing his services might prove trickier than initially anticipated.

Ryan Mason

If Spurs are keen on appointing someone who's been in the hot seat before, then Ryan Mason is their man. He took over following Jose Mourinho's dismissal in 2019 and guided Spurs to four victories from seven matches.

Mason was then given the reins again two years later. The former midfielder is currently without a club after a less than stellar spell with Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion.

Adi Hutter

Another European manager who has garnered attention is Austrian strategist Adi Hutter. The 56-year-old has made waves in recent seasons with his work at Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Monchengladbach and Monaco.

He's been jobless since October, having departed the latter after a little over two years at the helm. Reports suggest that Spurs have already held discussions with Hutter in the past few days.

Whether these talks intensify now that Tudor has exited remains to be seen, but Hutter is certainly a viable candidate.

Sean Dyche

Another name in the mix is ex-Burnley, Everton and Nottingham Forest gaffer Sean Dyche. Reports indicate that Spurs were open to bringing Dyche on board on an interim basis.

When recently quizzed about the role, he seemed to dismiss any chance of him taking up the position. However, this stance could potentially shift now that Tudor has officially departed.

Robbie Keane

Another familiar face to Spurs supporters, their ex-striker was rumoured to be making a comeback following Frank's dismissal. Keane is currently making waves with Hungarian heavyweights Ferencvaros, where he has clinched the league title.

Keane's football journey also includes a stint with Maccabi Tel Aviv, along with coaching roles at Leeds, Middlesbrough and the Republic of Ireland.

Arne Slot's shocking tactical decision as Liverpool sleepwalk into poor Spurs draw

Arne Slot's shocking tactical decision as Liverpool sleepwalk into poor Spurs draw - Daily Star
Description

Liverpool have dropped points to Tottenham Hotspur in a torrid performance that saw them sleepwalk into a draw against the relegation-battling side

Liverpool and Spurs tend to produce goals - and based off Tottenham's recent performances, there were a few fans predicating a cricket score.

However, it was the same old story for Liverpool this season, the Reds looked disjointed against a team that had seemingly resigned themselves to unthinkable relegation during the week.

Dominik Szoboszlai sent Liverpool ahead with a moment of magic, but it all came crumbling apart thanks to a ghost of Liverpool's past when former Evertonian Richarlison bundled the ball past Alisson in the final minutes of the game.

Liverpool look like a team without a clear style of play. They’re short of ideas, which made Arne Slot’s decision to hand youngster Rio Ngumoha his first Premier League start all the more intriguing.

Ngumoha proved to be a bright spark for Slot’s side, injecting creativity into a team that has been desperately searching for a catalyst. Comparisons will inevitably be drawn with Max Dowman, who so brilliantly inspired Arsenal’s success on Saturday.

The youngster was direct and fearless, never looking fazed as he took the game to the opposition. In truth, he was arguably Liverpool’s best player before being substituted in the second half.

The Reds are chasing Europe, and they should have put this poor Spurs team to the sword.

And yet they let Spurs make a game of it - it was end to end, when it should have been put to bed. Against better opposition, these sorts of performances will be punished.

If Liverpool are serious about securing European football next season, these are the games that must be finished early - not turned into nervy finales or drawn out battles.

The result for Slot is borderline inexcusable, and for Igor Tudor it is invaluable.

Liverpool had the chance to break into top four, leapfrogging Aston Villa who dropped points to the Reds age-old rivals Manchester United earlier on in the day. Instead, Slot's going back to the drawing board.

And the Reds are looking at potential season without Champions League football, 12 months after they were crowned as kings of England.
