Tottenham Hotspur turned to Thomas Frank as their head coach over the summer following their decision to part ways with Ange Postecoglou. Prior to his move, he caught the eye with fellow Premier League side Brentford. The Dane has spent the past few months adapting to his new surroundings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs are currently positioned in third place in the table behind Arsenal and Liverpool. They have 14 points on the board from their first seven fixtures. The London outfit won 2-1 away at Leeds United in their last outing before the international break.

Players who Tottenham Hotspur could sign in January

Spurs have the chance to bring in some new faces in the January transfer window. They are said to keen on Brentford midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk, according to report by TEAMtalk, along with Chelsea and Manchester United. The Bees are likely to face a battle to keep hold of him this winter.

Yarmolyuk, 21, is a player who Frank knows well already. He has been on the books of his current club since joining them back in 2022 from Dnipro. The Ukraine international, who has four caps to his name, has become a key player over recent times.

Joao Palhinha has been a hit since his loan switch from Bayern Munich. The former Fulham man has slotted in nicely into their team. He is expected to complete a permanent switch down the line.

Frank has hinted at a potential future move for Bodo/Glimt winger Jens Petter Hauge: “He was fantastic. I actually tried to sign him for Brentford a long time ago. It was good to see him again. I knew he was good and today he was exceptional.”

Spurs are also said to be interested in ex-Wolves man Ruben Neves, via TBR Football. He has been playing his football in Saudi Arabia for Al-Hilal but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him return to England. The Portugal international wouldn’t be a bad pick-up if they managed to get him through the entrance door.

Players who Tottenham Hotspur probably won’t sign in January

Spurs have been linked via a report in Spain with Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. The 33-year-old has been with Barcelona since 2014 after joining them from Borussia Mönchengladbach. It seems unlikely that Frank will bring in another goalkeeper halfway through a campaign having already got Guglielmo Vicario and Antonin Kinsky.

Harry Kane, who is never too far away from speculation of an eventual return to his former club, seems to be happy at Bayern Munich. He has told Sky Sports in an interview: "In terms of the Premier League, I don't know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back. Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn't say I would never go back.”

Dean Huijsen is said to have turned down Spurs this past summer. He joined Real Madrid from AFC Bournemouth and appears to have other options on the table. Frank may be a long time admirer of the defender but he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon after his La Liga switch.

It’s been a very solid start to the season for Tottenham, who are currently in third place in the Premier League having looked much more resolute under new boss Thomas Frank. Spurs got back to winning ways before going into the international break, beating Leeds United, and they will be hopeful of adding to it after the break.

Aston Villa await next weekend ahead of a Champions League trip to Monaco and a trip to Everton’s new stadium. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest surrounding the North London club.

Richarlison interest

Richarlison has been linked with a move away from Tottenham rather regularly over recent times, but he has become even more of a key player under Frank this season. Still, clubs are sniffing around the Brazilian, and according to Fabrizio Romano and ESPN, MLS side Orlando City are holding talks over a possible move next summer.

Romano posted on X: “Orlando City board presented their project to Richarlison for summer 2026 with mission to London to meet with his agents. MLS side led by director Ricardo Moreira spoke to Richarlison’s camp, as per ESPN — but he’s a key player for Spurs now.”

Suleiman links

Tottenham are said to be interestd in 19-year-old winger Sani Suleiman, who has been impressing for AS Trencin. The young Nigerian is said to have caught the eyes of Spurs at the recent under-20 World Cup.

TeamTalk report that Tottenham have already made enquiries, with Bayer Leverkusen and Rangers also said to be in the race. Suleiman has made 30 senior appearances for his current club to date, and as he returns to club action, it seems Tottenham will be watching closely.

Allen on Bissouma

Former Brentford boss turned pundit Martin Allen has been speaking about Yves Bissouma, who must prove himself to Frank as he prepares to return from injury after previously being dropped by the Spurs boss for being late.

“He’s got a lot to prove,” Allen told Tottenham news. “He is a good player, so we will see. Let’s hope his discipline can improve and his timekeeping for sure.

“I always felt that if you’re late off the pitch, and you can’t be bothered to make meetings and get in on time for training, then you’re going to be late on the pitch. And if you’re late on the pitch, it’s going to cost your team, it’s going to cost you goals, cost you points, and nobody wants that in their football club. So, he’s got a lot to do.”

Crystal Palace have been credited with transfer interest in Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison ahead of the January window.

The Eagles are flying high in the Premier League so far this season in sixth place with just one defeat. However, there is the feeling that Oliver Glasner’s squad are just a few injuries away from a crisis when it comes in strength in depth.

The south London outfit did snap up Yeremy, Jaydee Canvot and Borna Sosa but, with European football now in the calendar, Crystal Palace could have perhaps done with more troops through the door. Bringing in new faces in January could be vital in ensuring there is not a drop off in form over the back end of the campaign.

Crystal Palace linked with Tottenham Hotspur forward

One of those targets could be Richarlison, according to fresh reports from Brazil. BolaVIP claim that the Eagles are competing with Flamengo over a potential January transfer, valued between £20 - £25 million.

Those reports have also been carried by Tottenham Hotspur News suggesting that Thomas Frank’s side could look to cash in on the Brazilian to fund spending elsewhere, despite a fresh £100 million cash injection from owners. Former scout Bryan King told the site: “Without doubt (they should be doing business with Palace).

“If anybody comes in for Richarlison and offers that kind of money, then I’d bite their hands off if I were Spurs. I think it will be a case of taking whatever they can get for him. Because he hasn’t exactly set the world alight since he’s been at Tottenham. Across all the managers who have been there.”

Crystal Palace have Jean-Philippe Mateta leading the line with Eddie Nketiah being slowly eased back into action following a hamstring injury. Odsonne Edouard left Selhurst Park for Lens this summer.

Richarlison hailed ‘exceptional’ by Thomas Frank

Richarlison started the Frank era at Spurs in fine form with a brace on the opening day against Burnley. He has been in and out of the starting XI, also on target against Brighton, but there is the feeling he is still not viewed as a vital part of the project in north London.

The forward, who has 67 goals and 28 assists across 250 top flight appearances, has nonetheless received praise from his new manager. Speaking after that brace against Burnley, Frank said: “He was fantastic, to have a striker to take those two chances to help us win the game – he deserves all the praise. He was exceptional; his work rate, his drive, his link up play, his hold up play.”

Speaking about the squad at Crystal Palace in September, former striker turned pundit Chris Sutton gave his view on the issues Glasner could face. He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Crystal Palace's squad is too thin [to mount a title challenge], but you look at their starting XI and it is superb..

"Oliver Glasner did an interview I saw recently where he said there is too much onus on systems and not enough on habits. He was talking about his system, and he has his system, but he goes in, assesses the players that he has and then it is about getting the best out of that group.

"That is what he has done at Crystal Palace, and they are so good at what they do. We talk about them finishing high up in the table, which they may well do if they keep everybody fit and keep Guehi in January. That is where they lack, but if you compare them to say Manchester United at this moment in time - and there is a lot of talk about Ruben Amorim and his system - how many of those United players would get into this Crystal Palace team?"

Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham striker Jermain Defoe has fuelled rumours that he may return to Rangers in a coaching capacity following the sacking of Russell Martin last weekend.

The Glasgow giants have been at the centre of the football world’s talk over the international break having ended Martin’s turbulent tenure at Ibrox. Several candidates have been linked with replacing the former Southampton man but the frontrunner remains Steven Gerrard.

The 45-year-old spent three years in charge of Rangers between 2018 and 2021, winning the Scottish Premiership in his final season with the club. Gerrard is currently out of work having left Saudi side Al-Ettifaq by mutual consent in January.

Jermain Defoe sends Rangers managerial message

Defoe, who has managerial ambitions himself, appeared to have put himself in the shop window for Rangers. The ex talisman spent three years at Rangers between 2019 and 2022, initially as a player and then in a coaching capacity. When Gerrard left the club in November 2021, Defoe was named as part of a four-man caretaker team responsible for the side until a permanent appointment was made.

The 43-year-old’s desire to work as a manager has been well documented following his retirement from football in 2022. Defoe broke into first team football at West Ham and went on to enjoy three separate stints at Tottenham Hotspur.

He helped Spurs to win the League Cup in 2008 and was named Player of the Year for the North London side in 2004. He played 363 times for Spurs and 104 times for the Hammers, the two clubs he represented on the most occasions.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, when asked about the Rangers vacancy, Defoe said: “I’ve done all my coaching badges and if I got an opportunity to come back to that club to help this group of players then it would be a no-brainer. I said it from day one as soon as I retired. It’s well documented, the time I had there and winning arguably the most important league in the club’s history.

“Myself, Steven [Gerrard], and all the boys did that and it was amazing to be a part of it. It’s more than just a football club and I think I understood what it was about. I understood when you put on a Rangers shirt you have to win and the demands and the standards.”

Ex Spurs and West Ham makes cryptic social media posts

Since then, with Gerrard emerging as the frontrunner, teamTALK reported that Defoe could be appointed at Ibrox but in a coaching capacity to work under Gerrard. Gary McAllister was also named as a staff member that the Liverpool legend would want should he return.

Now, a series of social media posts by Defoe appear to hint at a readiness to return. The Premier League legend uploaded stories to his Instagram account, one showing a Rangers training jacket and another a jug, seemingly given to him as part of the title triumph he was involved in. The first of those images included the caption “WATP”, which is an acronym for “We Are The People”.

Tottenham Hotspur may feel hundreds of miles away from the drama currently unfolding at Rangers in Glasgow but the situation is of interest to the Premier League outfit.

The Scottish Premiership side endured an awful start to the season under Russell Martin, with the former Southampton man eventually sacked last weekend. Rangers sit eighth in the Scottish Premiership with just one league win to their name.

Rangers were also dumped out of the Champions League qualifying round and have been beaten in both of their opening Europa League match. A player involved in all of that is highly rated Tottenham Hotspur prospect Mikey Moore.

Tottenham Hotspur star struggling on loan at Rangers

The 18-year-old was part of Thomas Frank’s pre-season work having broken through under Ange Postecoglou but it was decided that the midfielder would gain experience away from Spurs this season. He joined Rangers on loan at the start of August.

Moore has made 10 appearances for Rangers but struggled to impress and hold down a sport in the starting XI. He was afforded a starting berth in the 1-1 draw at Falkirk at the weekend but received criticism for his outing.

Having been chosen ahead of Findlay Curtis, speaking after the match former Scotland striker Andy Walker told Go Radio: “I don’t see why you play Mikey Moore when you have got someone like Findlay Curtis. He is a young lad who had an eye for goal in the early part of the season.

“Mikey Moore is one of Tottenham’s reserves. He has maybe got a big reputation, but I couldn’t believe that he came out in the second half. I think his first half was awful. Every time the ball came to him, he lost it or he gave it away.”

Thomas Frank must look to recall Spurs youngster

It’s a messy situation and one that Spurs must act on. Moore is just a young talent and being exposed to the hostile environment at Rangers could well have a negative impact on his progress - it’s hardly a nurturing loan environment.

Joshua Barrie, editor of the Rangers Review, told The Standard: “It’s an impossible place to develop if Rangers aren’t winning. The environment is just so intense, it's hard to describe to people. In an ideal world he comes up here, he gets bedded in for the first month and starts to contribute.

“The issue is, because Rangers have been such a basket case, they’re relying on these guys to be the ones who lead them. That’s just too much for anyone, even if you are one of the most promising talents from England.”

That piece claims that Tottenham Hotspur do have the option to recall Mikey Moore and that must surely be activated sooner, rather than later. This is a player once, somewhat melodramatically, compared to Neymar. There is still a lot of learning to do, but it doesn’t seem to be happening at Rangers.

New Tottenham midfielder Joao Palhinha has been speaking about his tough transition at Bayern Munich and his new opportunity at Spurs. Palhinha joined Bayern Munich on a big-money deal from Fulham but saw little game time in Bavaria during a title-winning season, making 17 league appearances.

That led to a move to Tottenham this summer, with Palhinha joining on a loan move that sees Spurs also possess an option to buy. The midfielder has already made an impact, slotting in nicely alongside either Rodrigo Bentancur or Pape Matar Sarr.

And as he begins to feel comfortable in his new role, Palhinha has reflected on his spell at Bayern that saw him win a league title but spend far more time than he would have hoped on the bench.

“I was out of action longer than expected,” Palhinha told reporters during international duty. “After that, I didn’t get the chances at Bayern that – in my opinion – I deserved. That ended up affecting my minutes with the national team. I think it’s always easier when one is playing regularly for one’s club to get the same amount of minutes at a national team level.

“But these are phases. Our careers live in phases. Now I’m going through a happy phase in my life. A new club, a new project, in a league that isn’t new to me and that I’m enjoying again.”

He added: “At Tottenham, I had chances that I didn’t have before. I have full trust in the people who wanted me at the club — in this case, the coach. When we feel that confidence and that we are needed somewhere, then, in my opinion, we should be there. That decision was very easy for me.

“These opportunities give me a chance to show what I can do again. I’m really excited about this new challenge and I just want to enjoy the Premier League to the fullest.”

Frank’s praise for Palhinha

The midfielder actually slotted in at the back for a game in September, and he has done it since, too. Praising his versatility, Frank said after that game: “Joao’s been very good for us since he joined. He slotted into that centre-back role, played very well and scored a goal. I’m very pleased.”

Speaking about his midfield balance after the draw with Brighton recently, Frank said: “We would like to create a bit more, yes but actually after I took Rodri out, you could say it didn’t work because we lost the structure, so who knows? One thing is for sure, we need to do a little bit better in the second half.

“Of course I try to look into what is the best midfield. I think it is fair to say both Rodri and Joao have been very good for us so far this season and Lucas (Bergvall) has been fantastic, so you like to keep your players a little bit in flow.”

Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham striker Jermain Defoe has offered his services to Scottish Premiership side Rangers following the dismissal of manager Russell Martin.

The 39-year-old endured a turbulent spell in Glasgow, lasting just 17 games at the club and receiving his marching orders after a 1-1 draw at Falkirk on Sunday. Martin was given a police escort away from the stadium after fans tried to stop the team bus from leaving.

Martin faced huge criticism from Rangers supporters having taken until late September to record a first win of the Scottish Premiership season. The manager’s side were also thrashed 9-1 on aggregate by Club Brugge in the Champions League play-offs in August.

Rangers sack Russell Martin

Rangers now look for a new manager to try and make back lost ground in the Premiership. The club sits eighth in the division and trail league leaders Hearts by 11 points.

A Rangers statement read: "Russell and his staff have worked exceptionally hard throughout their time at the club. We thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future. Further updates from the club will follow in due course."

Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is a frontrunner to return to Ibrox with ex Everton and Burnley man Sean Dyche also linked. Defoe isn’t thought to be at the top of the list being considered by the club, but has admitted he would be very keen for the job.

Defoe spent three years at Rangers between 2019 and 2022, initially as a player and then in a coaching capacity. When Gerrard left the club in November 2021, Defoe was named as part of a four-man caretaker team responsible for the side until a permanent appointment was made.

Chelsea are reported to have joined Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the transfer race for highly rated Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk.

The 21-year-old already has 65 top flight appearances to his name and continues to go from strength to strength at the Gtech Community Stadium. The defensive midfielder has started every match so far this season for Brentford as his importance continues to grow.

Yarmolyuk was particularly impressive in the 3-1 win over Manchester United last month, picking up an assist for the Bees. That performance came amid reports of Red Devils interest in his service.

Chelsea enter Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United transfer race

In a fresh update TEAMtalk reaffirm interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, also naming Chelsea as a potential suitor. The Blues have a ‘world class’ defensive midfielder in Moises Caicedo but the club is known for its high turnover of players and Yarmolyuk could be a shrewd investment with his best years ahead.

Spurs had been linked with a transfer move for Yarmolyuk this summer after Thomas Frank arrived in north London. The former Brentford man was looking for more bite in midfield but eventually turned to bring in Bayern Munich man Joao Palhinha on loan.

It is expected that Palhinha’s stay at Tottenham Hotspur is extended next year after his bright start but that might not stop further investment in the centre of the park. The report claims that while Brentford are not actively looking to sell, a bid of around £30 million for the Ukrainian could see a transfer given the green light.

The midfielder only signed a new contract with Brentford this summer, committing his future to the club until 2031 with the London outfit holding the option of another 12 months. That puts Brentford in a strong negotiating position.

Thomas Frank on ‘fantastic’ Yarmolyuk

Speaking at the time the contract was announced, Frank said: “I’m so pleased. It’s another big success story for the B team. Neil MacFarlane and his team did a great job to get him ready for the first team.

“Now, he’s been in our first-team squad for two seasons where he’s had a good, natural development. Last year, he got minutes in more or less all the games; this year, he’s added another level. The good thing with Yehor is that he’s one of the best trainers. He trains hard and with good intensity - that’s the best way to get into the team.”

Frank has also praised Yarmolyuk’s ‘fantastic mindset’ in the past. The player himself reflected: “I am very happy to sign a new contract with the first team. It just gives me more energy to work even harder.

“I’ve really enjoyed the season, starting in the Premier League and making my senior Ukraine debut. I’m so proud of myself and just want to keep going. You always need to have something to improve. I want to improve everything in my game to take myself and the team to the next level.

“It’s very important for me [length of the deal]. I am so grateful to the club for this, and it gives me more confidence and enjoyment in playing football.”

Tottenham Hotspur starlet Yang Min-hyeok is starting to turn heads in the Championship as hype around the 19-year-old builds at an accelerated rate.

Spurs agreed a deal to sign the teenager from South Korean side Gangwon FC in July 2024 but the player only arrived in the UK last December. Yang was immediately shipped out on loan to QPR for the back end of the 2024/25 campaign.

The winger had just won the Young Player of the Year accolade for the K League and was tipped to have the potential to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Son Heung-min. In January, former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou played down talk about the youngster’s future but did admit that Son’s influence would be a great help.

Yang Min-hyeok impresses on loan at Portsmouth

He said: "He is still very young and has come in from the other side of the world where the level of competition is nowhere near what he is going to face here. We will just give him time to adapt. It helps that Sonny is here and kind of helps him around when he is at the club and outside the club. We are just trying to get him settled early and give him the chance to settle in. No real plan, we will just take it as it goes with him and see how he settles in."

Having now netted goals in back to back Championship games on loan at Portsmouth this season - and in some style too - Yang must keep Son front and centre of his mind. The excitement around the player is growing on social media and, having had to wait for his chance in the starting XI, the feeling is there is more to come.

At such a young age and with just 19 appearances in the UK, Yang must not get carried away. That’s exactly the parting message that Son gave his former Spurs colleague.

Son Heung-min’s parting message to Tottenham Hotspur starlet

Before leaving the club this summer, Son was asked what advice he would leave for Yang. He told Football.London: “I’m very happy to see young players come up and develop in Europe. I’m very proud to see Yang fight for a position in the squad. As for tips, I’d like to see Yang experience things on the field and not think too much or too hard. Just focus on what’s in front of him.”

Thankfully, Yang seems surrounded by Portsmouth coaching staff who are willing to take it steady and nurse his talent. Speaking after the winger scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough, Pompey boss Mousinho told the BBC: “It’s about a number of things. Patience first and foremost, recognising that Min-hyeok has been in the country for less than a year. He’s still learning the language and has been in Portsmouth for eight weeks.

“It’s a baptism of fire in the Championship. He had that expose with QPR but didn’t start three games on the spin. He’s improved in every single one of those games. I thought he was very impressive again today.”

Tottenham Hotspur picked up a fourth win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon, moving Thomas Frank’s side up to third in the top flight.

It’s been a strong start to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by Frank, who was backed with money to spend in the summer. Around £55 million of that went on bringing Mohammed Kudus to north London from West Ham.

The 25-year-old had endured a difficult campaign with an underwhelming Hammers side last term, managing just five goals and four assists. However, he was immediately a prominent part of Frank’s work in pre-season and has started every league fixture.

Wayne Rooney predicts big things for Tottenham Hotspur winger

Kudus picked up a brace of assists against Burnley and Brighton and finally got his first Spurs goal against Leeds United, in a match during which he also picked up an assist. It was an impressive performance and one that caught the eye of Manchester United and Premier League legend Wayne Rooney.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Rooney said: “I think he’s been a breath of fresh air, you look at the stats from the game, he’s first in everything, duels won, successful dribbles, shots, touches in the opposition box, sprints and he’s had a real impact for Tottenham this season.

“He’s got four assists this season, joint first in the Premier League; he’s by far had the most successful dribbles in the league. So, all that was missing was the goal. I think that goal today will push him on that next step. He’s been a real top signing.”

Mohammed Kudus shines against Leeds United

Tottenham Hotspur beat Premier League rivals to the signing of Kudus this summer with West Ham looking to cash in and fund their own spending. The Standard named Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all as rivals to sign Kudus.

Reacting to the Leeds United match, Kudus celebrated on finally finding the back of the net. He said: "It feels really good. Something I've been working on for the past month, to score my first goal and it will open doors for more to come.

“Sometimes it's not about winning the first ball, it's the reaction for the second ball and when I went inside, I just thought, 'shoot in the corner' and I'm so glad it went in.

“The game was less about tactics, it was about great determination and who wants it more because they were running and fighting for the ball. We knew that we had to match their intensity. That's what the game was about and I think every one of us was on top to get the win. I love it, however the opponents want to play, we will definitely match up to that."
