Tottenham Hotspur looked to be on the way of a major upset when Dominic Solanke scored after 12 minutes at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s side could not manage to be Premier League title party poopers with that lead lasting just four minutes before another capitulation. Arne Slot’s men went on to win that fixture 5-1.

Once again, the need for investment this summer was underlined with Spurs a long way away from competing with top Premier League sides. Amid a flurry of new transfer rumours, LondonWorld looks how Tottenham Hotspur could line up next season.

Tottenham Hotspur rekindle interest in £70 million Crystal Palace man

Goalkeeper - Guglielmo Vicario

Defenders - Djed Spence, Marc Guehi, Micky Van de Ven, Dennis Cirkin

Guglielmo Vicario will be hoping for a season without injury next term. The goalkeeping position seems one that Spurs are unlikely to splurge money on having recruited Antonin Kinsky in January.

There is set to be new blood in the back four. Cristian Romero is linked with a move to La Liga and wants to play in Spain. Fabrizio Romano claimed on Monday that Spurs could reignite interest in a £70 million move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who won’t be short of interest this summer. The club could look to recruit a new full-back depending on the futures of Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie. Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Sunderland man Dennis Cirkin, who could come in at left back and push Spence to the right - Graeme Bailey has claimed that Everton could challenge Spurs for that move.

Spurs set to beat West Ham to sign England international

Midfielders - James Maddison, Angel Gomes, Archie Gray

There’s no shortage of midfield options for Ange Postecoglou, or whoever is to be in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it’s just whether they can do the job. Archie Gray could finally be allowed to flourish in his more natural position with the best still to come from England international James Maddison.

Lille star Angel Gomes is out of contract at the end of the summer and seems to be Premier League bound. Graham Potter and West Ham want him at the London Stadium, but Spurs seem to be winning the race.

Jarrod Bowen targeted by Tottenham Hotspur

Wingers - Son Heung-min, Jarrod Bowen

Striker - Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Son Heung-min signed a new contract with the club in January and will be vital in helping to turn the side’s form around. CaughtOffside claim that Tottenham Hotspur could look to make an audacious move for Jarrod Bowen come the end of the season, bringing the clinical West Ham man across London.

Fichajes claim that another attacking option could be Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The injury-plagued talisman is out of contract at Goodison Park this summer and would do well to take the starting spot of Dominic Solanke, but stranger things have happened.

Aston Villa have ‘objected’ to a request from Tottenham Hotspur to move their upcoming Premier League meeting in May in order to aid the London outfit should they reach the final of the Europa League.

In a somewhat audacious request, given that Ange Postecoglou’s side have not yet beaten Bodo/Glimt in the upcoming semi-final, Spurs hoped to bring the match against Aston Villa forward to Thursday, May 15. The current date for the match is Sunday, May 18.

The Europa League final will take place in Bilbao on Wednesday, May 21. That is currently just three days after the meeting at Villa Park. In a statement released on Sunday, the club said: "We should like to inform supporters that we are in discussions with the Premier League regarding a change in date to our away Premier League match against Aston Villa, currently scheduled for Sunday, 18 May."

Aston Villa ‘object’ to Tottenham Hotspur request

BBC Sport now claims that Villa have ‘rebuffed’ the request with sources indicating that there is no precedent set for the Premier League to move matches to help clubs succeed in European competitions. The Midlands side has played every three to four days during April due to their involvement in the Champions League and the FA Cup.

Aston Villa are also said to have pointed to a number of pre-organised family activities already being in place for that would be the last home match of the season for the club.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou and Spurs are dealing with another potential Europa League blow with news that captain Son Heung-min may not be fit for the first leg against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday evening. The forward has missed the side’s last three matches due to a foot injury, sitting out of the win over Eintracht Frankfurt and then the Premier League defeats to Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

Ange Postecoglou provides Son Heung-min injury update

Speaking after the match at Anfield, which saw the hosts crowned Premier League Champions, Postecoglou said: "It’ll be touch and go for Thursday. He’ll try hard. If [he’s not ready] for the first game we think he’ll be ready for the second game.”

When provided an update on the specifics of Son’s injury earlier this month, Postecoglou had outlined that it was a persistent problem for the winger. He said: "He's been dealing with a foot problem for a while, so now is as good a time as any to give him the right time to to get over it. He'll definitely miss Monday.

"It's been something he's been dealing with for a little while and it got to the point where not only it wasn't improving, but it was deteriorating, and it's one of these things where rest is going to be as important as anything else with that kind of injury. So, we'll give him that time. Sonny is the kind of guy who always wants to train, so we'll put him on ice for the next few days and see how he responds to that."

Leeds United have booked a place in the Premier League next season with promotion from the Championship confirmed and signing a ‘stop striker’ will be a priority for the club this summer.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has a fresh round-up of how the Whites are set to approach the upcoming window as Daniel Farke prepares to solidify the club as a top flight side once again. Leeds United have been prolific in the Championship this term with 89 goals to their name, 25 more than second top scorers Middlesbrough as it stands.

Nonetheless, the club appears to know that its current strike force will need beefing up to survive in the higher division. Leeds United will be looking to avoid the fate of immediate relegation set to be imposed on all three of last year’s promoted sides Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claims that a new number nine is ‘likely to be right at the top of Farke’s shopping list’ with the Daily Mail outlining the the club will sign a ‘top striker’. Leeds United were linked with a move for Southampton man Cameron Archer in January and that is touted to be a ‘key point of focus come the summer’.

Leeds United eye swoop for West Ham striker

Meanwhile, West Ham striker Evan Ferguson is named as another target. The 20-year-old in on loan at the London Stadium from Brighton but has failed to impress with no goals in his seven appearances.

The Hammers do not hold an automatic option or obligation to buy Ferguson with the Irishman expected to return to Brighton. That form is unlikely to have pushed the forward into the thinking of Fabian Hurzeler and could open the door for a summer exit.

Speaking in February about a possible permanent move for Ferguson, Potter said: “I don’t think we should think like that. We should think about how we can help Evan enjoy his football, bring the quality that we know he has. Let’s just focus on that. Let’s focus on having the best 14 matches we can.

“Sometimes with young players we jump in too quickly. I think until you’ve made 50 appearances, it’s always a good number to go: ‘OK, now we can assess where things are.’ And if you’ve had some injuries it’s not easy.

“Sometimes in football if you’re hot, you’re hot and when you’re not, you’re not. We can go quickly from one extreme to another, which is silly because the player quality is still there. We had these conversations even when he was 17 at Brighton around: ‘Let’s not sign a centre-forward because we’ve got Evan coming through.’

“We had huge belief in him. But injuries can stop you and all of a sudden you haven’t played as much, you haven’t scored as much and then you’re not quite the same thing. But the quality is still there. It’s our job to get him on the pitch, help him enjoy his football.”

Tottenham Hotspur winger ‘expected’ summer transfer offers

Manor Solomon is also an obvious option for Leeds United. The Tottenham Hotspur man has spent the season on loan at Elland Road and, while Spurs are ‘expecting offers from elsewhere’, the Israeli international is said to be ‘keen to stay’ in Yorkshire.

Solomon has claimed a place as Farke’s first choice left winger with 20 goal contributions so far thanks to nine goals and 11 assists. The forward would offer the side European and international experience as they take on the Premier League and said to be ‘well-versed in Farke’s style of play and the unique pressures’ by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Something is rotten in the state of West Ham this season and Graham Potter must weed out those issues this summer, or else risk a similar fate to that of Julen Lopetegui after just eight months in charge at the London outfit.

Hammers striker Niclas Fullkrug blasted his teammates’ attitude after the 1-1 draw with relegated Southampton at the weekend and he was right to do so - it’s the first real moment the £27 million man has endeared himself to fans this season. The striker didn’t name any names, but it won’t take Sherlock Holmes to work out who he may have been referring to.

West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez was absent from the matchday squad at the London Stadium last weekend. This week, Claret & Hugh has reported that the Mexico international has now been told he is free to leave the club this summer after a ‘disagreement behind the scenes’.

Tottenham Hotspur linked with West Ham midfielder

The outlet quotes a ‘training ground source’ that said: “Something happened before the Southampton game, there was a disagreement—and I wouldn’t be surprised if he never played for West Ham again.”

At the same time, a social media post on X from Mexican journalist Kery Ruiz has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have had their ears pricked by the news and could make a move for the player. He wrote: “Edson Alvarez will not remain at West Ham United next season. The club has informed him that it can pursue options but is expecting offers above 35 million euros (£30m) to let him leave. There is interest from Monaco, Dortmund, and in recent days reports of Tottenham as well.”

West Ham forked out £32 million to sign Alvarez from Ajax in the summer of 2023 as David Moyes looked to plug the hole left by Declan Rice moving to Arsenal. Since then, Alvarez has been an important part of the first team squad and made 70 appearances for the side. Nonetheless, Potter should not be afraid to sell.

In fact, the Hammers manager should perhaps encourage interest from Spurs and do whatever he needs to do to increase the amount the club can sell the midfielder for. Reports of a training ground disagreement are a huge red flag and the kind of attitude that Potter must stamp out immediately if he is to steady the sinking ship he has taken over.

West Ham fans have already seen Vladimir Coufal throw his toys out the pram this season and that type of behaviour from first team players reeks of another dismal campaign next term. It’s not the first time supporters have had the right to be frustrated at Alvarez this season either.

Julen Lopetegui not helped by £32m man’s disciplinary record

With Lopetegui at the helm, the midfielder picked up two silly red cards that changed the result of huge matches for his side. Against Nottingham Forest in November, Alvarez was given his marching orders on the stroke of half time having picked up a second yellow, all but ending the Hammers’ chances of coming back from a 1-0 deficit.

The London side had been far from impressive in the game that far but still stood a chance of picking up points at the City Ground - Lucas Paqueta was just inches away from an equaliser moments before the red card. That dismissal left Lopetegui frustrated after the match and, even as he tried to hide his emotion, the anger was clear to hear.

He said: “We can and we have to do much better. You can prepare the team but the players have to take the right decisions and we have to play with eleven men. It's one of the situations we can avoid because there was no danger of this. We had a lot of players in our box.

“It is a big advantage for the opponent above all because there is a lot of time in front of you. You are losing the match so it was a bad moment for us and a very good moment for them because they wanted to damage us on the counter-attack."

An embarrassed Alvarez went straight down the tunnel after his sending off and he was right to be red-faced - there was no need for either yellow card. The first came for a tug on Murillo, who was on the verge of being dispossessed by Guido Rodriguez. The second was a result of taking out Anthony Elanga on the break in a hot-headed moment that saw him get nowhere near the ball.

Edson Alvarez enduring ‘torrid’ season at London Stadium

Alvarez also saw red in the Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool last September. In that match, Lopetegui's side were 3-1 down but had been enjoying a strong period of play following the introduction of Michail Antonio at Anfield. The Hammers had a couple of penalty shouts and should have pulled one back if Max Kilman could have sorted his feet out.

Alvarez's second yellow came for needlessly clattering into Mohammed Salah, who had already played the ball when contact was made. Speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher rightly slammed the midfielder for doing that.

He said: “West Ham are so close to getting a goal – and they probably deserve a goal in the second half. It’s a really stupid decision when you’re on a yellow card. There are two or three players around Mo Salah, it’s not on his own. It certainly wasn’t last-ditch. It takes the game away from West Ham now with them being down to 10 men.”

It’s been a torrid season for Alvarez, which is made all the more frustrating by the fact that there is a really talented defensive midfielder in there somewhere. A rebirth at Tottenham Hotspur would be good news for all involved.

In other news, West Ham could fund Premier League flop transfer by selling player who 'wants out'.

Tottenham are back in action on Sunday when they head to Anfield to face a Liverpool side that will be this season’s Premier League champions. There isn’t a great deal riding on this one, but Spurs need to avoid being on the wrong side of history, still seven points away from equalling their worst-ever points total - 44 points.

Ange Postecoglou will also want to see his men establish some momentum as they look to progress to the Europa League final and ultimately win the competition, currently at the semi-final stage, where they will face Bodo/Glimt over two legs, starting next Thursday.

Liverpool will want to finish the season in the same sort of form they have shown all season, and games between the Reds and Spurs do tend to be entertaining affairs.

Spurs have struggled with injuries all season, and their injury updates have been pretty lengthy for much of the campaign, but they are finally in a position where they have much of their squad available to play. Liverpool are in a similar scenario, and below you can see the only players who will miss - or indeed be at risk of missing - this fixture barring any fresh training issues, and we will get the latest from both managers across Thursday and Friday.

Joe Gomez - Out

Gomez is hoping to return until the end of the season, but he will miss this one. Slot has said: “Joe had surgery for his hamstring injury, so he's out for a long time. He will be back maybe just before the end of the season.”

Heung-min Son - Doubt

Postecoglou ruled Son out of Monday’s game, and he will be a doubt here.

Radu Dragusin - Out

Dragusin is out for the rest of the season and likely a chunk of next term with an ACL injury. Postecoglou confirmed at the time: “Radu underwent surgery today following his ACL injury. That procedure has now been completed, and the centre-back will now commence with his recovery before beginning the rehab process.”

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is sure to have ruffled some feathers in North London as new quotes emerge of the centre-back admitting he is ‘open’ to a transfer away from the club this summer.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months and Romero outright named La Liga as a potential preferred next destination in his career. The World Cup winner is under contract at Tottenham Hotspur until 2027, having signed a five year deal in 2022.

The Argentina international arrived at Spurs from Atalanta for around £42 million. Romero has gone on to make 121 appearances for the London outfit and has been a regular this season when not battling a hamstring injury.

Cristian Romero puts in 5/10 showing v Nottingham Forest

Romero played 45 minutes against Nottingham Forest on Monday night, coming off at half-time alongside Micky Van de Ven in a planned substitution from Ange Postecoglou ahead of facing Liverpool this weekend and the Europa League semi-final next week. Speaking about the sub, Postecoglou said: “I thought they needed to play some minutes because it becomes 10 days leading into Liverpool (on Sunday).

“With both of them, we’ve got them in a really good place physically now and I just want to keep them ticking over. I felt that there was no need to play more than 45 minutes today and we needed to get a couple of others game time.”

The centre-back was part of a dismal first half from Spurs, and endured an embarrassing moment alongside Van de Ven as Chris Wood ghosted in unmarked to score the second Forest goal.

LondonWorld rated the defender a 5/10 for his efforts and said: “Chris Wood made both the World Cup winner and Van de Ven look a league below as he nipped in easily to nod home a Nottingham Forest second. Did make one good tackle before being hooked at half time.”

Tottenham star ‘open to anything’ amid transfer talk

In the hours after the match, a quote shared with Argentine journalist Gastón Edul on his TV show 'Los Edu' started to circulate. Romero said: “I’d love to play La Liga. I’d love to, honestly. It depends on a lot of things. We’ll see after the [English] championship is over. The truth is, I haven’t spoken to my agent yet, but I’m open to anything. My goal is always to grow and go to new places to continue developing.

“Above all else, I try to take one day at a time. There are two months left until the end of the season and I’m always thinking about performing at my best. We’re in the Europa League semi-finals. It’s an important step for the club which hasn’t reached this stage for so many years. I’d like to win it.”

While the commitment to Europa League success is some good news for Tottenham Hotspur, Romero teasing a potential departure is less impressive at such a crunch time in the season. It’s not just Real Madrid linked with interest in the centre-back, with Atletico Madrid also believed to be monitoring a deal.

Providing an update on the transfer saga earlier this month, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport: "It’s a possibility but not something guaranteed as it depends on Daniel Levy, and we know how strong Spurs are in negotiations. So it’s something possible, definitely; but it has to be an important financial package or Levy won’t accept anything."

Leeds United and Burnley have booked a place in the Premier League next season with the top two of the Championship table confirmed for this season following the latest round of results on Easter Monday.

Daniel Farke’s side thrashed Stoke City 6-0 at Elland Road while Burnley got the better of promotion rivals Sheffield United with a 2-1 win at Turf Moor. The Whites and the Clarets will take the place of Southampton and Leicester City, with both sides already condemned to relegation following dismal top flight seasons.

Ipswich Town are set to join the Saints and Foxes with all three of last year’s promoted Championship sides headed straight back down to the second tier. The Tractor Boys must win all of their remaining games and overturn a 20-goal difference with 17th placed West Ham to stay up, with the Hammers needing just one point.

Why West Ham and Spurs benefit from Leeds United and Burnley promotion

The promoted and relegated sides once again points to an ever-growing chasm in quality between the Premier League and Championship with the same teams yo-yoing between divisions. However, the return of Leeds United and Burnley to the Premier League is good financial news for West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and rivals.

Leeds United were relegated from the Premier League in 2023 with Burnley going down last summer. Both clubs have received parachute payments from the Premier League and would have been due them for the 2025/26 season if promotion had not been achieved, as pointed out by LiverpoolWorld.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire claims that Leeds United and Burnley would have been in line for £51 million but that fee will now be divided equally between the current top flight teams. That means that West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and rivals will have £2.55 million added to their finances.

Maguire, a lecturer at the University of Liverpool, posted on X: “When Leicester & Southampton were relegated in 2022/23 and promoted the following season £102m in parachute payments were saved...these savings have been split between Premier League clubs. Should Burnley and Leeds be promoted today then a further £51m will be saved...this will also be divided between PL clubs.”

Maguire added: “Instead of receiving parachute payments of £35m and £16m next season Burnley and Leeds will both be picking up £110m plus in the Premier League. The parachute payments not being paid out will be divided by the 20 PL clubs.”

Sheffield United still in contention for Premier League promotion

Sheffield United still have a chance of promotion to the Premier League via the play-off spots and, should Chris Wilder’s side manage that, more savings will be on the way to current top flight sides. The Blades are guaranteed to finish third but have never tasted success in the play-offs, despite vying for promotion through that format nine times in the club’s history.

Reacting to his side’s possible promotion ahead of the Burnley result, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke said: "I normally celebrate with cake and coffee on the sofa because I'm at an age where I'm pretty tired after a game if I'm honest. If there is something major to celebrate, I'm not sure. If I have to back one side to go to Burnley and get a win it's Chris Wilder's boys. This league is crazy and I'm just willing to celebrate when it's just really done.

"This was a major step. If there's something to celebrate maybe today and one of the next days believe me I will be a fire beast, there will be some other drinks. Normally I like to speak about the next training session but I will be the first on the table."

In other news, West Ham stance on Portsmouth and Bristol City loans as Graham Potter plots rebuild.

Tottenham Hotspur recorded an 18th defeat of the Premier League season against Nottingham Forest in north London on Monday night, and it was no laughing matter for the club.

The visitors had the ball in the back of the net three times in the opening 16 minutes, Elliot Anderson scoring a deflected strike from the edge of the box and Chris Wood nodding home from a cross either side of a Wood strike disallowed for offside. It was, once again, a shambles from Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham Hotspur did pull one back late on from Richarlison but never truly deserved anything from the match. There was little potency in the box, especially in the first half, with Matz Sels greatest annoyance coming from one of his own goal kicks going astray rather than any headaches from Spurs moves before the break.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder risks laugh at latest Spurs error

Shortly before half time, the London outfit had their best chance. Richarlison, who had been painfully anonymous, finally made a run to get on the end of a Wilson Odobert cross but couldn’t convert a golden chance with his head.

The Brazilian was not helped by the unwanted presence of Pape Matar Sarr in the box. The 22-year-old was lingering in front of goal and got in the way of Richalison’s space, stopping the striker getting the contact he needed.

The two players ended up on sat on the turf after the coming together, helping one another up after a moment on the ground. In that second, Sarr managed a smile and chuckled at the farce of the situation. That moment should be enough to make Tottenham Hotspur fans’ blood boil.

Seconds prior to the Richarlison chance, Sarr had made a run through the Nottingham Forest defence but went far too early. As a result, he found himself offside but stood ball watching rather than making an effort to get back onside - even when the ball found its way into the feet of Odobert, who had been dangerous with his deliveries into the box so far in the match.

Pape Sarr reaction ‘sums up killer instinct’

If Sarr had been switched on and lively, he could have got himself back onside and out of the way of Richarlison, allowing the former Everton man to score. Not doing so was not, in fact, funny.

Looking to bounce back from a 4-2 defeat to Wolves in the league and build momentum for the Europa League semi-final, that Spurs goal could have been crucial. It would have changed the complexion of the Nottingham Forest game going into half time and lifted the stadium. “Is it me or Sarr smiling afterwards just sum up our lack of killer instinct,” one Spurs fan wrote on social media platform X.

While the clash between Sarr and Richarlison might have had an element of humour if Postecoglou’s men were 2-0 up themselves, how Sarr found a laugh in him is a mystery. It’s the type of laidback attitude that Spurs can stink of when conceding goals so easily, as they did against Forest.

With the midfielder having turned in an, at best, shoddy showing until that point anyway, he must surely be one of the first names for Postecoglou to axe from his Tottenham Hotspur starting XI.

In other news, this is how the Tottenham Hotspur players rated against Nottingham Forest with a ‘silly boy’ given a 3/10 for the home side.

Tottenham Hotspur jubilation in Europe was short lived over the Easter break as high-flying Nottingham Forest provided a humbling reminder of the ever-present issues in North London for Ange Postecoglou.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s impressive Forest side found themselves 2-0 up after just 16 minutes thanks to goals from Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood, with the hosts doing little to stop that happening. There was little toil from Postecoglou’s side in front of a frustrated Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but a late Richarlison header did make for a frantic injury time hunt for an equaliser.

Those efforts were all too late as Forest left the capital with all three points and a return to third place. Here’s how the Tottenham Hotspur players rated in the 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham Hotspur player ratings

GK - Guglielmo Vicario, 3

Not good. Got a hand on the Anderson shot, which indicates he probably should’ve stopped it despite the deflection. Then was a silly boy when flying out to try and punch the ball in before Wood headed home, leaving the goal open.

LB - Pedro Porro, 6

Did find himself in dangerous positions on the edge of the Nottingham Forest box but needed 75 minutes to get his deliveries warmed up. Eventually put one plum on Richarlison’s head, which was missed, before doing the same shortly after - which the Brazilian scored from.

CB - Cristian Romero, 5

Chris Wood made both the World Cup winner and Van de Ven look a league below as he nipped in easily to nod home a Nottingham Forest second. Did make one good tackle before being hooked at half time.

CB - Micky Van de Ven, 4

Looked stuck in mud for the Wood goal, the centre-back needs to be so much more alert than that. Taken off at the break as Postecoglou swapped out both his centre backs in a planned change.

RB - Djed Spence, 7

A constant threat when running forward, keeping Nicolas Dominguez guessing when he cut in. Just lacked the creative flair to make those bombarding runs lead to good Spurs chances.

CM - Rodrigo Bentancur, 6

The best of the midfield trio. Wily at times as he got in the way to break up some Forest moves and tried to get things going. Was skipped past so easily by Callum Hudson-Odoi in the second half, as the stadium sighed.

CM - Pape Sarr, 4

Found himself getting forwards more than usual, but doesn’t quite seem to have the skill set to play that sort of position. More needed from him.

CM - Dejan Kulusevski, 5

Could’ve been more lively on the edge of the box to pinch the loose ball before Elliot Anderson smashed it home. Generally sluggish at times compared to the Forest team but unlucky not to score with a brilliant flicked header in the second half, cleared off the line superbly by Harry Toffolo.

Spurs wingers Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert pack pace but no punch

LW - Mathys Tel, 6

Tenacious early on but saw his influence fade. Lashed a good opportunity well wide after a mistake from Neco Williams when he should have just calmly slotted in.

ST - Richarlison, 6

Felt hard done by at multiple moments when Nottingham Forest players grappled with his shirt but would have been better off just getting on with it. Did carry an aerial threat all game and eventually headed home, but that goal could have completed a hat-trick of headers. Needs to be available to receive the ball so much more.

RW - Wilson Odobert, 7

Looked the most likely to create an opening for Spurs with his deliveries into the box. At times, hit with too much pace, but will be frustrated not to have seen a teammate attack them - when Richarlison eventually did, Sarr got in his way.

SUB - Kevin Danso, 7

Had the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium groaning when he passed the ball to the ever-dangerous Anderson after 65 minutes. Was an improvement on the original centre-back pairing with some drive going forwards.

SUB - Ben Davies, 7

Caught unaware by Morgan Gibbs-White moments after coming on but wised up after that with some good challenges to stop dangerous Forest attacks.

SUB - Brennan Johnson, 6

A greater threat when out wide and delivering in than when looking to drive centrally and score himself. Did provide a small uplift when coming on.

SUB - Dominic Solanke, 5

Spurs were crying out for a target man to make himself available but Solanke struggled to be that outlet.

SUB - Lucas Bergvall, 5

A pretty anonymous cameo from the bench.

Tottenham are said to be interested in a player they could yet face on Monday night. Spurs are gearing up for a Premier League date with Champions League hopefuls Nottingham Forest, who have seen results go against them over the weekend.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are now outside of the top five having been in control of third spot for much of the season, but they are only goal difference behind Chelsea in fifth, while a win here will take them back into third place.

Spurs have very little to play for, but having booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals, still having a route to the Champions League, Ange Postecoglou will want to see his men keep up momentum, and not only that, but currently in 16th place, the North London side will be desperate to improve upon that position before all is said and done.

Asked ahead of this one about the challenge of maintaining motivation and producing wins in the Premier League, the Spurs boss said: “Yeah, look, it's fair to say it's been challenging. But I think part of that challenge is, obviously the rotations in the team. I think, to be fair, it's going to be similar Monday night, we're going to have to make five or six changes to the team, because we just want to make sure that everyone's sort of in the right space. But, you know, I think at the same time, we're obviously disappointed with the performance, not the performance against Wolves, but certain aspects of the Wolves game.

“And you know, we need to have the same levels of concentration and focus that we did on Thursday night, because there's no doubt Forest are tough opposition. They’re having a great season. They've got huge motivation to win on Monday night. And yeah, for us, as much as we understand that the league has been very, very disappointing, and Europa offers us a magnificent opportunity to achieve something special, I still think the best preparation for that is us to play well in the two games preceding it.”

Spurs linked with Forest man

Ahead of the game, Tottenham have been linked with a move for Forest full-back Ola Aina, who is actually a doubt for Monday night’s game. The 28-year-old, who actually has a Premier League winners’ medal from his days at Chelsea, has made 30 league appearances for Forest this season, proving to be a key player in what has been a superb season.

CaughtOffside report that Liverpool see Aina as a possible replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, or at least as a player to add depth to the position, while Tottenham are also credited with an interest to add competition to Pedro Porro. Crucially, Aina is out of contract at Forest this summer, but the East Midlands side are said to be in talks over a new deal.

Forest boss Santo said back in February: “I think so, things are going well. I am positive and confident everything is going to be solved. He’s been performing fantastically, not only this season, the last season. He’s a big, big influence on the squad, but his experience means he is a role model for everybody, especially for the young guys in the team.”
