Tottenham Hotspur are poised to name Thomas Frank as their new manager. They have picked the Brentford boss as the man they want to replace Ange Postecoglou. He has been in charge of the Bees since 2018 and has done an impressive job.

Spurs finished down in 17th place in the Premier League table this past season. They were able to win the Europa League though. The London outfit beat fellow top flight side Manchester United in the final in Bilbao.

Tottenham Hotspur eye move for Brentford ace Mikel Damsgaard

Spurs are ‘weighing up’ a move for Brentford attacking midfielder Mikel Damsgaard this summer, according to CaughtOffside. Frank could look to bring the Denmark international, who has 32 caps under his belt, to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with him. The report adds that Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham are also keen, as well as Napoli and Inter Milan.

Damsgaard, 24, joined the Bees back in 2022. He has since made 97 appearances in all competitions, 43 of which came in the last campaign, and he has scored three goals. His contract at the Brentford Community Stadium expires in 2030 meaning they are under no pressure to sell him just yet and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature.

If Frank joined Spurs, he would need to add some more quality to the squad. They struggled in the league and must bolster their ranks. They have the chance to bring in some new faces over the next couple of months.

Would Brentford’s Mikel Damsgaard suit Tottenham Hotspur?

Spurs could see Damsgaard as someone to bring in some quality. He would give them more competition and depth if he signed for them. In addition, he could offer them something different going forward.

The Jyllinge-born man joined his local team as a youngster before rising up through the academy ranks at Nordsjælland. He was a regular at various different youth levels before breaking into the first-team. Damsgaard went on to play 93 matches as a teenager and found the net on 13 occasions.

His emergence in the Danish Superliga resulted in Sampdoria moving for him in 2020. He then spent two years in Italy and scored two goals in 49 outings before Brentford came calling. He isn’t a regular goal scorer but creates chances for his teammates.

The Bees handed him a new deal back in January. Frank said at the time: “I am very happy that Mikkel has signed a new contract with us. This season, he is starting to show what we believed we’d get from him. We knew that wouldn’t happen straight away because of the time he was out before he came here, but it ended up being longer than expected - both for him and us.

“Mikkel was then unlucky with another injury but, after two years of relatively consistent training and a good environment - and with patience both ways - we are now seeing the fruit of the work. He has been one of our best players this season; we are very dangerous when he is playing. But there is more to come from Mikkel. It has been half a season, now he needs to perform for a full season. We need to add layers, but I am happy with what he is doing.”

Tottenham Hotspur are working towards appointing Thomas Frank as the club’s new manager following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, but it looks to be more than just the head coach moving across London from Brentford.

Postecoglou was sacked by Spurs last week with the Europa League triumph not enough for a dismal Premier League campaign to be forgiven. Several names had been linked with taking over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but it is now widely reported that it will be Frank who takes the hotseat.

The 51-year-old has cultivated a reputation as one of the best managers around over his seven years at Brentford. Only Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver have been in their positions longer.

Tottenham Hotspur in ‘complicated’ Thomas Frank talks

Frank has led Brentford from the Championship to the Premier League and cemented the club’s position in the top flight. He’s not done it alone with a well respected team of backroom staff that the manager and Spurs appear keen to have follow him to his new club.

In an update on talks with Frank earlier today, Sky Sports suggested that while Spurs want Frank and he wants them, the details around the move are proving complicated. An update read: “Further talks are expected to take place this morning between Tottenham and Brentford over Thomas Frank.

“The clubs discussed compensation yesterday and those negotiations will continue today, but the deal is not agreed yet. Talks are also involving a number of backroom staff that Frank wants to take with him to Spurs Those are understood to include Justin Cochrane, who is also part of England’s coaching staff under Thomas Tuchel.”

Spurs look to deal Brentford another ‘big blow’

Losing Cochrane would be a setback for Brentford with the 43-year-old an early frontrunner to take on the Brentford role permanently following Frank’s departure. Instead, Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna appears to be a leading candidate to take over at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Commenting on those links of Cochrane moving to Spurs alongside Frank, Hounslow Herald journalist Sam Tabuteau wrote: “Justin Cochrane under discussion to follow Frank to Tottenham. Has links to Spurs and would be considered a big blow for Brentford given his reputation.”

He added: “Understand Frank ideally wants Justin Cochrane, Claus Norgaard, Keith Andrews and Manu Sotelo to join him at Tottenham. He also wants Brentford’s fitness coach - Tom Perryman has been with the club since 2014, so would presume it’s him Frank is after.”

Tottenham Hotspur have already seen first team coach Ryan Mason leave the club this summer to take on the managerial role at West Brom, which leaves at least one vacancy in the dugout. Meanwhile, Frank has also now been touted to go knocking at his former club with widespread reports of interest in Bryan Mbeumo.

Spurs have also previously been linked with a move for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. Meanwhile, should Cristian Romero leave the club and complete a move to La Liga, Nathan Collins has been touted as a replacement by the Hounslow Herald.

In other news, Daniel Levy and Tottenham should give Thomas Frank 87-goal striker welcome gift - opinion.

Tottenham Hotspur could do with adding some more firepower to their ranks this summer. They finished down in 17th place in the Premier League table which ultimately cost Ange Postecoglou his job, despite their Europa League triumph. The London outfit beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final in Bilbao last month.

Spurs are in for a significant couple of months ahead of the next campaign. They have the chance to bolster their squad with some new faces over the next couple of months. Some current players could also head out the exit door to free up space and funds.

Tottenham Hotspur step up Antoine Semenyo pursuit

Spurs will ‘step up’ their interest in AFC Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo amid competition from Manchester United and Liverpool, according to Sky Sports. They are keen to lure the forward to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to inject more quality into their attacking department. It remains to be seen at this stage whether the Cherries will be able to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere.

Semenyo, 25, has been on the books of his current club since joining them back in 2023. He has since become one of their most prized assets and has scored 22 goals in 89 games in all competitions to date, 13 of which came last term. The player is also a Ghana international with 27 caps under his belt so far in his career.

The London-born man rose up through the academy ranks at Bristol City and was a regular for them at various different youth levels. He was loaned out away from Ashton Gate to Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland to get some experience under his belt. He then broke into the Robins’ first-team and went on to fire 21 goals in 125 outings before making the step up to the top flight when Bournemouth swooped in.

What is the latest regarding Tottenham Hotspur target Antoine Semenyo at AFC Bournemouth?

Semenyo was handed a new long-term contract by Bournemouth last year. That means they are under no financial pressure to sell him just yet. Spurs, Manchester United and Liverpool may need to fork out a hefty fee to try and get him.

After securing an extension 12 months ago, the Cherries’ chief executive Neill Blake said: “It has been clear for all to see the rate of Antoine’s development since joining 18 months ago. He has gone from strength to strength, and enjoyed an incredible first full season with us. Agreeing on a new long-term contract was important for us to recognise his contribution as a key member of our squad. We’re excited to see this continue for years to come.”

Semenyo has flourished under the guidance of Andoni Iraola. Regarding the influence of his manager, he said: “It’s a lot of running (style of play), I’d say that! But I think it’s worked really well. It has been tough. But it’s a benefit for all of us, being fitter. At least we can run longer in games and hopefully kill teams off. There’s loads of running. The running is crazy, but you just have to give your all.”

Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have a mini Deadline Day looming over them this evening with a new-look transfer market ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The expanded Club World Cup in the United States has led to date adjustments with the transfer window. The first mini window opened on June 1 and will close at 7 pm BST on Tuesday, June 10.

The early week of business was approved to help teams preparing for the Club World Cup to bring new players into their ranks. From the Premier League, that is just Chelsea and Manchester City, but all clubs have been able to conduct business over the past nine days.

FIFA rules demand that a transfer window cannot span any longer than 16 weeks, which is what has led to the unique split this year. The transfer window will reopen on Monday, June 16 when the Club World Cup has been underway for two days.

That means the biggest pressure to beat the deadline tonight is on Chelsea, with the London outfit’s owners known to be taking the Club World Cup very seriously. The Blues will need to wait until June 27 to register any new arrivals signed after the window opens again.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been named in plenty transfer rumours ahead of today’s deadline and LondonWorld looks at what each club are working on right now.

Chelsea in goalkeeper talks and look to improve £30m winger bid

Enzo Maresca has already seen the club move early in the transfer window to sign highly-rated Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. The 22-year-old, who bagged 12 Premier League goals last term, arrived at Stamford Bridge for £30 million and the striker will be available for the Club World Cup.

There appears to be two other deals that the club are looking to push through ahead of the deadline this evening. The first is a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Maresca is known not to be convinced by his first team goalkeeper options in west London and the French number one could be the answer to those problems. Chelsea have submitted a £15 million offer for the shot-stopper, who is in the final 12 months of his contract, but the Serie A giants are thought to want at least £25 million. The Athletic has reported that if a fee is not agreed imminently, the Blues could walk away from those talks.

Elsewhere, The Standard reports that Chelsea are in ‘ongoing talks’ with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Jamie Gittens. The Blues saw a £29.5 million opening bid rejected for the exciting 20-year-old and could have to pay almost double that fee. It has already been confirmed that Jadon Sancho will return to Manchester United and hinted that Noni Madueke is transfer listed, making the flanks a key area for recruitment.

Arsenal sweat over Zubimendi transfer as £70m Sesko deal under threat

Arsenal transfer talk on Deadline Day appears to be centred on Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The Spaniard has long been linked with a £51 million move to the Emirates Stadium and that transfer was set to be the first confirmed by new sporting director Andrea Berta.

However, reports on Tuesday claim that Real Madrid are serious contenders to sign Zubimendi and keep the player in La Liga. That is cause for concern at Arsenal but transfer specialist Guillem Balague wrote on social media platform X: “When Real Madrid come calling, all kinds of doubts normally happen even if a deal is very advanced (agreed and more) with another club.

“But let's say that Zubimendi, aware of the recent interest of Real Madrid, has not been affected at all by it. He is very very calm It sounds to me Arsenal have got the player fully wrapped up.”

The Gunners also remain in talks over a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. Arsenal need a new source of goals and that move could be put under time pressure today. Sky Sports are reporting that Al-Hilal are also interested in the £70 million rated bagsman, and are pushing to get a deal done today ahead of their involvement in the Club World Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur focus on Thomas Frank

Tottenham Hotspur also appear to be locked in negotiations on Deadline Day but, rather than a player transfer, the next deal the club agrees is set to be with Brentford manager Thomas Frank. That is not affected by the imminent deadline as Frank prepares to replace Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs transfer business will likely come later in the window when the Dane has got his affairs in order. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has speculated that part of the discussions with Frank have been over the club’s shopping list this summer but time will tell who is on the top of that.

In other news, Chelsea's next transfer after Mike Maignan in doubt as 'asking price' claim made.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank is set to join Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur as the north London club’s new manager following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou last week.

It’s a drop down the table for the Bees boss, with Brentford having finished seven placed above Spurs in 10th, but comes with the chance to manage in the Champions League. Postecoglou had been keen to stay in his role, teasing a third season during the club’s trophy parade last month, but that piece of silverware was not enough for Daniel Levy to forgive his club’s league woes.

Frank, who has been at Brentford since 2018, will end an impressive stay with the team. The 51-year-old has led the club to the Premier League and solidified their top flight status since debuting in the division four years ago.

Thomas Frank set to be appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager

In a fresh update on the managerial search on Monday afternoon, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote: “Thomas Frank and Spurs, matter of short time and formal steps… then he will sign in as new head coach.”

Postecoglou’s dismissal will come as a blow for the Aussie, who had been keen to highlight a shift of mentality at the club under his tenure that had led to the Europa League success. Incoming boss Frank has already shared his admiration for his predecessor.

Speaking ahead of the league meeting with Spurs in January, which Tottenham won 2-0 at the Gtech, Frank said: "We were also hit very hard by injuries last year so, from that perspective, I understand the situation Ange is in now at Tottenham. When results are also not going your way, that's tough. They're things we need to deal with as managers and I'm convinced that Ange is doing that well and he will get through it.

"He doesn't need advice, but he just needs to trust his own processes and trust what he believes in, which he does - that's the main thing. When we played Tottenham away earlier this season, we played a very, very good Tottenham team - I thought they were flying. When they hit their high level, they are very hard to play against.

"I expect a game between two teams that want to attack, so it could be open at times. We need to be the team that controls an open game, which is difficult."

Frank on ‘massive respect’ for Ange Postecolgou

Frank also referenced the club’s cup success at the time and predicted that Postecoglou may champion the side to lifting a trophy. He added: "I have massive respect for Ange. Speaking for myself, it is tough at times and feels like you're carrying everything on your shoulders. It is always my final call, it's the manager who stands there. That's why I can definitely put myself in his place. He's done very well to keep going and keep believing.

"Maybe, in one of his toughest moments, they will win a trophy, which will be massive for Tottenham. It could be one of those seasons where they suffer incredibly - and maybe they suffer even more - but they win a trophy."

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has hinted at a secret conversation had with Ange Postecoglou before the manager was sacked by the North London club last week.

The Aussie helped Spurs to a historic Europa League triumph last month and, despite speculation over his future, had outlined his desire to remain in the position. However, lifting that trophy was not enough to keep the club’s board pleased following a slump to 17th in the Premier League.

The Telegraph has reported that Tottenham Hotspur now face the threat of a ‘player revolt’ having sacked Postecoglou, who was well loved in the dressing room. The outlet added that chief football officer Scott Munn, who has also been sacked, was one of the manager’s biggest supporters.

Tottenham Hotspur face ‘player revolt’ after Ange Postecoglou sacking

The report claims that the incoming manager at Spurs will face a ‘huge task’ in repairing the bond with players who are disappointed to see Postecoglou leave. Several first team players have shared sad messages following the sacking, including club captain Son Heung-min.

The South Korea international wrote: “He [Postecoglou] won the trophy. Nobody did it, so …. look, it is not up to me or the players, but we just have to look at the facts, at the fact that we have not won in 17 years, today is the day we finally won it. It is the manager who wins the trophy. So we see what is going to happen.”

That has poured fuel onto the fire of a potential exit for Son amid interest from Saudi Arabia and now midfielder Bissouma has also written a message of his own. Shared on Sunday, the 28-year-old hinted at a secret conversation with Postecoglou, the nature of which could cast doubt over his future at the club.

Spurs midfielder hints at private Postecoglou conversation

Bissouma, who signed for Spurs for £30 million in 2022, made 44 appearances across all competitions last term. He wrote on Instagram: “Gaffer, I even don’t know where and how to start. I got a lot to say about how good you are as a human but I just wanna say thank you for everything from day one to the last one you did a lot in my life on and off the pitch I’ll never forget the energy you shared with us.

“Your mindset made us European champions and legends of this wonderful club. Today you leave like a great and it will remain forever engraved in the history of the club thank you for everything boss. and thank you to all the staff for everything you’ve done for me — on and off the pitch. You believed in me, pushed me, and helped me become better every day. I’ll always be grateful. Wishing you nothing but success in your next chapter. I’ll always remember the last conversation we had that’s changed a lot things [winking face] thanks.”

Bissouma, who played the full 90 minutes against Manchester United in the Europa League final, has another two years left on the four-year deal signed in 2022 when moving from Brighton. The Boy Hotspur last week claimed that the player’s agent Michael N’Cho had attracted ‘serious’ interest in the player from Wolves, Leeds United and Everton ahead of the summer with a £35 million fee touted.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to appoint Brentford manager Thomas Frank as their new head coach following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou last week.

The Aussie was dismissed after a dismal Premier League season which saw the club finish in a lowly 17th place. There was, of course, the small matter of Europa League triumph but that was not enough to keep Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a third campaign.

The manager had expressed his desire to continue his work at the club but Daniel Levy has chosen to start afresh. Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and Fulham manager Marco Silva had been touted as frontrunners but it now appears that it will be Brentford manager Thomas Frank who is appointed.

Fabrizio Romano provides Tottenham Hotspur update

In a fresh update on the managerial search on Monday afternoon, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote: “Thomas Frank and Spurs, matter of short time and formal steps… then he will sign in as new head coach.”

That comes after an earlier update from Romano that Frank is ‘keen’ on becoming the new Spurs head coach. He had added that Tottenham Hotspur were ‘aware’ of Frank’s preferences.

Frank has been at the Gtech Community Stadium since 2018 and is the second longest serving manager in the top flight, after Pep Guardiola. He is the third longest serving manager in the Premier League and EFL with Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver top of that table.

Frank achieved promotion to the Premier League with Brentford in 2021 via the play-offs and has gone on to help the Bees establish themselves as a top flight club. Brentford finished 10th in the Premier League last season, seven placed above Tottenham Hotspur.

Frank to Tottenham Hotspur considered a ‘done deal’

Spurs can, however, offer the coach the chance of managing in the Champions League, having booked a place in the tournament thanks to their Europa League triumph. Frank previously worked in the Denmark youth set-up and with Brondby in Denmark.

The Romano update comes after TalkSPORT’s Natalie Sawyer provided an update on the managerial search earlier today. She said: “Funnily enough, I have been doing a little bit of digging myself and after yesterday, I have accepted I am going to have to say goodbye. My sources have said yes, it’s pretty much a done deal. The issue now with Brentford is negotiating who else [backroom staff] can go with Thomas Frank. From my sources, who are close to those connected at the club it all comes down to who else from the backroom staff he can take.”

Brentford will, in turn, need to begin their own search for a new manager to replace the longstanding Frank. The early frontrunner for the post in west London is Justin Cochrane, who is currently an assistant under Frank at the Gtech Community Stadium. Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has also been mentioned following the Tractor Boys’ relegation to the Championship.

Tottenham are said to be ready to battle West Ham for a centre-back this summer, reportedly already working on their transfer plans despite not having a manager in place. Spurs do make some of their recruitment decisions above the manager, and many of the summer targets will already have been lined up ahead of the summer, although a new manager will get his say on incomings and outgoings.

Spurs need much more depth going into next season, especially being in the Champions League, and one of the positions they could do with bolstering is centre-back, a position that was starved in the wake of injuries last term.

Ben Davies has penned a new contract that keeps him around for another year, but Tottenham will likely sign a centre-back this summer, particularly with Cristian Romero’s future in doubt.

According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham are interested in a deal for Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti, who has been with the Italian side since 2022, making 80 league appearances. It’s claimed the Serie A side could sell the defender in the wake of Financial Fair Play issues. It’s claimed Juve would want around £29million to agree a sale.

That’s a fee Tottenham can afford, especially after qualifying for the Champions League, and Romero would go for much more than that if he does end up moving on. As for West Ham, that is a very big fee to pay in the absence of European football, but they are expected to strengthen at centre-back this summer.

Gatti on his time at Juventus

Speaking to Tuttosport last year about how he has adapted playing for a top club, Gatti said: “ I’ve gained personality, which is given by playing time, experience and errors. One reason I am grateful to Allegri is that he gave me the chance to grow. It’s hard when you go on the sidelines after an error, but he’s given me playing time and this allowed me to become a better footballer. It’s normal to grow at Juventus, I learn something new every day. I must still improve in the build-up.”

Asked what he can improve on, the centre-back added: “I get extra motivation when I hear the fans pushing. One thing I must work on, and I often speak with Allegri about it, is how to handle energy. I spend so much that sometimes I feel breathless for a few minutes. However, it is better to have too much power than nothing at all.

“I was lucky enough to play and score in the reverse fixture. I experience the derby adrenaline more during the week than during the match when I focus only on what I must do.”

Speaking to DAZN about making the step up to Juve, the defender said: “Of course, my life has changed, also because here you have to take care of every single detail, both on and off the pitch. At Juventus, you have to take care of every single moment of your day. At the beginning it takes some time, but with the trust that the coach, the club and my team-mates are giving me, I can only grow.”

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to significantly bolster their ranks this summer after a calamitous league campaign which saw the capital side finish in their lowest position since 1977.

The Lillywhites won 11, drew five and lost a staggering 22 games in the league last season while also crashing out in the fourth round of the FA Cup, but were able to offer supporters some respite in Europe by ending a long-standing 17-year-wait for a trophy by beating Manchester United in Bilbao in the Europa League final.

It meant Ange Postecoglou successfully fulfilled his bold promise of always winning a trophy in his second season, and although the football on offer was a far cry from what fans saw in his first season, he ensured supporters that in any TV show season three is always better than season two though he did allude to the uncertainty surrounding his long-term future by adding in a later interview: “I should have thought about it a bit more because as somebody rightly pointed out, sometimes they kill off the main character. I could be in strife there.”

The Australian’s fears have since been realised, with Spurs sacking the ex-Celtic boss on Friday night.

Spurs will need to make plenty of signings to try and make the club equipped for Europe’s top competition with a UEFA Super Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain on the horizon, along with a whole host of other challenging fixtures.

Plenty of big names have been linked with a move to the capital. With that in mind, we run through how Spurs could line up next season - if the rumours are to be believed.

Goalkeeper and defence

Guglielmo Vicario is poised to keep his place in between the posts as he looks to bounce back from an injury-hit second season. The Italian was signed by Postecoglou and played every game in his first campaign meaning he’s likely to remain first choice ahead of Antonín Kinský.

At right-back Pedro Porro, who claimed Postecoglou should have kept his job, is likely to keep his spot as he aims to continue progressing in his third season at the club and stake a claim for Spain’s World Cup squad in North America.

At centre-back Micky van de Ven is expected to remain a key player due to his ball-playing abilities and speed to thrive in a high line. But the same cannot be said for Christian Romero, who could be tempted by interest from Atletico Madrid.

This could lead to Tottenham signing a new central defender in the form of Inter Milan ace Yann Aurel Bisseck. The 24-year-old German racked up 46 appearances for the Champions League finalists but is the subject of interest from Spurs, according to Inter Web.

Elsewhere at left-back, it appears likely that Destiny Udogie will be the first choice, with Djed Spence providing competition from the subs bench.

Midfield and attack

Xavi Simons is understood to be a big name target for Tottenham as they look to add a fresh sense of creativity to the midfield. The RB Leipzig ace whose described as an ‘exceptional’ talent is understood to be a top target for the London side, according to TEAMtalk.

Elsewhere, in the deeper central role, Lucas Bergvall is expected to play an even bigger role after a strong breakout campaign, with the Swede potentially forming a partnership with Pape Matar Sarr.

In attack, Spurs are believed to be considering activating the £68m release clause of Crystal Palace hero Eberechi Eze. Football Insider understands Spurs could sell Heung Min-Son to raise funds for the deal, with the South Korean struggling to match his exceptionally high standards of recent years.

Club-record signing Dominic Solanke is expected to lead the line for another season. He impressed when playing for Spurs in the Europa League but only managed nine in the Premier League due to injury, which was 10 less than he got in his final season at Bournemouth.

Elsewhere, on the right side of attack, Dejan Kulusevski is expected to play in attack in what could potentially be a mouth-watering attacking side.

Tottenham have been handed a big boost in their bid to hire a new manager. Spurs are now hoping to lock in a new manager well in advance of pre-season beginning in just a few weeks’ time.

Daniel Levy decided to sack Ange Postecoglou on Friday, with the Australian paying the price for a hugely disappointing Premier League campaign despite winning the Europa League and delivering Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years.

Tottenham’s search for a new boss to replace Postecoglou appears to be a short one, with the early favourite emerging as the sole option. Brentford’s Thomas Frank quickly became the favourite, and Tottenham seem to have zeroed in on the Bees boss.

The one question was whether Frank wants the job given Brentford have just enjoyed an impressive season. The Dane has enjoyed a consistent spell with the West London side and is said to be very comfortable where he is, but it seems the promise of a step up and Champions League football will be enough to change his mind.

Fabrizio Romano has reported: “Tottenham are aware of Thomas Frank’s position: he wants the job and he’s keen on becoming new Spurs coach.” Spurs must now agree a fee with Brentford, who still have Frank under contract for another two years .

But it does look as though Frank’s appointment at Tottenham is becoming more likely, with likely second option, Fulham boss Marco Silva, looking still unexplored at this stage with Frank the clear first choice.

Frank’s style and appeal

Frank has been linked with Spurs in the past, and speaking back in 2023, former Spurs man Paul Robinson told Tottenham Hotspur News: “He’s done an excellent job at Brentford. He’s guaranteed them a top ten finish, he’s proven at Premier League level. I think it’s difficult for Tottenham at the moment. Julian Nagelsmann clearly wasn’t interested in the job. Pochettino has gone to Chelsea. I think the managerial appointment at Tottenham is going to be key.”

Speakng back in 2024 to Sky Sports, Frank spoke about how he uses statistics in his planning. "With Expected Goals and these kinds of stats, that is definitely something we can read into," he said. "Then there are the performances we look through with video, my eyes, the feeling and all sorts of other stats. With all that added together, there's definitely a feeling we could have got more out of the season - and that is without talking about the injuries.

"I think we have the shortest distance to goal when we take our shots out of all the teams in the Premier League, which I'm very pleased with because we like to have a focus on making the chance big if possible. We also rely on a lot of crosses or play balls in behind, which is the best way - in my opinion - to create chances. It says that we are very good at creating chances and it's hugely impressive that we keep being very good at that.

"One of the reasons why we maybe haven't got as many points as we should do is that too many of the chances we've been giving away are too high quality. That's a combination of us not defending well enough in certain situations and making some bad mistakes that we normally don't; I think we made three where we just passed it directly to the opponent.”

On his preferred style of play, he added: “There's no doubt I'd prefer to play a 4-3-3, but we've shown we can play a lot of different systems and I don't think there's one that's better than another, depending on the players.

"I probably still prefer to play 4-3-3, but we need to have the right players available to do it. A big part of the season, we were without our two best full-backs and without our two best wingers, so it's very difficult to go 4-3-3 as they are crucial to that system.”
