Tottenham Hotspur yesterday announced a major new sponsorship deal ahead of the upcoming campaign, and Alasdair Gold has great news about the agreement.

Spurs are in the money with new Kraken deal

The money just keeps on pouring in for Spurs of late, as their search for a new shirt sleeve sponsor has come to an end.

The club announced earlier yesterday that crypto brand, Kraken, will become the new sponsor on a three-year deal.

Now, discussing the deal, Alasdair Gold shared what he knows and revealed the new agreement will be far more lucrative than Tottenham’s previous collaboration with Cinch.

Gold tweeted: “Now confirmed as Kraken in a three-year deal which will bring in substantially more than the previous Cinch sleeve sponsorship.”

Kraken is taking over for the Men’s and Women’s shirts. They replace Cinch, the online car sales company, who had been Tottenham’s first-ever sleeve sponsor in a deal that began in 2021.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Three-year Kraken deal will bring in more money

Gold’s claim that Spurs will receive more money from this deal aligns with a previous report from Football.London earlier this month, which revealed the club were in ‘advanced negotiations’ on a ‘huge’ deal that would ‘dwarf’ the previous agreement with Cinch.

Spurs were paid £10m-per-year by Cinch before the company decided to trigger an early exit clause in their contract with the Lilywhites, as they look to scale back their sponsorship commitments across the board.

The finer details of the deal with Kraken are yet to be revealed, but every new and increased revenue stream Tottenham unearth only serves to strengthen their position in terms of Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t think the sponsor looks like that nice on the sleeves — it’s a little too large for my liking — and I’m not all that keen on the idea of crypto companies in general. But, at least it means more money for the club.

Report: Championship club are lining up a 'fresh bid' to sign Spurs 23

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sell a number of players this summer, and while the future of one academy graduate remains uncertain, one potential suitor is preparing to come in with a new offer.

Oliver Skipp set for a step down?

Oliver Skipp may have progressed from the academy to the first team at Spurs, but he might not be around for much longer as clubs begin to circle.

That’s according to a report from Planet Sport, who claim Leeds United are keen on acquiring the central midfielder to replace the outbound Glen Kamara this summer.

It is thought Leeds want to make a “fresh bid” for Skipp after receiving a fee of £8.4m for Kamara, which represented a “sizeable profit” for the Championship outfit.

Apparently, Skipp “was a part of those negotiations” that saw Archie Gray head in the other direction as Tottenham’s first signing of the summer, but Spurs were not “willing to consider an approach” at that time.

Leeds bagged Joe Rodon instead, but their manager, Daniel Farke, is thought to be keen to reunite with Skipp — a player he coached during a loan spell at Norwich.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is believed Spurs would need “to secure a replacement” before they consider letting Skipp go.

Falling down the pecking order

Despite showing plenty of promise in his early career, Skipp was essentially the fifth-choice central midfielder under Ange Postecoglou last season.

He racked up just 861 minutes of action in 24 appearances last term (Transfermarkt), equating to an average of 35 minutes per game.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m not sure Skipp would be all that keen on a drop to the Championship, and if he were to leave, I’m sure he could secure interest from Premier League clubs.

Whether Spurs actually want to let him go or not, given his homegrown status, is another matter entirely.

Report: 24 players who could feature for Spurs this evening against Hearts

Description

Tottenham Hotspur take on Scottish side Hearts in a friendly match today, their first proper game of the pre-season schedule. Here’s who will likely play in the game.

Spurs have a strong squad to use

According to a report from Football.London, Spurs fans can expect Ange Postecoglou to make use of a “strong squad” for the upcoming friendly.

After a convincing 7-2 win for Tottenham against League One side Cambridge United on Saturday, it is thought the “bulk of those players involved” in that game will again play a part in the clash with Hearts, barring any knocks that may have been picked up.

It is believed both Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall will feature again after donning the Spurs shirt for the first time against Cambridge. Fellow youngster, Mikey Moore, could also get more minutes under his belt.

First-team regulars like Pedro Porro, Brennan Johnson, Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Timo Werner, Oliver Skipp, and Yves Bissouma all played on Saturday and should feature prominently again this time.

Meanwhile, Alejo Veliz, Dane Scarlett, Ashley Phillips, Alfie Devine, Pape Matar Sarr, and Ben Davies are expected to play a part once more, and Manor Solomon could step up his return from injury.

MORE SPURS STORIES

There were a lot of young players involved against Cambridge, including Jamie Donley, Tyrese Hall, and George Abbott, and they could all be included in the squad once more.

Uncertain futures at Tottenham

Interestingly, Emerson Royal and Bryan Gil both played in the last game, despite speculation suggesting their Spurs careers are over. It remains to be seen whether they will continue to play.

Djed Spence and Sergio Reguilon are even less likely to get minutes. Neither of the full-backs were included in the squad against Cambridge, despite training with the first-team.

Destiny Udogie definitely won’t be playing on Wednesday as he continues his rehabilitation following surgery back in May.

Richarlison was spotted on the bench on Saturday but is not thought to have stepped onto the pitch. That could change for the visit to Scotland.

Players who have been on international duty — Radu Dragusin, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso, and Rodrigo Bentancur — have further time off to recover.

Spurs Web Opinion

It will be good to actually see this game and see what different combinations Postecoglou puts to use for the match. It should be a sterner test than Cambridge, too, so hopefully we get a positive result and performance.

Fabrizio Romano provides update on Spurs' interest in transfer target

Description

Tottenham Hotspur look set to have their sights set elsewhere in the transfer market this summer with one of their most-linked targets the subject of intense interest from other clubs.

Spurs have gone quiet in race for teenager

Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham have now ‘gone cold’ in their pursuit of Rennes winger Desire Doue.

The Sun reported earlier this week that Tottenham and Chelsea were both in the race to sign the talented 19-year-old.

Bayern Munich have already had a £30million bid immediately turned down by Rennes and are instead holding out for an eye-watering £52million.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also pushing to sign the versatile winger with Doue now in talks with both clubs over a potential switch this summer.

Doue established himself in the Rennes first team as a left winger last season, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 31 appearances in Ligue 1 (transfermarkt).

Tottenham could be set to miss out on Desire Doure

Romano said on The Debrief podcast on The Daily Briefing: “From what I heard, Tottenham have gone cold at the moment, so the situation is more focused on Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain.

“So, these are the two clubs really pushing to sign Desire Doue. Let’s see if some other club will try to join the race. So let’s keep it open until it’s done, because the player has not decided yet which club he wants to join.

“He’s speaking to both Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain at the moment. Different projects, different ideas, different vision of the managers.

“So they are taking their time on player’s side and player camp and player agent to decide all together.

“But for sure, the idea at the moment is to join one between Bayern and PSG. These two clubs are really pushing. And so they are the clear favourites to sign Desire Doue.”

SpursWeb Opinion

If Tottenham are not in talks and in the ballpark of spending close to £52million, which we all know is unlikely then this transfer is dead in the water.

Doue will certainly have had his head turned at the prospect of playing for the top club in his homeland or joining Vincent Kompany’s project in Munich where he would be guaranteed Champions League football year after year.

Former Netherlands manager says a Spurs transfer would be ideal for striker

Description

Former Netherlands manager Dick Advocaat has said that a move to Tottenham would be ideal for Memphis Depay to get his career back on track.

What next for Memphis Depay?

Depay’s career at club level has not delivered what it promised, with the forward struggling to meet expectations during his spells at Manchester United, Barcelona and now Atletico Madrid.

However, he has continued excelling in international football, having found the back of the net 46 times in 98 matches for the Oranje so far.

Spurs are thought to be on the lookout for a centre-forward this summer, with Ange Postecoglou alleged to be ‘obsessed’ with the idea of bringing a top-class number nine through the door (MSN).

Would Depay be a good signing for Spurs?

The likes of Brentford’s Ivan Toney (GiveMeSport), Lille’s Jonathan David (Football Insider) and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez (The Standard) have all been mooted as targets for the Lilywhites this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, Advocaat believes that Depay may be the right man to lead the line for Postecoglou’s side.

He said (via SoccerNews): “If Memphis just goes to a good club, and we’re not talking about Liverpool, then he’s just an excellent striker.”

When pressed on the specific club, he answered: “Spurs”

Spurs Web Opinion

Depay would work well in an Antonio Conte team which is reliant on the striker to hold the ball up and expects him to get on the end of crosses but the Dutchman does not appear to be a particularly good fit for a Postecoglou side.

Player spotted still wearing Spurs training gear two years after leaving the club

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Although Pierluigi Gollini hardly had a year to remember whilst in North London, it appears that he still sometimes trains in Spurs training kit during the off-season despite leaving over two years ago.

Gollini’s loan never became permanent

The Italian goalkeeper certainly had an eventful upbringing in football, being on the books of Manchester United for two years, yet hardly any Red Devils fans recall Gollini being at the club due to the then-teenager only featuring for United’s youth sides. (TransferMarkt)

Gollini returned to England two years after his exit from United, joining Aston Villa in 2016, only to be sent on loan to Atalanta in January despite twenty games for Villa in which he only conceded seventeen goals.

After a few seasons back in Italy with Atalanta, gaining some stability, Gollini signed for Tottenham on a deal that was stated by Spurs to be a loan with a view to making the agreement permanent. (Tottenham Hotspur)

Gollini posts himself in a Spurs training shirt on Instagram

Although Gollini only featured ten times for Tottenham, with all the starts being in cup competitions, the Italian has posted himself on Instagram training ahead of the upcoming season, in his 2021/22 Tottenham training gear, embellished with his previous number, 22, on it.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Pierluigi lifted the Serie A title only a year ago with Napoli due to Atalanta terminating the 29-year-old’s loan at Fiorentina, instead sending him to Naples halfway through the season.

Gollini will now return to Atalanta this summer with it being possible that the goalkeeper will make his first appearance for the Europa League winners in three years after three consecutive loans to Tottenham, Fiorentina and Napoli.

Spurs Web opinion

The situation of Gollini continued to baffle me. The loan to Tottenham made sense for the club, who needed a high-quality backup goalkeeper but didn’t want to fork out a transfer fee for a player who would only make a handful of appearances.

Gollini however has continued to play the role of second fiddle at three consecutive clubs now and at 29 he’s running out of chances to become a first-choice ‘keeper somewhere.

Although Gollini has been pictured training in his old Spurs top, I would conclude it’s almost impossible we see him back at Tottenham any time soon.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs target is about to make a decision on his future

Description

The summer transfer window has already seen Tottenham Hotspur linked with a number of incoming and exits.

One player who has frequently been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent weeks is Rennes winger Desire Doue.

Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has taken to social networking platform X to provide an update on his understanding of Doue’s future.

Romano has revealed that the versatile midfielder will decide his future in the coming days with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich the frontrunners for his signature.

Bayern and PSG are battling it to for Doue

PSG tabled their first offer for Doue yesterday, while Bayern have already had a bid turned down by Rennes and are planning to return to the negotiating table.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He wrote: “Désiré Doué will decide which club he prefers to join in the next days, it’s not decided yet.

“Paris Saint-Germain sent first proposal today and will push in talks again.

“Bayern first bid got rejected by Rennes but they’re planning to return and try again too.”

The Sun claimed earlier this week that both Tottenham and London rivals Chelsea are keen on landing the 19-year-old.

SpursWeb Opinion

Given PSG’s entry into the race and Bayern planning to try again after having their first bid of £30million immediately rejected, it would be hard to imagine Tottenham blowing the two European giants out of the water with a significantly higher bid.

It’s getting to the stage where we have to file this one under a ‘transfer which will never happen’.

linked gem could prove to be a headache

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans know from previous experience that the transfer window can be full of twists and turns when it comes to looking to bring in fresh blood to the playing squad.

Spurs face stiff competition in the race to sign Desire Doure

The North Londoners have already brought in Archie Gray from Leeds United in a deal worth around £25m to £30m with the 18-year-old being Tottenham’s only summer signing to date (Sky Sports).

Another highly-rated youngster who has been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent weeks is Desire Doue.

Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on the transfer activity surrounding the talented winger by revealing Paris Saint-Germain have now tabled a proposal to Rennes.

Fabrizio Romano provides update on PSG interest

PSG’s contact with their Ligue 1 counterparts comes on the back of Bayern Munich‘s failed initial offer to take the 19-year-old to the Bundesliga as part of new manager Vincent Kompany’s side.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Le Parisien reported last week that Bayern saw an opening offer of €35m (£29.4m), with bonuses included rejected out of hand by Rennes, who believe they could attract a club-record fee for the versatile midfielder.

Rennes have previously sold Jeremy Doku to Manchester City in a £55.5m deal last summer (Sky Sports).

Romano took to social networking platform X to reveal: “Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race for Désiré Doué with proposal to Rennes, as expected.

“Bayern are still there after opening bid rejected, both clubs keep insisting to sign the French gem.”

SpursWeb Opinion

With two European giants having now shown their hand with their interest in Desire Doue, it looks like it could be a difficult deal for Tottenham to look to complete.

Doue is now faced with the potential of remaining in his homeland to play for the biggest side in France or move to Bayern, who are Champions League regulars and usually serial winners aside from last season’s blip.

How Tottenham can compete both on this level and a financial level with the might of the two abovementioned clubs makes me think that they will have to move on to other targets.

Report: Tottenham are yet to receive a single bid for 28

Description

Latest reports suggest that Spurs are looking to sell a whole host of players this summer, with two names in particular that seem destined to exit being Emerson Royal and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, but the club are yet to receive an offer for the latter.

Unlike for Hojbjerg – Spurs have had an offer for Emerson

Fabrizio Romano indicated back in late May that the exit door at Tottenham would be wide open this summer, revealing that Emerson was among a number of players who have chances of leaving Spurs this summer.

As revealed by Alasdair Gold, AC Milan eventually sent a bid for Emerson Royal although it was only an offer of £8.4 million, which is just half of Tottenham’s asking price for the Brazilian.

The Athletic have released a new report however claiming that it’s not just Emerson who could be leaving soon. Danish international, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to be leaving Hotspur Way ahead of next season although Tottenham aren’t believed to have received an offer for the player yet.

Hojbjerg is one of many potential exits at Spurs

The ex-Southampton midfielder is now 28 and seemingly falling out of favour at Spurs, but the player doesn’t seem to be attracting any offers yet, despite Galatasaray’s vice-president announcing that the Dane is a target for the Turkish champions this summer. (Evening Standard)

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Athletic’s report detailed that Tottenham do still expect Emerson to depart but felt Milan’s opening offer was unacceptable, as the saga for the Brazilian continues to rumble on.

Another two names stated by The Athletic were Djed Spence and Sergio Reguilon who spent last season on loans away from the club.

It’s believed that the defensive duo are both also players that are likely to be sold this summer with Reguilon impressing in the latter stages of the season on loan with Thomas Frank’s Brentford, although The Bees can’t afford Reguilon’s wages, seemingly ruling them out of securing a permanent deal.

Spurs Web opinion

These latest reports at least provide hope that Tottenham will secure exits for many of these players in the near future and subsequently provide Postecoglou and the club with a freer wage bill as well as some transfer funds to play with.

Hojbjerg is a player I expect to leave for a decent fee due to his extensive experience in the Premier League as well as Bayern Munich.

The Dane served a purpose for Spurs when he first joined but last season conveyed that his slow pace of play and lack of progressivity means he doesn’t fit Postecoglou’s system and is right to be moved on.
