According to a report in Sky Sports (as relayed by TEAMtalk), Crystal Palace could now push ahead with an offer to sign Sporting Lisbon winger, Marcus Edwards, who has been linked with a potential return to Tottenham this summer.

Could Tottenham re-sign Marcus Edwards?

A number of outlets over the past couple of months have said that Spurs want to re-sign Edwards, who departed the club back in 2019 to move to Portugal.

This includes Football.London, who pointed out back in May that Tottenham may be able to sign the winger on a discount since they still have a 35 per cent sell-on clause.

Last week, A Bola revealed that Sporting have made it clear they are looking to sell the Englishman, with the Portuguese giants allegedly wanting around €25m-€30m for the attacker.

Palace could make a move for Marcus Edwards

Sky Sports have revealed that Palace have now identified Edwards as a potential replacement for Micheal Olise and could soon press ahead with a move for the former Tottenham man.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report claims that the 25-year-old is keen on returning to the Premier League this summer and that an offer of around £20m could be enough to clinch the deal.

It is pointed out that due to the sell-on clause that Spurs have, they would be owed around £7m if Edwards moves to Selhurst Park in a £20m deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham were serious about their pursuit of Edwards, they would have likely got the deal done or at least made significant progress on it by now.

The fact that their interest has not gone beyond the exploratory stage suggests that Ange has better options in mind, possibly Pedro Neto.

Report reveals what Tottenham man feels about Saudi move amidst interest

Sport Witness have now relayed what Sunday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport have said about Emerson Royal’s future, with both outlets suggesting that the right-back only has eyes for AC Milan.

Emerson Royal agrees personal terms with AC Milan

Gazzetta back up what we have already heard from various sources by claiming that Emerson has now agreed on personal terms with Milan.

According to the report, the right-back has agreed a salary of €2.5m a year after tax, which is the same as what he’s currently being paid at the Premier League side.

However, it is pointed out that the Rossoneri still have some work to do to strike a deal with Spurs, who have no intention of accepting €15m for the defender.

Emerson Royal has no interest in Saudi move

Corriere dello Sport also report something similar, stating that negotiations are continuing between Milan and Tottenham for Emerson.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Interestingly, the publication adds that even though the Brazil international is wanted by Saudi Arabian sides, he remains keen on moving to San Siro and is not particularly interested in the prospect of moving to the Middle East.

Therefore, it appears this one could be a waiting game as talks continue between Spurs and Milan.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like negotiations over Emerson have stood still for a couple of weeks, with neither Milan nor Spurs softening their stance.

Perhaps Tottenham are expecting another European club to enter the race and offer a bigger fee than Paulo Fonseca’s men for the right-back.

Manager admits club are in contract talks with alleged Spurs target

Southampton boss Russell Martin has revealed that the Saints are trying to tie down rumoured Tottenham target Kyle Walker-Peters to a new contract.

Tottenham have been linked with Kyle Walker-Peters

Although Tottenham have signed Archie Gray from Leeds, some reports indicate that the club are still on the lookout for another right-back to replace Emerson Royal, who is expected to leave the club.

This claim was most recently made by Ben Jacobs on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, where he insisted that Spurs view Gray as a midfielder and thus plan on signing another understudy to Pedro Porro.

One player who has been repeatedly linked with a move to N17 all summer is Walker-Peters, who left the Lilywhites for the South Coast back in 2020.

The England international has just a year left on his contract and according to HITC’s latest update, Tottenham are continuing to assess the possibility of re-signing him.

The report claims that Ange Postecoglou’s men value the 27-year-old’s attributes as well as his homegrown status and are thus prepared to battle West Ham for his services.

Southampton want to keep Kyle Walker-Peters

However, Maritn has now revealed that Southampton are working to extend the right-back’s contract and are hopeful of striking a deal with the player.

When asked about Walker-Peters’ future, the Saints boss told The Daily Echo: “Discussions are ongoing and they will be for a while. He had a great season.

“When a player is in the final year of their contract it’s a tricky scenario really. We will try to keep him, but then, ideally, nobody leaves the building for nothing at the end of the season.

“I never think it’s the best way when a player is in the last year of their contract. We had it with Stuey and Che last season, but they were amazing.

“They got better as the season went on. With Kyle, we are in that position. We will have to wait and see. I will keep my fingers crossed that he is still here.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be extremely surprised if Tottenham entered the market for another right-back this summer.

Ange would likely want to use the bulk of his summer transfer budget on a midfielder, a striker and another top-class winger.

David Moyes picks out Spurs man as one of the best players at the Euros

David Moyes has named Radu Dragusin among a list of the best central defenders on show at the 2024 European Championships.

Radu Dragusin was a shining light for Romania

Romania were not even fancied to get out of their group before the tournament but they surprised many by finishing on top of Group E on goal difference.

Dragusin was one of their standout players during the group stages, with the centre-back leading from the front and delivering commanding displays at the back.

He came to his side’s rescue time and again, pulling off crucial tackles and blocks to prevent the opposition players from getting shots away.

However, in the end, the round of 16 clash against the Netherlands proved a step too far for Romania, who were beaten 3-0 by the Dutch.

Despite the heavy loss, the Tottenham man received plenty of praise from various pundits for his showing, with Danny Murphy describing his performances as ‘outstanding’ (BBC Sport).

MORE SPURS STORIES

David Moyes is a fan of Radu Dragusin

Moyes has now also named Dragusin among his list of the best-performing centre-halves in the tournament.

The former West Ham boss wrote in The Times: “At a European Championship where there has been some fantastic defending and great performances from centre halves, John [Stones] has still stood out — just like he has for England at previous tournaments. He is well in contention to be named in the team of the tournament.

“There is quite some competition: the outstanding William Saliba of France, the impressive Manuel Akanji of Switzerland and others including Radu Dragusin (Romania), Aymeric Laporte and Robin Le Normand (both Spain), Riccardo Calafiori (Italy) and Ruben Dias (Portugal). Plus Pepe, whose performances at the age of 41 have been nothing short of incredible.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Most of the names that Moyes mentions are players whose teams went relatively far in the tournament.

For Dragusin to get a mention despite Romania being knocked out at the pre-quarterfinal stage shows the kind of impact he had in those four matches.

CaughtOffside report that Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov and Fenerbahce star Sebastian Szymanski are both on Tottenham’s radar as the North London club looks to replace Giovani Lo Celso.

Tottenham want a new attacking midfielder

The report backs up what we have heard from various sources over recent months by revealing that Lo Celso is on his way out of Hotspur Way.

The Argentine is said to be of interest to both Valencia and Real Betis, with Spurs now ready to listen to offers for the player.

The Lilywhites are now thought to be on the lookout for a replacement for the 28-year-old, with Sudakov and Szymanski both alleged to be high on their list.

Spurs like Sudakov and Szymanski

The outlet reveals that while the Ukrainian has been a target for Tottenham for a while, the Poland international was scouted extensively by Ange Postecoglou’s men recently, with the 25-year-old said to be available for a fee of around €25m-€30m.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it is explained that a deal for either player will not be easy to pull off as Fenerbahce are not keen to sell Szymanski while Shakhtar have a reputation for being tough negotiators.

Finally, the publication adds that Spurs would need to sell some players before they are able to buy and would thus first have to offload Lo Celso before pressing ahead with a move for an attacking midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Ange is indeed planning on replacing Lo Celso with a low-cost squad option like this report suggests, that is perhaps evidence that the Tottenham boss views Eberechi Eze as an option for the number eight role rather than the number ten position.

Either way, it appears Spurs need to sell Lo Celso before they can make a move for their first-choice.

L’Equipe report that Tottenham Hotspur could soon press ahead with a move for Rennes starlet Desire Doue after seeing the Ligue 1 club turn down Bayern Munich’s bid for the midfielder.

Tottenham are in the race for Desire Doue

Even though Doue has only had one season of regular first-team football under his belt, the youngster has already won admirers across Europe, with the race for the 19-year-old’s signature now heating up.

In fact, The Sun claimed last week that Spurs and Chelsea are keen to finalise a deal to sign the attacking midfielder swiftly while Manchester United are also hot on the youngster’s trail.

Meanwhile, journalist Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport a couple of days ago that both Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on landing the teenager.

Bayern Munich’s failed move for Desire Doue

According to L’Equipe’s latest update, it is Bayern who have made the first move for the France Under-21 international, having launched an offer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it is revealed that the Bavarian side submitted a bid of around £31m, which was swiftly sent back by Rennes.

The report adds that the Bundesliga giants’ failed offer could spark the likes of Spurs, PSG and Chelsea into action over the coming days.

Spurs Web Opinion

One gets the feeling that Tottenham have identified Doue as a backup to Eze, who remains Ange’s number one priority.

Unless Spurs feel they are going to miss out on the Palace star, they are unlikely to launch a bid for the Frenchman.

How Spurs could still get a fee from Everton for Dele Alli

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that even though Tottenham have agreed to forgo a bonus if Dele signs a new contract with Everton, the North London club could still receive a payment in the future if the midfielder fulfils certain objectives at Goodison Park.

What is happening with Dele Alli?

Dele is currently out of contract and it was explained by The Liverpool Echo reporter Joe Thomas last week on the The Royal Blue Mersey YouTube channel that Everton would owe compensation to Tottenham if the player signs a new deal.

The journalist revealed that the clause was the reason why the Toffees were hesitating to offer the former Spurs man a contract.

However, The Daily Mail revealed on Saturday that following talks between the two clubs, the London club surrendered the previously agreed bonus for Dele, thus meaning that Everton are free to tie the player down to a new deal without needing to make any payment to Tottenham.

Spurs could receive a fee for Dele Alli

Gold has now explained that while Spurs may not receive any money now, they would be owed compensation in the future if Dele meets certain criteria, as per the new agreement between the two clubs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist also asserted that the Lilywhites have a sell-on clause for the 28-year-old, who is expected to be given a chance to impress by Sean Dyche during pre-season.

It remains to be seen whether he can break into Everton’s plans for the upcoming campaign.

Spurs Web Opinion

This sort of agreement makes sense for Spurs and for Dele as it allows the player to sign a new deal and get on with his career at Everton, while also ensuring that Tottenham can benefit financially if he rediscovers some of his old mojo.

I think every single Spurs fan just wants to see Dele back at his best and smiling.

Report: Ange Postecoglou used Spurs player in a completely new role this week

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Jamie Donley played in Tottenham’s backline in their behind-closed-doors friendly against Cambridge United on Saturday.

Tottenham thrashed Cambridge in behind-closed-door game

Tottenham emerged 7-2 winners in the game, which took place at Hotspur Way, with Brennan Johnson netting a hat-trick and Son Heung-min scoring twice.

Ange Postecoglou is currently without a few of his first-choice defenders, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin yet to arrive for pre-season.

The Tottenham head coach does have Destiny Udogie at his disposal but Gold has revealed that he experimented with Donley at left-back for part of the encounter.

Jamie Donley played at left-back for Spurs

The journalist stated that the attacking midfielder did a ‘fine job’ in the role despite having never played that position before.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Donley will hope to catch the eye of Postecoglou and the coaching staff in pre-season and stake a claim for a first-team spot.

However, the 19-year-old is thought to be a wanted man across the EFL, with the likes of Oxford United, Luton Town Birmingham City, Briston City and Bristol Rovers thought to have expressed an interest in signing the teenager on loan (Football.London).

Spurs Web Opinion

We should not read too much into Ange’s decision to use Donley at left-back.

With Ben Davies having to play in central defence, the Australian might have not had any other option to split the minutes with Udogie.

Report: Nottingham Forest submit bid to jump ahead of Spurs in race for defender

Description

According to Sunday’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Nottingham Forest have jumped the queue ahead of Tottenham to land Nikola Milenkovic, having now submitted an offer for the centre-back.

Nikola Milenkovic is a popular target this summer

Milenkovic has been an extremely consistent and reliable performer for Fiorentina over many years and despite being linked with big moves in almost every transfer window, nothing has materialised so far.

That might be about to change this summer, with TBR Football reporting last month that several Premier League sides, including Spurs, have shown interest in signing the versatile defender.

It now appears that Nottingham Forest have jumped to the front of the queue.

Forest make the first move for Milenkovic

This information has now been backed up by Corriere dello Sport, who say that Tottenham, Forest, Aston Villa, and Fulham are all keen on securing Milenkovic.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is Nuno Espirito Santo’s men who have allegedly made the first move, with the club said to have now submitted an ‘important offer’ for the Serbia international.

The report adds that La Viola are minded to accept the bid as they are keen to trim their wage bill, with the 26-year-old currently being the highest earner on their books.

Spurs Web Opinion

Milenkovic can play at centre-back and right-back, thus potentially being a useful squad player for Ange Postecoglou.

However, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that Tottenham have shown a serious interest in the Fiorentina star this summer.

Fabrizio Romano says two Premier League stars are 'confirmed targets' for Spurs

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on Playback that Tottenham are continuing to plot moves for both Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze.

Tottenham want another attacker this summer

We are now just a little over a month away from the start of the new season, with Tottenham travelling to the King Power Stadium for their Premier League season opener on August 19.

Ange Postecoglou will be keen to add more quality to his squad over the coming weeks, and according to Romano, some big moves are still on the cards for the Lilywhites.

He says that Tottenham are still plotting moves for Eze and Neto, remarking that the Wolves and Palace stars are ‘confirmed targets’ for the North London club.

Spurs want Eberechi Eze or Pedro Neto

The journalist explained that Tottenham are now having ‘internal conversations’ on how much they wish to spend to reinforce those areas, with the Lilywhites expected to sign at least one more offensive player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This report comes just a couple of days after Football Insider reported that Palace are determined to ward off interest in Eze and hang on to their star man.

Eze will return to England in the coming days now that the European Championships are over.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is unclear if Romano is saying Spurs could pursue both Eze and Neto or if they will have to decide between the two.

I personally think that Ange views the Eagles star as an option for the number eight and number ten roles rather than for the wide births.
