Report: Spurs want to sign player by next week with negotiations ‘ongoing’ - The Spurs Web
Description

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur want to swiftly complete a deal for Rennes starlet Desire Doue but the North London club are facing the prospect of a bidding war with Chelsea and Manchester United.

Tottenham are keen on signing Desire Doue

A lot of outlets over the last couple of weeks have talked up Spurs’ interest in Doue and the latest report from The Sun suggests that the Lilywhites are in a hurry to get the deal done.

The report claims that both Tottenham and Chelsea are looking to sign the 19-year-old ‘immediately’ and they could be embroiled in a bidding war for the player.

The teenager has reported been identified as a ‘top priority’ by Spurs, with the negotiations between the club and the youngster’s entourage now said to be ‘ongoing’.

Spurs want second signing of the summer by next week

In fact, the outlet asserts that both London rivals are quite keen on securing the Frenchman and want a deal sealed by next week.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ange Postecoglou is thought to be one driving Tottenham’s interest in Doue, with the Australian said to be a big fan of the attacking midfielder.

Finally, the report adds that Man Utd are also ‘hot’ on the Rennes star and are continuing to follow the developments over his future closely.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like Tottenham are among the clubs at the front of the queue for Doue but the Lilywhites face a major challenge to get the deal over the line.

If Ange has insisted on the youngster, one would expect Levy and co to push the boat out to sign the French starlet.

Report: Teddy Sheringham names the striker he would 'love' to see Spurs sign

Report: Teddy Sheringham names the striker he would ‘love’ to see Spurs sign - The Spurs Web
Description

Former Spurs and Manchester United striker, Teddy Sheringham has become the latest pundit to implore Tottenham to go after Brentford’s Ivan Toney this summer.

Toney’s future is yet to be decided

Teddy Sheringham has become the next former Spurs star to suggest that Ivan Toney would be a great summer signing for Tottenham.

Louis Saha told Gambling Zone a matter of days ago that ‘Toney to Tottenham makes perfect sense’, encouraging the club to chase the Englishman who netted twenty goals in the Premier League back in 2022/23. (TransferMarkt)

Toney made it clear in an interview with TNT Sports that he desires a move to a top club with his current manager, Thomas Frank, even admitting ‘It’s no secret that there’s lots of rumours about Ivan. If he is leaving– and I’d still like to keep him [Toney], he’s a top player – this time we are prepared and brought in Igor Thiago’. (Standard)

Sheringham suggests Toney is exactly what Spurs need

Teddy Sheringham, who played 268 games for Tottenham, recording 117 goals in that time, has been speaking to Online Poker about what Postecoglou’s Spurs need to progress next season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Sheringham said: “I’d love to see Spurs make a move for Ivan Toney.

“They still haven’t replaced Harry Kane in my opinion. Heung-min Son is a good player, but he isn’t a striker – they need leaders in that team who can pick others up when the going gets tough.

“Toney would be a great acquisition, especially after that performance against Slovakia for England. He came on and led the line and got them back into the game.

“He’s a proper old-fashioned centre forward that can score a goal and bring other players into the game, and he looks like just what Spurs need after losing Kane.”

Sky Sports reported in early July that it’s believed Brentford will demand around £60 million for Toney, which will slightly supersede what Tottenham paid for Richarlison two years ago.

However, the 28-year-old’s contract with The Bees expires in a year and could lead to a cheaper price towards the end of the window.

Spurs Web Opinion

As Sheringham concluded, Toney is an old-fashioned striker that in my opinion would offer a lot of what Tottenham have been missing last season.

Son being shoehorned into the striker position only hampered the team and the club can’t solely rely on Richarlison.

The asking price of £60 million is also likely a little over Toney’s current value when you consider the player’s age and dwindling contract, it may be a deal that Spurs decide to hold their nerve over in hopes of a discounted deal towards the end of the window.

As mentioned before however, Postecoglou would need to be completely convinced that the striker wants to be at Spurs with his comments over leaving Brentford previously causing controversy and not being aligned with Posetcoglou’s philosophy so far of having a squad of committed players with immaculate attitude.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Spurs are in a three-way battle for £50m-rated attacker - The Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a battle with two unnamed clubs for Rennes star Desire Doue this summer.

Tottenham have been linked with Desire Doue

The race for Doue’s signature seems to be heating up, with the 19-year-old French starlet now widely being backed to make a big move this summer on the back of his impressive breakthrough season.

Romano brings the latest update on the matter, revealing on his YouTube channel that Tottenham are one of three clubs plotting a move for the versatile attacking midfielder.

The journalist says that the battle for the teenager’s signature could heat up over the coming weeks, remarking that his situation is now ‘one to watch’.

Romano further adds that the Rennes starlet’s family will have a big influence on where he ends up this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

PSG and Bayern also want Desire Doue

This update comes on the back of French journalist Abdellah Boulma’s revelation over the weekend that both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are keen on securing Doue.

GiveMeSport had reported last week that Tottenham had already reached out to the youngster’s representatives over a move and that Rennes could demand as much as £60m for the France Under-21 international.

Spurs Web Opinion

If PSG are expressing a keen interest, one would expect them to have an advantage over other suitors in the race as Doue and his family would likely prefer the option of staying in France.

It is up to Spurs and Postecoglou to make a persuasive case to the youngster that his development would be best served in North London.

‘Unbelievable that you can do that’ – Lucas Bergvall is already impressing Spurs staff - The Spurs Web
Description

The majority of the Tottenham Hotspur squad are back at Hotspur Way for their first training sessions of pre-season. There are some new faces there, too, and one in particular has earned praise from his coaches.

Lucas Bergvall stands out in training

Spurs made a big move in the transfer market back in January when, on deadline day, they usurped Barcelona to sign Lucas Bergvall.

The Swedish teenager stayed with his former club, Djurgardens, until the end of the season and Tottenham fans have been eager to see the youngster in action.

In a clip shared by the club recently after the first training session of the summer, players are seen taking tests and being put through their paces.

At one point, Bergvall is told by a member of staff: “Unbelievable that you can do that.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Straight into the senior squad for Lucas Bergvall

While it’s early days in the pre-season schedule, it appears Bergvall is in top condition, which is reassuring considering he had pulled out of international duty just last month.

In a report from Football.London earlier this week, Bergvall was named as one of the teenage talents arriving for their first training session of the summer, along with Jamie Donley and Mikey Moore, who were all involved with the first-team squad from day one.

According to Spurs insider, Paul O’Keefe, Ange Postecoglou has big plans for Bergvall this season. The player is not expected to depart on loan, as some had suggested.

Instead, he will be integrated into the first-team straight away, with game time expected across the various competitions Spurs are involved in this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot wait to see Bergvall in action for Spurs, and I have a really good feeling that he will do great things for us this season. He’s such a talented player and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him adapt to the Premier League with ease.

Spurs player announces his return to Hotspur Way in style despite exit links - The Spurs Web
Description

Players are coming and going at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but one man who seems primed for an exit has taken to social media to reveal he is back in training with the club.

Emerson Royal is back at Spurs… for now

Despite heavy speculation linking Emerson Royal with a move away from Spurs, namely to AC Milan, the Brazilian defender has shared a post on Instagram announcing he is at Hotspur Way once more to train with the first-team.

On the social media channel, Royal posted a number of photos of himself in training, smiling, involved in drills, and reuniting with his teammates.

He captioned the post, “The king is back,” followed by a laughing emoji. Clearly, the summer break has not affected Royal’s sense of humour.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Emerson Royal to AC Milan?

Royal is thought to be heading to AC Milan this summer. However, reports suggest a £12m bid has been turned down by Spurs already, with the North London side holding out for closer to £17m (CalcioMercato).

Fabrizio Romano claimed fresh talks are set to take place in the coming days, with Royal already believed to have agreed on a five-year-long deal with the Italian giants.

Royal is not thought to have a place in Ange Postecoglou‘s squad for the coming season, despite offering plenty of flexibility and defensive cover across the back four in 24 appearances last term (Transfermarkt).

The signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United, who can operate in the full-back role, could well have sealed the end of Royal’s tenure at Tottenham.

Spurs Web Opinion

You’ve got to love Emerson Royal’s humour. He does look happy to be back at Spurs, too, and he’s clearly enjoyed his time at the club over the years.

In terms of personality, he’s a great player to have around, but his ability is just not up to scratch, sadly.

Journalist says Spurs are ones to ‘keep an eye on’ in race for £25m star - The Spurs Web
Description

Ben Jacobs has become the latest journalist to talk up the chances of Tottenham Hotspur making a move for Lille striker Jonathan David this summer.

Jonathan David to Tottenham?

David has been one of the most prolific strikers in Ligue 1 over the last four years and with the 24-year-old now into the final year of his contract, unsurprisingly, a whole host of clubs around Europe are thought to be keeping an eye on his situation.

This includes a bunch of Premier League sides, with reports over recent weeks claiming that Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle could battle it out for the 23-year-old’s signature (Guardian).

The 24-year-old is currently with the Canadian national side, who have made history at the Copa America by making it all the way until the final four of the competition, with David and his teammates set to take on Cristian Romero’s Argentina in the semifinal this week.

Keep an eye on Spurs in the Jonathan David race

Jacobs believes that the striker will be playing for a new club next season, with Lille ready to sell him for just £25m.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist said on The London is Blue Podcast: “As far as strikers are concerned, the most experienced name with pedigree at the moment is Jonathan David who is available at a steal.

“I’d keep an eye on Spurs as well and I’m told that Lille will accept well under £30m, around €30m instead of pounds, so around £25m, so Chelsea could be one to watch there.”

Spurs Web Opinion

David’s involvement in Copa America might be the reason why the likes of Spurs, Chelsea and others have not made a concrete move yet.

One would expect the race for the Lille star’s signature to intensify over the next couple of weeks.

Spurs are unlikely to sign 24-year-old striker this summer – Sky Sports reporter - The Spurs Web
Description

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has ruled out the possibility of Tottenham Hotspur completing a sensational summer deal to sign Alexander Isak.

Tottenham have been linked with Isak

There has been plenty of speculation linking Isak with a move to Spurs all summer, with Football Insider stating last month ago that the Lilywhites view the 24-year-old as their ideal ‘marquee’ signing this summer.

The report suggested that the North London club would be prepared to make a ‘huge bid’ to test Newcastle’s resolve.

Chelsea have since also emerged as contenders for Isak’s signature, with Fabrizio Romano revealing two weeks ago that the Blues had enquired about the striker and found the Magpies asking price to be too high.

On July 1, Football Insider reported that Newcastle are confident of holding on to Isak, with Eddie Howe planning on building the team around the centre-forward.

It was explained that the club were in a much more comfortable position with respect to PSR, having sold Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively, and are thus under no pressure to cash in on the Swede.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Alexander Isak is unlikely to leave Newcastle

Sheth does not think Isak is a realistic target for Tottenham this summer since Newcastle have made it clear he is not for sale.

When asked about Spurs’ rumoured interest in the former Real Sociedad star, the journalist said on the Last Word on Spurs: “I’m not surprised there is an interest in him. Tottenham won’t be the only club interested in Alexander Isak because he’s a fantastic player.

“I don’t think Newcastle are now in a position where they’re under pressure to sell these players. Tottenham, of course, it’s good that they’re interested in players like this, that can only be a good sign, but I can’t see it happening.

“I could be wrong, but I can’t see that move happening because of the contract situation, the feeling that he’s happy at Newcastle and the strength Newcastle have that he’s not for sale. I can’t see it at the moment.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs might have been keeping an eye on Isak’s situation to see if Newcastle get desperate to sell him due to their PSR situation.

However, now that we have passed the deadline for the FFP and PSR calculations, one would think that the window of opportunity has now shut.

Journalist says there is a feeling Spurs might come back in for Chelsea target - The Spurs Web
Description

Journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Chelsea might have to watch out for competition from Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa.

Tottenham were linked with Antonio Nusa

After Nusa’s failed move to Brentford in January, several reports over the summer have suggested that Premier League clubs could once again come calling for the winger.

This includes an earlier update by Fichajes, who claimed that Tottenham were at the front of the queue to land the teenager as they view him as a ‘key piece for their future project’.

Last month, The Guardian claimed that Crystal Palace had made advances over a deal for Nusa, having identified him as a potential replacement for Michael Olise.

Chelsea keen on a deal for Antonio Nusa

Jacobs has now revealed that Nusa is one of the names on Enzo Maresca’s shopping list at Chelsea ahead of his first season in charge.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the journalist added that the Blues have to be wary of their London rivals, Spurs, as well as of Brighton, who are both continuing to keep an eye on the Norway international.

When discussing Chelsea’s transfer targets, Jacobs told The London is Blue Podcast: “Then the last name I would throw into the mix is Antonio Nusa who Chelsea have been linked with before.

“There isn’t a fear from suitors that he isn’t going to be attainable or that he won’t struggle for fitness because of the back and knee problems he has had.

“Brentford haven’t come back in, there’s a feeling that Brighton might and also Spurs, so Chelsea will have to move quickly if they want to enter that race.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Tottenham are fans of Nusa, having failed with a move for the Club Brugge star in January.

However, it does seem like Spurs have turned their attention to other alternatives, possibly due to concerns over the winger’s injury issues following his failed medical at Brentford.

Alasdair Gold thinks young striker needs to catch Postecoglou’s eye in pre-season - The Spurs Web
Description

Alasdair Gold has said that Will Lankshear is not seen as a first-team prospect by Ange Postcoglou just yet and that the striker has to impress the coaching staff during pre-season if he wants to follow in the footsteps of Jamie Donley.

Will Lankshear impressed for Spurs U21s last season

Lankshear netted 25 goals in 26 matches across all competitions last season, playing a vital role in taking Tottenham’s Under-21 side to the Premier League 2 title.

There is a lot of excitement about the centre-forward’s potential at Hotspur Way but unlike Jamie Donley and Mikey Moore, the teenager is yet to break into make his senior bow for Spurs.

It was reported by London World last month that Middlesbrough had already made contact with Tottenham to ask about the striker’s availability.

The outlet explained that the 19-year-old is also attracting interest from other EFL clubs and teams from across the continent, but it was suggested that the North London club are yet to decide whether to send him out on loan.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Will Lankshear needs to catch Ange’s eye

When asked about the striker’s future and about him potentially being a first-team option, Gold has now said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “It’s an interesting one with Will Lankshear.

“I think Ange likes him, but not to the degree where he’s really got him involved yet. He hasn’t been in and around the squads yet as a lot of the other young players have.

“He just needs something to go his way, whether it’s training with Ange and showing there’s more to his game, I think he has to do something more to catch Ange’s eye, but there’s a lot of hope for him in the academy as well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Dane Scarlett, Will Lankshear and Alejo Veliz to all be loaned out if Tottenham sign another striker this summer as none of those players are likely to get much game time, even in the Europa League.

Description

According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are now closing in on a deal to sign Tottenham target Riccardo Calafiori, with last season’s Premier League runners-up ready to meet Bologna’s asking price for the centre-back.

Riccardo Calafiori is set to join Arsenal

The report says that although the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle United had all shown concrete interest in bringing Calafiori to the Premier League, it is Arsenal who are expected to do so.

The defender is said to have rejected the likes of the Lilywhites and the Blues as he felt that a move to those clubs would be a gamble.

Spurs currently already have Micky Van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin on their books.

Calafiori rejected Chelsea and Tottenham

Instead, the Italy international, who shone at the Euros, has allegedly agreed to personal terms with the Gunners on a five-year deal worth €4m per season and is expected to seal a move to the Emirates.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Although Arsenal have not reached a full agreement with Bologna, they are thought to be ready to match the Italian club’s asking price of €50m, with talks between all parties now said to be advancing.

Tottenham will seemingly have to look elsewhere for any centre-back reinforcement this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Arsenal are a more attractive club to potential targets at this stage as they are way ahead of us in their project.

Calafiori might have also felt that his chances of being a regular starter at the Emirates could be higher, given that he would have to compete with Van de Ven, Romero and Dragusin at Spurs.
