Report: Liverpool not expected to enter the race for Spurs-linked forward - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a potential boost in any pursuit of Crysencio Summerville, with TBR Football reporting that Liverpool are not expected to get involved in a bidding war for the Leeds United star.

Spurs have been linked with Crysencio Summerville

Summerville was one of the standout players in the Championship last term and the winger was always going to be the subject of intense interest if Leeds failed to win promotion, and that is exactly how things have turned out.

Two months ago, HITC claimed that the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and West Ham had all checked in on the Dutchman this season and were plotting a move for him.

However, it is Brighton who have seemingly made the first move for the 22-year-old, with Fabrizio Romano revealing earlier his week that the Seagulls had begun talks to bring the player to the Amex Stadium.

The journalist added that the race for the pacy wide-man’s signature is still ‘open’, naming Liverpool as one of the other contenders for the attacker.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Liverpool will not push for Summerville this summer

However, TRB Football have now said that while the Reds had indeed watched Summerville extensively last season, they have now decided that they will not be pursuing the player.

The publication also backs up Romano’s claim about Brighton making contact, suggesting that the Segulls are prepared to pay £30m to land the former Feyenoord man.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Tottenham having signed Timo Werner, one would think that Postecolgou would now want to add a top-class wide-forward who would be a significant upgrade to the options he already has.

While Summerville has shown a lot of promise, there is little evidence to suggest that he is at that level yet.

Journalist says 24-year-old is more likely to end up at Newcastle than Spurs - The Spurs Web
Description

Journalist Dean Jones has said that Newcastle United are the favourites to beat Tottenham Hotspur to Morgan Gibbs-White if the midfielder leaves Nottingham Forest this summer.

Tottenham have been linked with Gibbs-White

Over the last couple of months, it has been widely reported that Forest would have to sell some of their players in order to comply with PSR and that Gibbs-White could thus be sacrificed this summer (iNews).

Tottenham continue to be mooted as a potential destination for the midfielder, with Football Insider claiming just last week that the Lilywhites continue to hold a ‘strong interest’ in the player.

The report suggested that Ange Postecoglou wants to reshuffle his options in the middle of the park and that the 24-year-old is willing to leave the City Ground this summer if the right opportunity opens up.

However, Spurs are not thought to be the only club monitoring Gibbs-White, with HITC claiming last month that Eddie Howe is a fan of the midfielder and is keen to take him to St James Park this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Newcastle likely to beat Spurs to Gibbs-White

Jones believes that the Forest star is more likely to end up in the North East than North London this summer.

When asked about Gibbs-White’s future, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “Doubt continues to linger around the potential of him staying at Nottingham Forest and my hunch is that if he leaves, Newcastle would be the club best placed to sign him.

“Spurs are being linked too but I’ve heard a few whispers around the Newcastle side of this that would make me side with them slightly in terms of being favourites at this early stage.

“He would be such an intriguing signing in that Newcastle team, a lovely player to have, making inroads behind Isak.

“We know the priority for Newcastle is to find an attacker for the right side of the attack but I would still keep an eye on Gibbs-White and how his situation starts to open up.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Gibbs-White is the obvious candidate for Spurs to turn their attention to if a move for Conor Gallagher proves unfruitful.

The Forest star has a very similar profile to the Chelsea man, being a workhorse in midfield, technically sound and homegrown.

Tottenham insider outlines Ange Postecoglou's big plan for Lucas Bergvall - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has revealed that Lucas Bergvall will have a key role to play at the North London club next season.

Lucas Bergvall arrives at Tottenham this summer

There is plenty of excitement among Spurs fans about Bergvall’s impending arrival, with the 18-year-old continuing to deliver outstanding displays for Djurgardens since January.

The teenager has been tipped for big things back in Sweden but it remains to be seen how he will be able to cope with the increased pressure as well as the step up in quality at N17.

The midfielder might need to bide his time to get up to speed with the Premier League, with Alasdair Gold stating on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast earlier this month that the people around the youngster expect him to take at least six months to bed in.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Postecoglou has big plans for Lucas Bergvall

Some might wonder if Tottenham decide to loan out Bergvall but O’Keefe has now suggested on The Last World on Spurs podcast that a temporary departure is not on the cards for the Swede.

He revealed that based on everything he has heard, the midfielder will be integrated straight into the first team by Ange Postecoglou when he arrives at Hotspur Way.

Spurs will be playing in four competitions again next season, so there should be plenty of minutes to go around if the youngster impresses in training.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Ange and his coaching staff decide during pre-season that Bergvall is not quite ready to be a regular first-team regular, they would still want to keep him at the club for a few months so that he can get used to Tottenham’s style of play.

The midfielder might get some game time in the group stages of the Europa League and Spurs could think about a loan move in January or perhaps next summer.

Report: 27-year-old Premier League defender is now on Tottenham's radar - The Spurs Web
Description

According to Tottenham Insider Paul O’Keefe, the Lilywhites could make a move for Wolves centre-back Max Kilman this summer.

Tottenham want a new centre-back this summer

Spurs are looking to add another central defender to their squad this summer, with Ange Postecoglou himself admitting that he wants more reinforcements to his backline ahead of next season (Football.London).

A whole host of central defenders have been mooted as targets for Tottenham over the last couple of months.

These include Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno (CalcioMercato), Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori (CaughtOffside), Everton Jarrad Branthwaite (Daily Mail) and Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo (GFFN).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs are interested in Wolves’ Max Kilman

O Keefe has now said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast that Wolves captain Max Kilman is also another name on Postecogolou’s transfer wishlist.

The 27-year-old has four years left on his contract at Molineux Stadium but according to O’Keefe, Tottenham might look to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

This is not the first time Kilman has been mooted as a target for Spurs, with reports indicating last summer that the club viewed the left-footed defender as a potential alternative to Micky van de Ven (TMW).

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Tottenham’s interest in Kilman is long-standing and the fact that the Wolves star is left-footed and homegrown would be a big boost to the North London club.

However, it remains to be seen if the 27-year-old would be keen on the move as he will know that he is not likely to start too many matches at N17.

Report: Spurs have 'rushed towards' centre-back and are ready to meet asking price - The Spurs Web
Description

Tutto Juve have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit of Riccardo Calafiori but Juventus remain favourites to land the Bologna star.

Tottenham love the look of Riccardo Calafiori

There had already been plenty of speculation over Calafiori’s future over the last few months and the rumours have intensified since the centre-back’s impressive display in Italy’s win over Albania in Euro 2024.

TuttoJuve are the latest to report on Spurs’ pursuit of the 22-year-old, stating that Ange Postecoglou’s men have ‘rushed towards’ signing the versatile defender.

It is alleged that the Premier Leauge side would have ‘no problem’ meeting Bologna’s asking price of €40m-€45m (£33.7m-£38m) for the centre-back.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Juventus, Spurs and Atletico fight for Calafiori

However, Spurs’ main challenge would be to convince Calafiori regarding a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the player prefers to join Juventus.

The publication adds that despite Spurs’ advances, the Bianconeri remain confident of winning the race for the Italy international, partly down to the fact that former Bologna coach Thiago Motta has taken over at the Allianz Stadium.

Meanwhile, the print edition of AS (as relayed by Sport Witness) has claimed that Atletico Madrid have now joined Tottenham and Juventus in the race for the defender.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like Juve are very much in the driving seat in the race for Calafiori and Tottenham have their work cut out to convince the player regarding a move to N17.

Spurs’ quest to do so will not be helped by the fact that Radu Dragusin has struggled for game time since joining from Genoa in January.

Club insider names two midfielders Spurs are looking at this summer - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Insider, Paul O’Keefe, who regularly breaks news on social media about the happenings at the club and their transfer plans, has now named the two number sixes who have emerged as the Lilywhites’ top targets this summer.

Tottenham want a new defensive midfielder

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s time at Spurs now looks set to be over, with the Dane, who has just a year left on his deal, expected to seek a fresh challenge this summer (GiveMeSport).

Oliver Skipp, who struggled for starts for much of last season, has also been backed to leave, with some sources suggesting that the Tottenham academy graduate is keen to get regular game time (The Athletic).

The pair’s departure will leave Ange Postecoglou short of options in the defensive midfield department, which is why a number of outlets have suggested over recent months that Tottenham are on the lookout for a number six this summer (Football.London).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs like Amadou Onana and Ederson

In his latest appearance on The Last Word of Spurs podcast, O’Keefe has named Everton’s Amadou Onana and Altanta’s Ederson as the two defensive midfielders who are on Spurs’ list.

This would seemingly confirm that Spurs are indeed on the lookout for a number six to bolster the squad ahead of the new season.

Onana is currently on duty for Belgium at the European Championships, while Ederson is playing for Brazil at the Copa America this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

While a deal for Onana would be relatively easy for Spurs to complete, I am not sure too many Tottenham fans will be pleased with the Belgian’s signing.

In stark contrast, Ederson would certainly improve our starting eleven but the deal for the Brazilian would be very difficult to get over the line, given that Atalanta have qualified for the Champions League.

Alan Hutton names the 'bulletproof' striker Tottenham should sign this summer

Alan Hutton names the 'bulletproof' striker Tottenham should sign this summer - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur need to sign a striker this summer, and Ivan Toney is the one the club should target according to former Spurs defender, Alan Hutton.

Tottenham are linked with Ivan Toney

Since Harry Kane left the club last summer, Tottenham have relied on the attacking talents of Heung-min Son and Richarlison. The pair didn’t do too bad either, contributing 28 league goals between them last season.

However, with Son looking slightly less effective through the middle and Richarlison struggling with injuries, it’s clear Ange Postecoglou needs a genuine number 9 who can deliver consistently if his side are to go to the next level.

According to GiveMeSport, Ivan Toney is very much on Tottenham’s radar in that department, with a move being plotted for later this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs need to sign Ivan Toney, says Hutton

And if Alan Hutton had his way, Toney would definitely be the player to sign for Spurs this year, as he believes the Brentford man can offer ‘something different’ to their other targets.

He told Best Online Poker Sites: “I think if Spurs want to properly kick on next season and challenge for the top four, they need to get a striker. Ivan Toney would be my top choice.

“I know people have mentioned the likes of Dominic Solanke but I think Toney gives you that something different – it feels like he plays as if he’s bulletproof. Having lost Harry Kane, if they went and got Toney this summer, he’d be the one to take them to the next level.”

Hutton suggested other areas to work on, too, adding: “I think with regards to the rest of the positions, Ange Postecoglou should just be looking at strengthening the squad, a backup left back for example – although Destiny Udogie has been brilliant. There are just spots within the squad that need beefing out a little bit.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Ivan Toney would be a real safe bet (pardon the pun) for Spurs, as we know he can score goals in the Premier League consistently, and he would feed on the chances we create by being in the right areas at all times.

'Surprised me' - Andros Townsend reveals 'genius' thing Luka Modric used to do in training at Spurs - The Spurs Web
Description

Andros Townsend may be lighting up the commentary at Euro 2024 right now, but he’s also shared the pitch with some Tottenham Hotspur greats over the years. Reflecting on his time with Luka Modric, the former Spurs man revealed how the little Croatian shocked him with one particular attribute.

Modric and Townsend played together at Tottenham

Both Modric and Townsend are still playing football to this day, though to a slightly different level, of course.

While Modric is winning major honours with Real Madrid, Townsend was fighting for survival with Luton Town in the Premier League last season, albeit admirably.

The latter is now a co-commentator at Euro 2024, and has impressed many with his insight and enthusiasm while watching the games.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Luka Modric has always been a genius

The pair spent time together at Tottenham, and Townsend has recalled how, as a Spurs academy graduate, seeing Modric come into the club and show what he could do was pretty special.

Speaking on ITV‘s coverage of the Croatia and Albania game this week, Townsend said (via TBRFootball): “What really surprised me is how good he is at using his body. When he first came to England people said he’s too small to play central midfield.

“Watching him in training, he always made sure his first touch gets across his defender so if they do make contact with him it’s a foul. He never allows himself to go shoulder-to-shoulder with a much stronger opponent. For me, I’d never seen that before it was genius.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Some of the greatest players of all time have been rather diminutive in stature, but it’s all about how they use what they’ve got to their advantage.

Modric knows he will never win a physical battle, but he’s got the awareness, foresight, and deft of touch to ensure he succeeds whenever he gets the ball at his feet.

Report: Tottenham want to hand Mourinho a blow by signing £30m star - The Spurs Web
Description

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur now want to hand their former boss Jose Mourinho a blow by swooping for Fenerbahce midfielder Sebastian Szymanski.

Tottenham have been linked with Sebastian Szymanski

The report says that Ange Postecoglou is eyeing a revamp of Spurs’ midfield ahead of the new season and the Australian wants to add an ‘all-action midfielder’ to his squad.

One of the players thought to be on the Lilywhites’ radar is Szymanski, who had an outstanding 2022-23 season, with 13 goals and 19 assists in all competitions for Fenerbahce.

The attacking midfielder is currently with the Poland squad at the Euros but GiveMeSport alleges that Tottenham could soon make a big move to poach him from Istanbul.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Jose Mourinho wants to keep Szymanski

It is explained that Mourinho is keen to keep the 26-year-old a the club and Spurs would thus have to stump up a decent fee to sign the player.

According to the report, a bid of around £30m would be required for the North London side to prise Szymanski away from Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

The publication adds that Tottenham are not the only ones eyeing a move for the midfielder, who is also of interest to both Lazio and Marseille.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is not the first we are hearing of Tottenham’s interest in Szymanski and the Lilywhites may be eyeing him as a potential replacement for Giovani Lo Celso, who is expected to depart N17.

However, one would think that if Spurs are successful in their pursuit of Weston McKennie, they are unlikely to push ahead with a move for the Fenerbahce star.
