Report: Spurs could battle Brighton for Spain Under-21 international - The Spurs Web
Description

According to a report in Grada 3 (as translated by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are now eyeing a move for RCD Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Who is Joan Garcia?

Garcia, who came through Espanyol’s youth system, broke into the club’s first-team back in 2021 but it was last season when the young goalkeeper became a regular in the side.

The 21-year-old made 14 appearances for the club in La Liga 2 across 2023-24, conceding seven goals and keeping eight clean sheets, as well as keeping two clean sheets in three promotion play-off games (Transfermarkt).

The youngster’s performances between the sticks have allegedly caught the attention of clubs from La Liga as well as from abroad.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs and Brighton both like Joan Garcia

It is revealed that both Real Madrid and Valencia are keeping an eye on Garcia but it is the two sides from the Premier League who have shown the most interest.

According to the report, Spurs and Brighton are both exploring moves to bring the goalkeeper to England, with the Seagulls and the Lilywhites potentially set for a battle for the 23-year-old’s services this summer.

Spurs currently have Guglielmo Vicario, Fraser Forster, Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin to choose from between the sticks at Hotspur Way.

Spurs Web Opinion

One can understand why Tottenham might be looking for young, up-and-coming goalkeepers, with the club needing a long-term replacement for Fraser Forster, whose contract is unlikely to be renewed when it runs out next summer.

It isn’t the most high-profile transfer link in the world, but back-up keepers can be extremely important. Look at Stefan Ortega at Man City!

Teddy Sheringham reveals who Spurs should sign out of Gallagher and Eze

Teddy Sheringham reveals who Spurs should sign out of Gallagher and Eze - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to both Eberechi Eze and Conor Gallagher ahead of the summer transfer window, and Teddy Sheringham thinks the club should try and sign one player more than the other.

Spurs have been linked with Eze and Gallagher

It’s set to be a busy summer for Tottenham, with boss Ange Postecoglou looking to improve his squad once more.

So far, a number of players have left the club, with more set to follow. There are expected to be big changes taking place in the middle of the park, in particular.

Crystal Palace playmaker, Eberechi Eze, has long been suggested as a signing for Spurs, and it is thought the club are preparing to discuss a move for the England international very soon (Football Transfers).

Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher has been linked with Spurs for even longer, with Aston Villa also in pursuit. However, it is thought the player himself would rather stay at Chelsea and will not be forced into leaving his boyhood club (Football Insider).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Should Spurs sign Eze or Gallagher?

Whether Spurs sign either player remains to be seen, but Teddy Sheringham believes the club should prioritise a move for Eze.

He told Poker Sites: “I probably prefer Eberechi Eze over Conor Gallagher for Spurs. Having more players capable of breaking down a defence is crucial, especially considering the style Ange Postecoglou aims for.

“He values players who can control the ball and create opportunities, so I would lean towards Eze, even though I also appreciate Conor Gallagher.

“Gallagher, while different from Eze, brings a hardworking and industrious approach to making things happen, and I’d be pleased to see him join Tottenham as well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The two players are so different that it’s unlikely to be an either-or situation for Spurs here. We need a central midfielder and we need an attacking midfielder/winger, so signing both Gallagher and Eze would fill those gaps, however, it’s very unlikely we would be able to get them both.

Report reveals how Spurs missed out on an extra £74m in sponsorship deal

Report reveals how Spurs missed out on an extra £74m in sponsorship deal - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur is a money-making machine these days, with the new stadium in particular driving huge amounts of revenue each year. But, when it comes to sponsorship deals, it seems Daniel Levy missed a trick and fell short of a £74m windfall.

Since the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened its doors in 2019, Spurs have become a commercial behemoth and are now thought to be the eighth-richest club in the world when it comes to revenue (Deloitte).

In terms of the Premier League, the Lilywhites are now only behind the Manchester clubs and Liverpool in regards to their revenue stream.

The stadium is a state-of-the-art facility, and benefits from hosting non-football events such as boxing, NFL, and music concerts.

All of this has given Spurs a fairly sound footing when it comes to Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), while rivals flounder and have to sell players to stay in the balance.

MORE SPURS STORIES

AIA deal could be even bigger

Regardless of any criticism chairman Daniel Levy faces, he has clearly been running the club pretty well in a business sense. But, he hasn’t quite stretched the team’s shirt sponsorship deal with AIA to its maximum potential.

That’s according to The Sponsor, industry experts on sponsorship deals, which reveals Tottenham’s £40m-per-year deal with AIA is actually below the £49.3m-per-year limit they could be banking.

Spurs agreed the deal in 2019 with the Hong Kong-based insurance firm, and the agreement runs through to 2027.

But, as per the Premier League‘s Fair Market Value assessment, that deal could have been higher without breaking any rules. Over the course of the eight-year agreement, that leaves Spurs missing out on, roughly, an extra £74m.

Spurs Web Opinion

I mean, an extra £74m would obviously be nice for the club, but I don’t think Levy will necessarily lose any sleep over this one.

The AIA deal is one of the highest in the league already, and by the sounds of it, our new trainingwear and shirt sleeve sponsorship deals will make up for that gap anyway.

Report: Italian clubs should fear Spurs in race for centre-back - The Spurs Web
Description

Multiple Italian outlets have now named Tottenham Hotspur are ones to watch out for in the race for Sampdoria starlet Giovanni Leoni this summer.

Tottenham are interested in Giovanni Leoni

Leoni impressed on loan at Sampdoria in Serie B last season, with the Italian club taking the option to sign the centre-back permanently earlier this month.

It has now been suggested that the club could sell the 17-year-old for a profit this summer, with several sides circling over him.

According to Il Secolo XIX (as relayed by SampNews24), the centre-back is Sampdoria’s ‘most interesting’ player and has caught the attention of Torino, Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli.

However, it is said that those four clubs would have to ‘watch out for’ Tottenham, who are also plotting a move to sign the teenager.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The race is heating up to sign Giovanni Leoni

Meanwhile, over at La Repubblica (as relayed by Club Doria 46), it is revealed that it is Inter who are currently at the front of the queue to secure Leoni’s signature, with the Nerazzurri having a good relationship with Sampdoria.

However, the report claims that the reigning Serie A champions should pay attention to Spurs, who are looking closely at the Italian market to study the best emerging talents.

It is suggested that a bidding war could emerge for Leoni, which might play into the hands of Ange Postecolgou’s side.

Finally, the publication adds that while Sampdoria would be willing to sell the young defender, they are keen to sign him back on loan.

Spurs Web Opinion

Leoni clearly seems like a Fabio Paratici target and one would not be surprised if Spurs are exploring a similar deal to the Udogie one, where they sign the teenager and loan him back out to Sampdoria for next season.

Report: Rodrigo Bentancur's agent in talks over Tottenham exit - The Spurs Web
Description

According to a report in Takvim, Rodrigo Bentancur’s agent has spoken to Galatasaray about a potential summer transfer.

Galatasaray are interested in Rodrigo Bentancur

The report states that Bentancur has emerged as a ‘surprise name’ on Galatasaray’s agenda for the summer window as the Turkish club look to bolster their midfield ahead of the new season.

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is said to be keen on bringing the Tottenham man to the club but it is explained that the Istanbul club are aware that the operation would be quite difficult to pull off.

Nevertheless, they are willing to make an effort to see if they can push it through, with the club officials already thought to have met the 26-year-old’s agent to discuss the ‘financial conditions’ of a move.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Could Bentancur leave Spurs this summer?

The report further asserts that Galatasaray’s Uruguayan duo of Fernando Muslera and Lucas Torreira could help convince the Spurs man about making a move to Rams Park.

This update comes on the back of Bentancur receiving plenty of criticism for his distasteful joke on Son Heung-min.

Reports indicate that the midfielder could be charged by the FA for his conduct even though his apology has been accepted by the Tottenham captain (The Times).

Spurs Web Opinion

Any transfer rumours coming from Turkish outlets should be taken with a pinch of salt as they like to sensationalise stories and play fast and loose with the details.

I do not think Spurs will consider offloading Bentancur this summer unless they receive a substantial offer.

Report: Newcastle make a move for 19-year-old starlet also linked with Spurs - The Spurs Web
Description

According to Tuttosport, Newcastle United have now made advances towards the signing of Juventus starlet Dean Huijsen, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Tottenham have been linked with Dean Huijsen

Huijsen has made just one senior appearance for Juve but the Bianconeri academy graduate has seen his stock rise substantially over the last few months after he impressed during his loan spell at Roma during the second half of last season.

It was reported by HITC towards the end of May that Spurs had been impressed with the centre-back’s performances at the Stadio Olimpico and were plotting a move for him.

The outlet suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s men are ‘looking closely’ at Huijsen and had asked Juve ‘to be kept informed’ of their plans for the defender.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Newcastle and others enter race for Huijsen

According to TuttoSport, the Mapgies have now made movements over recent days to seek more information about Huijsen’s availability.

The report says that Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund and Girona are the three clubs ‘at the window’ to sign the defender, with Juve’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli ‘maintaining close relationships’ with those sides.

It is alleged that the young centre-back is not in the plans of new boss Thiago Motta and the Old Lady are willing to sell him for around €30m (£25.3m).

Spurs Web Opinion

Experienced and proven centre-backs might not be too keen on making a move to Spurs this summer as they would expect assurances of game time.

Tottenham might thus have to take a bet on a young, up-and-coming defender like Huijsen unless Postecoglou feels he can promote one of Ashely Phillips or Alfie Dorrington to the first team.

Alasdair Gold says one Spurs transfer is not as far along as reports suggest - The Spurs Web
Description

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that AC Milan are yet to begin negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal to sign Emerson Royal.

Emerson Royal is expected to leave Spurs this summer

Over the past few weeks, a number of Italian outlets have suggested that Emerson’s move to Milan is now edging closer by the day, with Tottenham and the Serie A club nearing an agreement.

This includes a recent update by Gazzetta dello Sport, which suggested that a €20m (£17m) deal could be struck for the right-back sooner rather than later.

However, Gold has now revealed that Milan have only held talks with Emerson’s representatives regarding a move and are yet to engage Spurs in any formal negotiations.

MORE SPURS STORIES

No negotiations so far between Milan and Spurs

He explains that the Brazilian is not seen as the most natural fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system, which is why Tottenham are listening to offers for him.

According to Gold, the former Real Betis man simply wants to play regular football next season, whether that be in North London or elsewhere.

The journalist asserts that apart from Milan, Brazilian side Flamengo are also keen on bringing Emerson back home while some Saudi Pro League have also shown an interest in the 25-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Milan have not held concrete negotiations with Tottenham, the two clubs might now have a clear idea of where each other stands regarding Emerson and what kind of an offer would be required to clinch the deal.

There is every chance that this transfer could be completed in a matter of weeks.

Report: Serie A giants enter race for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after his Euros masterclass - The Spurs Web
Description

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg looks set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and now there is even more interest from Italy for the Danish midfielder, as AC Milan join the race to sign him.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to leave Spurs this summer

After being a first-team regular since joining the club in 2020, Hojbjerg has had to settle for a bit-part role under Ange Postecoglou.

The Danish international made 39 appearances for Spurs last season, but most were from the substitutes bench. He racked up 1509 minutes across the campaign, averaging at just 38 minutes per game.

He has reportedly been told he can leave Spurs this summer and a number of clubs are interested in the central midfielder (print edition of The Daily Star as relayed by Football.London).

So far, Galatasaray (Sabah via Sport Witness), Fulham (GiveMeSport), Atletico Madrid (Daily Mail), Napoli (Corriere dello Sport), and Fenerbahce (Takvim) have all been linked with Hojbjerg.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Rossoneri linked with Hojbjerg

Now, the latest to add to that list is AC Milan, with the Serie A giants described as an ‘interesting opportunity’ for the Rossoneri this summer.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport (via Football-Italia), who claim Hojbjerg is “keen to depart” Spurs, and could fit the profile Milan are looking for.

It is thought Milan want a “physical midfielder” who can protect their defence. While Hojbjerg’s agent has been in touch with a number of clubs, including Juventus and Napoli, it is Milan who have been alerted to his availability.

Apparently, the €20m (£16.9m) price tag is within Milan’s financial “parameters” and an approach could well be made in the “coming months.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Hojbjerg would be a great fit for Milan. Indeed, he would do well at any club in Serie A, as the nature of the game out in Italy definitely suits his style of play. I would imagine Hojbjerg will leave Spurs quite quickly once Euro 2024 is out of the way.

Argentine press say Cristian Romero 'lifted the stadium' in Copa America opener - The Spurs Web
Description

Argentina defeated Canada 2-0 in their opening game at the Copa America, and Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero has been hailed as one of the best players on the pitch.

Copa America kicked off on Friday as holders Argentina look to defend their crown. La Albiceleste began their journey with a group-stage clash against Canada.

Despite a 2-0 victory, Argentina were far from convincing. A goal from Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez early in the second half gave the World Cup champions the lead, before Lautaro Martinez doubled their advantage with mere minutes to play.

Both Romero and his club teammate, Giovani Lo Celso, are part of the squad for the tournament. The latter came onto the field on the 68th minute mark, and picked up a yellow card in the dying moments.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Cristian Romero shines in Argentina win

However, it is Romero who came out of the game with glowing references from his national press. The central defender played the full 90 minutes, and kept a clean sheet alongside Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez.

Tyc Sports named Romero their Star of the Match, with a rating of 8 out of 10. They wrote: “Every time he anticipated, he lifted the stadium. He had a couple of providential saves.”

Ole gave Romero a 7.5 out of 10 rating, saying, “Great closure centimetres away from [Emiliano Martinez] in the box. Leader and owner of the ball at the back, without attacking.”

As per SofaScore statistics, Romero made six tackles, three clearances and an interception. He was successful in 100% of his six ground duels and didn’t get dribbled past once in the game.

Report: Man United open talks with the agent of alleged Tottenham target

Report: Man United open talks with the agent of alleged Tottenham target - The Spurs Web
Description

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Manchester United have reached out to the agent of rumoured Tottenham target Joshua Zirkzee to discuss a summer move to Old Trafford.

Tottenham were linked with Zirkzee earlier this year

Zirkzee has been a big hit in Serie A since swapping Bayern Munich for Bologna last summer and the striker’s displays at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium have allegedly caught Tottenham’s attention.

It was previously reported by the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) that both Spurs and AC Milan had been circling over the forward.

Earlier this week, The Athletic claimed that Man Utd had entered the race for the Dutchman and had started exploring a move for the forward, who is alleged to have a release clause of €40m (£34m) in his contract.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Man Utd now holding talks over Zirkzee

If Plettenberg’s latest update is to be believed, the Red Devils have now held ‘concrete talks’ with Zirkzee‘s top agent, Kia Joorabchian, over a transfer.

The journalist says that the Bolgona star had previously reached a full agreement with AC Milan but the Machester club are now ready to hijack the deal after Erik Ten Hag gave the green light for the move.

The report adds that while the Rossoneri are still in the race for Zirkzee, United have now identified the 23-year-old as their ‘top target’.

Plettenberg tweeted: ‘Been told that concrete talks between ManUtd and Joshua Zirkzee‘s top agent Kia Joorabchian have started! Zirkzee, a top target for the attack of MUFC again and as revealed today – after a total agreement with AC Milan is not in sight at this stage.

‘Understand, ManUtd with good chance to hijack the deal. Red Devils now working on a total verbal agreement. Open race. Ten Hag wants him. However, a deal with Milan is not out of the question.’

Spurs Web Opinion

There is very little to suggest that Tottenham are still involved in the race for Zirkzee, with the Lilywhites appearing to have moved on to other alternatives.

It seems like Spurs are still playing the waiting game regarding Ivan Toney and want to see if Brentford are willing to lower their demands for the striker later in the transfer window.
