Description

According to Fabrizio Romano, Monaco have no intention of allowing Vanderson to join Tottenham Hotspur on the cheap this summer, with the Ligue 1 club demanding a sizeable fee for the right-back.

Tottenham have been linked with Vanderson this summer

Vanderson is thought to have emerged as a target for Tottenham, with reports back in Brazil claiming earlier this month that the Lilywhites had identified the youngster as a replacement for his compatriot Emerson Royal, who is expected to depart the club.

This claim was first carried by UOL, who stated that the Premier League side had already made contact over a move for the Monaco star.

However, GiveMeSport explained last week that Tottenham could face quite a bit of competition for the 22-year-old, who is also alleged to be on the radars of Napoli, Barcelona and Manchester United.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Spurs interest in Vanderson

Romano has now become the latest journalist to report on Spurs’ interest in Vanderson, confirming that Ange Postecoglou’s men ‘appreciate’ the Brazil international.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, he made it clear that the Ligue 1 club would want a fee of over €40m (£33.8m) to let the full-back leave the Louis II Stadium this summer.

Romano tweeted: ‘Tottenham are showing interest in AS Monaco right-back Vanderson, one of the options only if Emerson Royal leaves the club.

‘Not an easy one as Monaco want more than €40m fee, but Spurs appreciate him. Emerson is expected to leave Tottenham with AC Milan being his priority.’

Spurs Web Opinion

£33m is a steep price to pay for a backup right-back but it is worth keeping in mind that Tottenham would receive a fee of around £15m-£20m from Emerson’s sale, with the Brazilian now seemingly edging closer to a move to Milan.

Tottenham Hotspur's 2024/25 Premier League fixtures in full including who Spurs face first - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have this morning learnt of their full Premier League fixtures for the 2024/2025 season.

Spurs fans now know exactly where they will be heading to cheer on their side in Ange Postecoglou‘s second season in charge of the North Londoners.

Tottenham will start their Premier League season with an away match at Leicester City and will end it with a home fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion.

When does the Premier League season start?

The 2024-25 Premier League season will begin on the weekend of 17-18 August.

It will take place over 33 weekends, with four midweek rounds and one Bank Holiday matchweek.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The final round of fixtures will be played on Sunday, 25 May 2025, with all games to kick off at the same time.

All fixtures and kick-off times are subject to change due to the broadcast companies’ picks as well as moving for European and domestic cup matches as well as any unforeseen postponements.

Will there be a mid-season break?

To allow for a mid-August start, there will not be a winter break this season. The Premier League has assured clubs they will not be asked to play twice in less than 60 hours at any point over Christmas and New Year.

That rules out any club playing on 26 December also having a game on 28 December. There will be no Christmas Eve fixture in the 2024-25 season.

International Breaks

So far according to FIFA men’s international match calendar, there will be four international breaks spread out out across the duration of the 2024-24 Premier League season.

Those breaks are scheduled for September 1-9, October 6-14 and November 10-18, 2024 for England’s upcoming Nations League campaign.

With another break taking place from March 23-31, 2025 as 2026 World Cup qualifying begins.

Kieran Trippier reveals Simeone's 'blunt' comment about his last season at Tottenham

Kieran Trippier reveals Simeone's 'blunt' comment about his last season at Tottenham - The Spurs Web
Description

Kieran Trippier has spoken about his decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, admitting that Diego Simeone made it clear to him as soon as he arrived that he had to improve the defensive side of his game.

Kieran Trippier opens up on leaving Tottenham

Trippier spent four seasons at Spurs after joining the club from Burnley in the summer of 2015 and he developed into a top right-back during his time at the club, managing to break into the England set-up.

However, he had a significant drop-off in his final season at Spurs, with his defensive mistakes costing Mauricio Pochettino’s men on several occasions.

Trippier eventually joined Atletico Madrid for just £20m (BBC) where he improved his defensive game under the tutelage of Simeone, playing a valued part in the club’s title win in 2020-21.

The former Tottenham man has been one of the most consistent right-backs in the Premier League since joining Newcastle in 2022, and he has now admitted that the move to the Spanish capital helped him improve as a footballer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Trippier had to improve defensively at Atletico

Speaking about his decision to leave Spurs, Trippier told The Overlap: “[I needed] a change. I had a talk with Pochettino and Daniel Levy at the time and I was not getting the answers I wanted, in the sense of whether I’m a part of the plans or not. But that’s fine, players and managers come and go, and it is about trying to find that next step.

“Atlético Madrid came in and I just said to the manager straight away that I wanted to sign for them. I was then in Madrid straight away and I have never looked back since, it was an unbelievable journey.

“When I went to Atlético Madrid people were saying it was the wrong move for me, saying I wouldn’t make it past the halfway line. Diego Simeone encouraged me to go forward as much as I could. He got me into some positions where I thought it was so simple.

“When I first went there, Simeone said, ‘I need to improve your defending’ – as blunt as that. I was a bit suspect [defending] in my last year at Tottenham, getting caught out, playing people on side and it’s all about fine margins. I just wanted the season to end [at Tottenham], I felt like I was getting suffocated because I wasn’t performing.

“Simeone worked with me for so many hours, just me and him on the training pitch after training, showing me clips of other players.

“With Simeone, if you break his trust that is it, you’re done. It is about being on time, respect for everybody else and on the pitch, you have to run. If you do not run for him, it doesn’t matter how much you are paid, you are gone. It is there for everyone to see, you have to run for him.

“He always used to put me up against players like Thomas Lemar or [Yannick] Carrasco, different types of wingers where Carrasco is someone who will chop you and Lemar is one of those who will just run in behind you. He was very clever in the players he would put me up against.

“I look back on it now and I think he did it on purpose to see how I would cope. He also used to work me on positioning, when to go forward, and when not to go forward. He was intelligent, and I learned so much from him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Trippier’s defending in his last season at Tottenham did leave a lot to be desired and one can understand why Pochettino made the decision to offload him at the time.

However, looking back, there is no doubt that Spurs made an error by letting him go in 2019 as the England international might have enjoyed playing under the likes of Conte.

Description

Paul Robinson has urged Tottenham to complete a deal for Youssef En-Nesyri, predicting that the Sevilla star would score plenty of goals for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham are interested in Youssef En-Nesyri

En-Nesyri has emerged as one of the most prolific marksmen in La Liga over the last two seasons, with the striker netting 20 goals across all competitions in 2023-24.

A whole host of outlets have reported over recent weeks that Sevilla are ready to cash in on the 27-year-old and that Tottenham are circling over him.

This includes an update by Diario de Sevilla, which suggested that Sevilla want a quick sale of En-Nesyri due to their current financial situation and are hoping to get around €30m (£25.5m) for the striker.

The report explained that Spurs and West Ham had both expressed an interest in the Moroccan international but neither club had made an offer for the player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Would En-Nesyri be a good fit at Tottenham?

Robinson believes that the Sevilla star has the attributes to thrive in the Premier League, insisting that he is the kind of player that the Lilywhites need.

When asked about Tottenham’s interest in En-Nesyri, the former Spurs goalkeeper told Tottenham News: “He’s a good player; I like him. He’s played at the top level, scored goals, and proven himself at the international level and in La Liga.

“He’s led the line well for Sevilla and plays the way that Ange Postecoglou wants to play—on the front foot and with hard yards.

“He’ll flourish in the Premier League. It’s the type of league that he will enjoy; he’ll score goals, and he’s a player that I like.

“He makes very good runs, he’s intelligent, and he’s of an age now where he’s scoring goals regularly and has proven himself at the top level.”

Spurs Web Opinion

En-Nesyri is a decent option and perhaps a player who will add something different to the Tottenham squad.

However, if Spurs are to offload Richarlison, they would need to ideally replace him with a top-class number nine who can guarantee 20-plus goals a year and En-Nesyri is not quite at that level.

Description

According to the print edition of The Daily Star (as relayed by Football.London), Ange Postecoglou has now told Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg that he is free to find a new club.

Hojbjerg is expected to leave Spurs this summer

Hojbjerg has just a year left on his contract at Tottenham and a whole host of outlets over the past few months have talked up the possibility of the midfielder departing the North London club this summer.

The latest to do so is The Daily Star, who say that Postecoglou himself has now given the green light for the 28-year-old to be sold.

The report claims that Tottenham have told interested clubs that the former Southampton man is available for £20m.

Hojbjerg given the green light to leave by Ange

The Denmark international, who is currently at the Euros, is said to be on the radars of Atletico Madrid, Fenerbahce, Napoli and Juventus.

It is explained that Atletico would be able to afford a deal for the Tottenham star, having taken both Memphis Depay and Stevan Savic off their wage bill.

The Star adds that Spurs are also listening to offers for Ben Davies and Oliver Skipp at the moment.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Hojbjerg, Emerson Royal, Giovani Lo Celso and Djed Spence are nailed on to depart the club.

However, Postecoglou faces a harder decision on Davies and Skipp, given Tottenham’s shortage of homegrown and club-trained players.

Description

According to TEAMtalk, Al-Ittihad could make a move for Son Heung-min if they are unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah this summer.

What’s next for Heung-min Son at Spurs?

While there has been a lot of speculation over Son’s future lately, a number of outlets have continued to maintain that Tottenham are confident their captain will put pen to paper on a new long-term contract this summer (Football Insider).

The forward himself rubbished the rumours last week, admitting that he is ‘uncomfortable’ with the speculation and insisting that he has no plans of leaving the Premier League (The Mirror).

However, according to TEAMtalk, the Tottenham superstar continues to be on the radar of Al-Ittihad, who are trying to bolster their forward line with a marquee signing.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Al-Ittihad could come calling for Sonny

It is explained that their top target is Salah, with the Saudi club planning to make a new ‘monster’ attempt to land the Egyptian.

However, that deal is not thought to be progressing a the rate that they want and they are thus said to be considering moving for other alternatives, including Son.

While Al-Ittihad have not reached out to the Spurs star just yet, it is explained that they will explore a deal for the 31-year-old should their Salah pursuit fall through.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not expect Son to consider leaving the Premier League at this stage as he has barely shown any signs of physical decline and continues to be at the peak of his powers.

He also seems fully committed to the current project at N17, which is why I would be surprised if his head is turned by the Saudi money.

Report: Tottenham plotting a move for former Man City forward - The Spurs Web
Description

According to the print edition of The Sunday Express (page 66 via TBR Football), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.

Tottenham are interested in Ferran Torres

Torres has not quite lived up to expectations since swapping Manchester City for Barca two and a half years ago but he has still chipped in with a decent number of goals.

The versatile forward, who can operate across the front three, scored 11 goals and provided four assists last season in 42 matches across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The Sunday Express say that Barca are now ready to cash in on the striker this summer as they need to raise funds before they can make a move to sign Joao Cancelo permanently.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ferran Torres is up for sale this summer

Tottenham are said to have been alerted by the Spain international’s availability but they are not alone, with Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham United also thought to be ready to offer Torres a route back to the Premier League.

The Catalan giants have allegedly informed the interested parties that the 24-year-old is available for a fee of £30m.

Torres played 43 times and scored 16 goals for Man City during his last spell in England, including nine goals in the Premier League (TransferMarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Torres is a good stylistic fit for Ange’s system and his versatility will give the Australian a lot of options.

However, the Spaniard is still lacking a little in terms of end product and is not the sort of signing that would elevate the Spurs side to the next level.

Report explains why Spurs are now unlikely to sign Chelsea star this summer - The Spurs Web
Description

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has confirmed that while Tottenham do like Trevoh Chalobah, the centre-back will be looking for regular game time amidst any transfer this summer.

Tottenham like Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah

According to various reports over the last few weeks, Chalobah is one of several players that Chelsea are expected to cash in on as soon as the transfer market opens, with the Blues needing to raise funds to ensure they do not fall foul of PSR (The Times).

Several outlets have reported recently that Tottenham are expected to push ahead with a move for the 24-year-old as Ange Postecoglou seeks to bolster his options at the back (The Telegraph).

The Standard reported on May 31 that Spurs could have competition to contend with from Man Utd for the defender, with the Red Devils said to be big fans of the England international.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Trevoh Chalobah will want regular game time

Gold has now revealed that Tottenham have held a ‘long-term interest’ in Chalobah and are continuing to monitor his situation.

However, the journalist explains that the defender would expect to be a regular starter at his next club, having played regularly for Chelsea last season after returning from his injury.

Gold points out that Ange Postecoglou may not be able to offer Chalobha any sort of guarantees, given the centre-backs the Australian has at his disposal.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is Tottenham’s biggest problem when it comes to their search for a new centre-back.

No promising young defender is going to be particularly keen on being the fourth choice and getting the odd game here and there.

Description

According to GiveMeSport, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is expected to leave Tottenham this summer, has now emerged as a target for Fulham.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to leave Spurs

It is no secret that Hojbjerg’s four-year stay at Tottenham is expected to come to an end this summer, with the Dane having just a year left on his deal.

The 28-year-old is currently focused on Denmark’s European Championship campaign but speculation over his future continues to run rife.

The likes of Atletico Madrid (Daily Mail), Napoli (Corriere dello Sport) and Fenerbahce (Takvim) have all been credited with an interest in the midfielder over recent weeks.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Fulham enter race for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

GiveMeSport have now claimed that Fulham are also eyeing a move for the experienced Tottenham man.

The report explains that the Cottagers are keen to add a number six to their squad to replace Bayern Munich-bound Joao Palhinha, and they have identified Hojbejrg and Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips as their two top targets.

However, the publication adds that a move to Craven Cottage ‘does not seem likely’ for the former Southampton man at this stage.

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Fulham have held a long-term interest in Hojbjerg, having explored a deal for him last summer as well.

However, the Dane would probably want to join a club where he can win silverware, which is why Napoli, Atletico or Juve appear more likely destinations for him.

'Inevitable' - Journalist provides update on Eberechi Eze amid Spurs rumours - The Spurs Web
Description

Journalist Dean Jones has said that despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace remain hopeful that Eberechi Eze will still be at Selhurst Park at the start of next season.

Tottenham are interested in Eberechi Eze

Eze is currently with the England squad at the Euros but the speculation over his future continues to run rife back home.

The 25-yea-rold has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent weeks, with The Sun reporting a week and a half ago that Ange Postecoglou’s men are in the driver’s seat to win the race for the attacking midfielder despite facing competition from Manchester United.

Just a few days ago, Football Insider claimed that Tottenham and Man Utd would both be prepared to meet Eze’s £60m release clause as both clubs are keen to land the player.

Subsequently, Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe also confirmed that the former QPR star is one of the North London club’s top targets this summer and the the Lilywhites are considering making an offer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Crystal Palace still want to keep Eberechi Eze

Jones has now revealed that Chelsea are also on Eze’s trail but the journalist asserted that the Eagles are hopeful of holding onto the player.

He told GiveMeSport: “Crystal Palace remain hopeful they could cling on to Eze for another year.

“It has been revealed he has a clause in his contract that is £60million guaranteed fee plus an extra £8 million in add-ons and in this current market, where so many teams are balancing their books and battling PSR, it’s a fee that not many sides can get to.

“There is potential Chelsea or Tottenham come up with the bid to trigger it but at the same time both those clubs have other priorities to attend to and making an outlay so significant on Eze would be a very bold move. Palace would love to keep hold of Eze for now.

“They know it’s inevitable he will move on at some stage but you never want all your best players to leave at the same time.”

Spurs Web Opinion

£68m is a hefty fee and it sounds like Palace will not let Eze leave unless that release clause is met.

However, if the 25-year-old is Ange’s top target, Spurs should not hesitate to pay the clause and bring the midfielder to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
