Description

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur hold a strong interest in Leeds United starlet Archie Gray as they look for a right-back to replace Emerson Royal.

Tottenham need a new right-back this summer

Gold confirms that Emerson is on his way out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, thus causing the Lilywhites to be on the lookout for a competent backup to Pedro Porro.

He says that Spurs are big fans of Gray, having watched him closely in his breakthrough season at Elland Road in 2023-24.

However, he points out that Tottenham are not alone in their admiration for the 18-year-old, with a host of Premier League clubs also eyeing the youngster.

Tottenham like the look of Archie Gray

Gold says that Ange Postecoglou’s men are expected to face plenty of competition for the right-back, who will not come cheap as he only signed a new contract at Leeds back in January.

The journalist adds that although there is a feeling at Spurs that Gray might be perfectly suited for the inverted full-back role, the teenager might want to remain at his boyhood club and continue playing regularly for the time being.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs test the water with an actual bid.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gray ticks a lot of boxes for Spurs, being young, homegrown and possessing the attributes to play in Postecoglou’s system.

Tottenham’s chances of landing the youngster might depend on Ange’s ability to convince the teenager that he would get game time next season.

Description

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has confirmed that a move for Rennes star Desire Doue has been explored by the North London side.

Who is Desire Doue?

Spurs’ interest in Doue first came to light last month when journalist Abdellah Boulma stated that Ange Postecoglou’s men are circling over the winger.

A few days later, The Daily Mail also backed up that claim, adding that the 19-year-old is also on the radars of Man Utd and Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.

The outlet asserted that it would take a fee of over £35m to prise the midfielder away from Roazhon Park this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are interested in Desire Doue

At the start of this month, TBR Football revealed that Tottenham had already reached out to Rennes over a deal for the youngster.

Interestingly, the publication suggested that the Lilywhites were also exploring a move for his older brother, Guela, who plays as a right-back for Rennes.

O Keefe has now taken to social media to confirm that a move for Desire Doue has been discussed at Hotspur Way.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising that Tottenham have studied Doue closely, given the way the teenager has progressed over the last 12 months.

However, the Frenchman is likely to be one of many midfield options that Spurs have looked at and there is nothing to suggest that a bid is imminent for the Rennes star.

Will paying Ndombele off impact Tottenham’s PSR situation? – Expert explains - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans may be relieved to see Tanguy Ndombele off the clubs books finally, but the termination of the Frenchman’s contract may only have brought a ‘small benefit’ for the club, while having more of a negative impact from a financial point of view.

Tottenham pay Tanguy Ndombele to leave the club

After five years as a Tottenham player, with the last two years spent on loan at Napoli and Galatasaray, Ndombele will finally leave the club this summer on a free transfer.

It was announced last week that Tottenham had agreed a mutual termination of Ndombele’s contract, with the player set to leave North London on July 1st (BBC).

Speaking in the wake of the announcement on social media (via Football.London), Ndombele insisted he ‘learned a lot’ during his time with Spurs.

Apparently, Ndombele has already been offered to Barcelona, though it remains to be seen whether the Catalan club will take up that option (Gerard Romero via Barca Universal).

Ndombele termination will not hurt Spurs with PSR

That contract termination is thought to have cost Tottenham £5m, and financial expert Stefan Borson has been discussing the implications of this decision.

Speaking to Football Insider, Borson said: “There are not many benefits of terminating a contract from a PSR perspective but Spurs do not need to worry about that. They end up taking a write-off on his book value in this current year which will show up in the accounts as a loss on impairment.

“It accelerates the wages as well but I assume what they’ve done is agreed a discount to what he would have been paid if he stayed for a full year. So there could be a small benefit there but really I think this is more housekeeping.

“At the end of the day, they want him out of the club and so they take the hit and move on as they have enough PSR flexibility to be able to take those sorts of decisions.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Obviously, terminating Ndombele’s contract is far from ideal, but the club must have known that no one was coming in with any offers for the Frenchman this summer, so cutting their losses was the best and only option.

Report: Tottenham hold 'initial talks' over potential deal for Italy international - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are one of a number of clubs making moves for Bologna’s highly-rated centre-back, Riccardo Calafiori, and are thought to have held ‘initial talks’ for the Italy international.

Riccardo Calafiori is shining at Euro 2024

Calafiori‘s stock has risen already this week, with the 22-year-old putting in an impressive display in Italy’s opening game of Euro 2024.

He’s coming off the back of a strong campaign with his club, too, with 37 appearances, two goals, and five assists for Bologna last season (Transfermarkt) as they secured a top-five finish in Serie A.

Spurs are big admirers of the defender and, despite intense competition for his signature, the Lilywhites are thought to be maintaining their pursuit of the player (TuttoJuve).

Just last week, CalcioMercato claimed Juventus had agreed personal terms with Calafiori ahead of a proposed transfer this summer. It has been suggested the player would prefer to stay in his native Italy (Alfredo Pedulla).

Spurs making moves for Calafiori

However, the latest update from CaughtOffside claims Spurs have initiated their approach for the young defender with a €35m (£29.5m) transfer mooted.

The report states Chelsea, Newcastle United, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Napoli are all circling, while Juventus is believed to be Calafiori’s preferred destination.

It is Spurs and Newcastle who are making moves, though, with “initial talks” already taking place to assess the situation. Apparently, “a number of clubs” are also scouting the Italy star at Euro 2024.

Calafiori is thought to be keen to link up with his former manager, Thiago Motta, at Juventus, but would be “open” to a Premier League switch, too. Still, Bologna do not want to give him up “without a fight,” not least of all because 40% of any transfer fee would go to his former club, Basel.

Spurs Web Opinion

Riccardo Calafiori is absolutely top-class, and will only get better. To have him in our central defensive unit would give us one of the best quartets in the world, to be honest, and the thought of making that happen is so tantalising. I can’t see him leaving Italy though, sadly.

Description

Leeds United may be keen on keeping Joe Rodon at the club permanently, but the Tottenham defender has a lot of interest from a number of Premier League clubs heading into the summer transfer window.

What next for Joe Rodon at Tottenham?

Rodon is coming off the back of a brilliant season with Leeds in the Championship, making 50 appearances for the Yorkshire side as they came within one game of securing promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Leeds lost in the play-off final to Southampton, leaving Rodon’s future in doubt. It is well known that Leeds are hoping to keep hold of the defender, but they needed promotion to improve the chances of that happening (Football Insider).

Tottenham are thought to regard Rodon as surplus to requirements, but they did just activate a one-year contract extension to ensure they receive a fee for the player this summer (Football.London).

It has previously been suggested that multiple Premier League clubs are ready to offer Rodon a route back to the top flight (Daily Mail).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Leeds are not in a good position to sign Rodon

Now, a report from Football.London sheds some light on that interest from the Premier League, and where Leeds stand now.

It is said Rodon will be part of a “defensive exodus” at Tottenham this summer, with Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton among those that have shown an interest in the Welshman.

Now a “man in demand,” it is believed Ipswich have held a “strong interest” in Rodon since last summer, while Leicester’s recruitment team are “keen” on the centre-half. Southampton have reportedly “signalled their interest,” too.

There are “a string of further Premier League clubs” monitoring the situation, and while Leeds “remain in the mix,” the failure to gain promotion and the subsequent financial impact on the club means they are no longer in a “strong position” when it comes to this particular deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Whichever club ends up getting Rodon this summer, they’re going to get a top defender and it’s only just that he gets to show what he can do in the Premier League finally.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham could have quite a bit of competition to contend with in the race for Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo this summer.

Tottenham like the look of Takefusa Kubo

A couple of days ago, it was reported that Spurs had made their first move for Kubo by submitting an offer of around €50m (£43m) for the Japan international (TeamTALK).

The report stated that although Kubo’s release clause stands at €60m (£51.4m), Spurs are ‘determined’ to sign the player for less than the stipulated clause.

It was explained that while Real Sociedad wanted to keep hold of the attacker, Tottenham’s offer is quite ‘tempting’ for the La Liga side, who might ‘seriously consider’ accepting it.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Competition could intensify for Takefusa Kubo

Mundo Deportivo have also credited Tottenham with an interest in Kubo but they state that Sociedad have not received any offers for their star man until now.

However, that is expected to change soon, with Ange Postecoglou’s men said to have shown a willingness to launch a bid for the 23-year-old.

The outlet reveals that four other Premier League clubs have also enquired about Kubo, with Liverpool and Man Utd named as long-time admirers of the winger.

The publication adds that Sociedad would only let Kubo leave this summer if his release clause is met.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like Tottenham are keen to get a head start on the competition by making an early offer for Kubo.

The existence of the release clause should make the deal relatively straightforward to complete but it remains to be seen if Spurs would be prepared to pay the amount.

Tottenham insider says Spurs laughed off one recent transfer rumour - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has suggested that the decision-makers at Spurs laughed off the speculation linking Tammy Abraham with a move to the North London club.

Tottenham linked with Tammy Abraham move

Over the past few weeks, various outlets have suggested that Roma are ready to cash in on Abraham this summer and that Tottenham might be willing to offer the striker a route back to the Premier League (The Telegraph).

Last week, the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) suggested that Spurs are battling Villa for the 26-year-old’s signature and claimed that Unai Emery’s men are favourites to land the player.

Just a few days ago, TBR Football reported that the Lilywhites are seriously tempted to make an offer for the former Chelsea man after hearing that the Gialorossi are willing to sell him for just £28m.

Tottenham laughed off Tammy Abraham links

However, O’Keefe has now rubbished the rumours linking Abraham with a move to Ange Postecoglou’s side, stating on social media that the rumours were laughed off by his sources at Tottenham.

He tweeted: ‘I was told Spurs laughed at that one. Unless a really terrible bluff I don’t see that.’

Spurs Web Opinion

Not only would Abraham not be an upgrade on Richarlison but there are also serious concerns about the England international’s fitness, which is why the transfer rumours never made much sense.

Ivan Toney seems to be the obvious target to go for this summer if they want an English striker.

West Ham exploring move to sign player who only recently left Spurs - Journalist - The Spurs Web
Description

Journalist Ben Jacobs has said that West Ham United are now exploring the potential signing of Ryan Sessegnon on a free transfer after the left-back’s contract with Tottenham ran out.

Ryan Sessegnon left Tottenham this month

Sessegnon’s Tottenham nightmare came to an end earlier this month, with the Lilywhites choosing against taking up the one-year option to extend his contract and allowing him to leave the club as a free agent.

The left-back’s five-year stay at the North London club was constantly interrupted by injuries and the former Fulham man will now hope to keep fit for a sustained period of time so that he can get his career back on track.

It remains to be seen where Sessegnon ends up, with The Athletic reporting last week that the former England Under-21 international could return to Craven Cottage.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Could Sessegnon join West Ham on a free?

The report claimed that Marco Silva’s men are keen to offer competition to Antonee Robinson at left-back and have set their sights on their academy graduate.

However, Jacobs has now revealed that the Cottagers could face competition for the departed Tottenham man from London rivals West Ham.

When asked about the speculation over the 24-year-old’s future, the journalist told FulhamFanNews: “With Ryan Sessegnon, I think West Ham were giving that one a look.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Wherever Sessegnon goes, one would hope that he is able to stay injury-free for at least one full season as there is clearly some talent there.

I would not be surprised if the left-back chooses to return to the familiar surroundings of Craven Cottage.

Journalist provides Federico Chiesa update amid Tottenham Hotspur links - The Spurs Web
Description

Journalist Rudy Galetti has said that AS Roma have reached out to the representatives of rumoured Tottenham target, Federico Chiesa regarding a summer move to the Stadio Olimpico.

Spurs were linked to Chiesa in February

Back in Back in February, Football Transfers suggested that Tottenham are also keeping a close eye on Chiesa’s situation at Juventus since the winger’s contract at the Allianz Stadium only runs until 2025.

It now looks increasingly likely that the 26-year-old’s time at the Allianz Stadium will come to an end this summer, with Fabrizio Romano stating a couple of days ago that the Bianconeri are ready to listen to offers for the Italy international.

However, Romano suggested that a transfer is only likely to materialise after the Euros as the player is currently focused on doing well in the tournament for the Azzurri.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What next for Federico Chiesa?

Galetti has now reported something quite similar, stating that Chiesa’s future will be decided after the Euros.

Interestingly, the journalist explained the winger wants to remain at Juve but some ‘gaps had emerged’ when his entourage last met with the club’s hierarchy.

He adds that Roma have already reached out to the former Fiorentina man’s agent while Napoli are also keen on acquiring his services.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given Chiesa’s contract situation, Juve would have to sell the attacker this summer if they are unable to agree a new deal with him.

One would expect a few sides to test the waters with offers for the winger over the next few weeks.

Report: Spurs haven't made an offer for La Liga striker yet, but it's coming soon - The Spurs Web
Description

Despite rumours that Tottenham Hotspur had been knocked back in their attempt to sign Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad recently, the latest report on the situation claims no offer has been sent yet, but that one is on the way.

Tottenham want to sign a new winger this summer

Kubo has had an interesting career so far, having joined Barcelona as a youngster before returning to his native Japan four years later.

He then joined Real Madrid in 2019, but never made an appearance for the Spanish giants, instead going out on loan to Mallorca, Getafe, and Villarreal before joining Real Sociedad permanently in 2022.

The winger had a decent 2023/24 campaign for Sociedad, registering seven goals and five assists across 41 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham planning an offer for Kubo

Now, the Japan international is a wanted man, with particular attention coming from the Premier League this summer. But, no formal offers have been sent to Real Sociedad just yet, according to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness).

The report claims Tottenham are joined by Manchester United and Liverpool in being admirers of Kubo, but suggestions that Spurs had already had a £50m offer rejected by Sociedad are far off the mark.

Despite this, it is thought Kubo is on the wishlist for Spurs this summer, and enquiries have been made for a player they are “very interested” in.

Kubo’s current contract is said to run until 2029 and contains a €60m (£50.7m) release clause. Of that, €33m (£27.9m) would go to Sociedad, while the rest would be sent to Real Madrid as part of a sell-on clause.

The report adds that Tottenham “want Kubo and plan to make an offer” for the 23-year-old this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I like the look of Kubo, and I could definitely see him fitting into our system. Whether we can afford him along with the other players we want to sign, I’m not sure, but he would be a great addition to the squad.
