Report: Roma are bracing themselves for offers as Spurs monitor 26-year-old - The Spurs Web
Description

The Telegraph have revealed that AS Roma are now bracing themselves for an offer for Tammy Abraham as Tottenham Hotspur and other Premier League clubs circle over the striker.

Roma are bracing themselves for Tammy Abraham offers

It has been widely reported over the last few months that Spurs are in the market for a number nine and TEAMtalk were the first to report last week that Abraham is one of the options on the North London club’s wishlist.

Tottenham’s interest in the former Chelsea man was subsequently backed up by Il Messaggero a couple of days ago, with the outlet suggesting that Roma could let the 26-year-old leave for around €22m-€25m (£18.5m-£21m) this summer.

Spurs currently have Richarlison, Heung-min Son, Dane Scarlett, Alejo Veliz and Troy Parrott within their striker ranks in North London.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are yet to make a decision

The Telegraph have now become the latest publication to report on Abraham’s future, stating that Spurs, Aston Villa and West Ham United are all monitoring the striker’s situation.

The Gialorossi are said to be expecting offers to come their way sooner rather than later, with the centre-forward also thought to be on the radars of several clubs across the continent.

However, it is explained that Ange Postecgolou’s men have not made a firm decision on whether to push ahead with a move for Abraham while Villa are only expected to pursue the England international if they lose Jhon Duran.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be extremely surprised if Tottenham decide to push ahead with a move for Abraham this summer as I do not think the Roma star would be an upgrade on Richarlison.

There are better options on the market this summer and we ideally need a striker who guarantees 20-plus goals in order to challenge the likes of Manchester City next season.

Pundit backs Spurs to pay £60m in order to secure 'huge' transfer this summer

Pundit backs Spurs to pay £60m in order to secure 'huge' transfer this summer - The Spurs Web
Description

According to former Spurs defender turned pundit, Alan Hutton, Tottenham Hotspur should pull out all the stops to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer, with a ‘huge’ bid expected.

Tottenham are interested in Eberechi Eze

After a stunning final half of the season, Palace earned plenty of plaudits, and Eze attracted a lot of attention to himself. The playmaker ended the campaign with 11 goals and four assists (Transfermarkt).

Eze is now with the England squad for Euro 2024, but all the talk around him involves a transfer away from Crystal Palace this summer.

At the start of the month, it was suggested Tottenham would look to open discussions with Palace in the coming weeks (Football Transfers).

However, the Lilywhites are expected to face fierce competition from Manchester United in the race to sign the 25-year-old (Football Insider).

Spurs ready to break transfer record for Eze, says Hutton

Either way, it looks like Spurs may have to break their transfer record to secure the signing of Eze (TEAMtalk). Still, Alan Hutton thinks they should make the transfer happen regardless.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said: “Chats and conversations aren’t always public, I imagine they’re going on in the background. He’s an outstanding footballer, really talented, and would make that team better. He comes in and he starts, whether it be as a number ten or wherever he wants to play, he starts.

“It’s going to be a huge fee. We’re talking about £50m or £60m. It’ll be a huge fee, but the connection with his agent can help. For somebody who’s so talented and at a good age, he goes out and plays with a smile on his face, with a lot of freedom and so much attacking quality.

“He scores goals, he gets assists, these are the types of guys you need. £60m is about right when you look at prices being banded about for players who aren’t as good as him. If he’s available for that price, Levy will spend it.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If we are really serious about competing at the very top of the game, we have to be going out and making signings like Eberechi Eze.

As Hutton says, this is a player that improves our team immediately, and £60m is not even a bad price for the quality he brings.

With reports suggesting Real Madrid are trying to sign Cristian Romero, it is thought Tottenham Hotspur are looking to quash those rumours as quickly as possible.

Cristian Romero had a superb 2023/24 season

Since arriving in England, there’s no doubt Romero has established himself as one of the best centre-halves in the Premier League.

His displays for Argentina as they won the Copa America and then the 2022 World Cup even helped him earn a reputation as one of the best in the world.

And, last season for Spurs, Romero stepped up his game and added an air of composure that we had not previously seen. Between reducing his disciplinary issues and taking on the vice-captaincy at Tottenham, the 26-year-old is flourishing this year.

It goes without saying, then, that Romero is one of the most important players in Ange Postecoglou‘s squad, and an almost indispensable figure at the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham have no interest in Cristian Romero speculation

However, via a report from ESPN Argentina (relayed by Mundo Albiceleste) this week, it emerged that Real Madrid hold an interest in Romero and had already contacted Spurs to discuss whether a deal could be struck.

Now, according to Football.London, Tottenham are keen to put the matter to bed and stop the rumour mill from turning when it comes to Romero.

Apparently, the Lilywhites are “distancing themselves from any such reports” suggesting Romero is involved in any kind of potential transfer discussions this summer.

Romero has previously said: “I want to have my best years here. I really like the Premier League, I really like Tottenham and I want to be here for many more years to come.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m not being dramatic when I say that losing Romero to Real Madrid would be disastrous for Spurs.

He is the key to our defence, and will no doubt be our permanent captain in the near future if he sticks around. It’s not surprising Madrid want him, but we cannot entertain that idea at all.

Coach says one Tottenham star 'has no ceiling' in football

'Pure class' - Coach says one Tottenham star 'has no ceiling' in football - The Spurs Web
Description

Volendam boss Wim Jonk, who oversaw Micky van de Ven’s development as a teenager, believes that the Tottenham star does not have a ceiling and could become as good as he wants to be.

Micky Van de Ven tipped for the very top

Van de Ven has had a meteoric rise over the past two years, first coming to the spotlight during his breakthrough 2022-23 season at Wolfsburg before making a big-money move to Tottenham and hitting the ground running in the hardest league in the world.

In fact, just a year into his time with Spurs, many already consider the 23-year-old to be one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, with the Dutchman dominating some of the best strikers in the division, owing to his strength, recovery pace and composure.

Van de Ven is expected to have an important role to play for the Netherlands in the upcoming Euros and Ronald Koeman may utilise him at left-back, with the defender having operated in that position in recent friendlies.

Micky Van de Ven prepares for Netherlands campaign

Jonk, who saw the centre-back come through the ranks at Volendam, revealed that he always knew the Spurs man was destined for great things.

The 57-year-old told ESPN Netherlands: “I went to see the under-19s, not even especially for Micky. I remember him running past everyone – and as a defender, right? He showed so much courage with the ball, so much potential.

“Of course, a lot went wrong, but I thought: if we work specifically with that boy, in a few years he will not be wearing the shirt of ‘The Other Orange’, but that of the real Orange.

“We worked very specifically on his areas for improvement, but also on his weapons. The rising, the quicker response, the cross pass. He worked on the defensive aspect with Sipke Hulshoff. And don’t forget that about 5 to 10 kilos of muscle mass was added during that time.

“Defensively, he picked up every ball that fell behind the defence. Offensively, he always created a man-more situation, whether he played in the centre or on the left. I remember a goal where he came through at left-back, sprinted everyone out and sent the ball into the intersection. Pure class.

“Micky has no ceiling. Everything you need in today’s football – physical conditions, mental strength and the right mindset – he has that.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Euro 2024 will be the first of many major international tournaments for Van de Ven over his career and I expect him to dominate, just like he has done across every bigger step he has taken over the last few years.

Alasdair Gold predicts whether Fabio Paratici is still involved with Spurs

'Keep listening' - Alasdair Gold predicts whether Fabio Paratici is still involved with Spurs - The Spurs Web
Description

Despite a total restructure behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur over the last 12 months, Alasdair Gold has admitted he would be ‘stunned’ if Fabio Paratici was not still feeding the club at least a bit of advice in the transfer market.

Fabio Paratici left Tottenham in 2023

Paratici has not been employed by Tottenham on a full-time basis since receiving a global ban from football last April, after being found guilty of involvement in Juventus’ financial scandal.

Since then, that ban has been altered and certain restrictions lifted, allowing Paratici to act on a consultancy basis — something he did with Spurs last summer.

The Italian is thought to have been involved in the acquisitions of Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario, while he was instrumental in earlier signings of Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, and Rodrigo Bentancur, too.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Is Fabio Paratici still involved with Spurs?

Now, Spurs have the likes of Johan Lange and Scott Munn overseeing recruitment at the club, but is Paratici still involved? Alasdair Gold thinks he could be, as he explained in a recent instalment of The Last Word on Spurs.

He said: “I would be stunned if there is still not a little bit of advice coming his way to Spurs and [Daniel] Levy at times.

“But… for the whole idea and the sanctity of this new recruitment team, hopefully, he’s not as involved as he was in that first window under Ange as he had to be.”

Gold added: “Like I say, I would be stunned if he’s not still making the odd recommendation of stuff because he had Levy’s ear and, to be fair to him, there weren’t many misses under his tenure either.

“So I guess when you get someone you kind of trust in that market in terms of recommendations, you’ll probably keep listening to them.”

Spurs Web Opinion

As long as Paratici isn’t getting in the way and treading on toes, I don’t think it hurts to have someone like him on the peripheries of the club, giving advice when needed.

Every single Euro 2024 fixture featuring a Tottenham player this summer - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur will have four players participating in Euro 2024 over the next month: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Guglielmo Vicario, Radu Dragusin, and Micky van de Ven. Here’s when you can watch them all in action.

Football fans around the world will likely be putting club football aside for the next month, as Euro 2024 kicks off and international teams become the priority.

Tottenham don’t have quite as many players representing their countries as they may have expected or hoped this year, but there are still four players out in Germany competing for the top prize.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Of the four Spurs players in Germany this summer, Hojbjerg is far and away the most experienced at international level, and will likely be a staple in the midfield for Denmark. Here are his fixtures:

Guglielmo Vicario

Unfortunately, it’s very likely Vicario will not play at all for Italy, as Gianluigi Donnarumma is established as the number-one keeper for the Azzurri. Here are his fixtures:

MORE SPURS STORIES

Radu Dragusin

He may not be part of the first-choice defensive partnership at Spurs, but Dragusin is a regular for his country now and should be involved in all three group games. Here are his fixtures:

Micky van de Ven

He finished the season at left-back for Spurs and has been filling that role for the Netherlands of late, too, so should get a decent amount of game time for his country. Here are van de Ven’s fixtures:

Conor Gallagher opens up on his Chelsea future amid Spurs links

'I'm really excited' - Conor Gallagher opens up on his Chelsea future amid Spurs links - The Spurs Web
Description

Conor Gallagher is a wanted man this summer, but his latest comments appear to suggest he is firmly committed to staying at Chelsea rather than making a move elsewhere.

Tottenham are interested in Conor Gallagher this summer

With Chelsea facing financial issues amid talk of breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the Blues are reportedly looking to sell players, with Gallagher mentioned as a likely departure (Football Insider).

Spurs are thought to be keen on the England international, and have been for over a year now, with Ange Postecoglou eager to upgrade his midfield options in the summer.

The Lilywhites face competition from Aston Villa (The Guardian) for the player, who is now entering the final year of his contract with Chelsea.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Conor Gallagher may not want to leave Chelsea

A £40m price tag has been mooted for Gallagher (TEAMtalk), but luring him away from Chelsea may be more difficult than expected. That’s largely due to the player himself not being receptive to a transfer.

Discussing the speculation with the press (via Fabrizio Romano), Gallagher played down any idea of leaving Chelsea, and said: “My full focus is on the Euros. I couldn’t be happier with the position I’m in.

“It was sad to see Pochettino go. He’s done so much for me, but I’m really excited for the new manager coming in and to start working with him.”

Gallagher impressed under the management of Pochettino last season, with the former Spurs boss handing him the captaincy while he was in charge of the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m sorry, but Conor Gallagher is not going anywhere this summer. He so obviously wants to stay at Chelsea and the fans would go ballistic if the club actually sanctioned his sale.

As a boyhood Chelsea fan it is clear that he wants to remain at Stamford Bridge and sign a new deal, rather than join Spurs or Aston Villa.

I’m sure Chelsea can find other ways to raise the funds they need to get in line with PSR, and we do have other options for that midfield role if that does happen anyway. It would be nice to sign Gallagher, but it’s not essential.

Report: Spurs could look to break transfer record to sign Premier League striker - The Spurs Web
Description

With Newcastle United reportedly close to breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), it is thought Tottenham Hotspur could look to break their own transfer record by signing Alexander Isak from the Magpies.

Should Tottenham make a move for Alexander Isak?

Tottenham are known to be looking to sign a top striker this summer, to finally fill the void left behind by Harry Kane last summer.

Although Heung-min Son and Richarlison both contributed a healthy amount of goals, it is clear that the former is not quite suited to the number 9 role, while the latter has injury concerns that prevent him from playing consistently.

So, a number of names have been linked to Spurs ahead of the summer transfer window. One striker who has been mentioned from time to time is Isak, though previous reports have suggested he may be too expensive (The Athletic), and may be on the verge of signing a new contract with Newcastle (TBR Football).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Is Alexander Isak leaving Newcastle United?

Now, the latest from Football Insider suggests Tottenham may see Isak as the ideal “marquee” signing for this summer, and would be ready to break their transfer record to take him off Newcastle’s hands.

It is thought such a big signing would then be “supplemented by less expensive deals” as Ange Postecoglou looks to continue the upgrade of his squad.

Spurs are reportedly preparing a “huge” bid to test Newcastle’s resolve. The Magpies are believed to be in a position where they need to sell someone this summer, but they are keen to keep Isak if possible.

Spurs Web Opinion

I haven’t even really considered this signing before, as it just feels so unattainable, but if we could bring Isak in, he would instantly take us to the next level.

He’s prolific, can create chances for himself, and eats up anything that comes his way in the box, too. Make it happen, Spurs, please.

Report names 11 Tottenham players who could leave the club this summer - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are clearing the deck this summer, it seems. With players already being released, and sales being lined up, The Times has cited 11 Spurs players set for the exit.

Tottenham set for a summer reshuffle at Hotspur Way

Ange Postecoglou clearly has a very good idea of what players he does and doesn’t want at Tottenham.

In just a year, we’ve seen a strong footballing philosophy implemented at the club, leading to a much-improved fifth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.

However, the work is far from over. The Lilywhites are believed to be looking to recruit in a number of positions this summer, which means the exit could be looming for a fair few members of the current squad.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Exit door wide open at Spurs this summer

The latest from The Times focuses on the imminent departure of Emerson Royal, who appears to be bound for AC Milan this summer.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are thought to have “renewed their interest” in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil, and Djed Spence are also “expected to leave” Spurs in the coming transfer window.

Interestingly, the report claims both Richarlison and Yves Bissouma “could also be sold to raise funds if significant offers come in” for the pair this summer.

The club has already shifted three players who were on the fringes of Postecoglou’s squad, with Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, and Tanguy Ndombele all being released by Spurs this month.

In addition, it sounds like Alejo Veliz “is likely to go out on loan again” rather than staying with the first-team squad.

Spurs Web Opinion

I honestly find the idea of us selling all these players just as exciting as the players we might sign, the squad needs a refresh.

We’ve held on to some of this driftwood for too long, and clearing out means we have space for upgrades. You have got to love a rebuild.

Report: Legal issue could derail Tottenham's pursuit of Albert Gudmundsson - The Spurs Web
Description

According to a report in Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Football Italia), Albert Gudmundsson finds himself in the middle of a legal battle after allegedly being accused of sexual assault, with his proposed move to Tottenham thus now in doubt.

Tottenham have been linked with Albert Gudmundsson

The report says that Spurs and Inter both hold a serious interest in Gudmundsson ahead of the summer, with the two clubs ready for a transfer battle.

It is revealed that the Nerazzurri are waiting for Valentin Carboni to be sold so that they can fund the operations, thus potentially giving Spurs an advantage in the race for the Iceland international.

However, Gudmundsson is now thought to be caught in a legal battle that could derail his move to the San Siro or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Albert Gudmundsson allegedly accused of sexual assault

The player was reportedly accused of sexual assault by women he met at a Reykjavik nightclub in the summer of 2023.

The publication reveals that the case had initially been closed by a district attorney back in February, but this has now been overturned by Iceland’s attorney general following an appeal by the alleged victim.

According to the update, the Genoa man is now expected to be charged, with a possible trial taking place later this year.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham and Gudmundsson’s other suitors will be put off from pursuing a deal for the forward until the case is heard in court and there is a final verdict on it.

We suspect Tottenham may look for a new number nine rather than another wide attacker this summer either way.
